Great friendly stuff, fresh chips, gorgeous curry sauce. Great peas and I enjoyed chatting to the people in there

The food was good but not up to the standard of our usual chippy. However, my grandaughter ordered a sweet and sour rice bowl, and she loved it. I, on the other hand, had a chicken burger, which the menu said cam with mayo and lettuce, but when it came, I had ice cold cheese and curry sauce on it, the bun was also ice cold.

Very generous servings and the friendliest service you could imagine!

Great fish, cooked to order, real chips, recommended

Ordered my food online which was not a issue. The delivery driver called to say he was outside my front door which he wasn't as I was there waiting. When he called me numerous times to say where he was he got rude with me on the phone. I never received my order so at to order from somewhere else.

Visited today and had a chippy lunch in the cafe, chips were good as was the sausage, gravy and curry sauce! (Took advantage of the lunchtime special, only £5 to eat in! Must have recently been taken over as its far better than what it was in recent times! Will definitely go back!

The best chippy in town! Charlie and Alex created fantastic atmosphere there and the food is just banging. Fish is so flaky chips crispy and gravy is to die for. Good to have you guys on the doorstep!

Fish is dead crisp. Chips are soft and fluffy with crisp outside. Top service staff really friendly makes the experience perfect. Best chippy around

Possibly the worst fish and chips in Macclesfield.

This place has just been taken over...the food is amazing...our 2nd time here in the last couple of weeks and it is consistently good...we will be back again.

Not the absolute best chippy chips I've had, but cheap and cheerful! Can't go wrong paying 2 quid for chips! Staff are lovely.

Had our chippy tea tonight..it was very nice.. The chips were spot on...the pudding really meaty and tasty..the peas were the best I've had...the staff all very friendly....my daughter had fish and chips..also spot on.. .

Just called in and a pleasant surprise chip shop and dinner spotless, staff where all pleasant, so I decided to eat in,I had pudding chips and peas with gravy great size portion ,and drink was complimentary, certainly be going again when I am this way thanks James and all the staff,

Food and service was amazing, the staff are very kind, they even opened early because they saw us waiting outside. I come here often and I think it's a great place to eat. The food is very good and I would say it's the best chippy in Macclesfield.

Used to be such a good chippy, went last night food was terrible, fish was grey ,all food was cold. Won't be going again!

We ordered a large lunch time order with mixed requests to send into our daughters class at school to celebrate her birthday. Charlie was brilliant from start to finish and the kids had a Wonderful party lunch. Definitely 5* from us. Thank you Crompton Road Chippy.

Really looking forward to fish and chips as hadn’t had any for ages. The chips were OK but the fish had gone off and the peas tasted of nothing. Will not be going back.

I got a chip barm and a small portion of chips the barm was a small seeded bap no butter but the chips were very nice..when I got home I realised that I didn’t see how much it cost so checked my phone because that’s how I paid an it said I paid £6 ..I will be going back to see if I was over charged because that’s way to much .

I used to love going to Crompton road chippy while I was at college. When my family fancied a chippy tea I was very quick to suggest Crompton road! I wish I hadn’t! It was the worst chippy tea I’ve ever had. The chips were just about cooked, no colour and bland. The fish was pink in the middle, which put us off eating it. The batter was greasy and soggy and in other parts burnt. When my mum went to get it, there was another woman that brought hers back due to the chips being raw. Such a shame, it was a great chippy, definitely will not be going again.

My family just got a chippy of my recommendation of what the chip shop was like a few years ago when I was at college. However, it is no longer what it used to be. The chips were cooked but flavourless and the fish was pink in the middle with a very soggy greasy batter on it. Really disappointing.

Awful !!, food ended up in the bin. Lovely staff but stood waiting for around 25 minutes. Large cod was a SMALL SMOKED yellow fish of some kind ???. Gravy was DISGUSTING, you could feel powder in your mouth and the taste was the worst we've ever had. No peas, no chicken selects. It needs to be MUCH better than this guys !, has it changed hands ???

How are people giving this place 5 stars got chips here today I have to say they were the most soggy and disgusting chips I have ever tasted they went into the bin.

First visit in ages. only had chips and gravy with barn cake. and a can. chips had a wired smell and weren't even cooked properly very pale.the gravy was ok was a really hot day so was looking forward to a nice cold can, warm no chance this was at 12.15pm early lunch i think i was the first customer of the day. the bread barn was stale. and i noticed slug trail on the carpet on the way out. who has carpet fitted on a chippy floor.i felt really sick after that experience. never again.

James and all the staff were fantastic. From the minute we sat down to leave they looked after us. The fish, chips and mushy peas are the best in the area by a mile. Just when we thought we had enough the legendary sticky toffee pudding arrived OMG is all I can say. You must go and enjoy the experience from the fantastic Chippy and team.

