Poor quality frozen food, expensive for what it is, no menu on the table, no rolls and butter, big signs on the front door saying we don't accept cash! What would Nigel Farage have done when he was de-banked?

I would not leave a review and prefer to speak to the manger but will make an exception. I took my mother for a birthday lunch today. The waitress was far from welcoming seemingly unimpressed that my mother who does not have a smart phone wished to see a menu rather than scan a bar code. So sorry. Pretentious? Anyway, the starters were fine but my mother asked her main course of beef be medium. It was served medium rare- pink. The waitress then pulled a face and assured us it was medium. It was not. So the main went back to be cooked longer as it should have bee. whilst my main - lamb went cold. I asked the manger to remove the service charge which they did. I was last here for dinner with my family in October 2016 when they made a mess of the starters. We decided not to stay for pudding and coffees today . A shame but here is a classic example of style of substance in my opinion . Get the basics right. Treat your customers warmly , serve excellent food to order and instructions and they will return. I shall not.

Avoid at all costs. We where welcomed as a group of 6 ladies to sit at the bar for cocktails. Ordered with a very nice barman who was then told by the manager to stop making them and walked away. He then obviously told someone else to ask us to leave who must have refused as he then did so. Rude, obnoxious man. Used the excuse that they where busy- one other couple sat at the bar, one at a table. 6 affluent ladies turned away who ALL work in high end levels of hospitality!

We are local Lytham residents and decided to walk 2 miles to The Grand for drinks and to check out the facilities for one of our parties upcoming 60th. After entering the half empty bar we were told they” are looking after residents and diners only” and we had to walk out which was rather embarrassing. We thought at the time we may have not been dressed appropriately but there were people at the bar dressed the same as us. Obviously won’t be going again and now off the list for 60th celebrations. We would rather go to an establishment that values our custom!

We chose to eat at The Grand because we have enjoyed many happy occasions there in the past and this is was a special birthday celebration for our daughter. We were disappointed with the level of service received. We were certainly not made to feel special in anyway. We were not given any menus and we were told to download a QR code to see the menu. We asked for cocktails, but we were told there were none. .The five of us were looking down at our screens, and the waiter was looking down at his iPad- so no eye contact and no opportunity to build rapport . There were issues with Wi-Fi . We felt that the digital menus were for the owners benefit and not guests. It certainly didn’t help customer relations. We ordered a bottle of wine which was plonked on the table with its screw top and was left unopened. Our youngest daughter had to ask for the bottle to be opened. We can’t fault the food, it was excellent, but the service was very poor and we would think twice about returning. If there was a bit of advice, I would give the owners it would be to put yourself in your customer shoes. We spent £450 for a table for four, which didn’t include cocktails. We felt like we have been ripped off.

Firstly I would like to say is we have been to the restaurant many times and mainly always a good experience. We had purchased my mother a voucher and she had booked for the 5 of us for a family lunch on Saturday 4th of February 2023. Firstly we sat In the restaurant area on the table we had specially booked and was advised there was a lot of building noise from the kitchen so best we sit in the lobby area. We were not advised on this when booking. The lunch menu was very basic maybe this was due to the kitchen renovations but again we were not advised on this. We all ordered our food. Myself and my father ordered the sandwich. I have attached an image of what it was presented like. Basic sandwich no garnish and at £10 a sandwich was disgraceful. Basic cafes serve better and not acceptable for a top hotel In area. The crisp we were just given a packet to put in the bowl ourselves. Items were missed off the order and we had the wait for them. After eating we waited ages for some more service and my wife had to ask at reception if the waiter could attend. Overall a very disappointing visit. I have emailed twice with the complaint and no one as replied. The level of the food presented was shocking. We said it was like a builders sandwich. It really disappointed us.

As a local, I dropped into the bar this afternoon for a drink with my brother. There were two other people at the bar and the waiter was speaking to them. After a fairly long wait, he came to serve us and I asked for a pint of bitter, he eyed us both up and down and asked if we were guests. I replied no. He told me he was only serving guests. I said fine and we left our seats to leave, he then said, and we don't sell bitter .... So, it was quite embarrassing. In this day and age the notion you would turn away paying guests is very puzzling, particularly as the bar was empty. I did ring the hotel on my return home and suggested to erect some notice to let non guests know if there are welcome or not.

Living local to The Grand we’re regular visitors and on this occasion the hospitality, service and food was to put it plain and simply nothing short of perfect. We enjoyed a two course meal comprising of a beef roast, a starter and shared a bottle of red wine. The main dining area wasn’t too busy and we were conveniently seated in the window overlooking the picture perfect views. The receptionist, waitress, bar staff and restaurant manager were exceptional. After our meal we sat outside and sampled complementary wine from Aix Provence Rosé which was most enjoyable. We couldn’t recommend this restaurant enough..

