Breakfast - lovely choices, I had porridge with rhubarb and ginger compote. Couldn't fault it. Service was good and staff were friendly (but not ott - which I prefer). They clearly have loyal regulars too. Such a pleasant place to be. Seating upstairs, downstairs or outside. Magnificent view of the narrow canal and awesome Victorian railway viaduct. I will be back.

Visited today but won't be returning. Food great but service dreadful. Waited ages to order and it wasnt particulaly busy, waited about half an hour for food, order was wrong and waitress didn't apologise just silently took it back to the kitchen - she originally took the order too 🙄 correct order eventually arrived, again no apology. We could hear another waitress complaining about customers outside. Unprofessional all round

Dog friendly cafe , lovely views and the food was great . But the service is terrible! We waited for our order to be taken , we asked a waitress, she told up she would return in a few minutes. She eventually did and took out order . We sat their waiting , and waiting , 40 minutes latter no food ! My friend went in ! They had lost our order ! It eventually was delived 10 minutes later ! We had to rush our food , to get back to the village . Such a shame . We won’t be rushing back !

Called in for lunch on way into Uppermill. Food quite expensive. I ordered Fish finger butty. The bread was quite thick and the crusts a bit chewy. For £8.50 I would expect home made battered fish goujons but not 4 standard frozen breadcrumbed cheap fish fingers. My wife had the Turkish eggs which were OK but were served on top of the tzatziki which was fridge cold therefore making the eggs cold as well. Why not serve on the side? Service was a bit slow and noone bothered to ask us if everything was OK. I told someone anyway that we were disappointed with the food but they didn't seem that bothered. Loads of places to eat in Uppermill so have a look round there instead

What an amazing cafe! The breakfast menu has lots of options and is served all day. Staff were very attentive, seated us promptly and took a coffee and food order soon after which arrived quickly on a seemingly busy Father’s Day morning. My father and I both had eggs Benedict, although I had halloumi and my dad had bacon. The bacon was lovely and crispy and the bread looked like a fresh seeded loaf. We’ll definitely be back, certainly in the warm weather to sit on the balcony overlooking the canal. Big thanks to the LimeKiln team!

My partner and I stopped off here on a walk. Thankfully, it was just for a coffee and cake as the service was utterly shocking. Had it been very busy and staff were run of their feet then it would’ve been understandable. The staff on shift (around 6) spent the duration of our visit stood chatting and occasionally serving. I had to ask twice for our table to be cleaned and for something to prop the table up with. The coffee and cake were enjoyable but there certainly needs to be some discussions with staff/ more supervision and direction. A group of them stood chatting is not a good look and just appeared as very unprofessional.

Went today after a long journey to get there and the service was appalling. We sat waiting to be served for 10 minutes then as the lady was taking our order another member of staff shouted over to her that is a forty minute wait for food due to them being busy however it wasn’t even full. Great location but very badly managed, therefore we will not be returning.

3 of us went for breakfast, 2 adults and a child, we arrived and was sent upstairs where we waited well over 10 minutes for anybody to approach and take our order or offer us a drink, the tables where not the cleanest either. I had the pancakes and syrup, my partner had cherry tomatoes with mushrooms on toast, my child had 1 price of toast, beans, 1 bacon, 1 sausage, 2 teas and an orange. The pancakes were served without syrup, the bacon was streaky but not crispy so the fat was like rubber, all the food was very average, it cost £8.50 for 4 plain pancakes with syrup? That’s ridiculous as they where clearly out of a packet. In total it cost £34, I think that’s shocking to be honest especially since the quality was not great and the actual amount of food ordered didn’t even make 2 full breakfasts, over priced average food with a poor service experience too, Wont be going again.

This is a small, very popular cafe. The menu is varied with good options for a wide range of dietary preferences. The food is fresh and appears to be homemade. It's a good place to eat if you want healthy options or to just tasty, filling food.It attracts a wide range of customers including plenty of walkers. The staff are welcoming. My only reason for not giving a 5 rating is due to the building. If you are sat at a table between the main entrance and the door to the outside balcony it can be drafty and cold. The toilets are outside. They really need a larger venue.

The only downside is that lots of the inside tables seem to be reserved between 12.15 and 1.30. This means you can't just walk in from about 11.30 until 2pm unless you sit on the terrace. I’ve been visiting this place since it opened. The menu is excellent with something for all taste and the food is delicious. When The Lime Kiln first opened, anyone with dogs ate outside. However over the years, dogs have been increasingly present inside. The eating area is only small and fairly cramped. On my last visit there were five dogs, two of which were constantly barking at each other, another one peed on the floor. I was bitten by a dog a year ago which was a very frightening experience. When I’m out eating, I want to do so in a relaxed atmosphere. This type of set up is an accident waiting to happen. Sorry, Limekiln but unless you review you dog policy my friends andI won’t be visiting again. Without the dogs this would have earned a much higher rating.

