I’m giving 5 stars simply because food was excellent and so was service. A lovely place to eat. Might not be cheapest but I’d say it was value for money based on quality. A small gripe which has considered dropping a star for but decided on balance not to… if you have an americano be aware the two sizes have been he same number of shots of coffee in them so you’re paying extra to dilute your coffee with water. I had the smaller size and found it to be a little weak for my taste (I do like very strong black coffee though). The larger size would have been too weak and why charge for a little more water? A small gripe easily solved by sticking an extra shot in the larger cup size.

Really enjoyed having a little stop at this cafe for a drink. In the centre of town just off the main area it’s big enough for maybe 25 people with various tables inside and out. Toilets on site and it’s wheelchair accessible too. They allowed our dog in as he was well behaved. Lovely service and very friendly. We had a couple of cream teas with great clotted cream and home made scones - it was a great time thanks

Just fancied nice sandwich n cake whilst in Nantwich and always used to visit Ginger and pickles regularly in the past. Sadly our experience was very lacking. Ham and cheese melt was overloaded with dijon mustard so that was all we could taste, very little cheese-neither of us ate any of the sandwich. We ordered chocolate cake to share but once again it was disappointing, stale and very dry. Coffee latte was fine. At first we asked for afternoon tea but told we had to pre-order, never noticed anything on the menu. Only if ordering vegan. I have to say how dirty the place was, skirting boards were filthy and paintwork chipped, whole place was very untidy and cramped. We noticed one of the servers come through with a teaspoon for table nearby and he wiped it clean with his hand! No health and safety there.

Hadn’t been to ginger and pickles for ages and was excited to go back as I always used to love it there. But the male member of staff was very rude and blunt with us. Also the prices are very high for what it is. The toasties are £10 and no longer come with crisps/chips as a side. I wouldn’t mind this price if the portions were decent but there wasn’t much filling. The vanilla iced latte was way too syrupy could barely taste the coffee. However the younger waitress with brown hair was lovely and friendly.

We came here for afternoon tea as a party of 6. The place is absolutely charming, the decor and the little touches around the place made it a lovely experience. The afternoon tea was delicious and reflected the cost. I preferred the cakes to the sandwiches, I felt the bread could have been softer. One afternoon tea tier served 3 of us and we had plenty of cakes to take home. All in all a lovely place and a very pleasant afternoon. Thank you

My daughter and l went for a coffee, the cafe was very busy but we were still made to feel welcome. We returned later for lunch where again the staff were wonderful even though busy still went above and beyond to make you welcome. We also shopped at The Bakehouse across the road where the incredible delicious pastries are baked to eat in the cafe and yes, the staff are just as friendly there and extremely helpful. Thank you Heather for your kindness 🤗. It’s such a refreshing change to see such helpful staff where you feel comfortable and nothing too much trouble, there are so many eating places now where staff can’t be bothered to speak to you let alone help you, we will definitely be returning to this treasure and the Bakery and so will our friends it’s a one off for sure. Had to return here for their amazing doorstop bacon sandwiches and pot of exquisite tea. The homemade whole grain bread was like candy floss in that it compressed into a soft delicious texture, even the thick crusts melted in the mouth. The butter oozed into the thick cut best quality bacon to create the best bacon sandwich we have ever tasted. The loose leaf tea was served in a large ceramic teapot and reminded us of how tea should really taste. The service is friendly and quick and the overall atmosphere in the cafe is lovely and welcoming. Please visit, the rest of the menu looked delicious as well, with of course vegetarian and vegan options too.

First visit to Ginger and Pickles since the refit and we were disappointed. We visit Nantwich about twice a year and always go for coffee or breakfast there. I sat in a table in the window, which was nice, but there was a Bluetooth speaker next to me that kept cutting out. It was really irritating so in the end I disconnected it. Ordered the oatcakes with sausage and cheddar. The cheese was nice but the sausage was really dry, overcooked and had clearly been reheated. Considering all the beautiful farm shops around, it would expect a fantastic fresh sausage. The coffee was nice and the staff friendly. We really preferred it before the refit and won’t be returning

Having been a regular customer for years I wanted to leave a review to say how disappointing the new set up and menu is. We’ve always loved visiting Ginger and Pickles but the new arrangement has hardly any tables suitable for a family of four and what there is is situated far too close to other tables. We usually visit with our dog but there’s no longer any room for him to sit under the table and I don’t think it’s fair on other diners to have him forced to sit so close to their tables. This was not a problem with the old arrangement as there was a suitable distance between tables. The ‘bench’ seat making up the seating for the tables in the back room is so narrow it is uncomfortable. The new menu is smaller than the old one and some of my favourites have been removed. Some of the friendliest members of staff (Maria, for example) who I have always enjoyed chatting with are on the takeaway only side now. All round a very disappointing new set up and I don’t think we will be back.

