My wife and l stayed here in our Motorhome for one night, we had no problems. On our second day we took a room before our journey home the room was well equipped and the bed was very clean, for the price, we would recommend this establishment. The owner was very welcoming and attentive . I noticed a previous review that gave a poor response to a stay they had all I'll say is you can't please everyone. Karen the owner for us was very friendly and helpful also understanding, our visit to the area was for a family funeral we all found her and the staff very professional considering they had all had some very sad news regarding a member of staff at this time.

We visited Rainow as tourists from 13th-14th September and attended the pub both days. On the first day (Wednesday) we joined in on a Pub Quiz and on the second day we both had fish and chips. The staff/owner here are very friendly and welcoming and it has a lovely local atmosphere. The prices are reasonable and the food was nice (fish and chips and a starter of olives). I would definitely return here if we found ourselves in Rainow again so thank you. If you are staying in Rainow directly it is the only pub within walking distance.

I have been past The Robin Hood, numerous times but never ventured inside before. So, when the chance came to meet up with some close friends who live in Rainow, I jumped at the chance. We had some beers - Wainwright’s Gold and the lovely girl with us had a large Pinot Grigio. We all are Fish and Chips which was really excellent as you will see from the photos. Great evening with very good and friendly staff and locals. Thank you for making me so welcome. I will be back…

Lovely walk with friends so thought we would stop for a few drinks, miserable staff, especially the lady. Expensive drinks for below average beer. I’ve given it 2 as it was cosy at first, until the miserable staff cast a gloom.

Whilst out driving during the Covid, we came across this lovely public house. This pub as your safty at heart, plenty of hand gel around, markers on the floor to stand on , the land lady was so nice and helpful, Two very cold beers were served, we sat out doors and then decided to have a Pizza....WOW it was better than any Pizza hut, it was served very hot, and a fantastic home made pizza, plenty of fillings...but served by caring staff following all the safety advice... I would ask not to miss this gem of a pub, great caring staff, great food and a stunning location....do not pass this one !

We stopped in Rainow for New Year and came to the pub a couple of times. We first came for Sunday dinner which was delicious. 3 people had steaks which were very good and the kids meals were great portions and were very nice. The owners are really lovely and very accommodating. It was very welcoming and cosy inside with a pool table and darts. The drink selection was great with a fair few gins to chose from. The service was brilliant. We came back for New Years Eve, there was a DJ and Karaoke (with a very talented bunch of singers). All the locals were so friendly and there was a lovely atmosphere. Thanks Jackie and Scott for having us and making us feel so welcome :-)

Phoned today to book a group of walkers in for April on a Wednesday lunchtime. We have used this pub many times in the past. However, was told even though we always pre-order if there were more than 15 of us we could only have hotpot for lunch!! Needless to say, we will do our walk from nearby Bollington where there are pubs who will welcome us and our £10-£20 per head lunch and drinks money! And they will allow to choose from their menu!

My wife and I walked over from Bollington with the dog and wow was it worth it. Wonderful warm welcome, gorgeous open fire crackling away that helped us thaw out and perfect ale of which there is a good selection. The atmosphere was lovely and relaxed but the icing on the cake was the food, they do tapas but we couldn’t believe how reasonably priced the steak was. So we both went for that and it didn’t disappoint. Perfectly cooked and clearly a very well sourced piece. The menu boasted they sourced it from the local butchers and we agreed it was a cracking mouth watering cut. Home mate chips really well seasoned tomato mushrooms and all trimmings. The service was exemplary and it was all so very reasonably priced. I’m not normally one for writing reviews but we enjoyed ourselves so much and felt like we got so much value from our little trip I felt I had to shout about it. You will not be disappointed and we will definitely be making regular returns to this incredible gem..

Had a brilliant decking area and plenty of outdoor seating. The one thing I could criticise is the play area (although my daughter did have hours of fun) is that the ground surrounding it consists on mainly stones and bare ground. Unfortunately, the room where we stayed was small, the double bed was cramped, the staircase to get to the room on the upper floor was narrow and steep. On arrival, even though the booking confirmation listed full English breakfast as included in the tariff, the proprietor told me that he usually only does a Continental breakfast on Monday mornings. However, after negotiation, a cooked breakfast was supplied.Overall, this small country hotel was below par and I would not stay there again.