Historically, really good fish & chips. Our meal this week was disappointing. Undercooked, soggy, hard chips and fish batter was also very soggy. Not sure if he changed peas & curry sauce supplier but was not as tasty as we’re used to. Lovely people so hopefully a one time thing.

This is the very first chip shop in Macclesfield that knows how to cook and serve proper Mushy Peas! The chips were cooked just right and the fish was lovely. Customer service delivered with a smile and friendly chat. I noticed also, they have even thought about materials they seve their food in, my recycling bin was happy too 😊

£5.75 for a pie that was cold in the middle and a hand full of chips with a spoon of curry sauce.. .they're charging top dollar for bottom dollar food..

We visited the chippy as a family of 4 (all adults). We 'ate in' in a clean, stylish, light spacious dining area. Everything was spotless... Great menu, with plenty of variety including gluten free!! The service was brilliant, only surpassed by the quality of the food. Honestly, we were thrilled.. The best chips we've ever tasted, not greasy, but light and fluffy and piping hot. The fish was great, cooked to perfection and offered with a slice of fresh lemon and tartar sauce!...pies, scampi, prawns, sausage also on the menu... Plus homemade desserts(also gluten free available) by Pauline.... Can't praise this place enough-we'll be back!

This place is superb. We were gutted when our previous regular place closed, and have tried a few others in Macc before finding this one, but this one edges in by a LONG way! The team here are SO friendly, and the food is excellent. Thank you so much James, Charlie and Georgia for making us ALWAYS feel welcome, happy and part of the Crompton Road Chippy family. You guys ROCK!

The customer service was exceptional however the food let them down. The fish was extremely dry and thin which was a real shame and the sausages were so greasy it was coming through the paper. But I must say that the chips were lovely which rescued the meal. However the customer service was exceptional and the staff were friendly and welcoming.

Wow the best fish, chips & peas I have had for years, the king prawns just incredible really really good, can’t wait to try more, my only complaint is I had medium chips well I would hate to see a large lol 😂, The service was second to none too,

We ordered on Friday night and there was a very fast delivery. The fish was beautiful large fish but a really weird hard batter it was overly crips and very disappointing, it all fell off in one piece. The chips were horrible, there were at least half of the chips black or manky and sat in a puddle of grease. I had read loads of really good reviews and was was so disappointed but maybe it’s just a one off bad batch. Most of it was inedible so we were left hungry and out of pocket of £18, a lot of money to go hungry.

Not treated myself to lunch for over 12 months - food was really good and the staff so friendly and helpful. I will return...

Best Chippy in Macclesfield. Always tastes amazing. Very diverse menu with all the traditional foods and modern options. Gluten free and gorgeous desserts. Lovely restaurant to eat in. Really lovely friendly staff. Fast service as wat in and take away.

Gravy- not amazing & like gloup Curry sauce- looks the part, tastes of nothing Chips- fair amount but sadly the quality was horrible Steak pie & meat pie both was nice & not burning hot ready to eat. For the price... never again, sorry.

Lovely fish and chips and friendly service!

Our friends and I have been coming to this chippy since it became gluten free, we’ve ate in , we’ve taken out and during this pandemic we’ve had a delivery every Friday. We can safely say any of the three are the one of/ if not the best chippy we’ve ever had.Last night they sold out of Breaded plaice , where I phoned up to say I’ve got the wrong order, and as compensation they had put us a small fish and scampi in for the inconvenience. Bring on next Friday nights tea.

We travel to Macclesfield from Manchester just to get food from this place, such a lovely warm homely environment, all the staff are lovely and so inviting. We were served tonight by Pauline and what an amazing lady she is. The food from here is to die for,such an amazing selection and not a drop of grease/oil on my plate. Its safe to say you will definitely being seeing me for my 3rd visit very soon.

Thankfully, the ownership has changed back to members of the old staff and the quality has now returned. So happy to have a decent place to get Chips in the area once more again. Especially during Covid !

Nice and friendly local staff with great quality food; and best of all, their food is not soggy. I have been to many chippies in many different countries and by far this is my favourite.

Chips were soggy gravy horrible and curry tasteless

Suffering with a gluten intolerance has meant that over the years I have had to cut some of my most favourite foods out of my diet or find a gluten-free alternative (which are often not as good as the real thing) and a Chippy takeaway is something I have really missed! So after being told that Crompton Road Chippy cater for people on a gluten free diet I thought I would give it a try, they did not disappoint! The chips are exactly the same as a normal Chippy takeaway and I can honestly say the battered fish was better! Both my partner (who isn’t gluten intolerant) and I were very impressed!! So so tasty, plenty of food and really lovely service!! They even have a list of gluten free puddings, I would recommend the sticky toffee one!

