The best restaurants serving British food in North West

We dined in Bustro 1871 as part of a short break holiday at the Appleby Manor Hotel. What a lovely break this was. Our first after the Spring and Summer lockdown. The food was really good and the waiters attentive. Appleby Manor itself is a delightful hotel full of old world charm. We are returning there again for my wife's birthday in October. I shall again dine in Bistro 1871 as well as sampling the gourmet restaurant at the hotel on our second night.

We visited as a family group for a special birthday afternoon tea and it was fabulous! The staff were brilliant, special requests noted, always attentive, they got it just right. The food was absolutely delicious, there was plenty of it, all spot on. Good value, we couldn't finish it all so they provided the bags to take it home. Special shout out for the scones, so light and still warm from the oven! Would definitely come again and highly recommend for a relaxed atmosphere is a beautiful setting.

Decided to visit today. First time in a long time. Both hubby and I had the full English breakfast. It was absolutely spot on. The ingredients were freshly cooked and tasted fresh too. On top of that the staff were very friendly and welcoming. We will definitely visit again very soon

Five star customer service. The staff were helpful, polite and ensured all food orders were made tailored to the customer, e.g asked if wanted butter, sauces etc (rather than assuming) and even when served food to the table asked if anything else was wanted. Staff also were very efficient to quickly bring the queues down. One of the best Chatwin branches I’ve visited in the past 2 years! The staff are exceptional and the food and drinks were high quality, worth a visit.

We went in this morning, they weren’t open , but a very kind lady let us in , it had said on the website that they were open, but she very kindly cooked us bacon barncakes they were so good and so needed . Thank you

Lovely hot day and popped in for two ice creams. One waffle cone with two scoops and one cone with one scoup. £8.10 and the ice creams were very small. The lady serving used a small scoup not much bigger than a teaspoon! Won't be going again!!

We booked a table at Paisley's Restaurant by telephone a couple of weeks in advance of our visit and were told the booking was fine. Imagine our surprise then when we arrived at the Crag Manor Hotel to find their restaurant was closed. We were told it had not opened since the Covid lock-down and would not be opening for the foreseeable future. So why was our telephone booking accepted? Paisley’s Restaurant is part of the Crag Manor Hotel. If that’s how they treat their guests, I’m surprised anyone actually stays there!

Un lugar relajante precioso para sentarse. Sin embargo, el café era pobre y que no podíamos ni terminar. No comimos esta visita pero la comida es normalmente bien.

Nos dirigíamos al restaurante de al lado cuando vimos Nueva Escocia y después de ver el menú decidimos llamar para comer algo. 3 adultos y 2 niños, el personal era atento y servicial. Muy buen ambiente relajado, el menú no era masivo, pero nos gusta que demasiada elección no nos conviene. Las porciones y los precios de los niños eran geniales, LG obtuvo scouse y LB obtuvo salchichas y papas fritas caseras - les encantaron las principales y aún más sus postres de pudín de café pegajoso y brownies y helado. Realmente bueno ver un buen menú para los niños en lugar de solo nuggets de pollo calientes! Dos adultos tienen dos de las hamburguesas en el menú y un adulto tiene la panza de cerdo asado . . Las hamburguesas eran masivas y las patatas fritas caseras y los aros de cebolla en el lado eran increíbles. ¿El asado del vientre de cerdo era de gran tamaño y amaba el lado de scouse con él? Perfecto para un enero helado! Terminado con cafés y chocolate caliente, gran precio de £ 85 . . sin duda recomiendo y volver a visitar!

The staff are welcoming, super friendly - the food was really nice. I was annoyed I didn’t have my phone on me to take photos but I had the rump steak (medium rare) and it was cooked to perfection. My mum had Lincolnshire sausages and mash which she said was lovely and really tasty. We both had dessert, I had the cheesecake and my mum had Baileys Crème Brûlée. Cheesecake was nice, my mum said the Crème Brûlée was really nice but too sweet but everyone has a different sweet tooth. I would highly recommend this restaurant, you won’t be disappointed (hopefully).

Had a cup of decaf cappuccino which was half foam so only half a cup of actual coffee. My partners ordinary cappuccino was ok. I took mine to the counter thinking perhaps the machine was playing up and the assistant said, that’s just how it comes, and very rudely walked away and out the back before I could explain. The coffee was actually very nice, what there was of it.

Lo entregaron y la comida aquí es simplemente excepcional. Tanto en calidad y sabor como también en relación calidad-precio. Absolutamente delicioso. Gracias.

Vengo aquí a menudo durante el trabajo para conseguir comida para alguien a quien apoyo. El personal es encantador y siempre proporciona buena comida para mi cliente. En algunas ocasiones, he tenido que llamar y ordenar por adelantado debido a limitaciones de tiempo (a pesar de que siempre se ordena rápidamente) y lo tienen listo para mí a la llegada para pagar. Muy buena comida y gran personal! Gracias chicos : )

Reservamos The Snug para nuestros amigos y familiares para celebrar nuestra reciente boda. Niall y el equipo eran tan acogedores y no podría haber sido más servicial. Era la primera vez que la mayoría de nuestros huéspedes habían estado allí, dijeron que no será la última.
