Went for lunch and we were served my a waitress called Molly. Not enthusiastic or friendly. Had to ask for what soup and sandwich of the day it was as they should tell you when they seat you the specials etc. Food was overpriced and just ok. Got the bill and an extra £4 added for sauce which was already included in the meal and also added tip. I explained when paying the bill about the extra cost and she just said "oh" then took it off. No apology or acknowledgement. Then I asked her to take the tip off. I was paying by card and wanted to give her personally cash. Again no acknowledgement just gave me the new bill and never even looked at me. I said thank you and she never replied or raised her head from the till as I was still in front of her to give her her tip. Still nothing. I then said bye to her. Still nothing. Thought this was very rude so I didn't give her a tip. Think she was a bit annoyed that I took the tip off but unbeknown to her I was giving her a cash tip for herself. Will not be returning and would not recommend the food or service.

My friend and I visited the Vincent Cafe and Restaurant for breakfast and dinner. In our first visit for dinner we encountered excellent service and delicious food. So we went back on the following evening. We then decided to have breakfast on our final morning in Southport and had the best experience, helpful and courteous staff who couldn’t do enough for us. Would highly recommend this establishment and would go back when I’m in the area again.

We made a quick decision to go here on a rainy day and phoned ahead to see if they could still accommodate for us sitting outside because we would have a dog with us. Despite the rain, the lady that we spoke to ( Samia I think ) said they had taken all of the cushions in from the rain, but would happily set us a table up outside if we came, and she did just that when we arrived lowering down the rain guards and putting on the heaters for us. Samia ( sorry if I have gotten your name wrong as ) was absolutely lovely with us and we had a terrific meal sat outside with our black Lab. We were worried about finding a place happy to accommodate us but the service and welcoming was brilliant. The food was terrific as always as I have been here a few times before. Sunday roast looked amazing, sushi was amazing as always, and the steak I had was also cooked perfectly. Never had a bad meal here. As mentioned, the service definitely deserves a mention as Samia was great with us and made the day for us by looking after us so well. The staff have always tended to be very good every time we have been, but big shout out to the service that we had today from start to finish as it made for a great meal and a great experience for us. Thank you.

My dad and I had just stepped off our coach in Southport, the Vincent Cafe & Restaurant was directly in our sights. We were both ready for a nice cup of coffee and decided to go directly to the Cafe. The staff were very pleasant, took our order and brought our coffee we sat outside in the seating area, watching the world go by. It was very relaxing people watching. Thank you for being tentative ladies.

Beautifully decorated restaurant. Separate sushi section on the main menu. I opted for a katsu chicken bao bun as a starter as I didn’t really fancy a starter from main menu. Delicious. The hoisin chart pork loin for main course was really good. A little expensive but worth it for food quality and surroundings.

Waiter tried to sit us on a table we didn’t like and wasn’t very accommodating regarding moving us until we really put our foot down. Food was great, our waitress was lovely, really helpful and enthusiastic. Our wine was served in gin glasses. My friend asked for a wine glass and they brought a horrible thick rimmed glass, it might sound pedantic but surely a decent restaurant should have wine glasses to match?! We spoke to a manager called “Andie” who couldn’t give a toss and bounced off flicking her hair after telling us we were the first people to complain about it and giving us a patronising laugh. Average experience at best. The atmosphere and service in the beer garden at the hotel next door was ten times better and the food looked good too….

Pleasant waitresses but unfortunately not very knowledgeable. Waited 1hour for food, and then it arrived with a hair in it. We was also advised that the sashimi platter was big enough for two people - although sharing with a grow man was not going to satisfy his appetite. We had to order another which was advised 3/4 mins and came after 15-20 mins. I eat sashimi the majority of the time when dining out and I’ve had much thicker cuts and quality tuna and salmon elsewhere. This is more a British cuisine than a sushi bar - shouldn’t be advertise as this. Presentation was lovely but not quality sashimi unfortunately