Ginger and Pickles is our favourite place to eat in Nantwich. We make a 50 mile round trip to visit Nantwich regularly. We always tell our friends to go to Ginger and Pickles. We are visiting Nantwich this Saturday with 4 friends. I rang to book a table, as it is popular and busy and knew we would struggle to get a table for 6. However I was extremely disappointed to be told they don't take bookings at weekends unless it's afternoon tea, saying they prioritise these. I am struggling to understand how a table for 6 for lunch would be less profitable than a table for afternoon tea. Feeling very disappointed UPDATE Thank you for responding Matthew. We did call in and managed to get a table for 6. The service wasn't the best as food came at different times and one couple had nearly finished by the time the 3rd couples food was brought out. It was madly busy. However the food was delicious and we all enjoyed it. Our friends said they would visit again due to the food being so good and we will also visit again

Visited here for the first time in the new part of the tea room and was extremely disappointed with the uninviting atmosphere, lack of furnishings and very loud music. We had to ask for a menu and ask how we go about viewing / ordering cakes, it just seemed a bit disorganised. The coffees were mediocre, being luke warm and the flat white half froth and half coffee (and it wasnt a big cup as it was); the cinammon toast was very strange certainly not what I expected - it was just a very sweet spread, spread on toast. We regularly visit Ginger & Pickles in Byley where the food, service and quality has always been excellent. We both felt very disappointed as it used to be such a cosy and inviting place to visit.

Dreadful, absolutely dreadful. I was very much looking forward to visiting G&P after their refit. It was awful. The seating now takes place in the former Bakehouse. Too many tables squashed in on top of each other. I practically sat on the lap of the person next to me. Not a relaxing inviting experience. Despite the large window, it was very drab inside. Plus, very impractical for prams and pushchairs. The menu has been halved at least. No longer the great selection of yummy food. All I heard the Waiter say was 'no, you can't have that, we're working off the new menu now!'. Obviously, folk like myself wondering where their favourite nibble had gone. We were made to feel like very difficult Customers for asking for a little tweet to the menu. The whole experience was so disappointing. We won't be returning.

I had to show the booking to prove it was for midday then made to wait outside in the cold until we were finally seated in a tiny table right by the door. It is so squashed there was barely room for a plate and cup on the table. Door continually opening and closing made us very cold. I think they have packed in far too many tables for comfort. I recently booked the private room in the cafe for a small function. It was booked well in advance and paid for in full. One week before the event, I got a phone call from a member of staff telling me they had decided to renovate the cafe. It would open on the day of my booking but the private space was no longer available. I had bought room decorations and banners which I would no longer be able to use as we would be placed in the main cafe. We would not have the privacy we had booked and the event just would not be the same. I have spent the last 2 days frantically trying to find another suitable venue at the last minute which by some miracle, I have managed to do. Then, when I contacted the G&P team to cancel, I was told that I had been given incorrect information and there would be an alternative private space available. I am really disappointed with the service I recieved. I understand mistakes can be made but this is really unacceptable. I would not recommend booking for an important event as they are clearly unreliable. On a positive note, a full refund was provided quickly when I requested it.

We visit Nantwich every couple of months and discovered Ginger and Pickles last year. I felt I had to write a review after our visit yesterday. It was a freezing cold day and we walked in to warmth- I sat by the radiator which was bliss! Although the cafe was busy, we didn’t have to wait too long for our order to arrive. I had the homemade tomato soup, which was the nicest I have ever tasted. My husband chose the club sandwich, which he always does, and enjoyed it very much. Would not hesitate to recommend this place. Only downside is that it is unsuitable for the less mobile, being situated at the top of a steep staircase and the loo might be difficult to negotiate!

They didn’t listen to Dietary needs. I’m sensitive to cheese, it makes sick. Plus I don’t like butter or any spreads on my sandwich’s. They were told this. £22.00 is rather a lot of money. When I could not eat any of the sandwiches. I only had two scones and one slice of cake. If you are in a group, and can’t make it. Ie poorly you still have too pay for it! Which I feel is not customer friendly. They could have refunded the £22.00 pounds. Because everyone else’s was there. It difficult I know, but for one out of the group who couldn’t make, because of illness. I feel it not fair! You wouldn’t pay if you were poorly, and couldn’t get your hair done at a salon! Also the stairs are very steep and unsafe, plus I couldn’t use the toilet, it not disabled friendly!

