Good local's pub, good beer not too far from the centre of Kendal

We booked for lunch (2adults, 2 kids). It was half full in the restaurant when we arrived but we were told it would be a 30 minute wait on food. We agreed to stay despite the wait and ordered some drinks that would fill the kids up for a bit (milkshake and smoothie). When we asked if we could order food we were told “I can’t take your food order yet”. I’ve been told about food wait times many times before in restaurants but never told I can’t actually place an order. I asked why and the waitress said “I’ve been told not to and I’ll get in trouble if I do”. So the menus were left on the table until they were ready. When they brought the drinks over we asked if we could order yet (20 mins into arriving), and waitress just walked off to find out. Eventually took our order and rushed us through it with no manners. The team really need some customer service training. It’s the experience people pay for, and what makes people come back (or not if our case). Previous reviews mention customers being made to feel uncomfortable and I can completely relate.

Best cafe on Altrincham high-street. They value equality and are very hospitable people. The quality of products is excellent.

Lovely service from the staff. Great food and a very friendly atmosphere despite the new management. Hopefully it continues to be a hub for the local community.

Friendly, warm welcome and hearty food in a cosy environment. Only one negative, what looks to be an abandoned serial killer's van in the car park which does the place no favours at all.

A last minute decision to eat at the Crown and a table was made for us. Service is second to none. Food was great A lovely family and great staff. The Thai restaurant can get busy, the reason is because it's Fantastic.Love it.

Stopped in this pub during a day out in the Peak District. Didn't know what to expect but this was an extraordinarily good Sunday roast. Everything was home made. The yorkshire and roasties were like I'd make at home, the mash tasted of actual butter, the vegetables were crisp and tasty, and the beef was thick and tender. 10/10. Would be in here every week if we lived nearer.

Came for an impromptu brunch with the hubby - yum! Lovely menu, staff were really lovely. Great coffee and food was delicious. Maddie who served us was wonderful. Will definitely be back.

Lovely customer service, however the food was not worth the price. Oversized portions, the chips were oily and so was the fish. Me and my friend squeezed the chips and fish and a bucket tonne of oil and fat just came out. There was barely any flavour. Don't recommend.

Gluten free food was amazing, crispy batter on the gluten free fish , even had gluten free curry sauce and gravy which most gluten free chippies don't offer , lovely staff , best chippy I've ever had !!

Came as walk ins. It was busy, but managed to get a table. Ordered the Sunday roast and my husband, the burger. Both were delicious and homemade. Best gravy I've ever tasted. Staff were attentive and efficient. Will definitely return.

Always a lovely atmosphere, helpful staff and delicious food. Called in recently and enjoyed the cottage pie, chips and peas plus a cup of tea. Portion size just right and thoroughly enjoyed my meal. Great value, quality fresh food served by helpful, polite staff. Great little cafe something for everyone