My wife and I have eaten at the Vincent Café fairly regularly over the years with friends and enjoyed every meal and occasion there. From our experiences, it rightly earned the numerous accolades for its high standards of food and service, including recognition as one of The Times' top 10 coolest restaurants in Britain & two AA Rosettes. Given the current covid situation causing us to be on our own at Christmas and our very enjoyable experiences there previously, we decided to book with Vincents for Christmas diner. When we arrived we were greeted with the usual friendly welcome and shown to our table with much anticipation. Whilst we were settling in I noticed the cutlery wasn't clean, with finger marks all over the knives and a couple of spoons. I called the waitress over and asked her to change them. She did and apologised, but before the waitress returned I noticed the side plate was greasy. I brought this to her attention. She apologised again and brought clean plates out. My wife and I remarked this was not a great start to our Christmas dinner, especially in the current climate. Our first course arrived and the waiter remarked how hot the plates were and they certainly were. We carefully started our soup and both of us looked at each other and commented that the soup was just lukewarm. We again called the waiter over and told him. He apologised and brought hot soup, which was tasty. After we had finished the soup, our main courses arrived but they were not of the high standard that we were expecting. The turkey was 2 slices of what appeared to be pre packed turkey slices, certainly did not look to be carved from a freshly cooked bird. There were 2 undercooked sprouts, 2 roast potatoes, a quenelle of mashed potato, a slice of what I would presume was stuffing and a few other vegetables. All in all, a very small and poor plate of Christmas food. The desserts were nice and we enjoyed them. We then asked if we could have coffee at our table and were told that would be fine as we were the last diners for that table. However, the advertised mince pies did not accompany the coffee. The meal and the occasion certainly didn't come up to the usual Vincent's standard. Also, value for money was very poor indeed and to be given such unclean cutlery during the Covid situation was appalling. As a business owner myself, I know how important it is to have feedback. I believe that if people wish to complain about something they should do it to the owner so they can make improvements. I also know that Christmas time can be a particularly pressured time and sometimes there are just bad days. Mr & Mrs.We sent this review to the restaurant over a week ago and disappointingly no reply received. This is very poor indeed.

Visited 23/12/20. Booked a table for 7pm, early for us, waited for someone to offer us a drink, didn’t happen, in the end we had to call someone over to give our drinks order. At approximately 7.20 we received our drinks. Food order taken and enjoyed. At 8.40 we tried to order a dessert wine and dessert, told they didn’t have dessert wine and that we had to leave the table at 9pm. SO no dessert and no drink. When making this booking at no time were we informed that we only had the table for 2 hours, wouldn’t have made the booking if we had known. To sum up from receiving our pre dinner drink at 7.20 we were then expected to eat a 3 course meal with wine and vacate the table in 1hr 40mins without notification. Thought hospitality were struggling I don’t think anyone has informed the Vincent staff. Will not be returning will give our custom to more deserving restaurants

Decent menu with lots of choices, friendly helpful service from the point of telephone order, care and attention (thank you Milly!) bringing the meals out to our car quickly at the appointed time - food carefully packed to travel well - for a lovely meal at home - generous portions, freshly cooked, hot tasty food. Dinner out at the Vincent, Southport has always been a long standing venue of choice and a recent trip was a lovely place for a good catchup with friends .We took advantage of the #EATOUTTOHELPOUT scheme and the food was pretty average, unlike their usual standard. A table was booked a week in advance, however on arrival, the Vincent were not ready for us. Waiting for nearly 20 minutes ensued whilst the previous cohort took time to vacate the table. The venue was packed to the brim with bodies wall to wall and alot noisier than our previous visits..My usual fish and chips order was average at best, arguably on the salty side, without any offer of condiments..An overall average visit, made more enjoyable by the company rather than the food, but we put it down to the government scheme causing a large crowd of people and hence bigger demand on the kitchen, leading to a reduced quality of food served..#ForTheLoveOfFood #fishandchips #nhsheroes #foodphotography #nhs #foodreview #fish #crumble #socialdistancing #heatwave #pandemic2020 #stayhome #foodielife #eatingout #selfcare #foodiephied #doyoulift #outdoorplay #desserts #dietstartsmonday #carbs #eatingin #takeaway #yum #instafamous #pudding

I have visited the v cafe many a time, however the past couple of trips have been below par. Charging for a large wine instead of a medium glass and bringing the wrong sides, to name a few of the mistakes made. Perhaps this is due to poor management of staff, as I notice new faces on each visit. On New Year’s Eve, the portion sizes were extremely small and it was obvious dishes were being churned out with no attention to detail. The restaurant was not at full capacity either, so this was not a factor in the poor quality of food received. I was told that the size of the sushi plates had been reduced in the past couple of months as customers had complained they were too large. This I found laughable, as I had visited a week before. I was given a new dish, which was still lacking in terms of the usual quality. Upon ordering desert, the size had also been reduced for the New Years Evening. When receiving the bill, as with my previous visit I had been charged for the incorrect wine and a service charge. On the menu it stated that tables of 8 or more more be charged service charge for the evening. So in order to recoup extra wages paid for New Years Eve, the restaurant put this on the patrons account rather than the hotels. Thus removing their tips in the process. This is expected in London, however not in Southport. Disappointing meal, I shall not be returning.

