Honestly I've been to some decent places, between the absolute wordlie I was with and then Rebecca who we were lucky enough to serve us, food was absolutely unreal can't knock that in the slightest but Rebecca's genuine service from the off / personality is the reason I'll not think of anywhere else next time I'm back. Food amazing but I never leave reviews usually she deserves every second of praise. See you soon wor Becca x

40 mins wait was unacceptable when you're the first to order & no other customers for a further 15 mins. First we thought home deliveries took priority but 'Im now convinced the chips are collected from the local chip shop.....two staff left with two huge insulated bags (like Go eat) and returned 10 mins later, THEN our food was served. Don't mind they were tasty chips, but why take a booking for 1.30 when chip run isn't until 2pm? Having said that food was lovely when we finally got it.

This pub looked the best bet for a welcome drink or two and so it proved. Good service, good guest ales, the food looked good too.

Went there with 20 friends, mostly from America. What a great experience. First off they decorated the upstairs for my birthday without anyone asking. Second the waitresses were amazing. Very attentive and ensuring everyone was happy. The food was amazing and everyone left happy. I highly recommend this gem of a restaurant in Whitehaven. Next visit we’ll be back.

We visited here for the first time today and thoroughly enjoyed our meals. Nice home cooked food and generous portions. The staff were all friendly and the service was very good. Will definitively be returning.

Staff were friendly and helpful. I had the 8 hour slow cooked lamb kofta and my partner the chicken tikka which were delicious. The quality of the food was first class as were the portion sizes. No room for pudding but they kindly boxed up the two cheesecakes we had ordered for us to take away which were rich and indulgent. I highly recommend the Vagabond for service, quality and value.

Absolutely delicious food , fantastic service from Emma , and a super atmosphere with great music - highly recommend! I had the duck spring rolls as a starter and the Jack Daniels BBQ pork ribs as a main - both delicious - the meat fell off the ribs it was so perfectly cooked !

Booked a table for 5 a few weeks in advance though disappointed as not in a good location. Waited 1 hour for our starters - only 1 garlic cheesy bread and 1 spring rolls (not good value as only 2 and quite small ) then waited another half an hour at least for Mains. No one came and asked for any drinks order inbetween or if food ok. Went with family from away and see only 1 once year - not a great experience - cried when went home ! Won't rush back !

Vagabond pizzas are always amazing 😍 and their Sunday Roast is the best I've had in the UK, honestly! Staff is always great and the pub is nice, clean and with great atmosphere

Very nice staff, incredibly hardworking and very hard working. Very good food, but it's nicer to sit downstairs. But you have to order because it is always well filled.

Always a great night in The Vagabond, and the lamb shank they had on the specials board this evening was a spectacular meal.

One of the most pleasant restaurants we’ve been in UK, the staff is so nice, they make you feel at home. Food was great, I have ordered the Small Pizza au Chévre and the ingredients were so fresh and the taste just amazing. My wife had the Moroccan Veg Tagine with Rice and Vegetables and it was delicious. Thank you guys and we finally did the path till St Bees recommend by the staff. Wonderful and definitely recommend if you are near by the Coast.

Great restaurant by the harbour, waitresses were all smashing and efficient. Booking probably essential as it gets busy. Ordered a couple of pizzas to sit in and they didn't take long at all to arrive and were piping hot and tasty. Other types of food available as well as pizza. Great selection of drinks to go with the food.

We were put off by the exterior at first but called in for a drink to check it out prior to booking a table for food. It was well worth it! A beautiful little place inside. Fantastic food at a reasonable price, with cheerful staff. A must visit when in the area.

Busy little goldmine. Food was OK. I think they make a mistake in allowing all tables to be reserved. They turned away so much passing trade whilst tables sat empty because the reserved were arriving in an hour. Not great business. We had pizzas that were ok. Then Hungarian Goulash which, although an abundance of food and fresh broccoli it tasted really boring. Could do with a fresher menu and open door policy.

We went here for a family birthday and had a lovely meal, the staff were fantastic, the atmosphere was great, there was a party going on upstairs and the food was gorgeous, we all had different things and everyone enjoyed what they had, reasonably priced too.

I had a great family birthday meal here. Staff were friendly and gave exceptional service. When the owner heard it was my birthday she organised a candle in my pudding and everyone sang happy birthday to me. Very friendly and welcoming here. Amazing food and dog friendly. When we had our meal the kitchen inspector arrived for an impromptu inspection, the staff remained calm and professional even though it was very busy and with a kitchen inspection going on. Was so pleased they passed their inspection, they really deserved it. Can't recommend this place enough 🙂

Always great food here and staff are lovely!

I think vaga will always be my favourite restaurant. Me and the Mr visit here when we can and it is always really busy, the staff are always professional and nothing is too much trouble. I have asked the chef a couple times to adapt something with dietary needs they never take an issue. Vagas Sunday roasts are to die for and their duck in hoison pizza, wow off the chart.

Probably the best pub meal we've ever had. We had a Sunday roast (a big portion, fresh, comes with a salad of boiled veggies and potatoes/mash) and a steak pie (absolutely delicious and humongous). Sticky toffee was weirdly spongy, but it come with the best toffee ever. I'd recommend reserving a table- we got the last one available.

Just had takeout Sunday dinner. it was absolutely beautiful. Definitely be back.

Great pub food! Enjoyed dinner here with sailing friends and we all enjoyed our food - dog friendly too! Lasagne and Salad was very tasty, but the Scallops were just fabulous. Lots of people picking up takeaway pizza, obviously has a good local reputation as it was busy.

We turned up on NYE without a booking and the staff kindly slotted us in. Both had the 3 meat roast dinner. Absolutely loved it. Food was great, staff were great, service was great, atmosphere was great! Wouldn't bother looking around elsewhere as you can find it here in this tucked away charming pub. Thank you guys!

