Bocboc Cafe in St. Helens

Went to boc boc for the grand national event … Wasn’t sure what to expect but it exceeded my expectations.. The experience was wonderful they had a big massive screen to watch the races . They came out with different platters we also had table service for drinks to . The entertainment was amazing to I would go again without a doubt . ☺️

Lucky enough to get tickets for the quiz night. Really great evening..cannot fault anything. Great venue, attentive staff and food was spot on. Have been to a few events at Boc Boc and always have a great night. Thank you to all involved

I have to say the food and service is always excellent here and its a regular for me and my family to visit. I notice someone bemoaning the fact its not dog friendly - please do stay that way Boc! We are very allergic to dogs and my brother is terrified, so its great to find at least one place in St Helens that doesnt allow dogs in. Thank you Boc!

Visited today - there was a problem with the flavour of our meal but we didn’t mention it at the time . When the lady came to collect our crockery I told her about the issue , she said if we had told her at the time she would have sorted it . .We didn’t want to complain so that was our fault really- we didn’t want to make any fuss. However , when we went to pay she had heavily discounted our meal . Which we thought was very kind . Due to this we will go again - everyone has an off day after all .

I was pleasantly surprised by this place, stylish and comfortable and lovely, friendly staff and a great brunch and coffee served promptly and at a decent price. Highly recommend.

Visted with the family today and wasn’t overly impressed. Ordered a cheese and ham toastie and the ham was extremely fatty and the ham and cheese were really cold. Ordered the same for one of the kids and it was exactly the same and the bread was burnt. Husband ordered the beef, onion chutney and cheese bloomer and the beef was over cooked and tough to eat and cheese really cold again and not melted. The beef hadn’t been cut up and so it all came out the sandwich with one bite which made it messy to eat. Skin on fires and salt and pepper chips were nice and the coffee also and the staff were very friendly but for 4 meals and four drinks and coffee £47 seemed a lot for food that wasn’t great at all don’t think we will be in a rush to go back there any time soon

We came here for a spot of lunch on Friday. Service was friendly and quite prompt despite being pretty busy. We ordered Cajun chicken wrap with salt and pepper fries, and a brie, bacon and rocket bloomer with truffle and Parmesan fries. Both of which were delicious, but it’s the salt and pepper fries being a highlight. We also had a chai latte, a pot of tea and 2 diet cokes. The bill came to £36. The only feedback is the sandwich’s/wraps are on the pricier side to not include fries as standard. They do serve it with crisps and salad, but we think fries should come with the dish as standard. They do offer alcohol, which is a great touch, with premium spirits and beers on tap. Ideal for an after work drink, or a celebratory cocktail over a catch-up.

This was our second visit. The first was on a Friday lunchtime. It was really busy but the staff coped well and the food and service were good. We’ve come again on Sunday afternoon after a dog walk. Unfortunately this place isn’t dog friendly although I can’t imagine why not. The floor is concrete! The hot chocolates we ordered were lacking chocolate and marshmallows, tbh just tasted like milk. I’m disappointed because I support local, independent businesses. Come on Boc Boc - be consistent and consider being dog friendly.

Attended the Retro night and had a fabulous time …. Retro style buffet and drinks were excellent! Music was amazing too … Staff and atmosphere were great , I would recommend and will definitely go again !

Firstly it was an hour wait for the food. Ordered the scrambled egg bloomer with bacon, toast came out with no butter, had to request this.. it was definitely required since the toast was burnt. The scrambled eggs were dry and tasteless, the worst I have ever had. I will not be returning.

Really kind and pleasant staff and of course great food. Also loved the layout of the cafe itself, it’s very cute. Would come again.

Nothing more to say really. Bugs in the salad, was told it was pre washed/packed salad. Obviously not the case. If you do visit, check your food first nothing has been washed.

Lovely place, lovely cakes, really nice and friendly staff but classes tuna as vegetarian in the afternoon tea. The staff swapped it for another sandwich and were amazing over it but I was informed that this wasn't a mistake and tuna is classed as vegetarian on their menu.

First visit for us. The place was popular as there was a wait on food but it was worth it. Had the toasted bloomers with side salad. Very good coffee and they do have a licence so Beer and Gin etc. are available. The cakes also look amazing but the lunch filled us up!. Very contemporary/clean design adds to the experience. Staff are really nice as well.

Always greeted with a smile by friendly staff. Lovely little place for a bite to eat. Gorgeous food and a hit with the children for yummy ice cream! 5 stars all round! I would definitely recommend this place to others.