Called in for a cold drink to sit outside. Only residents. Doesn't matter the time. The hotel may have a residents only policy to stop walk ins or overcrowding but it is clearly embarrassing potential customers Having stayed in and/ or visited some of the best hotels in the world, my husband mentioned the Savoy as only one( don't see his review)I found being turned away atrocious. You have no idea who is walking in, what they are like or how affluent but more importantly it should never ever matter. Treat people with dignity. Disgusted.

Called into this hotel for a coffee a few weeks back and were told in reception that the hotel was only open for non residents after 12 - so we were in St Anne’s again on Friday 19th and the weather was lovely so we thought we would give it another try and enjoy the weather on the terrace! And it was 2pm As we entered the hotel we headed to the bar area but we never got there as we were followed down the hallway by a rude receptionist who asked us where we were going and did we have a booking? I explained that we were just going to the bar for a couple of coffees, she rudely told us it was residents only unless we booked lunch! The experience was very embarrassing, well both visits were! We had spoken about stopping at this hotel on one of our many visits to St Anne’s but on these two experiences we will give this hotel a ‘wide birth’ and I would encourage others to do the same!

We have over a number of years stayed at The Grand, as guests and more recently since our relocation to the area as diners. It has largely been a great experience, not cheap but it had a vibe. That was until today !Initially we had a problem with a member of the restaurant staff, which began with an issue over whether we had a reservation and where we could sit. This, unfortunately, lingered into the meal. No water, comments about paper menus, perhaps a little curt. But, we know how enjoyable The Grand is, so Hey ho, let's go for it.The food was okay, the wine was great, probably 5 out of 10 for food and 8 out of 10 for drinks. I suppose that in itself tells a story. On the next table we was a very pleasant couple who hadn't enjoyed their meal. They mentioned this to a member of staff. I happened to notice via a mirror that, that same member of staff referred this comment to the Restaurant Manager.Next thing you know, Brian was asking the man to leave to have a chat with him in private! The guy refused and at this point the Manager (Brian) suggested that the couple should leave and not return. The guy wasn't doing anything wrong. He was simply commenting on the meal, its quality and the fact that it was a bit cold ( it was). This then escalated, the Hotel General Manager came over and again, asked the guy to leave the table. It was embarrassing and very unprofessional, more Fawlty Towers than Cafe Grand.Never again for us, eight years lost by this really silly childish behaviour from Hotel Management, unable to deal with fair criticism.I am sure Derek ( the General Manager) will have a view, blaming others but on this occasion only the Hotel Staff were to blame, shame on you !

We dined here on Saturday evening to celebrate my Mum’s birthday and as ever it was superb! We love The Grand and always come here for special occasions as it offers something special and different from the usual restaurants of Lytham and St. Anne’s.We enjoyed an array of nibbles to begin and then to start three of us had the minestrone soup whilst my husband had the mushroom ravioli...everything we had was absolutely delicious. For our main courses two enjoyed the lamb dish whilst I had the vegan red Thai curry...it was sublime! What a dish! I enjoyed every single mouthful! To accompany our meal we enjoyed Prosecco to begin and then white wine from Sardinia...this is rare to see in restaurants so we very much enjoyed the opportunity to have a glass with our dinner. All in all it was a fabulous evening...the service was perfect and as ever the atmosphere was great...we’ll be back soon! After coming to The Grand Hotel for years, I left very disappointed today. I arrived for lunch hoping to sit outside as it was a gorgeous sunny day. No one attended to us outside so and after going in to ask we were told abruptly no food service outside due to strong winds? Drinks would Be served only. As we are the customers and we were happy to sit outside I don’t see where the problem lies? We are regular customers but after today’s lack of service and resolution we will not be visiting for a while. The staff are starting to have attitude and being rude to good paying guests!!If it’s a health & safety issue surely isn’t it more dangerous to serve drinks outside in windy conditions? Glass breakage could be a hazard? If it had been too windy to sit outside I wouldn’t have wanted to sit outside in the first place.

Had the most delicious lunch here, to start I had the hummus and breads which was out of this world and then a fish pie for main which again was amazing, for dessert I had a salted caramel taste sensation which was worth every calorie ! The only down side to the whole meal was the mixed service which went from attentive to down right rude ! Service and food should be consistent at all time and extra training would help. I did email to follow up on this after my meal but heard nothing back, maybe another training matter. Overall I would return but for the price I expect the full package.

Four of us went for lunch yesterday. It was very quiet with customers but they had very loud music playing. We requested them to lower it but it was still impossible to hear each other. So I went to reception and a stony faced waiter said that he had to think of other clients. I pointed out that most customers were of a certain age and would not be appreciative of the type or volume of the music . After another 10 minutes my husband asked them either for our bill or turn the music down. Finally they turned it down while we had our main course---then they turned it up again!!!

