I visited the Windmill Tavern with my mum and dad a few weeks ago and it was absolutely fantastic. It has been many years since we visited and we were all so pleased with the delightful welcome we all received and lovely food. I would like to say a big thank you to Imogen who was very accommodating, she makes a great host and had all the time in the world for my parents which made their night.(Top Chick). Nathan was also brilliant, he was very attentive and catered for all our needs. (Great all-rounder). The food was so fresh and we loved the roast beef, tender and sliced like thick steak. We all tried the cauliflower cheese which was the best I have personally had in a long time. We all had the Carvery and booked a table at short notice on a Sunday around 5pm, they do close relatively early so book early. Thanks again to the team my mum and dad will be over to see you soon for the carvery. Sandra

I visited this evening with friends and was very surprised/pleased that steaks were on the two mains for £15 menu. I had the prawn in garlic for starters which was yummy. My steak was good however the sauce was very watery. I mentioned this to the manager who immediately took my plate and agreed to replace the whole dish. When my meal arrived not only was the steak cooked to perfection the sauce was amazing. The manager offered to take my main off the bill, whilst I appreciated the offer I wanted to pay for what was a lovely meal 👌. I will be visiting again soon and recommend you pay this place a visit soon

The staff at the windmill were very friendly , and the food was tasty , but the portion size was way too small , had mushrooms for starter which was about the right size for a starter , then followed by lancashire hotpot served with a piece of bread , tasty but way too small of a portion , then I had the smallest crème brulee very disappointing especially price at 5.50 , all in all food tasty but wouldn't return due to portion size .

Popped in here on the way back from having a short drive out one sunny evening and we were pleasantly surprised. It's a long while since we had been to the Windmill, (several years in fact, ) and although the decor seemed much the same as i had remembered, the atmosphere seemed more welcoming. We ordered our food and started with hot king prawns in a beautiful garlicky sauce and sitting on a bed of a crispy crusty bread roll. It was beautiful. For the mains, my friend and I opted for the small fish and chips and if that was a small portion, I wouldn't like to have ordered the larger one, because it must be huge! Hubby decided to have the fish pie which came in a dish accompanied by a side salad. He said it was lovely and full of large chunks of fish. For pudding, we all ordered the same. It was a red berry sundae and it was delicious. Having had soft drinks during the meal, we then finished off with a coffee. All this worked out at approx £23 each which seemed very reasonable for all that we had and indeed, we shall be dining there again very soon!

We were visiting the area and decided to go for Sunday lunch. The food was excellent - we had the carvery. We were some of the last customers of the day. I had to wait as they had run out of gravy. However, the idea of a carvery is that you can help yourself to additional vegetables but they were cleared away as soon as we had been served which was a little disappointing. The staff were friendly and the food lovely. Just a couple of tweaks and they'd have nailed it.

Haven't been to the Windmill for years, but as we've been hearing good reports about we chose it for a birthday meal. WOW it was great, the 2 mains for £15 is great value. I chose fish of the day, salmon, perfectly cooked and served with fresh veg and a lovely cream, prawn and crayfish tails sauce. Delicious, could not fault it. Followed up with chocolate brownie sundae which was naughty but very nice. We all loved it and will be spreading the word that the Windmill is great,

Nice decor. Great staff. Good food. The 2 for £15 between 5 and 7pm is great. BUT.... £4.50 for mushrooms and bread is to high. £6 for a fish cake is mental. An extra £1 for a slice of cheese or bacon that's what, £3 for the whole pack is ridiculous. AND.... £2.80 for a DIET COKE. Mate! How can you charge nearly £3 for a coke. A bottle costs £1 at asda. Yes, you have deals on the food. But you scam the rest of the money on the drinks, starter's and sides. When will business's learn that fair prices will keep the customers coming back. We'll come back, but it'll be every few months instead of every week because of the prices. It's pub food not gourmet chef food. Learn from this.

