Lord Derby in Fylde

Called on Tuesday 27th may afternoon. Long wait for food ,which was Luke warm. Wife took hers back to be reheated and chap said cold as if it was quite normal.

Went for lunch 4 people we had fish and chips very sparse, steak flat bread no much to say had 2 lasagne's both burnt 1with no meat, sent it back, they sent out another it was like slop could not eat it, they apologized and said it wasn't made on premises just warmed up cost me £54.88 not recommended

One of our go to places when visiting St Anne’s! A group of 7 us ordered food from Xl mixed grills to burgers. Did not wait long for our meals and they all came out together. Food was faultless all round. Friendly staff, great services, nice atmosphere.

Paul was lovely. Gave us balloons for our little girl and a nice guy all round. Bar staff were friendly, prices were reasonable :) would come again.

Dirty glass not once but three times give it a miss if I was you

Food took over an hour to arrive, was burnt, had to chase 3 times to get all of our order. I’d rather take sandwich’s to the beach next time

Good all rounder pub. Food and drink is good with a wide choice to suit most tastes, dog friendly too

Diabolical! Waited an hour for 1 adult and 2 child meals. Enquired at the bar, was told it was being plated up right now and then waited another 15 mins for it to reach us. Asked for a couple of complimentary glasses of milk to appease the children and was refused. When it came it was mediocre and no one apologised for our wait or asked if our food was 'ok'. In fact our children were reprimanded for getting slightly restless. After reading management replies on here to poor reviews they should be offering refunds rather than saying they'll learn from points raised!

If you want the bar tender to throw a wobbler because you had to talk loudly over the general noise of chatting and telling you not to shout at her then go in ! If you’re deaf or older then don’t bother . You lost custom tonight and tomorrow for food the match !!!!!

This was our first time visiting this pub and it definitely won't be our last. We had a really excellent meal and we honestly think it was really great value for money. The atmosphere was great and the staff were fabulous. Leave room for the waffle desert! You won't regret it

We Was served by Paul today. What a nice guy he is So helpful and down to earth ! He made me and my son smile 😃 and helped me download the app for green king !

Good for drinking and better atmosphere than most pubs in the area. Bar staff are often good, but let customers vape inside when people are eating or want to breathe without risk of cancer, they wasn’t bothered when I said something. Nice to sit outside when it’s sunny, but Fylde council allow private company to the aim street cctv on the pub entrance and customers drinking. It’s against GDPR for councils to aim cctv on a private businesses. Food quality is a varies between owners and current staff. Years ago it was hard to find a table because the food was so good. Currently often served overcooked and cold. Look forward to another change of ownership. Only order drinks now. Last two mixed grill ordered all food was overcooked and cold, the steak actually tasted off and was green I places. Barman agreed and offered to cook new order, but said no, he gave a drink. Never ordered that since. Often see customers don’t finish most of the food or complain. Ordered burgers last time, only two of us ordering food, mostly empty and had to wait an hour. Burgers were dry, bitter and cold. Complete empty inside and after ordering drinks a new bar woman went off to sit down and have sip her drink. Bar man came and asked what I was ordering. Said I ordered but went off to break. We looked at her in confusion. She decided to get up and made the two drinks. Glasses were dirty.

We came yesterday 11th may for lunch. We had to wait over 1hr for the food to arrive. It was very busy and I would say very under staffed for being such a busy weekend. We made an observation of one young lad called Luke who was working non stop multi tasking in the jobs needing doing. Never saw anyone else doing those tasks hence putting more floor staff to keep up with the demand.