Do you know how hard publicans work at village pubs in fact we had been up since 7.00am cooking for B& B guests and cleaning. We open for our customers from 9.00am, which not many pubs do. We are trying our best to make this a pub that everyone can enjoy. We have also been fighting along battle to keep the decking, which did take its toll on is. Thankfully this is now passed and we can get on with running the pub. As someone who lives in the village I would of thought you would of realised how hard we work and that we are managing to keep this beautiful village pub open. Where does it say that the fires have to be lit, even though they are lit everyday. We need support in our local pubs not negativity. Remember a publican can never be poorly or someone will put it on trip advisor that you look like you just got up. I feel this comment very rude. I know I have gone on , but I work extremely hard for this village.

We were unsure when we booked for 5 of our friends whether it was a good idea as we have no experience of the food of Ghana, but it was a true delight. The chef (I believe he was a guest chef just for that evening) came round to the tables but we did not get a chance to thank him properly. The service was gpod, the atmosphere was great and I would love for them to do something similar in the future. The family who now run the pub are doing a great job to revive this much needed venue in a quiet Cheshire village. We have not yet tried their standard menu, but we intend to visit again very soon. We were delighted when the pub changed hands earlier this year. We're keen walkers so regularly pass through Rainow, so it's perfect for lunch and a pint. There have been some good improvements - particularly with the addition of an amazing sun deck out the back. The food is quite good and very reasonably priced but service can be quite slow. We were however really disappointed yesterday (Sunday) when we tried to order food at 2.20pm to be told that they "weren't doing it anymore as they had been too busy". They wouldn't even make us a ham sandwich! Not sure I'll convince my husband to go again, which is a shame.

I have visited the Robin Hood on occasion for the past twenty five years. I have seen the pub change hands more than a few times and have to say that The Price family, And Joe... have increased the general atmosphere and feel good factor of the pub in general. As for the amenities, there has obviously been an incredible amount of effort and investment put in to the appearance and general layout of the building, most prominently the beer garden which has changed from a humble almost cliché "table out the back" into a beautiful decking area. Complemented by an outdoor bar (available for special events) completely revamped with a nostalgic British flare, with ample space and tables galore. Food is excellent, especially "pie night" which is both affordable and not intimidatingly large. I wish them all the best of luck and will continue to enjoy the exceptional service for as long as they are in business. Thank you for a great night!

Have been here a few times but it now has a new landlord who is very friendly and has improved many things including an excellent outside deck area. On my previous visits I always enjoyed the Wainwright but that seems to have gone along with two of the real ale hand pumps. Food seems less pretentious than before - I had a curry from the Specials list. Sadly it was more of a stew than a curry (don't expect an Indian style curry). The worst thing about the pub was a small group of locals who completely blocked access to the small bar. Despite my polite requests and attempts to get to the bar being obvious they wouldn't move an inch. It was clearly their territory and they were determined to make you feel really unwelcome in coming between them to try to get served. I barged my way through them but they carried on talking through me as though I was getting in their way. I guess that this pub is fine for locals but if the new landlord wants his pub to appeal to visitors then he needs to educate some of his regulars in basic manners.

We booked a table there, and opened a tab. The only thing on offer were pies - which they didn't tell us when we booked. So no starters or puddings on offer Not really what we wanted, but as there was no alternative, and the landlord told us the pies were amazing, we had them. The chicken and ham filling was very fatty, yet the chicken dry, and had rather a large bone in it. The greens beans on the side limp and the pie top soggy and unappealing. When we came to pay, we were told they didn't take cards. Fortunately we just had enough money between us, as the bill came to around £40 for the two of us. I pointed out that to the landlord (who had previously been friendly) that we should have been told at time of opening the tab. He said it was written in big letters on the way in, but we didn't see it when we looked on our way out. They were also not able to provide a receipt, as the till was not working, so gave us a hand written scrat with no VAT number on it.(Apparently not registered yet). From then on the staff ignored us, and were generally unfriendly. It seems to be the only pub for miles, maybe why it has survived, but I don't recommend going there for the food when there is plenty of choice only a couple of miles down the road in Macclesfield.

Had a chequered history of late but now a friendly and welcoming team have taken over and made changes with good beer and food. New outside deck elevated for the view is popular and the place has been thoroughly cleaned. A nice place to visit

Just returned from a weekend at the Robin Hood. The new owners have already improved the accommodation and could not do enough to make our stay a good one. Breakfast was great - we had cereals followed by a full English with juices and coffee. The beds were very comfortable so we both slept well. We had 2 meals here and both were good.... as well as the beer (real ale). Please ignore any negative comments as they relate to previous owners - not to the lovely family running it now.

