We had such a great evening, thank you so much. The staff were so attentive and made my birthday so special

Friendly pub would recommend to family’s and couples.

Booked a table, on line, for 20-15 on New Year's Eve only to find out, with a sign on the till, that the kitchen closes at 21-00 and the bar closes at 22-00. Absolutely disgusted.

Went in for Sunday lunch and it was fantastic the rib of beef was cooked to perfection 👌 izzy that served us was a lovely as always

Staff are super especially Leon the chef. Couldn't be more helpful when ordering our food

Amazing food atmosphere and staff. I am planning to go again in two weeks. Regular weekly quiz with great prizes and atmosphere. Can’t praise the staff enough from the chefs to our waitress. Nothing is too much trouble. I definitely recommend it for family gatherings canine friends included. Awesome 😎

Nice food and drink but a damper was put on the whole experience when our 6 year old friends daughter touched the buttons on the fruit machine and was told off , not going back again.

Really has to be the worst meal I've had for quite some time. A handful of lukewarm hard chips, a few tiny pieces of scampi and a spoon full of garden peas just thrown on a plate. The service was OK, but I think I'll stick to the other place in Formby... the food there is so much better and much cheaper

Great pub to have some drinks and good food with friends and family. Right by the train station with a good selection of real ales and lagers. Staff are friendly and helpful.

Good service from entering, Staff knowledge was really good and done with the right attitude, not the misery face as in other establishments. Food was hot and cooked to perfection. Haven't been to the Railway since we moved out of Formby in 2015. It will be worth the 5 miles to go back, which is what we will do.

The staff are fantastic very accomodating and friendly.the pub waa extremely busy but the staff served quickly and professionally with smiles . Highly recomend

This was my second visit to this establishment! Whilst my first visit the food was 5⭐ this time around I was struggling to do the same so didn't. The food was good and I ate it all, but for pub grub it felt a little too processed. Service was young adults. I didn't see or was served by a service career person.

Wetherspoons quality food; microwave specials. The red onion on my salad looked like it had been served on multiple plates over multiple years. I didn't eat it so if you go maybe you will get the exact same piece!

Very nice place, but it was one of those occasions when everyone else's food seemed better than mine! I had the fish and chips and it was ok, but not great. Everyone else really enjoyed their food though, so it was a very enjoyable lunch. Nice pub and great staff.

Clean friendly..good real ale choice

Been there with a few family members a couple of times in last 12 months and have always enjoyed my visits. A nice comfortable pub with good welcoming and helpful service and a good varied menu. Quality food at good value. The set menus and various offers are very good value for money. Clean and excellent parking facilities too.

Visited with friends for food and drinks. Can never fault the team whenever I come I always feel welcome and there is always a great selection of drinks and the food is always great.

I ordered the loaded sharing nachos for my self with the chicken on… however LOADED was a bit of an over statement. I had 6 small strips of chicken and the cheese sauce and gravy was very sparse and only on the top layer. I asked for more sauce and they wanted to charge me more for it. So I was left with a half of a bowl of dry nachos. Not great service at all. My sons meal was fine…

Went to the railway last Friday for drinks always enjoy our nights in there. Especially quiz nights the staff are always ready to help and make you feel welcome

Came in for a drink and was welcomed by the staff. It was hard to choose between the great range of cask ale but had to go with the trusty landlord Definitely come back with the misses next time

Food was okay.but the Cook was very untidy when he came out.allso was drinking heavily later on and not very nice language.will not eat there again conced about heath and safety looking at the Cook

Excellent place! Came with my 2 daughters, all the staff were so attentive and knowledgeable. I had the chicken bacon and avocado salad , it was great portion size and very tasty. My children had the kids nuggets and brownie sundae and they loved them . Great place to visit will definitely be back soon

Burger & chips eventually come but both cold, vegan salad missing half the ingredients, both returned & returned salad still missing half the ingredients topped up with sweet corn. Burger was warmer but only lettuce & cheese on bun got a refund thanks to the manger

Had a table reserved for 8 people in an ideal position by the window. Food, drink and service were all excellent. So good that we were there from 1.30 to 4.45!

Lovely wee pub in Formby spookily enough right by the railway. Nice beer, friendly atmosphere. Can’t fault it really.

The food was tasty and excellent and the female member of staff was welcoming and happy and definitely recommend the food but the male member of staff serving behind the bar could be more happy when serving customers

Good points. Buckets of atmosphere, popular, plenty of seating room inside, good service, lots of food choices. Convenient location for Formby railway station. Bad points. Music a little too loud (but it was a good choice of music). Can’t leave your car outside (although there’s plenty of room).

