If you want your food served with a side ot teen attitude then you're in luck here. First time here and won't be bothering again. The food itself was nice enough but the service left a lot to be desired. Part of the meal didn't arrive and I had to ask 2 different waiters before it eventually arrived 10 minutes later.

We have just spent the afternoon at the wacky warehouse handforth . It is a fabulous space my 2 year old absolutely loves it there. Mel and Kelly are just wonderful staff and can't do enough for you . It's lovely to have staff who engage with the children and to be greeted with happy faces. 😊 Thank you ladies.

Myself and my mum booked in for Sunday lunch. Having visited the Blue Bell and other Pear Hospitality venues in the past, we were familiar with the high standard of food and service they’ve got to offer. The Sunday lunch was exceptional with everything being home made and unique to this venue. Best Sunday roast in the area by far. The roast beef was marvellous and served perfectly rare to my liking. The gravy is worth the visit in itself! All the trimmings were cooked to perfection with lovely seasoning touches you will not get anywhere else. Our server Macy was fantastic, with a big smile going an extra mile to make the experience memorable and happy to cater any requirement or wish you may have. The cocktails we had were perfect too ! Big thank you to all of the staff for a fabulous end of the week treat !

After a long journey from our home, this pub was recommended and did not disappoint. Lunch menu was varied, we had beef & ale pie and b&c burger, followed by delicious rhubarb and ginger pudding. The staff were attentive and genuinely friendly, the team worked well together and the setting was clean, quiet and well-organised. The food was delicious, freshly-cooked fluffy chips and wonderful pudding. Reasonable prices and service with a smile, we would definitely return.

An absolutely appalling Sunday lunch. Staff in hotel reception were too busy chatting to direct us to the restaurant. On entering the restaurant there was no one to book us in, A staff member at the bar continued a casual conversation without acknowledging us. 5 minutes later took us to a table. The vegetarian item was different to the advertised item with our Wowcher deal menu. We ordered and after waiting some time but the starters didn't arrive, instead our main course arrived, we had not had our starter! An afternoon tea also arrived, but was not our order! The main course went back to the kitchen and given the assurance that we would have a completely fresh meal cooked. The server gave the excuse that the 'chef' had his mind on the wedding reception they were also catering for. Our starters were eaten and upon taking away the dirty plates we were asked if we would like to see the dessert menu! (We had not had our main courses). Our main courses arrived but bypassed us to head to a different table, eventually arriving at our table. It was as predicted, very much on the cool side. The image we had seen on Hollin Hall's website was nothing like the meal we were served. The Yorkshire Pudding was small, completely unrisen and undercooked. No stuffing was served with the chicken. The vegetables chopped into small rubbery chunks of carrots, parsnips and onion were rubbery and overcooked. All the food was lukewarm. No checkback was made during the meal. As the plates were cleared we were asked if the meal was OK, but had to be honest and report it was the worst Sunday lunch we had ever eaten. The server apologised saying they were short staffed as they had a wedding on! As we got up to leave no one came to offer the bill or take our voucher, so we had to leave it on their reception desk. No one bid us goodbye or thanked us for our custom. We felt very undervalued. I suggest on such occasions they should not even attempt to serve what they advertise as a Sunday Lunch when they are catering for weddings. Without a doubt we will NOT be returning for any reason. Avoid at all costs.

No customer service. On entering, we were welcomed with the wonderful words "How many for' Sat at a table menu states in a rude manner "No substitutes given on menu" Ordered and waited The vegetarian breakfast was not worth the money. To add insult to injury, a member of staff opened the patio doors near to where we were seated. This then made our food cold. No apology was given. On leaving staff just looked us up and down. However if you are a regular the staff are all over you. This used to be a nice place to go, which I had used for years. Will be giving wide bearth for a long while.

Rooms are nice and housekeeping keep them lovely and clean, beyond the main entrance the hotel is a bit run down in places. The leisure facilities are a nice bonus. The restaurant has nice staff but the drinks prices are ridiculously expensive, a large Malbec is £15 here but you can buy the same for £9 in the pub half a mile away. The food is quite nice but pricey.

Visited The Farmers Arms on our 37th wedding anniversary, hadn’t booked but were able sit in the alcove which was nice. Food was excellent, very generous portions, steak & ale pie was packed with meat & had no fat. Our waitress was very friendly & attentive.

Great service from the team and a really lovely view out of the castle window whilst having breakfast. However, the food was awful. We had a full English breakfast and everything was just bland, the bacon was overcooked and the sausage was pitiful, the bread was also incredibly thin. It tasted as it if were made using super cheap products as opposed to the locally sourced farm referenced. We’re incredibly surprised and equally disappointed. In addition, as I hardly ate my breakfast I went to check out the pastries which were overcooked …… or burnt.

This was our 3rd mid week stay here and as always the staff were very friendly and accommodating. Food was lovely, best leek and potato soup I’ve had! It’s very trainable price compared to other hotels and restaurant costs (especially for the area it’s in). The restaurant building is lovely with all the old wooden beams showing.