Great local country pub. Always good for a pie & a pint if you are out walking in the local countryside which is beautiful.

Wonderful stay at this warm and friendly little pub. You feel an immediate welcoming sense of community spirit as soon as you enter. The new landlady and landlord went out of their way to make us feel at home in their newly furnished and decorated rooms. He even drove us to our party when we couldn't get a taxi! Super full english too. We wish you every success.

The new family at the pub can't do enough for you. It was a lovely stay with amazing breaky, they even fed our children as they appeared with grandad the next day. We will be back. We have high hopes for the food and we are sure the new landlords will make it a success.

We stayed at the Robin Hood over two nights - 20 and 21st February. We have stayed several times before. However, this was definitely our worst experience. On the first morning the chef arrived late to prepare breakfast ( we understood as there had been a light fall of snow). However, this happened again this morning. The chef had not shown up by 9.30. As we had a three hour journey we made our disappointment clear to the owner. He did apologise and blame the chef for not opening up and gave us money towards our breakfast. The meal we had on Friday and the late breakfast on the first morning were good. The owner asked us for our keys to the complex to try to call the chef - surely an organisational issue? The bed was not made or towels replaced after our first evening. Cups and tea/coffee had not been replenished. The bed was also in a poor state - it wont last much longer. How disappointing that the pub/restaurant looks so shabby. We had a meal in a pub in nearby Bollington. Here the fire was roaring and verging on too hot. The Robin Hood is a country pub but sadly is missing any warmth. This venue has changed hands many times. These people need to take a serious look at organisation, welcome and ambience within the pub/restaurant.We wish them well whatever they decide to do - however, we won't be returning to this venue.

Called in for Sunday lunch expecting a Carvery but no longer available so we ordered beef roast from the menu. The meat was tough and inedible and the vegetables nearly raw. Dirty cutlery and slow service. All very disappointing especially as we were out to celebrate a birthday. We asked for a refund for the food which we did get.

I must echo the comments of the previous guy. We arrived on Monday lunchtime for a spot of lunch after walking in the village and unfortunately it was the only day that they did not serve food, however the new Landlord, Jim, said that he would happily make a sandwich for both of us which he did, not something a lot would do. Fantastic service!! Great views and lovely warm open fires. Well done and good luck Jim I will be back.

Some places don't need to be flash when the hospitality is this good. Jim our landlord and host had only taken over the place 2 weeks prior but the level of commitment he showed to us made us feel so comfortable - and willing to go back.We were arriving NYE after the kitchen was going to close at 5... but he paid the cook the extra hour to accommodate us - so sat down to a fantastic steak dinner before the nights revelries. Later that night when we returned in the wee small hours, the pub was still open so we grabbed a beer, only to be presented with 2 bowls of steaming hot, homemade chicken and chorizo stew to accompany them. On the house and delicious. You can't buy service like that. The Breakfast was plentiful, the room was clean and comfy and the location was ideal for exploring the Peak District. Lovely pub, lovely stay. Fully recommended.

I feel i should mention that the food and ambiance of this pub is lovely. However whilst tucking into a lovely steak baguette and my companion having fish and chips. The staff (Management) started having an all out family row, language was not pleasant. and to be honest we feel insulted that they felt that this is acceptable in front of customers. absolutely shocking. there is a place and a time to air your dirty laundry, and that in not in a PUBLIC HOUSE. we will not be back....

This place has a vast amount of things for children to play on. However don’t expect to get food quick- they have two cage areas but one is never open and the other has a constant huge queue because the staff take forever! Even if you want drinks you have to queue with the food and last time we queued for 25 minutes! Ridiculous when you have children to supervise and feee!

The most appalling 'meal' and service that I have ever been subjected to. We ordered steak and ale pie and this was brought out to us and placed on our table and described as a pie. However, there was absolutely no pastry, just a bit of gravy in a dish. When I called the waiter back he said 'to be honest, we've ran out of pastry' - are these people for real? To add insult to injury, the manager actually tried to charge us for the pies we never received!!!! Shambolic and not for the first time, but definitely for the last. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME/MONEY!!!!

Average food more like a pub, raw onion in the scotch egg bhaji, bang bang cauliflower poor, fish and chips were tiny and fish dry. So over priced for below average food.