My sister and I meet here from time to time - we both grew up in Saddleworth and is good halfway point for us both. We consistently have great food here. The cakes particularly are superb. I love baking and I often wish I had their recipes!! We will keep coming back.

We loved the Limekiln cafe, we stopped in on our way back to the train station. The staff were very friendly, and they were very accommodating about providing vegan options! The food was so good and the drinks were festive and cute.

The food here is always delicious, great menu with lots of choice of traditional and more imaginative options! Service is also excellent...friendly, efficient, good value and great thoughtful extras like the blankets on the veranda!

Called in for a breakfast on Saturday, only to find that every empty table had a reserved sign on. The time was 9:15, so I could understand that on one table it said reserved for 9:45, but I could not understand why I could not have taken the table which was reserved for 12:00. A member of staff approached and apologised, saying that there where no tables available, so I went elsewhere.

We were recommended to visit and we were glad we did. What a fab place, with fab staff and fab food. We will definitely return to this gem of a place. We sat outside as it was so busy, but staff advised we could move inside of a place became available, which it did. A busy place, with lots of choice and a nice atmosphere and lovely views out back.

Visited this cafe on Sunday...what a disappointment We counted seven dogs from German shepherds to spaniels at various INSIDE dining tables. Most of them looked grubby/wet and obviously been for a good walk beside the canal.

Great menu. Love, love the chunky chips. Right next to the canal so on dry days the atmosphere is lovely.

Been to the cafe a few times as it is close to my parents flat. Food is very good and mixed serving a variety of tastes. We normally take my grandson, who needs a high chair. Staff are efficient and friendly. Certainly one of the best places in Uppermill for lunch

4 of us, including 2 x 2yr old's. We ordered breakfasts for all. Burned sausages (yes, served to 2yr old's!), burned black pudding, burned mushroom, stale toast and I've no idea how long the fried eggs had been there, but they were far from runny. It was clear that they weren't cooked for us and had been in the pan / oven / hot area for far too long. They still plated it and served to two toddlers. We weren't asked 'is everything is ok'. We did mention all the above at the end but there wasn't much of response. Nearly £30 wasted and it will be a while before we're back despite it being on our doorstep.

My family & I called in at this lovely little eaterie whilst out & about. Our waitress was so lovely! Friendly, smiling and incredibly knowledgeable about the menu & even more importantly about allergens. I am coeliac. She brought our beautifully presented (and hot) food with a smile & a flourish. I have to say the hand cut chips were Devine! My son & husband had a wonderful pulled pork sandwich and my daughter had a beautiful lamb kofta with olives, flatbread etc. Not the cheapest meal but it was worth every penny. Thank you Lime Kiln & thank you to our waitress Mia!

Really enjoy coming to the boat and horses for a carvery on a Sunday, plenty of fresh veg to choose from, Lovley mash potatoes and roast potatoes, cauliflower cheese is also nice. Yorkshire puddings can be a hit and miss, sometimes you get a perfect Yorkshire, other times it can be a flat Yorkshire to a stale Yorkshire that’s been sat under a carvery deck light all day. Just depends what times you go and how busy they have been. Also different options of gravy. The breakfast is fantastic also at the boat and horses. Been so many times for breakfast on a Saturday morning. I like the selection of the hot breakfast. Includes all the usual inc black pudding, mushrooms and if you prefer a porch egg to a fried egg then just ask the waiter and the chef will do you 1. Service wise, the staff could be more interactive with their customers. I have walked in when it’s been really busy stood at the waiting station for 10 mins whilst staff have a chat when the customer should come 1st. Overall it’s better than toby carvery by a long shot and the price what you pay certainly can’t be moaned at

Amazing place, will be so sad to see it go in a few weeks. Love the food, staff are fantastic, and every time I have been they have been supportive, helpful and fully experienced. Considering some are volunteering, they are an amazing team. The food has always been way above average. Will miss this place.

I have visited the park inn on a few different occasions, and the safe always seem friendly and helpful. They serve a good point of john smiths and the food is absolutely beautiful. They also had karaoke on when I visited and it was a really good night everyone seemed to enjoy it and the music was a verity of everything the dj seemed to play for the audience. The new land lady was also there and she was so warm and welcoming and I felt at ease as soon as I entered. I would highly recommend this pub because there ain't many like this any more and it's a rare gem.
