My personal, honest and constructive opinion. Seems a shame to be honest - bit of a paradox regards food. It is nice but... Soup was really tasty, but served almost cold - it was tepid. The Steak & Malbec pie looked beautiful - lovely crisp pastry - really nice - it was not soggy or too thick; the pie inside was quite hollow, and each piece of meat was gristle & chewy fat - so let down. There is something wrong each time we go - on another occasion the Lamb koftas were burnt & shriveled up - black charcoal and dried on the ends, on another, the onions were seriously raw - seemingly the chef left the kitchen, on that occasion, and a Junior chef was left to carry on. Despite mentioning to front of house staff, the downfalls, we hope for an improvement each time, as the chef appears to be good, but let down by the meat quality - it would have been a fantastic pie if the quality of the meat was better, or trimmed, opposed to the chewy fat it contained. Not sure if we will go again - may give it one more chance. Such a shame, let down by these issues. Honest customer.

After reading positive reviews we decided to give the River Wyre a go. How disappointing. After a 45 minute wait on a quietish lunch time, the food arrived. I had chicken skewer, which was a bit dry, but passable, accompanied by a feta salad; this was a joke. A few leaves with a tiny bit of feta sprinkled on. I complained to the waitress, who gave me a complimentary coffee. My husband had a. Burger, which was ok, but at almost £52 lighter, I felt I’d been robbed. We won’t be going back.

Kaz served us and was great. Nice atmosphere and friendly staff. The food was ok.

The River Wyre is an excellent Pub. The service offered by Jemma,Eve and the other one is very good It's an extensive menu covering most tastes Pleasant to see bo Chicken Dippers

Just had a lovely meal at the River Wyre. Hubby had the cod and chips, I had the homemade steak and merlot pie. Both meals were very good, as it usually is here. Nice relaxed atmosphere, food arrived quickly. Gemma the waitress is always so helpful, she even remembered I had a fish allergy from a visit last month! Max behind the bar is a lovely, polite young man who took my order and checked for allergies on his notepad. Will definitely be back. Worth mentioning...this is a very popular venue at weekends, so always book a table in advance if possible. When they are busy, the food is worth waiting for. The pub is also dog friendly in 2 sections, and humans only in a larger area.

Came in for lunch with a friend and Kaz was a brilliant host. We sat in the dog friendly area and she went above and beyond for us and the pooch. Nothing was too much trouble and she was very attentive.

We were served by kaz she was super friendly and lovely she gave extra care to my little dog with water and treats and a sneaky piece of turkey miley 🐶 gives 10 🌟 thanks kaz x

Unbelievable the length of time to serve us. Food then had fruit flies on one of the meals.

What a disappointment… ! We’ve eaten here on a number of occasions and always enjoyed it however the latest experience was terrible. We ordered a selection of starters which arrived and they were acceptable, then it went downhill ! After ordering 3 Chicken and Vegetable Penang curries and a chicken skewer we were told they only had enough for 2 curries .. not a problem one of us switched to the fish cakes … the main courses arrived even though our starters hadn’t been cleared away which resulted in us switching plates with the server .. okay mistakes happen however the curries arrived and it definitely was one portion split between two plates and missing the vital ingredient of ‘Chicken’ when we questioned this the server said we didn’t specify we wanted chicken even though the dish is called ‘Chicken and Vegetable Penang Curry!’ The curries were disappointing to say the least … the fragrant jasmine rice was literally a solid block which my fork stood upright in it, it was solid ! The fish cakes which at first looked appealing were just mushy inside and hardly any taste of fish … the broccoli was boiled within an inch of its life the only edible part was the new potatoes. The chicken skewer came as just a stick of 5 chicken chunks on a plate … nothing else ! The feta salad which was an accompaniment arrived once the skewer had been eaten and again very disappointing ! We did get the curries removed from the final bill which was appreciated however they were basically inedible so this was expected ! This was such a shame as we usually enjoy it at the wyre however we won’t be rushing back unfortunately !! And on a final note there seemed to be a surplus of fruit flies .. not appetising at all !!!

Just had a lovely meal at the River Wyre. Initially the restaurant told us that due to fridge/freezer problems not everything was available off the menu, but the staff made up for it in spades! Jemma was a delight and made us very welcome. Courteous, good rapport with customers and gave as good as she got banter wise, but not over the top. Jemma and the rest of the team tonight were fabulous and I can highly recommend. Food was good and will definitely go back. Keep up the good work guys!

Jemma was our waitresses this evening and what a delightful girl she was. The restaurant had had a few problems with freezers etc, so not everything available off the menu, but Jemma and the staff made up for it in spades. Very good rapport, efficient and always with a smile! Took banter and gave it back but not overly so. Keep up the good work guys.

We were served by Max and he was ace. We had Sunday lunch and the food was lovely.

Perfect Sunday lunch and catch up with girlfriends. We haven’t been for months and absolutely couldn’t fault it! Caitlin was a wonderful waitress!

Our dining experience was extremely disappointing. We were initially presented with overpriced wine without being given the option of size, and the food took over an hour to arrive. The restaurant was uncomfortably hot due to lack of air conditioning, and basic requests like a jug of water proved impossible. The fish was excessively battered, and additional gravy couldn't be ordered due to the staff being overwhelmed. I can safely say we won't be returning.

Regular visitor to The River Wyre. Really enjoy how attentive the staff are especially Kaz and Jem. The foods lovely and it's not too busy during the week if you like to have a nice pint. Keep up the good work.