Didn't think it was as good as it has been. Haven't been for a few months and was quite disappointed. Previously been lots of choice but not this time. Booked a table for Sunday lunch as family we're visiting. A couple of us had the carvery and I was looking forward to a good choice of veg that there has usually been but all there was was carrots or cauliflower cheese. Think there was red cabbage possibly as well but that was it. There was all the other things with potatoes and parsnips, Yorkshires, stuffing ball and pigs in blankets but i personally found it quite disappointing with the lack of veg. Where were the sprouts!! I'm not that keen on cheese but I do like cauliflower but there wasn't that option. Staff were very nice and Service was excellent but overall was disappointed.

We ate here on Monday evening, we ordered fish and chips and after waiting some time for our order were advised they didn't have any left. We then ordered sausage and chips and again after ordering and another wait were told they didn't have any left. I had the fish pie and it was hard to tell the difference between the sauce and mash it was just a load of slop. The fish pie was advertised as coming with salad, on arrival it was just a plate of lettuce so I asked for some salad but it never arrived. I hadn't eaten all day so I was hungry but when I got home I was being sick within an hour. There were only two staff on duty and to say the service was slow would be an understatement. I asked a staff member to place our order and was advised he could not take food orders it took three attempts to get the waitress to our table to place the order. We used to eat here often and thought we would try it now it has re opened, we will not be going back as there are too many local places that serve good food and offer good service.

The restaurant is very clean and has a lovely relaxing atmosphere. The carvery is one of the best we have ever had, although the meat choices tend to run out quite early on a Sunday. Disappointed that the early doors does not apply anymore on a Friday, they have extended the times Monday to Thursday but would rather them keep the hours shorter and extend to Friday (as it was before). Would recommend this restaurant. A little on the expensive side, and will go again if they change the early doors to a Friday.

We live in the area and decided to go to The Windmill Tavern for late lunch/ early dinner because we've heard it has been refurbished and under new management. It was early afternoon so it wasn't surprising there were not many people in. The guy at the bar was very friendly and helpful. The place looked very nice inside but we chose to sit outside. The outside area was very nice too.One quick look at the menu was enough to say it's the same like in most of the "out of town" pubs. Limited choice and overpriced for what you get. The meal I chose was nice- big portion and very well presented but still I could get it twice as cheap at the big pub chains. My partner wasn't impressed because they didn't have his first choice so he had to choose something else. His second choice had some fancy name which ended up being just 3 sausages with a bit of mash and onion chutney. For £10 that was a bit of a disappointment. Overall we probably won't be going back soon. I don't see the point of paying them prices for ordinary pub food.

My new wife and I would like to take the opportunity to report on, and to thank the staff at the Windmill Tavern, for the exceptional service they provide during our wedding celebrations on the 2nd June 2017.Their good humored and professional response to what was in itself a very late notice requirement for multi-event reception and evening function was simply magnificent. Indeed, their flexibility in responding to the even later emergent requirement changes that arose as late as the day before the wedding, and in coping with the schedule delays on the day its self, represent what can only be considered as an exception customer focused delivery ethos.Friendly, cheerful and quick to smile the staff on the day took everything in their stride and simply delivered a 1st Class Service for us. Not only was the quality of the food / silver-service exceptional but the assistance offered by both the manager and chef ensured that our special day was just a little bit more special. In particular, Natasha's advice on Wedding planning matters in general, her recommendation of a talented singer, and her identification of a suitable table decorating service was simply above and beyond that normally experienced. So to precis; the Windmill Tavern delivered under difficult requirements and conditions an exceptional Service resulting in an exceptionally satisfied customer. We would have no difficulty whatsoever in highly recommending you to other couples and would be grateful if you could note our satisfaction and pass on our sincere thanks to all involved.Melanie and David Evans

I wonder if we visited on an 'off' night. We went mid-week at about 7.30pm and were the only people in the restaurant. I asked for a menu with gluten free options and was informed that they don't have one but the waiter said he would ask the chef and let me know. I was only given 2 options which is quite incredible. I ordered the fish pie and it was delicious. My partner's gammon meal was very good too. A small group came in at exactly 8pm. The waiter checked with kitchen staff that he was allowed to take their order and he stood over them whilst they took off their coats, took their seats, and quickly read the menu. For the sake of 2 minutes he could have given them a moment to settle in. With us being the only people in the restaurant I am fairly sure they can't afford to turn away custom. The decor is fantastic, the fire was great but there was no atmosphere and it was not a customer-focused establishment.