I get it—it’s a hot day at the seaside, the place is busy, and there’s a steady stream of customers. But with over five bar staff on, a queue out the door, three of them focused on stacking glasses, and only two taking food and drink orders at a pace slower than a sloth, it's clear the issue here is poor management. We ended up ordering at the bar because the app wasn’t working properly as phone service was very slow. Even after clearly spelling out our order, what we got was baffling. Only 2 out of 4 meals were right. The other two? Practically the same order—both the chick & mix with two sweetcorns, fries, and chicken skewers—but one with strips and the other with boneless wings and added garlic bread. Should’ve been simple. Instead, both meals came out after the others had already been served, completely wrong, and then were taken back to the kitchen. One plate eventually came back out, mostly correct, but still only one. By this time, the first two meals were nearly finished, so we just decided to share and wait for the other plate, hoping it’d eventually turn up. We asked a server that we are still waiting on another plate (who was mid-delivery to another table) and got a dismissive “I know,” and then had to chase it up again at the bar 20 minutes later. They finally went into the kitchen and brought out the last plate—almost as if they forgot about it until we made a fuss. I have attached a picture showing that all meals have practically been finished at this point. The food wasn’t awful, but the execution was just ridiculous. The second plate had even more corn on the cob, at least 15 boneless wings (why? one serving already came with 8 as advertised on the menu), and another chicken skewer. It felt like they just threw whatever they had left on a plate to shut us up. As for the skewers—completely dry and flavorless. I’m still chewing on one during the drive home. In the end, it wasn’t just the slow service or the mistakes—it was the total lack of care. Whether the staff were overwhelmed or just couldn’t be bothered, the fact that two nearly identical orders came out late and wrong, got mashed together on one plate, and required complaints just to get finished is just lazy. A total farce. Waste of time and money.

we had the burger deal.i had the southern fried chicken burger, it was dry, and didn't taste of anything. The chips were under cooked, I had a pint of orange squash.there was bairly any orange in it.both of us said it was disappointing. for the price,there are far better places,at better prices than the lord derby.

Food was good but service was very slow.

It took them 1 HOUR TO DELIVER OUR FOOD. There was an old family of 4 who arrived 30 minutes after us who got served before us. Words simply fail to describe how disgusted I am at this. I will admit the food is good but a 1 hour wait some is simply unacceptable. So I am leaving 1 star out of the pent up anger I feel.

I just had the nicest steak of all time! With all the trimming! It was cook to perfection as medium, so it was nice and juicy with a good char to it nom nom. The kids loved thier burgers and chicken wings too

Had a problem with the parking as was fined, didn’t realise you had to put your reg in at the bar. Came in and spoke to the manager Jamie and he sorted it asap! Top bloke

We have dinner in this pub on many occasions when visiting St Anne's never again . On arrival table was dirty having asked for it to be cleaned waited 10 mins Order a starter and 2 main meals after 40 minutes wait main meals arrived before starters sent them back when starter arrived it was not what we had ordered .mains then arrived but by then we had lost our appetite will never go back again it has completely gone down hill . On requesting serviettes we told they had none how on earth can you serve food with no serviettes disgusting .

Just been for the rump steak on offer Monday - Wednesday at £8 49! Absolutely delicious and cooked to perfection. Brilliant service 10/10

Ok this place is good but today on my visit 29/04/25 was quite shocking i ordered a southern fried chicken fillet burger but it disappointed me badly i had found a piece of hair in my burger what absolutely put me off and i felt a bit disgusted and because i didnt wanna cause a scene or do anything else i decided to leave unfortunately i didnt take a pic of this even though i should’ve because it couldve been used as evidence im not trying to shame this pub

Didn't eat just had a lager. Staff good, typical sports pub. Plenty of tvs to watch football or golf etc.

We came Easter Sunday. The sun was out, the place was heaving. We had a lovely meal. We have to say about the young waiter working on the floor, Luke, who despite being rushed off his feet and being grumbled at he was happy and smiling. A credit to the business

When we first arrived at the venue, we noticed that the bar was covered in used bottles and empty glasses and there was hundreds of empty glasses outside on tables, yet we were still given our drinks in plastic cups inside of the pub.When lining up to order food, there was a long queue of people waiting to order and the man behind the bar stopped serving these people and served presumably regulars, who had just walked, instead. As a family of 7, we ordered 5 starters at 5 o'clock and was told there would be a 30 minute wait, but waited over 40 minutes for 2 to arrive and an hour for the other 3 to arrive. All the mains came out staggered- by the time most of the people on the table had by finished, 2 of the mains had still not arrived. The young gentleman serving food was very polite and always smiling, despite being rushed off of his feet and having constant complaints off of customers. From the moment we walked into the pub, it was clear that the staff weren’t prepared for the bank holiday.

We have had a lovely meal here, excellent value and a great atmosphere. Also free parking right next to the pub. Will definitely be coming back!

