The best restaurants serving British food in North West

Just a quick visit on a Saturday night for a few beers but the place was buzzing due to a match being screened. Drink and service was very good and it makes a good alternative option to the other Ambleside bars x

We had the winter warmer special at £4.99, which included chips, 3 good sized pieces of fish, plus a side order and a drink- it was delicious but fantastic value. We will definitely come back here again. The food was delicious.

Travelled a long way to come here. Checked Google first (as I have a small dog) to see if it is dog friendly. The post on google says it ''is'' dog friendly. I carried him over my shoulder in his carry bag, only to get approached by a member of staff who told me to leave as dogs are not allowed ! I told her that it says on the internet that it ''is'' dog friendly and she was in a bag and woukd not be walked in the store, but she wouldn't listen !! The small dog wasn't on the ground. In fact, she is cleaner and more behaved than most kids running around the place! They need to take the '' false information '' off Google search. It's false and misleading and has happened to many others since reading reviews, hence spoiling people's days out and costing unnecessary fuel costs and potential customers time !! Would have spent a lot on money in there but will never return after that !!! Dog friendly photo included..GET IT REMOVED UNSTEAD 9F WASTING PEOPLES TIME !! 🫣

Amazing ploughman’s lunch after a walk to Smardale viaduct! Friendly staff fast service and a delicious meal we will be going back

We have just left The Lighthouse. We come every month for the tribute acts. Yet again another fantastic afternoon. Food, staff, service was excellent. Neil Diamond act, who we have seen several times, brilliant 👏 We brought friends with us today, who hadn't been and they loved the experience. Many thanks Tina and staff. New menu was great, so much choice! Allotment summer sandwich was lovely :) my partner got the bhaji burger and the chips with it were amazing. Dessert wise, cheesecake and sticky toffee pudding were great dessert choices - the cookie brownie was disappointing (very small and flat) Ambience is lovely, love the music playlist.

First time here and I was a little bit apprehensive as it’s a half hour drive from where we live My conclusion is it’s ok if your a local There was nothing wrong with any meal, but the two who had lasagna thought the portion was small, us other two thought ours was ok Would I go again no because it’s not worth the journey and it’s nothing special just pub food

The only reason I have awarded 2 stars is that the price was relatively inexpensive for a night’s lodgings. Apparently, back in the day, the Bridge was THE hotel around, complete with uniformed staff. How far it has fallen! The rooms are tiny, with poor lighting and walls painted dark colours when they need pale. The TV doesn’t get decent reception and, although the bathroom is clean, we were provided one towel for the two of us. The corridor leading to room 20 is so overheated that windows &!doors have to be left open to keep it bearable. Windows are filthy. I was told the hotel is for sale but, if so, I hope the buyer has deep pockets. Inexpensive but not somewhere you’d want to spend more than one night. Give me Premier Inn any day or, in Prestbury, The Legh Arms.

Amazing food, highly recommended the Parmesan fries! To be honest it was all lovely though. Came out quickly, really fresh and reasonably priced. Definitely recommend!

My 2 friends and I had dinner and drinks here to celebrate my 50th Birthday as part of my month long celebrations to accommodate availability. We had such a great time! The food was delicious (3 courses each!) As were the drinks and special Birthday touches including co-ordinating with my girlfriend for 3 long island iced-tea cocktails and Birthday treat! Thanks so much Rachel(?) we think that was her name, who looked after us all night, she wears glasses, absolutely made the evening special. Thanks so much! I would firmly recommend this place for dinner and drinks. It was Grand National Saturday too so the vibe was brilliant!

Food was nice no complaint, staff when needed ok, bill came ,12% service charge what !! , why I am a person that will always tip ,but my option. Who gets the service charge staff or company , God only knows what they collect on a table of 8 , will seriously think about not returning .