Turned away once when they said they were too busy to serve passing trade. Turned away once outdoors because we had a dog. (On that occasion you turned away an Oscar Award winner too.) No communication re: proposed gym and pool membership. Average food on the one occasion we chose to dine there and poor staff in the bar, chatting amongst themselves rather than having their eye on the patrons. Clearly it was part of the original ice cream carton. Initially we laughed at this, but it was potentially dangerous; it is just very fortunate that she did not choke on it. I was very disappointed at the ensuing reactions of the hotel staff. I asked to pay and simultaneously gave the waiter the offending bit of plastic. All in all, we waited more than half an hour for any response. In the end I had to go to reception to pay. The next day, I emailed the hotel to express my disappointment. I've still not received a response, or an apology. Very shoddy behaviour in this day and age and a poor end to the day.

We dine here most Sunday's, if not every Sunday as the roast dinners are incredible, however, I'm really disappointed today as we fancied a Gin & Tonic in the sun after a walk in the Lytham, we found a table in the sun and sat down.. we were then asked to move as we weren't hotel guests. I explained that we dine at the Grand every Sunday and would be no more than half an hour.. as we weren't residents or dining at the restaurant, we had to move inside.. I offered to order some food.. the waiter refused and asked us to move again as we weren't guests of the hotel. Two friends of ours were also sat outside, who also weren't staying at the hotel.. I asked to speak to a manager and said how disappointed I was that loyal customers couldn't be seated outside. He told me that guests staying at the Hotel may have needed the table and as they were spending £300 per night, they had priority. I argued that we spent £100 there every Sunday but he wasn't interested and dismissed my opinion... won't be returning.

Attended a party at this beautiful hotel, great food and lovely room for a private function but be warned you need a bank loan for the bar prices!! A glass of lager (not full pint) £4.50 and only one brand to choose from, a large wine £8, single vodka and Coke £7.50, glass of prosecco £7.50, this kind of spoils the evening as it's just too expensive, everything else though is nice enough, bar staff a little moody but catering staff very friendly

My friends and I dined here last night. We had a beautiful table for 5 in the window and we all agreed how luxurious and lovely the new refurbishment looks. Unfortunately, the staff are miserable and unhelpful. We were unsure as to who really was our server as it seemed to be anyone in the vicinity. We had to keep asking for more drinks and then there was a problem as the bread was stale. This was left on the table and we were made to feel that we were in the wrong. Waiters were going backwards and forwards bringing us more pitta etc when we just wanted the same focaccia but fresher. By the time all the caffufle with the bread was sorted, we had finished our sharing platter, so we cancelled the bread order. The waiter was unimpressed and told us 'well the kitchen have put it in the oven for you now!'I also feel that £25 for a fillet steak is extortionate, considering the only other thing on the plate is a few sprigs of water cress. My friend ordered hers with peppercorn sauce. It came with garlic butter. Rather than take it away, she was brought peppercorn sauce in a jug to pour over the top!As I stated, the decor is gorgeous, but the service lets this restaurant down. City prices without even a smile. We left without leaving a tip, as we all agreed leaving one would not be the right thing to do and we walked away pretty unhappy with the experience

Old hotel refurbished to high quality modern standards. A wedding venue when we were there but that did not detract from the experience Excellent high quality food and service, a little pricey perhaps and not much choice of drinks.

Spontaneous visit for drinks and food on a warm sunny evening. The hotel is well located on the promenade with landscaped garden frontage and driveways. They have heated outdoor seating areas for both food and drink. Inside the dining and bar area are well presented and welcoming. Staff were attentive and helpful. We ate evening meal and choice was good and food was better than average. The pasta dish I chose was better than most I had tasted in Italian restaurants. Had been a while since our previous visit, we will not leave it so long before our next visit.

Booked a table a month ago for my wife's birthday and specifically asked for a table at the window as we had been there on numerous occasions. When we arrived, hey ho no table by the window and after a lot of complaining that ruined my outing from the start a table next to a screaming kid.The male "head" looking waiter huffed and puffed at me and became a bit surly. Some of them tried but I was treated like a trouble maker and had to hunt out the staff for any further orders. I even left a tip, why, because I try and be descent but did not even get a thank you. I am so angry and will avoid the place for a long as I can

Another wonderful meal at the cafe grand. Eric at the restaurant and Jane on reception are very attentive and spend time talking with you. The food is cooked and served beautifully. I would recommend the Fillet steak which was cooked to perfection. The reception area now offers better seating where you can sit after your meal in a relaxed atmosphere which was nice.