Have never been before but popped in with my wife during the reopening week for England so ate out side. Tables very nice but more importantly the food and service was excellent. A real treat as it was our first drink and bite to eat after lock down. Well done and we will be back.

We had the full English breakfast which was really great. Felt safe with all the social distancing measures in place. Service was good and food and drinks arrived quickly. The only slight niggle was that the website is missing a trick. There is nothing to tell you about the place, what type of food they serve, where they source the ingredients etc. Nor does it say that you can eat in and the only menu is for takeaway and that needs to be preordered. It was only because I phoned that I found we could dine in. Also the TripAdvisor entry says the place is closed. Such a pity as this may put people off trying this place.

We came here for breakfast and there is a good selection of breakfasts. I had the eggs royale which was really nice and my partner had the smashed avocado on toast with bacon again really nice. The place has recently been extended and has a much larger seating area now which is much better for social distancing. There is also hand sanitiser available. I would also recommend an ice cream or milkshake from here they are amazing.

I absolutely love bocboc at the best of times! The food is delicious. I bought two of the Father’s Day cake boxes and oh my they were beautiful. My grandad cried when he received his and I’m just so glad my boyfriend let me share his with him or I may have cried myself with sadness! Thank you once again Bocboc for the best food and lovely service as always

Went this weekend with 6 friends for breakfast. We all had a variety of different breakfast options from a full breakfast to avocado with poached eggs and food was all delicious. Staff very friendly and the place is very on trend. Keep up the good work and we will all be back very soon. Well done bocboc for offering something different for St Helen's.

This is my first (and last) visit since the refurbishment and I was disappointed. I'm afraid the industrial chic doesn't do it for me. It was lacking in atmosphere, the accoustics were terrible due to the lack of decor and it was freezing. Every customer had their coats on. The breakfast menu has been whittled down too. You could get a traditional breakfast at one time but I didn't see it on the menu.

I love this place.Only been in since the renovations. It's industrial chique may not suit everyone, but the menu will.It's become my go to place for brunch time meet ups as there's something for everyone.Calling the staff "staff" is a bit daft, they are too friendly for that! Service is prompt, drinks are spot on- my order was remembered on just my second visit.So service is excellent, ambiance is on trend but the real star is the food.Avocados on toast in St Helens? This is the place. Breakfast stack? Sorted.I've delayed reviewing because, to be honest, I wanted to keep it my secret, but really- it's too good not to share.

Myself and my mum attended this event as a pre-Christmas treat. We loved the whole afternoon. It was 3-6pm and we stayed for every minute. The place was buzzing with chit chat and laughs. Food was great and displayed perfectly. We boxed some sandwiches up to take home as there was a lot. We were greeted and was waved off by the staff as we were leaving. I actually messaged on Facebook and said I hope they continue to do more events like this in the near future as we will definitely attend. Thank you Boc Boc for a lovely afternoon

I love this place, it's a short walk from my house and a perfect modern place to eat for breakfast and lunch and meet with friends. The recent Cheese & Wine and Festive Fizz evenings have been amazing. Brilliant atmosphere, top quality produce and wine with wonderful attention to detail.

Myself & 10 friends attended the Festive Afternoon tea. What a lovely afternoon it was. The food was the best I've ever had at an afternoon tea. The mix of savoury V sweet was perfect in my opinion. The macaroons where the best ever too. This is the second 'event' I've been to at BocBoc and I would highly recommend them. Good work Team BocBoc.

My friend and I are regulars at the coffee shop so were very pleased to see the event advertised, as big fans of afternoon tea! The quality of the food was as always very lovely with the festive macarons tasting very “cake like” and not too sweet ( like the cheap ones). We thought the chocolate pots particularly delicious. The added touch of the baileys at the end was a welcome surprise and we enjoyed the prosecco - so much we bought 2 bottles. Sandwiches were beautiful and the atmosphere lively! Loving these private events and look forward to the next one. One thing you can always rely on at BocBoc is the tasteful decor - the owner has a good eye !

Had a fantastic evening at BocBoc with friends, for their wine and cheese evening. The food was lovely, with plenty to go round. The wine was delicious too with a glass each of red, white and rose served alongside the food. The new look to the place as well was outstanding. Well done BocBoc, I'll be back again soon.

Once again we had such a fab night at Bocboc cheese and wine. Great atmosphere and delicious food and wine. The service from the staff is always very personable each time we visit. Love the new look of the place too. Cant wait for the next one, but I'm sure I will be visiting a few times before for lunch.