Came in after badminton just for a few drinks always a good night. Usually come in for food but just as good for drinks a good choice of real ales

Came here at the end of our walk. It's a very convenient place for a pint as it is right next to the railway station where we get the train home. I have eaten here a few times on previous occasions and always got the 3 course daytime special they do for under £12 which is excellent value for money. They also have a reasonable range of beers.

Called in after a walk through formby pinewoods, picked our own table food was very mediocre nothing that makes us want to go back, service was awful, bar staff couldn't place order correctly, the starter knife had an old piece of cabbage on it that had been clearly through the dishwasher so at least it was clean cabbage but still... urghh!!! & the waitress couldn't crack a smile, no check backs on the food even when taking the starter plates away no 'how was everything ' nothing!! No conversation whatsoever, she could do with a training course in hospitality, put our main plates down with one word 'enjoy' sounded more like an order or else!! Again took plates away with not a question of was everything ok no service with a smile quite disappointed

Stopped by after a busy day in liverpool for a quick bite to eat and a few drinks. It was good to see the fires on giving the pub a warm feeling. We had a voucher for 33% off food so couldn’t believe how good value for money it was. The staff were rushed but hassles it well and the food was served quickly. Looking forward to being able to use the beer garden once the weather warms up. 5*

It’s so good to see The Railway as busy as it has become. We have been coming to The Railway for many years and can definitely say the standards and food quality are as good as they have ever been. We often meet up here before we head off into Liverpool, and it’s location next to the railway station is as good as you can get

Popped in after our walk from Blundellsands/Crosby to Formby. WELCOME HAVEN FOR LUNCH & DRINKS (6) LADIES. We all commented on the delicious food and the reasonable prices. 😋 within walking distance for our return journey home. Welcoming accommodating Staff. Definitely return visit planned. WELL ✔ 👍 👌

The staff were extremely welcoming, the food was very tasty and the pub was warm and cosy. It's was our first time visiting today but if definitely won't be the last. We are going to book to come through the week as the deals on are exceptional.

Nice little pub, good atmosphere, nice food. Lots of options on the menu. Staff are lovely and friendly. Lots of outdoor space. Dog friendly. Good place to go with family or friends. They have a singer on sometimes on a Saturday and a quiz on a Wednesday which are both enjoyable and give the place a buzz.

If I could score this place lower I would. Food is awful honestly never had anything like it. One of the worst pints of Guinness I’ve ever had 0/10 will never return to this place

Lovely pub,lovely staff,cozy fires and nice food. The pub is always welcoming. Sometimes have offers on and they have a loyalty app if you are a regular and can earn points which is a great idea. Food is nice,we have tried plenty of the dishes always hot fresh and tasty. Last time we went the young lady called Nic was our server and she was very chatty and took away plates once we had finished. You can reserve tables but we have always managed to get one. They have two open fires which are on in colder days,very cosy sitting by them. Right by the train station so very easy to get to. A lovely pub would highly recommend

When we attended the above establishment, we were greeted by a barman who asked "Have you got a booking?" After replying "Yes!" and showing the booking confirmation email, the reply was "No you're not on here!" We replied "We have booked though!" The rude and curt reply was "Fine! I'll have to try and find you a table then!" After asking if we may have some drinks whilst we wait, The rude employee replied "Yes in a miniute, but I need to find you that table first!" After quite a wait, we were shown to a table that was situated in complete darkness and pushed up against a wall (clearly an extra table shoved in to allow for more diners with no thought for their experience)." We rightfully expressed dissatisfaction with the situation of the table and were greeted with "Hang on then, but I don't think there's anything else!" After a second wait of some minutes, another employee returned with "Number 37 is free but is as dark as here, so isn't really any better than here!" Fed up with being treated like an inconvenience when we had made a booking, we decided to leave.

A great night for the quiz and a fine meal we always enjoy out time at the railway formby. The staff are always friendly and ready to help

Scumbag of a place, will never set foot in that place again. Booked a table for Christmas day for four of us, myself my two Daughters and my Mum. My Mum was rushed to hospital on Christmas day afternoon after a nasty fall. We eventually got through to the railway to inform them that we won't be able to make it and the reason why, obviously our concerns were more on my Mum and following her up to the hospital. We emailed during that week to ask for if we could have a refund but we were told no we can't and if we'd of informed them in plenty of time they could of filled our table with somebody else, was the reply from them. Scumbag of a pub, keep away from this place, just to warn you if you pre-pay for a table here and you can't make it, you won't get your money back.
