The Peacock in Cheshire West and Chester

Annually go here for a friend's birthday where we take the function room upstairs and play board games. New manager is excellent, so much better than pr3vious management. She's got proper experience at running hospitality and cares about providing a great experience. The drinks selection and food service were the best they've been in the 7 years we've been going.

I visit this pub every year for a birthday celebration. It's had a lot of different managers over that time, but the latest is definitely the best! Service is good, food is good, and atmosphere is very welcoming. Looking forward to coming back next year :)

Visited on Saturday and Sunday for a friend's birthday event, as we have nearly every year for a while now and this was by far the best the food and management have been. Unfortunately there was still an issue whereby part of my Sunday lunch did not arrive, and a member of staff did apologise but said they had not charged me for it and I would need to pay for it if I wanted it. I said I didn't as I had finished the rest of my lunch, but then as the price paid did not ring true with the printed menu, went downstairs to challenge. The very lovely manager quickly resolved this, by recalling the ticket and demonstrated that I had in fact paid for the dish, and it had been put through to the kitchen, but not served. I was then offered the item, a refund or to replace with a dessert. I accepted the latter and the toffee slice was excellent! In the grand scheme of a larger 2 day booking, this issue was relatively minor and resolved easily by the manager. We are looking forward to coming back next year!

We had a large family gathering last week and the ordering of our preordered food was rather disorganised and extremely, painfully slow at being served. The paying of it though was much better than last year, each couple paid for their own instead of having one huge bill at the end to fathom out. I had a small piece of plastic in my Caesar salad which I only noticed when I was trying to chew it (it was the same colour as a piece of lettuce). Funnily enough a cousin last year that also had the Caesar salad found a piece of plastic in hers, we had no apologies for either plastic experiences just the salad taken off the bill (last year) and two free cokes (this year), I’d have thought they’d have been more careful this year when the people in the kitchen put the salad out after last year’s experience. I wonder if it’ll happen again next year I look forward to finding out.

Been a couple of months since I was here last glad I came back everything was amazing, the food was delicious and piping hot ,the staff was so welcoming, happy to have a chat and a laugh, cleanliness was second to none and the entertainment was brilliant...well recommend

Had evening meal there, as it was recommended to us by staff at the Premier Inn in Caldey Valley Road, as their 'restaurant' has a limited menu and an even smaller kitchen, which is unable to cope with a massive menu choice. The staff at the Peacock were polite and served us promptly, despite being really busy. The menu was extensive, the food was fantastic and served in large portions. All four of us cleared our plates but sadly had no room for dessert. We enjoyed it so much we returned the following night for a repeat performance and weren't disappointed. Would thoroughly recommend.

what a lovely friendly pub, we had a beautiful meal, could not fault it in anyway, i had chilli and omg it was sooo good, the atmosphere was so welcoming also, i found it very very good value for money, if anything foods too cheap, that’s something i would usually never say x

What an amazing day I had for my grandaughters birthday 20 of us food amazing totally looked after by all the staff. Highly recommend this place looking forward to our next visit next month for my grandsons birthday . Thank u so much to karen and all the staff

I Came here in December with a large group for a pre Christmas get-together. We all had 3 courses and the food was fantastic and considering there were 20+ people in our group, the meals all came out at the same time and the staff were so welcoming and friendly. The portion sizes were very generous and I will definitely be coming back for a meal again. Thanks again to the staff.

Great food and service by Karen. The meals were lovely and great value. The menu has a great variety for all the family. Chef James is amazing and very friendly. Karen was lovely and kept checking on us to make sure everything was OK. We will definitely be back.

Visited last Thursday for a family celebration meal (parents 54th wedding anniversary!). The food choice & quality was fabulous and we were looked after extremely well by Helen & Charlotte. The Peacock is always a top choice for good quality, well-priced food and the atmosphere is always fun & friendly. Any negative reviews should be taken with a pinch of salt, as they are just not a true reflection. Thank you as always - we'll be back soon :-)

I come to Chester for work and stopped off at the Peacock for a Sunday roast, I was blown away by how nice the beef was and the staff who served were amazing and very polite. A 10/10 experience I would definitely recommend and will be returning in the future for more roast dinners

What a great pub, lovely cask ales, tikka curry was lush, loved every minute of my visit, will take the kids the next time!

Entered at 5pm amazed as it was empty should have been a sign? orderd 2 senior 2 course meals, Sadly they would have not fed a child, the dessert came with custard in a tiny jug, i poured one jug on to a dessert spoon and it just filled it WOW!. I went back to the counter not to and did not complain but to politely asked for a bit more custard only to be told i would need to purchase it REALLY!. I politely declined only to met with attitude and informed that you get what you pay for and walked away feeling CHEAP. In short a rude unprofessional outfit...research shows it has had many changes and staff over the past years...come on owners get it together as it is a nice place just needs professional management as iit wont get by on local recomendation, we wont be going back .! 1/10.

Just on our way to wirral for a work do so popped in with group of friends. Great chilled out music in the huge open garden. Nice welcome from bar staff she was very chatty. Gave us some great advice on places in the city. Ordered few snacks that came out piping hot. Good to see plenty of smiles peeps having fun. Thanks again.

Absolutely awful, it was a quite time when we ordered food. When it was delivered there was one steak meal missing. Both steak meals ordered was medium rare. The kitchen well over cooked the one that had arrived it was more very well done ( would have been better on the car wheel than the plate). Then when the missing meal came out there was no onion rings or peppercorn sauce so it was returned, on receiving it back the peppercorn sauce looked like it had been under the hot lamp for some time and as it was placed down on the table the lad said "is that alright for you, is there anything else". Needless to say we won't be going there again or recommending the place.

After waiting the best part of 45 minutes, my curry arrived. Accompanied by half a poppadom - half? At best, the Chicken Tikka Masala with rice was average, more spice than actual flavour, soggy nan bread. Partners lasagne was overdone and therefore dry, chips were offered in place of the 'off the menu' garlic bread, the limp lettuce on the "salad" was served on a plate, too hot for it. Shame because we'd called into this place for a drink yesterday and had great expectations.

We went here for food as the brewers fayre is closed for refurbishments at the premier inn we were staying at. The food was terrible, if it wasn't for us being starving after a full day at Chester zoo we wouldn't have eaten it. Wasn't expecting top of the notch food for the price but was definitely expecting much better than what was served. Everything looks to have come out the same deep fat fryer which seemed could do with a oil change, one of my children's starters was veg sticks which were so dry and looked like they'd been prepped the week before, the others a "garlic bread starter" was two slices off a cheap garlic baguette. The staff were lovely and the place was clean so probably a great place for a drink, just wouldn't return again food.

Great pub. Lovely atmosphere. Everyone friendly and service was great. Kids bouncy castle. Good drinks offers. Free parking.

Under new management and back to the nest local in the area. Great food and service! Will be coming back to the Peacock time and time again.

Have not been to the Peacock for a while, what a change nice and clean ,pleasant staff ,great improvement on food what a new manager and team make . Will make it a regular place to go now, well done Greeneking!

Lovely beer garden, great food, great atmosphere would definitely recommend, great when the footballs on and great prices too