Have to be honest we have been to this establishment on a few occasions and not had a bad meal or experience...........that is until today. Lack of staff was evident from the outset with queue to the bar at least 15 people long. We found a table, and ordered our food. Was warned that the wait could be 45 mins but could also get longer. Don't know how it can get longer when the orders are done in the order they are taken. Eventually after waiting a hour and 20 mins we enquired how much longer we had to wait. Told they were just plating it up. 10 mins later the food arrived. It was lukewarm,dry and had obviously been kept under heat for a while. After a further 20 mins we asked where the rest of the food was as only part of the order had arrived. Again got the stock answer that it was just being plated up. Another 10 mins and it arrived and to say it was substandard is an understatement. We begrudgingly had to eat what they served us as with 2 very tired and bored children we had no choice. I cannot blame the staff as they were doing there best but rather a lack of planning with staff rotas as as I said at the start the lack of staff was evident. My 5 year old grandson even said he isn't coming to this pub again as it is rubbish.......... put of the mouths of babes. All in all a disappointment and will not be in a rush to return. Hope someone from Greene King reads this and can give an explanation.

Very disappointed.. so this is the second time we've been and it will be our last. Last time we was in it was quite busy and as you would to expect wait for food. Ordered the food and was told an hour. After an hour and half no food so spoken to the bar staff who told me it was being cooked and wouldn't be long. Another half hour wait and still no food so spoke with the manager and eventually nearly two and half hours the food arrived. Then today 20/04/25 we called in for food, again quite busy so I asked how long it would be for food? 45 mins to an hour tops. So I placed the order at 13.00 and just past 14.00 asked how long our food was off. The woman behind the bar said there is an hour and half wait. Obviously I told her when I placed our order I was told 45mins - 1hour, she said they was busy but will go ask. She returned saying it's just being cooked, they are short staffed, they are taking staff off the bar to help in the kitchen, they have run low on supplies. After an hour and a half wait our food had still not arrived so I went to the bar and asked to be refunded. I was met with attitude, pouting lips and silence, no apology for our long wait and no food. So if you do decide to eat here then be prepared to wait a long time and be given every excuse under the book why your food has not arrived. Will I be going back? Not a chance..

I went here with my family. It took an hour for most of the food to arrive which was ridiculous. Some of the food didn't even arrive because it'd been sent to the wrong table then binned. Also, I ordered a boneless wings starter that looked burnt when it came. We won't be eating here again.

Love this place! The Lord Derby in Lytham is an absolute gem. Super friendly staff, great food, and a lovely relaxed vibe. One of the best things? It’s properly dog friendly — water bowls, treats, and dogs are made to feel just as welcome as people. Perfect spot after a walk with the pup. Always a great time here! Our dog Rex definitely approves of the doggy menu !

Great pub in St Anne's, good menu options, reasonably priced drinks, and very friendly staff. It also hosts open mic events among other things, hosted by Patricia, who has been in the entertainment business many years and is absolutely wonderful, and Andy, a pianist who is just as fabulous. The Lord Derby is also excellent at catering for special event, I was lucky enough to attend when a birthday buffet was available, and it was fantastic. And they've got a dartboard and pool tables, proper pub. Free parking too, and ideally situated to visit while enjoying one of the best little towns on the Fylde coast.

Took a long time to come, the chips on my meal was horrible came with table spoon of peas. My dad's breakfast bacon only cooked on 1 side the sausage was hard over all worst pub meal ever had

Decent place to eat. Food was fine, but on 2nd visit the lasagne was supposed to come with salad but they didnt have any!! How can you not have any salad, no sirloin steak and no hot drinks as machine was leaking water all over the floor!

Good friendly pub and with good food. Dog friendly if well behaved. Can get busy because it is good! But also close to the pier and seaside.

Sunday afternoon we had to wait 50 mins for our food, we had two children with us and the wait was far too long! I had the Sunday roast, the turkey and potatoes were very dried up .. Won't be visiting again

Ric "The Hat" explains the saying " as different as chalk and cheese." The Taps in Lytham or the Upper George in Halifax are super Greene King pubs.This is not in the same company. Only one real ale on tap on our visit, an ok Abbot Ale. Large pub with lots of outside seating. It is, what it is! Good for pool, darts, tv etc. Pub grub.