Had wanted to try the sushi here for a long time and last night we finally got the opportunity to go for it. This sushi seemed stale, similar to the quality you would get in a supermarket. It was delicious but really didn’t feel like it was worth the hefty price tag! The rice was hard and stuck together or “set” in the way that it would had it been left for hours or even days. I asked if we were just unlucky or was none of the sushi made fresh and the reply was that thats how it always is so will definitely not be returning and will unfortunately have to travel out of Southport to find freshly made sushi. Having lived in Australia where good Sushi restaurants are everywhere i know what sushi should be like and this sadly didn’t even come close! The sticky toffee pudding on our surprise desert board tasted burnt and after cooling had gone rock hard the way it would after being cooked far too long in the microwave. This was a shame because i think it would have been delicious had it not been over cooked. We also mentioned this and were told comments would be passed on to the chef.

We were disappointed not to get into another local restaurant for lunch, so wandered around. How fortunate to find Vincent’s!Decor is warm and invitingly modern, with a friendly personable staff. Quick service, but with no rush. We chose to share the large Sushi platter - which proved to be a mistake, as the food was just excellent, so we ordered another single serving. The food was superbly presented, almost an Old Masters painting quality. The fish was very fresh, with an excellent crunchy crispy prawn as our favouriteOther diners had club sandwiches, which looked very artistic, with a reasonable portion size.My wife had creme brûlée, whilst I had cappuccino. Both were excellent, but the creme won! And, to round it off, there is valet parking here, if needed. We will be back soon to explore the rest of the menu!

We were so looking forward to our first Afternoon Tea experience at The Vincent’s V Cafe. What a disappointment! Less than fresh bread, boring sandwiches, egg, cheese and ham/tomato, bought in cakes and scones. Cake selection was poor and cheesecake is so unsuitable to eat with your fingers, unexciting macaron and stale-ish lemon meringue cake all served up with the most bitter tasting cup of coffee I’ve ever tasted! The waitress asked why we had left so much and on telling her of our disappointment just shrugged her shoulders, not recommended!

A sad review to post - hopefully someone listens as I know most people are thinking the same. We have lived in Southport forever and used to frequent the restaurant but now hardly go back and won’t be for a while which says it all. The menu never ever changes and there are no specials. My husband got the fillet steak and it was the size of an egg yolk and was £30!!!!! It came with floppy French fries and half a tomato and mushroom. We know good streak and this meal as a whole was no different to an upmarket pub. Sushi was really good as always, no complaints. I honestly think what this place needs is a whole new menu with weekly specials, fresh local fish dishes and seafood dishes, good hearty steaks. It’s sad because we love coming here but won’t be going back and will be sticking to the smaller restaurants who still focus on the food and the customers instead of profit.

Came out for dinner with my parents. Asked for a vodka lemonade with my meal where I was told I couldn’t have spirits if I was under 18 (I am 22). Although this seemed a bit ridiculous as I was with my family it was understandable as I did not have my id with me - I did however find it was dealt with quite rudely. What was more annoying about the situation was after this numerous groups of young people came in who were served alcohol and not asked for id. It ruined the night. The food took a while to come out but was nice once it arrived. Busy atmosphere good for a lively evening (if you can have alcohol!!).

Been here a few times over the years and went as recently as last weekend. Once again had a great meal with great service. It's not the cheapest place in town but you get what you pay for. The Sushi was excellent as always as was the house red. I felt compelled to write a review because the place deserves credit and is a great addition to the town.

We decided to pop into the V Cafe on a whim for lunch on Saturday, and had the sushi sharing plate. Every piece was freshly made, well crafted and delicious. The restaurant is fun and smart, waiting staff are efficient and unobtrusive, and the menu is really varied and imaginative. Definitely recommended.