Having eaten at Cafe Grand throughout various reincarnations over the years this latest is probably my favourite. Both the decor and the menu are superb. Couldn't fault the service and the food was delicious. Great choice of wines, highly recommend the Chablis. Breakfast is beautifully displayed with fresh juice and tea or coffee ordered from the waiter. Offering plenty of choice the continental breakfast is ample, but if you like us wanted a treat then the a la carte options are extremely good value and large portions. The eggs benedict and scrambled eggs with smoked salmon set us up for the day. It will certainly be on our list of go to restaurants again.

Being a resident of the area we have eaten here on many occasions and have never been disappointed. We recently visited after all the refurbishments had taken place, and wow ! What a difference.....I always thought it was beautiful before, but now it's even better, a gorgeous room for dining and a lovely ambience. Food was excellent as always...loved the new menu. As there were 4 of us, we chose the Nibbles Sharing Board to accompany our first bottle of wine......this was absolutely delicious . For starters ....Crab Salad, Scallops and Wild Mushroom Ravioli.....Mains ........Lamb Rump, Cod, Duck and a Pasta dish. Everything was cooked perfectly and well presented and tasted delicious, we couldn't fault anything. So after a few bottles of wine and lovely food we all departed, having enjoyed a superb evening. Staff, as always were polite, friendly and attentive. Thanks Cafe Grand !

We popped in for a drink with the possibility of having dinner there. The staff from reception to the restaurant manager and bar staff looked down their noses at us. We have stayed at some of the best hotels in the world, were members of the Gleneagles country club for many years and have never received such a pretentious and frosty welcome. We walked out !!!.

The hotel has just Ben renovated and the bar and restaurant area is now fit for central London never mind Lytham. Food was very good with excellent small bite served and then a couple of main courses that agin would fit any restaurant. Service was exceptional and surroundings very pleasant with decent sounds in the background and atmosphere good. Would recommend if you in town.

Visited for the £15, 3 course meal, had a small blip with the soup being Luke warm but quickly corrected once we said something, everything else excellent. I wouldn't choose to sit near the open kitchen again as found it distracting and a little smoky but on balance lovely lunch so I will visit again.

Had lovely Christmas lunch here today - starting with G & T ! Everything was perfectly cooked and well presented - Chicken Parfait for starters followed by a traditional Turkey plus all the trimmings dinner, then Christmas pudding complimented with a good bottle of wine ! Can't beat this for the price - staff very pleasant, polite and attentive, lovely ambience, really enjoyed the afternoon, very relaxing, were not at all rushed. Like the fact that they serve lunch from 12 noon till 5.30 - very civilised !Thank you once again at The Grand.

We booked a table in the restaurant at The Grand for a special birthday. When we arrived there was no one else in the restaurant and the very grumpy bar man showed us to a table then took some of the tableware away as they did not have one ready for us. The service was awful, the bar tender obviously thought he was too important for waiting on our table yet there was no one else around. Half an hour later we were asked for our choices and a waitress came who was very polite. Throughout the evening there were only another couple of tables dining. The menu was very limited. The food was good but it was so off putting as it was so unwelcoming and certainly was very disappointing for a relatives 70th birthday evening.

We've dined and relaxed in the Pavilion cafe many times over the years and the quality of food and service has always been HQ. We're very aware that the main costs of running any eatery nowadays is very high, but pleased to say the owners have kept the quality of food etc to the same high standard, whilst keeping portions and prices reasonable too. Always a pleasure to see well behaved doggie visitors here too, and grateful to the cafe owners for keeping yappy dogs (and kids) under control, even if their owners cant. Nothing nicer on a summer's day than to sit in the ' cafe forecourt' with a great coffee and some tasty food

First time calling at this place came in the evening and back the following day for breakfast. This place did not disappoint friendly most hard working staff who make us feel welcome from start to finish. The food was hot, fresh and most importantly not dry unlike the Bolton branch when we recently visited, they could learn so much from this place. The beer garden is great a little sun trap and on the beach front that is a bonus. If you are in St Anne’s then this place is well and truly worth a visit. Keep up the great work.

A bit of a wait for food but had a nice bottle of wine to keep us going, very reasonably priced. Food was lovely, steak was great! Got the order spot on, steak was well done and salad was fresh. The chick n mix selection was plentiful and freshly cooked. A cheap and cheerful night out. Would recommend.

Visited as a large group for a special birthday, dined in a private dining room which was lovely, waiters were efficient. I'm afraid it was the food that let Lytham house down, the food tasted lovely however we had to send several meals back as they were cold or undercooked . We did not want to upset the Birthday girl so several of us did not complain or say anything when food was cold, my beef wellington was tepid and my vegetables were cold, our sticky toffee puddings was cold and dry (like it had not been cooked long enough). Very disappointed 😞