Or you can just eat at the restaurant as normal. Or you can mix the two ... which we did. The almond croissants are to die for! Usually a sizeable item from a bakery is a mountain of stodge. Never again! I had eaten at Ginger & Pickles for many years, from their first shop in Nantwich, which used to be great, to their other a shops in Tarpoley and Lowes Farm. Ginger & Pickles had a great brand and by all accounts won some awards a while back, but their expansion seems to have destroyed the very ethos they started with. Nantwich has changed beyond all recognition and has increasingly gone down hill with staff and food. Lowes Farm is the worst, where I found the staff just rude, the chef looking as though he needed a good wash, we left most of the food and Tarpoley staff not very friendly although the food was passable but not up to th eold G&P standard. Happy not the ever venture to Lowes farm or Tarpoley again, I went back the Nantwich to see if it had improved...sadly not. It was as though we were putting the staff out by being there. The service was slow at best, not a smile from anyone and the food was mediocre, the welcome was completely not existent. It is such a shame, as I used to sing the praises of Ginger & Pickles Nantwich for some time, however, as happens so often, success inspired them to expand but it has been done badly, in my opinion. There is little consistency in the cafe's, what they do at one, they don't do at another. Ginger & Pickles have delivered some good food in the past but seem to lack consistency, not only in the brand, but within their own cafe's, no matter how good the food or staff used to be, it now has left a bad taste in my mouth. No business can rely on a one time good reputation for ever, a good reputation is earned not expected. Not only have they lost a relatively good long time customer. On a good note, the cafe directly opposite G&P in Nantwich is absolutely great. We go there now, friendly staff, great food and very comfortable.

We had the option of sitting outside on a little decked area, or inside wherever there was a free table. We chose outside due to the weather being nice and although you didn't have a view as such, it was nice that they have this option. We were stuck for choice with the list of cakes they had to offer, however I highly recommend the Bakewell tart! The nicest I have EVER had. Used to be the best place in the area, since they opened upstairs the whole place and especially the food has gone down hill unfortunately, myself and my son used to go every Sunday but these days apparently you have to stick to the set menu and can't deviate and ask for specific things.

Booked for afternoon tea and we were very disappointed. Very uninviting entrance almost felt like the back door! Our table was in the middle of the room upstairs where there was a lot of people going past so not very nice. Afternoon tea arrived and consisted of a few stale freezing cold finger sandwiches, cheese spread and massive chunks of cucumber, very small amount of smoked salmon, egg which tasted strange and a couple of ham and the smallest amount of chutney ever. 3 scones (we had to ask for cream and jam (which came in an espresso cup?) And then a few square pieces of sponge cake. Very underwhelming for £60! Only one cup of tea received each and not even the offer of another one even if we had to pay we could have done with another drink! Chaotic from start to finish, poor customer service and unappealing view of dishwashers being emptied. Will not be returning, plenty of other cafes in Nantwich with much better food and atmosphere.

Am afraid things have gone downhill with this cafe. I wasn’t too impressed with the offhand , almost rude ,couldn’t care less service we received the previous time I visited here and my friend received the wrong drink. This time was worse. The staff just don’t seem to listen to what is being said. I ordered a ham, cheese and red onion marmalade sandwich as per the sandwich list on the menu. What arrived was a toastie ( I don’t like toasties and certainly didn’t order one) on very thin cheap bread and the filling was horrible. I couldn’t even see any onion marmalade and the ham was scraps of what looked like shredded ham. It. It came with about 6 crisps and a few leaves. My friend got doorstep bread on her sandwich which again she had not ordered. I left most of mine as the staff were all huddled in the kitchen and didn’t reappear to check if the food was ok. With cup of tea that cost me £10 which is expensive especially when you get poorly prepared food with cheap ingredients. Won’t be returning as there are many nicer cafes in Nantwich.

Design of café has lost its appeal. Used to be a lovely and very welcoming feel. Lost that. Downstairs not appealing with counter at door. Sent upstairs. Entrance terrible. Upstairs now your very average café. Too much competition in town to drop first impressions. Staff friendly enough if not thinking customer so much. A little “harsh” rather than soft redirection upstairs. Talking to each other upstairs. Waited too long, but ok. No real customer direction ref ordering a drink while look at menu. Radio on but in kitchen, area a bit chilly, for staff & customers. Intercom a bit loud from downstairs (same quote harsh voice). Talking loudly around customers, forgetting there almost. Not now table service. Previous owners were really lovely. Some cakes on open display downstairs near door/no cover. Really has lost its very professional welcoming feel. Paint on wall knocked. In need of an overhaul.

The cafe/building was pretty but the food and service was overpriced and disappointing. The cafe was very cold and our food/coffee came cold. Staff weren’t open to facilitate reasonable adjustments in the meal and suggested any changes would cost, even if other items were taken away. The freshly squeezed orange was £3.50 but wasn’t fresh as it was bottled. We didn’t find the service friendly, especially as one of the plates was dropped down as the waitress couldn’t wait to get away. In isolation, any one of these things would be fine, but as an overall experience it wasn't great.

Absolutely delightful little place, plenty more space to sit down than it looks like from the outside. Very friendly staff, delicious food and plenty of gluten free options. I had the chilli cheese toast with spring onions and a griddled egg, it comes with two large pieces of toast and is very tasty. I had the dirty Chai for a drink, which was also superb