I enjoy going to this place as they have a great menu for dogs and my dog gets really excited by going here more establishments need to cater for dogs as well as the owners keep up the great work The human food isn't too bad either lol

Food was lovely. Dog friendly and also gluten free menu which is always a bonus. Paul was hilarious, he came over a few times telling us jokes and gave our collie some attention which was nice. Highly recommend. Lovely atmosphere too

The food for that price is silly id of payed more. All the staff are super friendly, the dog absolutely loved it with a waterbowl waiting for him and without a doubt the cleanest toilets in black pool.

We were a family of 4. We had lunch. It was easy to order & our server Paul was soooo helpful & patient. Food was delicious. Service was great. No complaints at all

Food was bland, had to ask where our food was repeatedly i.e. waited at least 30 minutes for a dessert once ordered over the ordering app they have. At the time of our visit being a lunchtime it wasn't busy either.

Came to stay 2 nights in Lytham for paddy’s day (too quiet tho) we popped in lord derby Sunday it was rammed had a few drinks n left so popped back in today Monday had a couple drinks & ordered chick & mix for nibbles it was Delicious thanks to chef Mel & bar staff Paul (for photos)& Jamie for brightening up our day & your fabulous service also spotless ladies loo’s thank you

I had the rump steak, not up to its usual great standard unfortunately, but you can not fault the staff especially Paul who is always cheerful and polite. He's just sung happy birthday to a little girl who was ever so made up. Keep up the good work Paul. Thanks

Great food, busy nice atmosphere, love seeing all the dogs around too.

Really disappointed. Men's toilets were flooded ... pints expensive. Staff were okay. Green king is not worth it. It was better when it was Admiral :(

Food was outstanding well worth making the trip

Needed wheel chair access today.This pub provided this. We ordered food fish and chips with peas and I ordered a scampi with garden peas coffee and a Diet Coke. We had to wait almost an hour for food.This was unacceptable. I was not even told there was quite a wait for food.Because we would not have stayed as I had my elderly mother with us. My order was wrong because fish came out instead of scampi. Did go back to the assistant but she insisted I ordered fish.

Visited around 12 noon today, not very busy, pleasant staff at bar who took our orders for food and drink. Waited almost 1hr to get the food. No apologies, had to chase order. Food was reasonably priced, especially the Senior Citizens choice. Food was ok when it eventually came, but goodness knows how long it would take in the summer months! Wasn’t too impressed by the number of dogs allowed into the place, like a vets!

Waited 30mins for food which was nice in the end, the guy serving us was nice, but needed to read the room he tried making a joke which would be fine but we had waited 30mins for food and after waiting another 30mins for a dessert

Bumping up my review again based on my most recent visit. Everything was available and the service was excellent. Food was good and reasonable prices too!

Sweetcorn was still quite frozen, chicken undercooked, burger undercooked, no apology from staff. Bad guts shortly after. You could not even pay me to go and eat in there again. Bar staff nice but waitress couldn’t care less.

Once ordered food came quickly and did not disappoint. Had 2 mains for £12.49 Steak and Ale Pie and Hunters Chicken. Both arrived quickly, delicious, hot and very much enjoyed

Waited an hour for our starter. Now it has been another hour to have the main. Ordered the senior menu.

First time visiting. Great service. Especially Paul. Came in with my wife and 3 children. My youngest son is autistic and wasn't settled. Paul came over and spoke to him, brought some colouring and stickers, he even managed to make my son laugh! Great environment. Quiet but also very welcoming and child friendly. Would recommend.

Came here for some tea after a nice day in Blackpool. I ordered the xl mixed grill, and my partner had the halloumi flatbread with cheesy chips. My partner said she really enjoyed her meal. However, my xl mixed grill failed to meet satisfaction. As you can see in the picture, my eggs were way overcooked, and my steak, although I asked for it to be medium rare it came out more like medium well. After 5 minutes, the server came back and asked how the food was. I commented on the steak and eggs, and she offered to bring me another egg and steak. However, I politely refused another steak as I had lost confidence and assumed they wouldn't get it right again. After another 5 minutes or so, my replacement egg came out, which was cooked properly. However, at this point, I had pretty much finished my meal. The skillet it came on looked professional and nicely presented. However, after taking the meat off the skillet side, I was met with watery, soggy, supposedly fried onions. I've never been to a greene king before, and I don't think I ever will.