I went to this event and I have to say I do not agree with the previous review. The food was excellent and the atmosphere was great. Really good afternoon, roll on next year.

What a fabulous afternoon which really got me in the mood for Christmas

Had a fantastic time ( as always ) at the latest Boc Boc event ‘Festive Fizz/ Afternoon Tea’ - Lovely sandwich selection and the desserts were beautiful. I really feel there is no place like it in St Helens with its private venue feel, making a lovely alternative for a night out with friends. Venue is lovely and staff couldn’t do enough for us.

What a wonderful event, had a lovely time with friends. Staff, service, food and overall event was beautiful. Five star ***** Looking forward to our next visit already Happy Christmas x

What has happened to Bocboc? We were so looking forward to the new look! Unfortunately it is dark and drab, rather than sleek and modern. What has happened to the fabulous menu? It is very much restricted from previously. Has the chef and management changed? Sunday pm - just a few dry looking pieces of cake and a few breakfast items looking sad. We decided to have a toasted sandwich which was fine, but not spectacular. IThe specials were finished but then again, I don’t want Sunday lunch in a wrap on a board with a jug of gravy and two separate pigs in blankets. Yes, we can go elsewhere if it isn’t to our taste - and we will!

Four of us called in for a late breakfast today (Sunday). Good choice of items on the menu and you are able to make up a breakfast that suits you. The food is really good - fresh and tasty. We had scrambled egg and bacon on toast, egg and sausage on toast, bacon on toast and sausage on toast. Excellent ingredients, not the cheap rubbish. The staff were very friendly and polite and the coffee shop is clean and spacious. The furniture and fittings look new and modern and the atmosphere is relaxed. We will definitely be visiting here again.

Visited on a Saturday lunchtime. The menu is very restricted compared to how it used to be. The food was always well presented...not now... a squashed panini on ordinary bread with limp salad leaves. Has the chef changed? Of 4 staff members only the young lad was smiling and engaging with customers. The other 3 literally glared as customers arrived through the door! It was so friendly before the refurb, this is a real shame. With a few tweaks to the decor, menu and some staff training, it could be fabulous again. Fingers crossed.

I called into this café for the first time the other day and was pleasantly surprised. It has a very modern interior with plenty of space so you are not squashed against other diners. The food was good with plenty of things to choose from. A good place to chill and relax.

Don’t know what’s happened but prior to refurb the cafe was a fantastic eatery flooded with light and nice clean lines and fresh

Visited with my sister from overseas who is use to excellent service. However when we asked for breakfast this was refused because the kitchen was backed up with orders! So we r given the lunch menu and informed there will be a significant wait due to the kitchen. When he food eventually arrived it was average.

Bocboc has always been a favourite so we were looking forward to visiting after waiting for it to re-open after the refurb. It’s much bigger and trendier. The menu choices have reduced but the food is always really fresh and tasty and it’s spotless. I can understand that everyone has different tastes, but some of the reviews on here are really harsh and uncalled for. We try to support local businesses and this is a local cafe which is a great place for local people to meet and enjoy a coffee and some good food. This is much more like the type of place that is very popular in Manchester and other big cities, but some people who have visited clearly prefer the old fashioned tea rooms which is fine, but no need to be so rude in the reviews. This is a little gem in a town which is struggling for decent cafes.

Me and my gran like to visit boc boc on occasion, we loved the old place! Came to see what the refurbishment was like and i can say for the both us that we weren't impressed at all. It seemed like it was still under refurbishment, the walls are finished with plaster, the floor looks unfinished. I get that they are trying to go for a industrial look but this just looked unfinished and empty. It's too noisy as there is so much empty space. The breakfast menu is limited and not great and there where no specials available. The food that we did order was nice, we just would have liked more options.

Had heard good things about this place but for me I was left extremely disappointed.ordered full English came with peppercorns covering the egg,bacon, black pudding, mushrooms. Sent it back and they replaced no problem after setting my mouth on fire. Brought out replacement, had to go and ask for cutlery after it was put on my table, even this was not great, left half an just left. Will not return.

Yummy cheesy toast doorstops and coffees 😀😁😄 Cafe clean and attractive. Staff friendly. Chairs comfy. Nice place for a chat and snack/meal/drink.

The food they do is ok and done fresh. The parking is on the street as off road small car park. Avoid end of day school time.

Had heard of BocBoc but never been until today. Was definitely not disappointed. Lunch was delicious and the cappuccino was one of the nicest I've tasted. Ate every single scrap lol. Will definitely go again.

