The best restaurants serving British food in North West

I think 1 star is very generous to this business. Stopped by the Mulberry Bush Café for a quick bite on the way home—big mistake. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted by a swarm of flies, which should have been the first red flag. Instead of turning around, we decided to order takeaway. That was our second mistake. We ordered a Chicken & Bacon Panini, a BLT, and two portions of Halloumi & Bacon Fries. What we received was an absolute disgrace. The fries were topped with a pathetic scattering of bacon and three tiny, burnt scraps of halloumi—if you could even call it that. The BLT was an insult to sandwiches everywhere: thick, dry bread, a full half of a tomato just plonked in, and a measly single strip of bacon per half. The salad? Chopped into huge, unappetizing chunks—though, to be fair, the 10 nachos dumped on top were the only remotely edible part of the meal. And then there was the panini. If you enjoy the taste of pure grease with zero seasoning or flavor, this one’s for you. It was so drenched in oil it could have been wrung out like a dishcloth. For nearly £30, this was beyond unacceptable. A complete waste of money on food that felt more like a punishment than a meal. Avoid this place at all costs.

Highly recommended. Popular restaurant. Regular visitor, morning and/or afternoon. Enjoy a coffee and cake or a delicious meal. Watch Chester Riverboats and/or Grosvenor Boat Club members rowing.

Good atmosphere and great to watch sports in

Very good quality food. Served to please the eye, as well as the taste buds. The hotel part of it is fantastic, a spacious room with a king-size bed and a roomy shower. Large carpark.

Surroundings are beautiful however we went for carvery and was very disappointed, wished I’d have read the reviews prior to going. Food was very disappointing, dry, hard, overcooked etc etc. I read the reviews now as I wanted to put a review on and people had the same comments I had about the food. Think it’s a lottery on food and service. Good luck on the day if you visit.

Excellent Lunch. We ate from the winter menu soon to be the spring menu, great value for money. 4 very happy dinners. All staff extremely helpful and friendly.

Went for a Sunday evening meal. The food was pleasant but nothing extraordinary. They had sold out of 2 out of 3 of the available roast dinner options by 6pm so if you want a Sunday roast it would be advisable to go earlier. One thing that let this meal down though was the service, they do not have enough staff serving tables. There is a call button system on the table for ordering but no body responded despite pressing it 3 times. I attempted to order at the bar but was advised to return to the table and use the button. We must have waited 30 minutes just for the food order to be taken.

It is a real hidden gem. Food excellent good selection for all. Pub is family friendly and welcomed dogs. I highly recommend this for family lunches and cosy evenings. Staff are brilliant.

Authentic lovely food all the time! My go to place just the best never getting anywhere better! You should open in the city centre!!!

Very good mother's Day lunch. We were a large group. All the food came out together and was delicious. Desserts too were traditional and lovely. Service was polite, and well organised. Only thing I would have preferred is a local beer.

Gran ambiente ayer para el partido de Liverpool. Desafortunadamente el personal del bar era tan pobre que estábamos pasando mucho tiempo en el bar. La chica de negro está tan embelesada por otro camarero que ninguno hace ningún trabajo. El resto del personal claramente no quería estar allí. El chico que recogía las gafas era el único que podía complementar. La gestión de la mesa era mala. Junto a nosotros había una mesa de 10 jóvenes sin beber ni comer. Ciudad para mí la próxima semana

Great location and service, but there is room for improvement with the food, especially since the Food Hall quality is exceptional. The savoury options could do with a rework/review - they're very breakfast themed and not very well cooked, presentation needs looking at too. How about adding pies, quiche and sausage rolls? And granary rolls? The cake selection is good..and tasty

Had a lovely brunch in the pancake house. I had the farmers Dutch which was delicious. My husband had the new yorker and my daughter the Nutella and strawberry. Service was friendly and efficient. A great addition to centre parcs

Superb food and excellent serice from Tom this evening. All the food was delicious, especially the braised belly pork. Highly recommend.

Another lovely lunch at Tastebuds. Food was delicious. Atmosphere lovely and friendly. Brilliant outdoor seating area. Staff were all lovely and accommodating. Massive thanks to our server Lisa who made our visit really memorable..