I have visited the Windmill on numerous occasions over the years and if have ever eaten there it has been a bad experience.I visited with my daughter today and had a fantastic meal.We had little sausages with mustard dip and a garlic bread to start. Very good well cooked and presented. For main course my daughter had sausage and mash which again was well cooked and presented.I had steak frite which was fantastic. I like a well done steak which is usually frowned upon. However over the years I have realised that only a very good chef can cook a well done steak properly. This one was perfect. To finish we had crème Brule and treacle pudding both of which were fantastic.I would urge people to take a leap of faith and return to the windmill and give it a go. I have spent years travelling a long way to get this type of food and now I have this place on my doorstep I want it to flourish.

Visited the Windmill Tavern today with family and was completely astounded by the fantastic transformation of not just the appearance of the pub/restaurant - but of the complete transformation of the menu and quality of the food served. The service was impeccable - and despite a mini rush , the assistant manager Ashley, managed to serve and accommodate his customers with ease and total professionalism. The food was outstanding with triple cooked Chips being especially praised as well as the sea bass! There is a new private dining room on offer in a previously unseen part of the windmill with lovely views. (There are several stairs though).I would highly recommend this establishment and I wish it well.

we just called in whilst out having a drive, although the restaurant was really busy and booked they fitted us in on a table that was booked later. The service was very good, the menu was good and although I ordered from the menu, there was a carvery on offer and it looked amazing! next time I will have that! I had the fish pie which was excellent. definitely going again!

Our first visit to this newly refurbished 'tavern' and we weren't disappointed. A nice variety of innovative meal choices as well as some classics on the menu. Very pleasant staff and nice decor which has more of a restaurant feel than pub look to it. Well cooked food which looked to be cooked fresh rather than the 'microwave' look everyone is familiar with and very nicely presented too.I hope the new owners keep up the high standards and are successful as it deserves to be.

We enjoyed our meal here. Service was a bit hectic but I think that maybe because it hasn't been open long. Food was ok but not great. For the price when it's 50% off it's worth it, otherwise it's not. I think when the offer finishes they need to rethink the offering as you can get homecooked lovely food at the pub further up the road for a much more reasonable price.

Wanted to avoid all the extra rates due to valentine’s day ‘profiteering’ and as my daughter had noticed that the Windmill Tavern was under new management we decided to give it a go. Following a warm welcome we began to study the menu which proved to be varied with some lovely alternatives such as smoked haddock, prawn and cod fishcakes with sweet chilli sauce starter, creamy Lancashire rarebit sandwich, mushroom and lentil shepherd pie for veggies, pie of the week – which was lamb and vegetables, pork schnitzel, fried egg, raw slaw, potato salad, rocket and parmesan salad and other wonderful sounding options making our choice very difficult! Eventually we settled on nachos with cheddar cheese, salsa and sour cream; and prawns with smoked salmon, cos lettuce, smoked paprika with dill mayo; and, out of interest, we also added the calamari with aioli - all of which were served with garnish, decent sized portions and were very tasty! We followed this feast with a 9oz 30-day dry-aged Plumgarths rump steak and frites served with ‘Café de Paris’ herb & mustard butter; and chicken and smoked bacon Caesar served with parmesan, romaine lettuce, garlic croutons, boiled egg, Worcestershire sauce and Caesar dressing. Again, everything was delicious! We really should have stopped there but couldn’t resist sharing a crème brûlée, which was creamy with a lovely crunchy top served with homemade shortcake. Yum!Service was excellent - friendly and efficient. We will definitely be visiting again – to work our way through the menu :-)

