Lovely cafe in a great location for watching the trains. Good food, great chips. The staff were friendly and helpful. Prices were reasonable for a tourist attraction. Would recommend.

We popped in for tea and toast. £3.20 for two slices of thin bread toasted. Very disappointed a tiny amount of butter only really enough for one slice. The only plus was there was plenty of marmalade. Won’t be going back.

Busy spot. We had pots of tea - generous sizes - coffee, scones, cake & flapjacks. Pricing was what you would expect from a cafe in a tourist area. Service was very good, tea and coffee excellent, as were the scones (with cream and jam) and homemade cake. Lovely spot on a sunny day, sitting outside at their picnic tables.

We have been visiting this cafe for well over 15 years now and like everything else prices have increased with inflation, whilst Everything does need accounting for and a profit to be made in order for a sustainable business to carry on trading I now feel that the management need to reconsider the prices they are charging otherwise people WILL stop visiting not only the cafe but potentially the attraction itself , We are local to the area and thus like to promote our area but I'm afraid we won't be visiting your cafe again as we feel that it is massively overpriced and self marketing as a bit of a artisan/upper-class tea rooms, whilst your place is nice and spotless clean and a lovely place for a snack. £2.70 for a cup of tea (no pot) just a cup We asked for a toasted tea cake , the nice lady said they had a plum bread that could be toasted , I didn't know the price at the time but £4.75 for that, x2 = £14.90 , THATS FOR 2 TEAS AND 4 THIN SLICES OF CURRANT LOAF, I see that you had sandwiches also , you had those priced at £6.70 + chips @ £4 REALLY !!!!

We called in for a sandwich and a cuppa before boarding the train. We looked in the fridge and there was only one uninspiring cheese sandwich, so we enquired at the counter if they had any others. They said that they could make anything we liked up. They gave us a list we made our choices, paid for them and took our tea to our table. About 20 minutes went by and still no sign of a sandwich. On enquiring, the young man looked blank. Clearly the original staff had forgotten to make the sandwiches. To his credit, he went off and produced the goods within 5 minutes. They were very tasty but by now we were cutting it fine for the train. Good service by the young man but not at all impressed by the two ladies who took our order and money then developed sudden amnesia.

Estaban deliciosos y abundantes. Luego vinieron los bollos y fueron enormes! Vinieron con mucha mantequilla, mermelada y crema coagulada.

The Turntable Café is located on Platform 1 of the Ravenglass and Eskdale Steam Railway. Indoor and outside seating is available; you order at the counter and food is brought to your table. It's a bit haphazard as the staff have to walk up and down the platform trying to find you, calling out your order as they go. It was pretty busy when we were there (Sunday late morning) and it took a long time for the food to be delivered but it was freshly cooked and looked was good when it finally arrived (we only had tea on this occasion). Great views of the miniature Steam Railway as it arrives/departs on its 40-minute journey to the other end of the line.

Friendly enough, but disappointing. Full breakfast is adequate, but uninspired and expensive for the North of England, I suppose because it's at a tourist venue. Proper coffee was stewed and not fresh.

Our little grandson loves steam trains and we made a long trek to get to the start of the Ravenglass and Eskdale light railway while on holiday in Cumbria. By the time we arrived at Ravenglass we were all starving, and we came upon this little café, right on the platform. Three of us enjoyed the superb Cumberland sausage chips and fried egg combo and one had an excellent lasagne and salad. The food was freshly cooked and teas and coffees plus cold drinks were swiftly produced. Prices are excellent and the whole place was clean, well decorated with bunting and railway paraphernalia and very child friendly. They do pies, pastries, sausage rolls, burgers and home baked scones and traybakes.. Also they do "Grab and Go" takeaway food. We heartily recommend the Turntable Bakery to visitors to the famous railway - you won't be disappointed.

We were visiting Ravenglass by train but the village itself was completely dead, and nothing was open. We walked back to the station and over the other side to the cafe where we had hot drinks.Later we visited the railway museum and were looking for somewhere for lunch. We tried the Ratty Arms but there was a wait for hot food and the snacks didnt tempt us. We therefore returned to the Cafe where we all had different sandwiches/toasties. The staff were all pleasant, the food was hot and freshly cooked and the cafe area was clean. All in all a perfect location for lunch, especially if you were also taking a trip on the narrow gauge railway.

Visited the Turntable Cafe just after lunch and ordered 2 x Fish & Chips. Very disappointing, the presentation was terrible, the chips were just piled on the plate over the fish and peas. The batter on the fish was thick, hard and very dark (looked like the oil needed a change maybe). Overall not a good experience, I was prompted to write this review because another couple were also complaining about the quality of the cooked food. The railway itself goes a long way to ensure it's standards are maintained at high levels, that makes this eating experience even more difficult to understand. It takes as much effort to cook bad food as it does good food. Come on guys - you can do much better than this.

We had a voucher for a train journey and cream tea bought for us by our sons as a 40th wedding anniversary. We finally booked the trip for Easter. The trip on the little steam train was excellent though a little breezy. The cream tea at the Turntable Cafe was marvellous.Tablecloth, waitress service and proper china crockery! Plenty of sandwiches and the biggest scones I've seen for a long time. Plenty of fresh cream, jam & fruit. A thoroughly pleasant day all round.

We thought we'd just have a cup of tea before setting off on a little train journey but wow! They had a full gluten free menu: bread, sausages, cakes sticky toffee pudding. Now cakes are getting easier to find but it's really hard to find savories and even most hotels don't have gluten free sausages. If we'd have known we'd have had breakfast here instead of at our B&B. We made sure we got back from our walk before closing time and will make a point of visiting on our next Lake District trip. Oh - the pot of tea for one did 3 cups - it included extra water without me having to ask ... bliss :-)I'm trying to decide if watching polished steam trains is scenic - it was a very nice way to spend half an hour after a hike.

Want to be able to give it more stars :/ Nice to have a chip shop in such a small village. Easy to find, nice young woman behind the counter. As she was cooking the fish, I thought - hmm- should be now.... or now... or now. Well, so probably was, so a bit overcooked. Chips were good (glad I saw her salt/vinegar an order or 2 before mine so I could say 'no, thank you' to waaaay too much salt. Got an order of cold slaw. Ok - was a serving of mayo with some cabbage in it. Hope they consider some adjustments! Then would recommend.

This place is unreal! Honestly you could not write how bad it is, it’s that bad you just have to laugh. There is absolutely no organisation at all. There were 3 waiting on members of staff, none of which had a clue. They wandered around aimlessly with food & drinks with absolutely no idea what table they were for. They were in & out of the kitchen with the same plates of food, it was just bizarre. One table, while we were there, were given their mains at the same time as their starters! We had to ask for our table to be cleared, if you asked for anything it took them at least 20 minutes. I have never seen such poor service. Food was ok, nothing special. The only reason to return would be the comedy value, you cannot believe your eyes!

Shockingly dirty for a place serving food. Chairs an absolute disgrace. Dirty, stained, marked. I'm amazed environmental health hasn't been in and told them to get them cleaned. If it was only one I could have attempted to make some sort of excuse. But it wasn't. A group of us had gone for lunch but we all decided to find somewhere else. I'm honest baffled how Dixons are getting away with it? The Terrace cafe in Workington put this place to shame. I'm amazed people were eating there. We wouldn't go back. Pictures enclosed. Zoom in guys. Truly mehhhh 🙈🤮