We visited for breakfast on good Friday. It was beautiful. Our little girl loves it and that's the best review as she can be fussy where sausage is concerned but she loved her sausage and even ate all of her dads. The service was great all the young ladies waiting on we're happy to be there and couldn't do enough for us what a refreshing change. We will be back.

One of my favourite little cafes in the area. Food is always delicious and staff are always friendly. The place is immaculate.

This little cafe is clean, bright and airey. The staff are attentive and the coffee is excellent. There is a reasonable selection of 'treats' (choclatey things) wraps, sandwiches and hot meals.

Called,for first time visit,to this spotlessly clean cafe with my wife for a quick lunch.Got to say the food was excellent,freshly prepared and very tasty and well-presented.Two extremely pleasant and efficient young ladies providing a superb service in a nice,relaxing atmosphere.Sandwich/wrap,which we had,were both excellent.Inobtrusive background music helped towards our enjoyment of the visit.Good value for money,parking available,will definitely return.

We came here for a breakfast which is served until 11.30 we arrived at 11.45 and they were happy to cook us the breakfast. The breakfast was nice. The mushrooms were quite peppery but other than that was very nice. We had 2 breakfasts 1 latte and 1 pot of tea and came to just over £15.

Fab food, absolutely spotless great staff, amazing choice of eats can't wait to go again. Also Ice creams to take out

We went as we were passing & my partner is an ice cream addict. The service was courteous & very good. Fabulous coffee, lovely scones & I'm told the ice cream was fabulous (I don't like ice cream but it looked very good). I was also looking at the afternoon teas that other customers were being served & they looked wonderful. The breakfast menu looked great too. We'll definitely be back. Only one down side but certainly not worth knocking a point off for, it was exceptionally clean (excellent in itself) but quite stark, to the point of clinical. Could do with a little "warming up" which would make for a better overall ambience. Highly recommended. I'll be taking the children next time. Thank you to the staff & management, a hidden gem.

After arriving back from the Middle East earlier in the day we decided to go to Bocboc for a late lunch. It's a small place inside with maybe 7 or 8 tables but the food and service is worthy of award winning restaurant. I have passed by the place so much while driving and always wondering what it was like. Now that I know what it is like I will be stopping a lot more often. My girlfriend and I ordered some tea and a couple of sandwiches. The sandwiches are served with a small salad and some crisps and all the ingredients are fresh.The staff are helpful, courteous and always smiling.

Popped in with a law school friend. Although that was x number of years ago. Both had excellent veg soup with some discs of fresh baguette. He then went for chilli chicken on baguette. I had an excellent lamb kofta wrap. Nice salad and nachos with each. Friendly service. Good place for lunch.

As it was my Birthday we decided to go for Afternoon Tea my Mum Sister and Daughter, oh my what a treat it was. Absoulutely delicious sandwiches scones and cakes to much for ua to finish we ended up taking some of the cakes home. The atmosphere is very relaxing surroundings very clean staff very friendly would deffinately recomend everyone to go and try and will be returning soon,

Arrived here at around 1pm on Tuesday to celebrate my sisters 55th birthday, what a treat we had. The atmosphere is relaxing and the surroundings are clean, fresh and well decorated. We had "Afternoon tea" which was outstanding. Comprising of 4 assorted finger sandwich's with salad, maccaroon, scone with jam/cream/butter and brandy-snap cake topped with cream/fresh fruit. Followed by ice-cream (I could'nt manage the ice-cream, to full) Followed by a pot of tea. All this for just £10 per person. I will definatly be returning here :-)

I visited today and had the full English breakfast and a latte. The breakfast was lovely and tasty and excellent quality. You also get 2 rounds of lovely buttery toast. The latte was piping hot the way I like it. Already looking forward to coming again.

Love this place normally but visited recently to be told at 1450 no longer serving. Just ordered coffee and cakes.Visited again the following day to be told at 1330 food was no longer being served! Gutted - won't be visiting here again in a rush!

Was here for breaky, had the full english and a espresso, full english was amazing the espresso however was abit average though, in saying that i live in france and its hard to top. But lady serving was friendly, very bubbly and a nice front for the cafe.. Will def go again when im back. Swing by if ya in the area

If we wanted out of date, dry salad from a bag we could have bought it for 50p, rather than £6.95 for the worst salad Niçoise I have ever had.No French beans and a tiny drizzle of balsamic vinegar. Olives tipped from brine soaked jar, ditto tuna, quarter of potato and 2 quarters of tomato.When 4 people on different tables are leaving the 'salad' I would question the quality, if it were my cafe.The tea pot handle was so hot it burnt both my mother and myself, think there is a safety issue.Won't be returning.