Went to the Windmill Tavern for Sunday lunch with my husband and 2 couples plus a child. Staff were very friendly and polite. There wasn't alot of choice on the Sunday menu but it was a varied choice. We opted for Cavery which was very tasty. We all had 3 courses and it was excellent value for money. We will definitely be back to try the rest of the menu

Noticed the Windmill was under new management as I drove past recently, so decided to try it for Saturday lunch. The building is attractive and nicely appointed, warm and comfortable. At first glance the menu seemed to offer fairly typical pub food but there was plenty of variety including a number of vegetarian options and everything we tried was tasty and fresh. All in all, a distinct cut above the average pub offering.

We've visited a few times since the windmill have reopened and we are very impressed with the new look and food. The food tastes lovely and home cooked. The staff are always welcoming. They do a nice lunch offer which is soup for £1 when you buy a sandwich. Sandwiches are lovely and very filling, although I wasn't that impressed with the sandwich choice. The soup (parsnip) was amazing seriously good. The only down side to the restaurant is that service on each occasion has been very slow. However, this wouldn't stop me from going, I just go when not in a rush.

2nd visit in as many weeks. Amazing food, cooked to perfection, young female chef going the extra mile when floor staff are busy by helping with table service to ensure food gets to tables whilst still hot. Service for beverages a bit slow, nonetheless great experience all around.

You can always rely on the windmill to have good homely food at a good price! The most recent trip I made we all had steak to eat! I went for the 'steak frites', which I must admit I expected to be a thin sliced steak, however it was a hearty rump! A little over cooked as I asked for it rare and it came medium, however a really lovely piece of meat! I probably would have preferred the big chunky chips they normally serve than the thin French fries but that's what frites is, so I got what I ordered!!! It was a little slow service, but only because it was extremely busy for a Tuesday night, so we didn't mind waiting as the man on ( the manager maybe) was lovely and made sure we were happy all the time. It's a really lovely meal, the meat is always fresh and tasty! The one thing I'd say is I don't know why they chose to repaint the windmill blue on the inside as it makes it a little chilly, but other than that a very good, friendly pub!

Just had a family meal at the windmill. First time since refit, it was obvious they were short staffed as a waitress hadn't turned up. That said the manager I think run around to keep everything on track! Great food great service! Thanks!

First visit yesterday after reopening after refurbishment and new ownership and we were very impressed! Very welcoming staff on entrance, I think it must be the landlady who seated us and nothing was too much trouble. Really good quality, fresh carvery whilst my daughter had children's sausage and chips. We enjoyed it so much we have booked in for our New Years Day Dinner.

Visited Lytham today, usually eat at The Lytham Kitchen, they were full so we walked over to ‘Seniors’ fish n chips. Absolutely fantastic value for a lovely ‘mini meal deal’ cod or haddock (definitely wouldn’t have called it ‘mini’ chips, mushies, cup of tea or coffee, bread n butter, £8 !!!! Lovely food, service, and freshly cooked. We’d have paid double that in the LK, will visit ‘Seniors’ again.

Fish batter was appauling, pale soggy and tasted of flour. Kitchen blamed new batter, no kitchen would served that fish at £18. Peas were solid and dry. The manager was very accomodating and refunded the price of the meal but not the point, we went for a lovely lunch. If they cant servce fish and chips there is something!! Vey bellow average/ wont be going back!

Great breakfast. The team are really friendly. It was very busy on saturday morning. The team had no issue with scrambled egg or veggie sausage all delivered to the table with a smile. This is the third time we have been here, staying close by in the Motorhome Stop mext door. Always a friendly welcome that keeps us coming back.

Very run down pub dark & gloomy inside. The food was very basic mixed platter for 2 to start with garlic bread was burnt. The remainder of the dish was OK. Hunters chicken for a main was over cooked and dry. The cheese burger, was poor burgers like what you get at a stand. The bill approximately £30 I would not recommend Staff appeared miserable