Went to the V cafe with friends for afternoon tea, which is part of the Vincent hotel in Southport. The afternoon tea itself was very pleasant, the Prosecco delicious, but, when compared it to its competitor up the road, came up lacking. The service was fine, but we only got one small cup of tea each. The cakes and sandwiches where, for the most part, lovely except for one cake which was so stale it was crumbling away. None of us ate that cake and I mentioned it to our waitress when she came with the bill. The feedback we got from the 'pastry chef' was that the cake was fresh, it was baked yesterday, but had been stored in the fridge overnight and that was what made it go so dry! I trust no words are needed here! So, compared to our last visit sometime ago, it was okay but had taken a definite downward turn. Pull your socks up Vincent!

This was a little oasis in a sea of not really any good. We were up for The Open and where staying nearby. Note to self next time book this hotel as well.We arrived around 7:45pm on a Saturday night with no booking. They found us a nice table and explained we must be out by 9:30pm. That was not a problem for us.Food and service were very good. The sushi had dried out a little but still not bad. Overall a very positive experience and compared to the other options we felt like we had really done rather well.

I have to eat gluten free and these choices were clearly labelled on the menu. The scallops we're perfect to start and the seafood risotto main was also nice. Plenty of gluten free choices including desserts! Staff were lovely and helpful and there was a lovely atmosphere.

Visited the restaurant last night and was not disappointed. The starter of scallops was literally melting in my mouth, lovely flavours to go with it. Then the sushi was simply brilliant, the crispy scallop roll is one of the nicest things I've ever eaten, would definitely recommend it. Staff were really pleasant and helpful too

Came here with family after being recommended the Sushi, very glad we did as the food was amazing! The prices are steeper compared to other Sushi places but well worth the extra bit as the food is delicious. Staff are friendly, service is good and decor is great.Parking is on the main roads a few minutes walk away.

A must visit if you're a sushi lover! Went here with my sister not too long ago, and it was the best sushi I've had in a long time! Couldn't recommend enough!

From chic decor to perfectly done service and sushi wow. We didn't have anything including wonderful red wine and sashimi to sushi we all fought over. Just perfect adventure to world class for somewhat eclectic southport.

This is certainly a place you can go if you want to dress up very glam as you won't be out of place. We went on a Saturday evening booking that afternoon and the only tables available were long and high with stools. Although we would maybe prefer a lower table it would not prevent us sitting here again - though you need to be agile to negotiate the stools! The table was reserved well with a gap between both parties sitting at it. The staff were very welcoming on arrival and as we were early we decided we would want to visit the cocktail bar on the next floor. It was busy and we took the last seats. The music is loudish but the vibe is you are on a glam night out! Peach Bellini, strawberry delight mocktail and a G &T all excellent! The food at the cafe was very good. Both my sister and husband raved about the scallops and I particularly enjoyed the duck pancakEs. In fact all the food we ate was very good. My only suggestion - I had steak which was supposed to be served with a roasted tomato. The tomato was delicious but hardly bigger than a cherry - and only half of one and if I'd known I'd definitely have ordered more veg or salad. My sister ordered broccoli which had been cooked with sesame which was wonderful. Would definitely visit again.

I have always enjoyed the sushi at The Vincent but last night it wasn't very good. It was hard and almost a bit stale. I have had much better sushi in a Boots meal deal.I did eat it all as it wasn't awful and it was a sharing platter but very disappointing for the Vincent.

I usually have the Hummus & Focaccia bread, which comes with olives, nuts & lemon. It is a lovely vegan, substantial lunch, great with a glass of wine!

We visited for a birthday meal and the food was excellent quality and reasonably priced. I would recommend the flaming smores dessert as it's something very unique! Hope to come back next time we're visiting family

Myself and my friends tend to go out for breakfast quite a lot and today we tried the Vincent. When I looked at the menu I fancied the Eggs Benedict, I was not disappointed. The gammon was delicious, the eggs were cooked perfect and the sauce was Devine. The staff were also very attentive and pleasant. I will defiantly be returning in the future.