1. Fish chips peas and gravy 1. sausage chips and curry 1. Can coke 1. Tea. Total £15.60 The tea was rubbish, weak, too much milk and a greasy shine on the top. The chips were well undercooked, bright white and lumpy inside. Curry was tasteless and watery. Sausage is ok but different to everywhere else I've been. Gravy is ok Fish was nice and big but was a bit greasy Peas hadn't soaked long enough and had some hard bits in. We had couple mouthfuls and put it in bin, the cat had the fish. Used to be a really good chippy, won't be back anytime soon.

Really friendly staff. We asked for a delivery and even though we were out of the delivery area they did all they could to accommodate us and even threw in 2 bottles of prosecco with our order. The food was great too! We will definitely be back.

Took my neighbour (age 99) for lunch on an Eat Out to Help Out day and we were not disappointed. Tried to book but told it would be fine and arrived later to find a big family gathering but table at the back, no problem. I had the large cod and a small chips, peas and curry. My neighbour had the small fish and chips and that was more than enough for him. My fish was absolutely perfect, flakes of moist cod and soft batter as I like it. Order was a bit mixed up and they forgot the discount but benefit of the doubt on this occasion. Neighbour forced me to go for a pint after and as the sun was shining I couldn't refuse. Took me a while to digest that lot.

Excellent food, I sat in with my young grandchild, very clean, staff fantastic and greeted with a smile, definitely go again.

We visited this chippy for two reasons. Firstly because we had spent the day moving my son to the town and secondly we wanted fish and chips, but as a coeliac I need a gluten free option. Crompton Road chippy offered the option so we decided to try it out. This was just after lockdown restrictions had been reduced and the cafe had recently opened following a refurb. The three of us had fish, chips and mushy peas, mine being gluten free. The staff were very friendly and explained that the gf would be handled separately which eased me a lot. When the food arrived I was a little concerned as mine looked too good to be gluten free as I have not seen a batter so light and crispy since diagnosis 18 months ago. The whole meal was fantastic, the fish and chips well cooked and the batter light and crispy with a pleasant taste. My wife and son also enjoyed the "normal" batter as well. If you are in Macclesfield I would recommend visiting here. If you are coeliac I would seriously recommend visiting, we are 30 miles away but will be returning. Definitely a win. Thank to the staff, and to the new owners who have done an amazing job especially in catering for specific dietary needs.

Very nice friendly staff. Fish was crispy and delicious. Gluten free fish is served Friday and Saturday according to the sign outside. This was also delicious and great that all the family can now be included. Mushy peas were decent as well and portions were good. Overall very happy with everything.

Not great, chips looked burnt and oily, phone order got messed up. Two stars for being hot I suppose. Disappointing tho, not had a sniff of a chippy since lockdown!

Back to the best in Macclesfield. I don’t think any chippy could have handled covid-19 lockdown better than Crompton Road Chippy. From constantly serving fantastic food, to delivering to those shielding. People will remember you after this pandemic. Well done to the team.

Order a fish and chips and what can I say, it was huge ! The batter was perfect! Chips spot on. Staff were so polite! The chippy itself was so busy! But 100% worth the wait. Young man frying with a huge smile on his face and chatting away with customers. Staff so focused on the job. Good to see it’s back to its best. Will 100% be back.

Popped in at 130,they close at two which is probably why chips were dry, old, semi warm and hard. Dont use alot but fancied a treat.... Pity, wont use again

Visited on a very busy Friday evening during lockdown. There was obviously quite a wait before I was able to get in and order and everyone adhered to social distancing guidance.Once inside it was clear that the staff were run off their feet with a long list of orders and an increasingly long queue outside.Despite this, the staff were welcoming, polite and efficient.They were starting to run out of a few items but I was lucky enough to get most of the things I wanted.Everything was cooked fresh in front of me and when I got home, a bit later than planned, my daughters described the food as one of the best chippy teas they had tasted.The chips in particular were very good indeed.So to summarise, if you do have to queue it’s well worth the wait.I also noted that they do gluten free options on Friday and Saturday which were in demand when I visited.

Support this chippy - great product, good people running and working in the business and a fantastic delivery service. To think a few months ago an established business looked to have been ruined - what a turnaround.

During these difficult times of the Coronavirus & having to stay at home because of vulnerability, it was excellent to speak to Charlie to arrange a home delivery this evening. The time was booked, the order taken & payment taken over the phone. The food arrived on time, excellently packed & proved to be very good quality. We will definitely place another order soon.
