Lovely service from the staff. Great food and a very friendly atmosphere despite the new management. Hopefully it continues to be a hub for the local community.

Didn’t know what to expect after change of management. A bit startled on entering, only four people in the bar, but greeted with warmth and friendliness. It was a reduced menu to say the least, no soup or prawns left, only option was goats cheese, which was delicious. I had cod mornay for main, the fish was beautifully fresh and tasty, my husband had the chicken curry, again tasty. It was quite cold, but a very helpful young lady called Evi built up the fire. More couples arrived for drinks, and two large parties of people left the restaurant later in the evening all looking very happy. Our waitress, Casey, was very apologetic regarding the reduced menu, explaining the wrong prawns were delivered (complete prawns with shell and heads,not suitable for dish being offered). All in all it was an enjoyable night with tasty food. A larger menu keeping with the style of the Horseshoe will be on offer in due coarse.

A wonderful traditional country pub with a nice menu and plenty of other options on a specials board. We enjoyed all the beautifully cooked food including great chips. Had several side dishes as well which were excellent and delicious. Looking forward to going back again to try the Christmas menu in a week or two.

I have frequented the Horseshoe, Croft, on a number of occasions. On entering you may be forgiven for thinking that you have fallen through a time warp and gone back in time. Textured walls, high picture rails with plates balanced precariously, sixties style chandeliers (no bulbs) and that smell of a real pub which can only be achieved after years of beer being spilled on the Axminister carpet. If you enter from the front you are met by a low ceiling with olde world beams. To the left there is a paneled room and ahead a small bar. I always enter from the rear, as is my want, and I am, usually, greeted by four or five regulars, sitting at the bar like a Grumble Weeds Reunion. All give a welcoming grunt before carrying on complaining about things like life, body parts which are causing them pain or the price of cumquats in Aldi. The food is tasty and wholesome and there is a good choice on the menu. However, if you are a regular ‘Eater’ I don’t suppose it would take you long to tick all of the dishes off. They tell me that the squirrel in aspic is a ‘Must Have’. As far as the staff are concerned, I cannot speak highly enough of them. All very enthusiastic and helpful and willing to give a candid opinion on your choice of food. Likewise, the bar staff are extremely amiable, and I would like to give a particular shout out to Hannah whose smile lights up the room and who runs a very tight ship. There is a good selection of beers and other refreshing, fizzy, beverages and a cask ale. All in all a great little place, good food, good beer, great staff and a welcoming atmosphere. Unless, of course, you bump in to Peruvian Pete, the three fingered Poker Dealer from Wigan.

Four of us went to Horseshoe/Croft and we all had different starters and different mains + 2 puddings. All the food was outstanding! Staff attentive and very pleasant, looking forward to a return visit at earliest opportunity. Thank you.

Just had a wonderful Sunday lunch. The herb crusted lamb loin was cooked to perfection. The staff were friendly and attentive. A really lovely afternoon.

Fantastic Christmas Day Dinner for table of 15, all meals fabulous - turkey, beef, fish, lamb - each with fresh veg and potatoes. Perfect starters, desserts and cheese and biscuits. Fabulous service at the table and bar.

Large ginger hair in meal. It really put me off. Birthday meal ….A bit yuk. Meal was good, but won’t be back. Don’t the staff wear a hat?

Disappointing Sunday Lunch. Table booked for 16.30, girl behind the bar pointed to a table and told us to sit there. The choice was beef or pork for Sunday Lunch. We had to ask to be shown the specials board when 2 of us wanted beef only to be told they had sold out. I had roast pork, came with mashed and roast potatoes, carrots and overcooked cabbage. The young girl asked if we wanted any sauces, I asked for apple sauce, eventually she came back and said they had run out. All in all the food wasn't upto standard and the service was poor.

Got there early not knowing food opening time of 6pm so chilled with a drink or 2. 6pm came, nothing, at 6.20 we walked out just as the special.board was showed. Sorry wasn't waiting round the service was a joke, won't b returning

The staff were so so lovely and helpful, the food and drinks were great and arrived super quickly! Garden was lovely to sit in with the sun out. Felt very at home and welcomed, with our dog too.

Visited this establishment on 20th September for our anniversary meal only to be told the kitchen was closed, the time was 19.50, both on Facebook and their website stated that the kitchen closes at 21.00, decided to have a drink before leaving and listened to a member of staff tell a group of people that they're starter was on their table, we had contacted the establishment the day before and there was no mention of the kitchen closing early on a Monday, will never recommend this place to anyone, very very disappointed.

Having eaten here numerous times pre covid we booked a family meal to take my parents out. Service extremely disappointing. Walked in and waited... no staff on the bar or in the restaurant..had I have just walked in on spec I wud have walked straight out, however I had booked a table so staff should have been expecting us. Instead of being sat in the restaurant area we were sat in the bar area. No dress code for staff. Rather than the restaurant I thought I was taking my parents to it is a run of the mill pub serving good food. To sum up. Extremely poor service. Good food.

As a regular visitor pre-Covid we have noticed a significant difference in the offerings of food available. The choice at lunchtime is now limited as the lunchtime smaller/specials have been discontinued. This will deter the silver diners which would fill the place at lunch. Not just because the prices are significantly higher but the portion sizes are larger than desired. The Covid regulations are adhered to and the food is of excellent quality. It’s just a pity that the price and size of the lunch now makes it prohibitive for a regular visit.

Drove past today and decided to call in. Beautiful day so sat outside in the beer garden. Food beautiful, freshly prepared and very hot. Good size portions. Staff friendly and pleasant. Will definitely call in again. Well worth a visit.

We had our first takeaway tonight, since lockdown, we had fish and chips from the horseshoe at croft, I would recommend it really fresh snd hot, will definatley be having it again.

Free delivery within 4 miles, delicious haddock, chips & peas £7.50 per portion, it is good when you can visit so I knew it would be just as good at home.

We ordered a delivery tonight. The food arrived on time nice and hot and Delicious. 3 people eating a starter a main and a pudding and the compliment to the chef only one chip left on the plates when we had all finished ... Great food great service definitely will and have recommended the horseshoe and will 100% be eating food from here again and cant wait until the lock down ends so we can visit this establishment as a family ... Sick of reading about all the sacks stockpiling food we decided to go out for Sunday lunch to cheer ourselves up and we decided on this little gem. From the minute you walk in you get the sense of community.. We were sat down straight away and all of us had a starter main and dessert.. the food came really quickly and was piping hot. fresh quality well cooked delicious food and we agreed that we will definitely be back here very soon