Myself and 2 friends came on Thursday evening. Lax was our waitress for the evening, she was very friendly and helpful. Food was amazing I had the Moroccan chicken skewers followed by mini crumble and coffee. Atmosphere was great. I’ll be back

A real pub with amazing food and welcoming staff! Probably one of the best Sunday roasts I've ever had easily. Diverse menu selection for the adventurous. Very clean but still has the charms of a pub. Best of the modern and traditional elements, will definitely be back!

Took our parents for Sunday lunch today. All the staff were super welcoming, friendly and, knowledgeable about the menu, especially Jemma who we feel like we know now! We were offered a choice of table, and served brilliantly without being rushed. Food recommendations were made too which was helpful. We will be back soon.

The food was absolutely beautiful. We got a lamb roast dinner and a fillet steak and they were cooked to perfection. Max and a lovely lady (didn’t catch her name) served us and their service was brilliant! Will defiantly be back.

Really enjoyed our Sunday lunch

Best Sunday roast eaten out for ages!!! Had the baking camembert to share for starters and it was lush. Followed by roast beef Sunday dinner. Everything was freshly prepared, nothing frozen at all and big portions. The beef was moist and tender, as much proper gravy as you wanted, great home made yorkshire puds too. Served by Kaz who was great. Will definitely return for another 👌😋

Hello, I wanted to write to you about my recent visit to the river wyre. I enjoyed a burger there and it was very good. It was well-cooked, tender and tasty. The ingredients were fresh and the plate looked nice. The service was also great, especially from Kaz who was very friendly and attentive. I had a wonderful time at the river wyre and I would suggest it to anyone who wants a good meal and a pleasant dining experience.

Kaz was absolutely superb! I could not recommend her hospitality enough, she recommended the chocolate brownie which was absolutely sublime and i will certainly return to this establishment should kaz wish to meet me again

Booked table for 3 adults, arrived 4.30pm hoping to order sunday lunch, was informed no beef left only turkey and pork, decided for Margarita pizza, was informed they had run out, ended up with turkey and pork roast pork was a piece of fat!, additional pigs in blankets burnt to a crisp, sent them back, they apologised and said they would refund which the did, very poor quality, was not worth the prices they charge!!

A thoroughly pleasant evening made extra special with the attentive (but not pushy) service from Caitlin, jordi & MaxSo nice to have service with a smile which added to the delicious food and drink we enjoyed. We'll be back soon.

This really is the best Sunday roast in the area.

Jemma and Eve were great members of your team. However, with hindsight we have a bit of an issue with the cost. £73.95 seem too much for what we had. Two Roast Beef dinners, one extra gravy, one Cauliflower Cheese along with a large Pinot Grigio and one pint of Peroni. Appreciate that we should have checked our receipt but I have Crohns Disease and wasn’t really in a position to linger. Would appreciate your feedback. Thanks

The River Wyre is the place to have a lovely meal, accompanied by a great selection of beers and wines. The refurbishment is fabulous, and the menu is really extensive with some dishes that are very special and of course the usual classics. I often eat there and have ALWAYS had a lovely experience. Which brings me to the staff. We only see front of house, of course, but everyone clearly work as a great team. Special thanks to Jemma, who always serves with panache and a smile - the managers strive to make sure each guest has a warm welcome and obviously take care of their happy staff. A joy to have an evening there. ( And lunch -- they're fab too!)

Visited yesterday and was quite disappointed there was no roast Beef left for the second week in a row, we were really looking forward to it. On a positive note the food we did have was lovely as always

Lovely pub, we come every couple of weeks when visiting my Mum. Jess and Gemma both really good and attentive. Shame that it has been a little quieter than it used to be, the food and service really doesn't deserve for it to be busier on a Saturday night.

Haven’t been for a while, but was pleasantly surprised by the new changes. It was a pleasant surprise to see there are now two dog friendly areas, one with table service and one area where you order at the bar. The food was excellent served by very friendly staff. Kaz was a great waitress and very attentive. Food was delicious and hot.

Booked a table, didn't need to as there was plenty of tables when we arrived. The food had gone up considerably with main dishes now 17- 20. Standard was average but service was poor. We were greeted straight away and taken to a table. We then sat there for 20 mins before any acknowledgement was done. People just arriving were then having orders taken with us still sat there. I had to ask one of the waiters where we order before he came back and took the order. Drinks then took another 15 mins and I must stress they were not busy. Once we'd eaten it then took an age to get the bill, asking several times. Again not busy at all. We will not be coming back, overpriced with poor service!

Great service by Will the food was good. We visited earlier than normal which was a nice change as we had a child with us Will ensured he got the menu first with crayons which took the need to entertain off us. Well done.

Service was excellent provided by Caitlin who went the extra mile to meet our needs. The food was delicious, however I personally found the menu limited as a lot of dishes came with cheese which I don’t like.

They were busy and we did have to wait for drinks for a while but with sincere apologies, which makes all the difference. All the staff that served us were friendly and well trained. Had my first Sunday roast in the UK, and it was fantastic! The meal was delicious with perfectly cooked meat and vegetables. The Yorkshire pudding was a highlight. What made the experience even better was our waiter, Max. He was attentive, friendly, and provided excellent service. His recommendations were great and he made us feel very welcome. Highly recommend this place for a genuine Sunday roast experience. Thanks, Max, for making it special!
