After having had a bad experience and leaving a complaint via their website and a negative review here, Alana from the Wyre team contacted me to discuss what had gone wrong on our last visit. As an apology, we were invited back for a complimentary meal for the four of us. We arrived to a warm welcome. The pub wasn't busy and the team were attentive and friendly. We ordered the signature burger and the sea bass. All the meals were excellent, piping hot and beautifully presented. The desserts were fantastic too, the banoffi pastry desert was divine. Alana checked in on us several times during the evening and was obviously keen to ensure that we were looked after. Many thanks to the whole team for putting this right. We will be back.

We had lunch at the River Wyre today and the service was wonderful. We were greeted with a warm, friendly welcome. Both Jodie and Anne were attentive, courteous, chatty and humorous. They made the whole experience really enjoyable. Two of us had the skewers and my elderly mum had the chicken parmigiana. We were well looked after and all the food was well presented and delicious. Lovely!

We visited on 11th Feb for our sons birthday. We were greeted by Jess and were served by Kaz. We arrived at 4.30pm. We had the lunch special menu which consisted on 3 courses for £23.50. We were there for nearly 3 hours. The staff were very kind and attentive and nothing was too much for them. They even put a candle in our lads pudding and sang happy birthday to him, much to everyones surprise. Hes 26 lol. The food was fantastic! Great sized portions. We ate every bit! We highly recommend the River Wyre and will definately go back when we are in the area. We are from Liverpool and were holidaying in the area for the week. The pub is warm and welcoming and the staff are very friendly.

Great Sunday lunch, food and service excellent. Special thanks to Kaz our server who made us feel really welcome, nothing was too much trouble, will definitely be visiting again soon.

Frustratingly hit and miss... Gorgeous decor with several open fires and a nice, relaxed atmosphere. The problem is that the dining experience varies hugely depending on which staff are in... I've had the signature burger a number of times - sometimes it's amazing, other times it's a thrown together mess literally drowning in BBQ sauce. The last time I found a lump of I don't know what I'm the middle of it - some kind of fat, felt like a big slug - certainly wasn't any kind of beef... Presumably this is down to different chefs. The same goes for the front of house staff (whether in the bar area or restaurant) - Krispy Kaz in particular is amazing - very friendly, knowledgeable, helpful and attentive. If she isn't in though it can be a completely different experience, in a really bad way... If they sorted out the apparent inconsistency of staff it would be A1.

Kaz was super accommodating and friendly as usual . Great personality and chatting with all customers. The Valentines menu was amazing and big thanks to the chefs. Thanks again RW for another amazing meal.

Great birthday lunch for my mother at the River Wyre. Our server Kaz was so helpful, cheerful and polite and went the extra mile to make it a special occasion for her. Fantastic food and a cosy atmosphere. Even sang Happy Birthday to my mum - which she loved. Would highly recommend.

We went to the River Wyre for a three course Valentine’s Day special. The food was very tasty. We both had scallops for starters, followed by chicken parmigiana and my partner had fish pie. For dessert we had sticky toffee pool pudding and mini Bakewell tart. Our waitress, Kaz, was lovely and nothing was too much trouble for her. We have recently joined the loyalty scheme and received money off our final bill, which came to £59 - a real bargain. We will definitely be returning and next time for Sunday Lunch, which I believe is delicious.

Good food, lovely ambience and excellent staff! I recently had lunch here with my mum who has dementia. The staff were brilliant with mum. They were caring,attentive & had a laugh with us both! They were patient and catered for her needs. We ended up staying for 3 hours whilst enjoying a delicious 3 course lunch. I should have written down other names but a big shout out to Jodie who helped to provide a refreshing non alcoholic drink in a wine glass to mimic a white wine spritzer. Mum loved her 'boozy' afternoon! It was so good to see mum enjoying herself. Thankyou all! We'll be back very soon! Trish

Excellent service. Made life worth living again. I was forlorn before stepping over the threshold and when I did, life took on a hue of sunshine and warmth. Jemma and Jessica were both wonderful. They tret us right well. Lovely all round.

Jemma and Jess were very attentive and knowledgeable about both the food and the drinks menus the venue is delightful we were seated in the private dining area with a roaring log fire and set away other dinners there were 8 of us dinning and we all agreed the food was outstanding and we had a good variety from the menu, myself I had carrot and parsnip soup then the Pie of the day which happened to be Chicken and Mushroom served with mash roast carrots and onion rings with gravy on the side and the Mixed Fruit sponge pudding with custard, absolutely delicious, All in all I have a very enjoyable evening, and will be back to dine here again very soon. 10 out of 10 Stars 🌟🌟🌟

Visited the River Wyre on Friday 24th January and had the best time. The food was fantastic and so were all the staff, especially Jemma who was amazing! Couldn’t have been better

Ours was an early-evening Sunday booking. The dining room was cosy with a log fire, which was very welcome. There was a good atmosphere and plenty of the tables were occupied. Pie of the Day (chicken and mushroom) comprised a tasty filling with a flaky pastry crust; likewise the veggie wellington. The potatoes, parsnips and carrots were plentiful and well-cooked. Additional greens and delicious gravy completed the meal. Our starters were tasty and nicely presented and service was good. We are local and it is our go-to place to eat.

Really cold food delivered to all 4 members of our party after a long wait. Cold food was also sent back from another table next to us. There were clearly problems in the kitchen.

Jemma our waitress was great - very patient as we kept changing our drinks order. Food was lovely

Slightly disappointed with the drinks rounds as we had to wait too long for a glass of Rioja, ( did they have to go to Spain for it 😏😱😏) The ham and cheese was tasty and filling 😋🤤😋 The fish and chips gluten free was so inviting that we might try it in our next visit! Excellent service and quality of food as always. One of us had a delicious fish and chips and two had pie of the day which was steak and venison. The pie was exceptional as was the mash and vegetables. Highly recommended. Paul and Kaz were very attentive and friendly. Lovely relaxing meal in front of a very comforting log fire, perfect in all aspects.

Friendly staff, attentive without being too in your face. Checked allergies fully. Great food and nice choice of music.

Misleading info about free Proseco. Told afterwards you could not have both deals despite being contracted by yourselves. Food was not hot enough and vegetables not sufficiently cooked. However, it was a birthday do so er made the best of it. However, they eventually honoured the Proseco deal.

Had a great evening here on Friday 10th Jan our server Jess was great v attentive and really looked after us nothing was too much trouble. Jodie and Alana were also lovely too speak too and made it a lovely atmosphere. We really enjoyed the food we had scallop and prawn starters then I had the beef and the O/H had the fish was all very yummy and perfectly cooked. Will be back again soon.

Our server,Kaz absolutely made the evening. We were a party of 3 to celebrate our sons birthday. He's in his 30's but has a low mental age. Kaz immediately understood without us having to explain . It always makes his night when someone engages with him and speaks to him directly as Kaz did ,she also used a bit of simple sign language that he does which was lovely. Even though the restaurant was clearly busy she made time for us,explained things well. Thank you Kaz!

We moved to the Wyre area, last year, and having tried a few pubs the River Wyre has become our favourite place. The food is always excellent clearly freshly cooked and well presented. On our last visit on the 7th Jan it was lovely to not just be greeted but recognised by Kaz, and welcomed back. Kaz is so attentive and really goes the extra mile to ensure you get the most from your visit. This time we celebrated a birthday and once again the food was excellent we were not disappointed, I look forward to returning very soon.