Went with hubby, he had kofta wraps with salad, dip and tortilla chips. I had a lovely warm chicken and bacon salad drizzled with dressing of my choice, it also came with a chunk of bread which I declined. We talked ourselves into lovely fruit and cherry scones which were still warm 10/10 for food and service.

I took my mum, who is very discerning, and it was great. Lovely coffee and pastries.I have to agree with a previous post about the acoustics unfortunately. The minimalism is great to look at but I would be tempted to have some wall hangings or acoustic tiles to keep the noise down.

Visited on Saturday with the folks. Always looking for somewhere to order a salad and receive one with lots of colour and variety, something other than iceberg lettuce, tomato and peppers! This place has conquered that. Brie, bacon and cranberry salad was delicious! Lots of variety, well presented and good size portion. Definitely be visiting again! Well done!

Visited here with my mum for an unplanned breakfast. Lovely, busy café. Serving plenty of fresh food and cakes. The doorstop toast was lovely. Quite an extensive menu, there's definitely something for everyone. Will be going back regularly

Not cheap, but I don't mind paying for quality, very clean pleasant staff. Nothing to fault.... just what's needed in the area.

The food and coffee at Bocboc is pretty good, quite a lot of choice on the menu. The coffee is better than most chains such as Costa or Starbucks. The service is very good and the staff are friendly and nothing is too much trouble.The only downsides are that the acoustics in there aren't great - when it's noisy there is nothing to absorb the sound and it can be hard to hear the person next to you (worse if you have tinnitus...). Also, it's not that big so can get full quickly. And please get a blind for the window - the sun can be blinding in summer! Otherwise, well worth a visit.

Called in for a quick bite to eat whilst passing and was looking forward to a full English breakfast as I had seen some good reviews on here, unfortunately breakfast is not served after 11:30. Anyhow seeing as I was now in the cafe I opted for the homemade burger with salad and was not disappointed. Food well presented, very tasty and served by nice staff. Will definitely be going back maybe a bit earlier next time so I can try the breakfast.

Love it here, my little boy enjoys eating at BocBoc regularly and today I took my mum for lunch. The croque Monsieur is my favourite and it's delicious! Mum had the Nicosie salad, plenty to eat and reasonable prices. Very contemporary and staff friendly too - great place! Ice cream is award winning and lots of choice!

Bocboc is a café where my family go for breakfast on a Saturday morning. The café is very clean and bright, and the food is of a high standard. The staff are always polite and helpful. Also been here for lunch, which again was very tasty. Highly recommend for, breakfast, lunch or just a coffee with friends

My Nan turned 80 a couple of weeks ago and on the morning of her birthday I decided to take her for Breakfast to Bocboc - a great way to start the day prior to a day of pampering before her birthday celebrations in the evening!I arranged for flowers to be put on the table (via the florist next door) along with a balloon and then a bouquet to be brought in later on. All staff were lovely and could not have done more to help with the last minute arrangements!We had a light breakfast. The food was good (although they had run out of Croissants), reasonably priced, coffee was nice and we even had a milkshake to takeaway - all in all, delicious!Parking outside is very limited and ground uneven - not great for elderly visitors.Fab little café, will make an effort to pop by again!Thank you team Bocboc <3

Went to boc bocs for a coffee and sandwich with daughter and granddaughter, i myself are in the catering trade and all i can say is well done service great food presentation excellent x

Popped in for coffee and cake, clean setting, friendly staff, good service, reasonable prices, choice of cakes and ice cream, perfectly served and lovely coffee.Well worth a visit.

Despite previous poor experience here decided to give it another go. Staff not very engaging and seemed distracted. Over priced for poor quality food, made with cheap ingredients. Limited, inflexible menu. Daughter got sandwich made with very cheap white sliced bread, dont expect 5 star but reasonable quality for the prices charged. Coffee and ice cream seem to be only decent quality offerings. There are other local cafes that offer much better value and quality, using local sourced ingredients and more competitively priced.

Enjoyable, relaxed atmosphere, off the beaten track, unless you live locally. High standard of decor, cleanliness and service.

Value for money on the full English breakfast menu and plenty of choices if you want something a bit different.

Pleasant premises with order at the counter service. Most of the cakes seemed to be from Costco so to us seemed rather over priced but the quality was fine.

Now the Rum & Raisin ice cream in Boc Boc is lovely...however today I had the White Chocolate with Chunks and it is truly wonderful...
