Went for Sunday lunch today. Haven't been since it was refurbished, it looks lovely, they've done a great job. Lovely staff, mainly young lads all polite and helpful. 4 of us ordered roast beef dinner. The beef was as tough as old boots! The veg was not bad, roast potatoes were ok. Nothing special. Yorkshire pudding was great. Nobody asked how the meal was or we'd have told them. We could have done with steak knives to cut the beef and we certainly needed good teeth to chew it! The young man that cleared the table did ask how it was and he did say we weren't the only ones to complain the beef was tough! It wasn't just us then! The bill was over £100 including a drink each. Not impressed at all. I don't think we'll be going back

Went to the Cube tonight with 9 members of family which was previously booked. The service was absolutely terrible. When we ordered. first they didn't have the roast beef which was on the menu, then they didn't have any pigs in blankets. We ordered our food and drinks and had to wait over an hour for the food to arrive. We was then told one of the family's members dinner had not been done yet( forgotten) And they had also run out of Yorkshire pudding (which was part of the meal) The three staff that were on duty were next to useless and couldn't be found gor most of the time and the bar was unattended. We would normally of had desserts but weren't prepared to wait another hour for them, and we wernt even asked by anyone if we even wanted any. I would say the service was appalling, but actually it was NON EXISTANT!! when I went to pay the bill I had to knock several times in the counter to get someone to come from out back and tend to me. I asked if we would be getting any discount for the appalling service and having to wait over an hour for food and also for the famy members forgotten dinner. The man pulled a face at me and said "WHAT" and then disappeared out back again. I was left standing so long i got hold of another member of staff and asked if the first nan was coming back? He just said "he's talking to the owner" He eventually came back and said the best we can do is not charge for the late dinner and drinks. I would not recommend this place to anyone the service we received was absolutely disgusting.

We had a delicious breakfast at the More? Artisan Bakery. We sampled porridge, a bacon and egg bap and a pain au chocolat. All the food was made with first class ingredients and tasted great. The tea was a lovely big mug full. The cafe has a nice lively atmosphere and is well decorated. We will definitely make a return trip!

You can’t really go wrong with Pieminster. Always an excellent pie with quality sides, catering to all dietary preferences/requirements, whichever of their restaurants you visit. Unfortunately at their Liverpool location, service really doesn’t stack up. Service got off to a rocky start when I was informed that draft beers were unavailable as they were changing all of the barrels over. I said nevermind, I’ll take a can, but would happily wait a couple of minutes to finish changing the barrels and have a draft. I was then informed that they were being changed ‘next week’ as they had no fresh barrels to change to, therefore it’d have to be a can??? Food was about a 30 minute wait, as reiterated to a group of diners who entered after we ordered. Not a problem by any means but the restaurant was very quiet and only three or four tables were seated when we entered, so I dread to imagine how long service would take when the place is at capacity. I suppose it’s not really any wonder how quiet the restaurant is, given that their website says they aren’t even open on a Sunday. We really enjoyed our meals when they got to us, but our portions of gravy were only half filled. As typical northerners, this was instantly clocked as a problem and more gravy was requested as soon as our food arrived 😆. 10 minutes pass, food nearly finished, not a drop of gravy remains. I ask the other member of wait staff - as the fella I initially asked had done about 10 laps past our table in this time and had clearly forgotten entirely. She brought a single portion over (I reiterate, we’re northerners - you’re gonna need a bigger boat!). While we waited for her to bring our gravy, I noticed her deliver a couple fresh pints of draft beer to another table… Clearly they practice witchcraft here as a week can pass in the space of an hour. Or maybe I really was waiting an entire week here for extra gravy… Who knows… Table cleared, no deserts offered. Fine, I guess we’ll take the bill and head off then! Oh right, subject to that 10% discretionary service charge that your menu states is only applicable to parties of six or more (there was four of us). Of course the discretion is all down to you as a diner, you can’t really expect the staff to use common sense and knock it off when they know there’s been a shortfall in their service? No. You can make the awkward request yourself, and then when the waitress looks you in the eye like you’ve just insulted her whole family, huffs and chuffs back to the kitchen for a replacement bill, you begin to wonder if maybe you’re being unreasonable. Frankly, I don’t think it’s fair to just bump service charges without a valid reason, or to just keep it to yourself and hope the staff read the feedback from your mind on how they can improve. In most UK cities, a service charge is the norm, and what’s an extra couple of quid on the bill matter after a nice meal with good service? Well when I let her know that we wouldn’t have an issue with the SC if not for the shortfall with the refusal to serve me a pint or some extra gravy promptly (which they charged us £1.50 for one more pathetically small boat - or dinghy, which would be a much more appropriate term for that vessel!). Major attitude problem when she starts trying to cut me off after every word saying nothing besides “ok”. My conspiracy theory? These guys are downsizing portions on a quiet night trying to rinse a bit of extra money on the service charge when you buy extras. No pints of beer, why not spend more on two cans? Half servings of gravy, pay us £1.50 each to make it a full one? I know this isn’t the norm for Pieminster, having dined at their other restaurants previously - but it’s very disappointing nonetheless. Fortunately after a quick trip to the Tesco round the corner to buy something sweet to follow our meals with, and after spending the money we saved on service charge on snacks for the homeless fella outside, we knew the money had gone to someone more deserving.

Was pretty good, both of us had the friday fish and chips. The only reason I've knocked it down a star is that the restaurant area was really really noisy with people playing the darts game. This game should really be moved into the bar area so people can enjoy their lunch in the middle of the afternoon.