I booked a table for 5 people at 2pm two weeks before we were due to dine, we arrived at 1.55 and the table wasn’t ready for us. The waiters dashed about moving tables together and actually moved two diners to another table. When I commented on this I was told by a waiter “well it is only 5 to 2”, shocked is an understatement. We sat and ordered drinks and food but we were rather surprised that the waiters reached over us to serve and move plates, I would assume that as The Vincent portrays itself as a ‘classy’ restaurant the waiters would be trained to serve correctly. Two members of our party ordered the Stilton Welsh Rarebit with pear and hazelnut salad, I had eaten this dish a few weeks ago and was looking forward to enjoying it again. Sadly I was disappointed, the bread used was wafer thin and there were no pears in the salad. When I pointed this out to the waiter he offered to take the dish away or bring some pears, as taking the dish away would mean that the other diners would have finished their starter before we received ours, I opted for the bowl of pears. Again a restaurant of The Vincent’s calibre surely should have competent chefs. On a positive note the rest of the food ordered was excellent, just silly careless mistakes let you down and spoilt what should have been a fabulous family eating experience

My son had booked a table for 10 for Good Friday and had to pay £100 deposit and we also had to tell them the day before what meals we wanted, don't mind about the deposit but to have to choose what to eat the day before isn't good.We were seated quickly and drinks order taken, the only problem we had was when the adults got their starters the 3 children were not given their food as requested the day before, overall we enjoyed our dinner

We had lunch in V-Cafe on 19th April. There is an extensive menu with a range of prices. If you like sushi there is plenty of choice. I had the Feta, spinach & pine nut omelette with a side of sweet potato fries. It was delicious. My husband had the Club sandwich with a side of fries which he liked. The service was excellent, all staff were friendly. There was a pleasant vibe to the dining experience. I will definitely return!

Great location and modern inside, with a great view of Lord Street. Felt we could have had a huge meal or just a snack. Ended up with one of us having lovely high tea, and two having sushi. Some wine, some tea. Helpful staff and all very tasty.

I've been to the Vincent cafe a number of times now for meals out, whether it be as a couple or with the girls. Every time the food is spot on and can't be faulted at all. The service is 10/10, very polite and attentive. Staffs knowledge of allergies is very good too, which is always helpful. They do a range of gluten free options, and are also happy to adapt both meals and sushi dishes. The sushi is amazing! This is what I usually visit for. This month I went with my partner for a normal meal, prices are slightly expensive, however as a nice meal out every now and again, it's definitely worth the money. Can't wait to go back!

Two 10 piece sushi platters, two Tom yum type soups, one lager. £57. Soup was good, not quite Thai but interesting.Sushi may have been 10 pieces, the fish quality was fine, but they were microscopic in size, about a third of any we've seen in other respectable sushi places. The desserts were also expensive so we cut our losses and left, hungry and disappointed.

Four of us dined here on a Thursday evening, the restaurant had a great atmosphere.Being able to mix Japanese food with more traditional dishes was a bonus, 2 of us had sushi starters these were comparable to sushi dishes eaten at the best places in Tokyo. For the mains we had Belly Pork, Lamb and stone-bass, all of these were excellent and accompanied by imaginative vegetables. No room for a sweet. All this excellent food at a very reasonable price

Always have mixed feelings about this place. Some things are over done i.e. too much bread, over dressed dishes etc.Soft shell crab maki - pretty good & a decent portion. Not totally authentic but enjoyable.Haddock fish cakes - pretty good size & plenty of fish.Fillet steak - lovely piece of meat & cooked properly medium rare. But the grilled tomato & field mushroom with it were absolutely pathetic. This was £29.90 - so London prices & frankly overpriced for the location. I wouldn't have ordered it but simply didn't fancy much on else on the menu & a relative was treating me to lunch. It's just about OK - nothing more.

I've eaten around so I can confidently say in Southport it doesn't get much better than this. What sets this restaurant at the ground floor of the Vincent Hotel apart from others is:o Meals often have vegetables and salado As this is a 4 **** star hotel the chefs are well trainedo It's the only place here you can get sushi and there's plenty of choiceo The menu has a bit of everything: salads, carvery, Italian, contemporary MasterChef-style cuisine, vegan, gluten-free options, Indian

Once again, the staff of Clouds did us proud. We (Southport Friendship group and Crosby Writers) took a combined party of 47 to our Christmas lunch, and along with other groups, they managed around 70. Food was well served and piping hot, and nothing was too much trouble for those serving. If your son or daughter was working there today, you should be very proud of them. The same goes for Paula, and those working in the back. Thank you all for making our day, special.

Was getting hungry in Southport so went into Waterfield's for a snack. Tried the Lancashire pasty which was ok. Pastry was a bit thick and soft and filling was a bit salty. A bit pricey at close to £2!