Came for a meal with my wife and son , we chose the pie and my son had the scampi . Excellent food . Well displayed and good quality . The team were attentive and looked after us well . Big shout out to “andrea” , a very pleasant lady . Nothing was too much trouble . Give the bar a go . It’s deceiving on the outside .

Booked over the phone for a table for 2 on a Sunday afternoon, they happily fitted us in we arrived around 4pm to a very busy little cosy place, they seated us and then we had a little browse of the menu, we had the vagabond feast 12" pizza and a vegetarian Sunday roast with extra potatoes this along with 3 pints of poretti came to £45.50 good value for what we had and a really enjoyable Sunday lunch was had. Staff friendly, atmosphere good a lovely little place a must go in Whitehaven.

This is a fabulous little pub, probably not the best for just dropping in for a drink, only because it is booked solid with tables for food! Rightfully so, their food is fresh, quality ingredients, home cooked recipes. Absolutely delicious. I had the Sicily Penne, my husband had the harrissa lamb, my daughter (who is autistic, and very fussy when it comes to flavours and textures) had the Hungarian goulash. Each dish was hot, cooked fresh, so tasty, worth waiting for. They also have a specials board with a catch of the day, a butchers cut of the day, on Sundays they do an amazing roast dinner selection too, with fab cauliflower cheese (so yummy) I would definitely suggest booking a table rather than trying to walk in and hope to get seated we have never been in and it's been quiet. They also have a good selection of local draught beers, local wines, a good wine list, an extensive spirits section plenty for gin, vodka and rum lovers. Desserts there are always homemade cheesecakes, Hartley's ice creams, sticky toffee pudding, apple pie, plus a cheese board if you don't have a sweet tooth. They also have a large selection of pizzas to choose from upstairs there is a huge wood fired pizza oven, all made fresh to order. I honestly think The Vagabond is a hidden gem, and probably one of the best places in the area to get good, tasty food from. Main meals range from £13-£20 but they are worth every penny. As I said my advice BOOK first.

We have been to The Vagabond frequently over the course of several years as we are frequent visitors to the nearby Marina. We have never been disappointed. We don't mind that here is often quite a wait as all the food is cooked from scratch using fresh ingredients. There is freshly cooked pizza svailable with chips and salad if required. There is also a good selection of beers available. Oh, and the Ferrero Rocher cheesecake is to die for - don't forget to try it!

Took my new wife for a meal whilst staying in the area. I have a large appetite and the food was all home cooked and generous in portion. The ladies were lovely to my Thai wife as well so we will definitely be returning to this warm, friendly, tasty place. Thank you namaste 🙌

Great food and service love the pizzas

Only stopped by for a drink, and it was heaving. The front of house staff were very welcoming and accommodating. They popped us on a table that was free for half an hour before their next reservation.

Another visit , to Vagabond. With new friends, all they could talk about when we got back to the house, was how good an evening we had service and food top notch, presentation and quality outstanding, yep will be returning before we head home.

We have been customers for too long to write a specific review The food is fantastic , the owners and staff are always accommodating , pleasant and attentive even with kids in tow ! There is often an interesting guest ale on tap to try . Highly recommend the pizza and cheesecake .

A last minute booking on our way home from a long journey. Just wanted to get to the pub and relax with drinks before our meal. Had a good table and we were not rushed to order our food even if the pub closes the kitchen early on a Sunday night. I had steak and my wife had the Chicken and Ham pie. Excellent portion size. Food was very good with a very well cooked steak, fries and side salad. My wife enjoyed her pie and fries. value for money is very good. Really good pub food. I strongly recommend it

I was silly and didn’t book anywhere for bank holiday. I am new to the area and thought I wouldn’t get in anywhere. I tried the vagabond and the waitresses kindly squeezed us in. Food, service and atmosphere was all brilliant, will absolutely be returning again but next time I’ll ensure I book and have plenty of cash for tips. Thank you!

Absolute great evening meal, great friendly staff, couldn't fault anything. Tried the Hungarian goulash, meat was so tender n tasty, defo recommend, steak cooked to perfection, cant wait to return.

We came here for Sunday lunch, we had booked a table over the telephone. We were given a table upstairs. Our orders were taken promptly however it took ages for the food to arrive. That being said, the staff kept checking in saying it wouldn’t be long so at least we knew we’d not been forgotten about. The food portions were absolutely massive! We even got a bowl of vegetables each, plus a bowl of cauliflower cheese. The Yorkshire pudding was possibly the best I’ve tasted, but the meat whilst ok, wasn’t the best.

Unfortunately when we arrived there was very limited space and we could in stay for an hour. Therefore decided July to have a pint and moved on to a different location.

Had a family meal here .food was nice only gripe would be way too much salad .staff were very attentive and friendly.

I was having a nice evening here until the waitress was taking away our plates and accidentally spilt all the of the chicken tikka sauce over my lap. It landed all over my jeans and my coat. Not great but these things happen. She apologised and then proceeded to brought me a dry napkin to wipe it off. I said do you have any wet towels as the napkin was not having any effect. They found one and then I headed to the toilets to soak my coat and jeans to remove the sauce and make the best of tidying myself up. When I came back I went to pay the bill and that's where it got interesting. She just gave me the bill, never said at that point that she apologised again (as you would) and just presented me with the bill. I thought it odd that she didn't say sorry again as you would normally would out of embarrassment. I was not offered a penny off the bill for the inconvenience and when I said I will now have to get my coat dry cleaned as its not one you can just wash nothing was said. The young duty manager then intervened and when I said I think it's only fair something should be knocked off the bill, he said "accidents happen and we do't offer discounts for accidents" Wow OK I thought. So I then requested to see the owner. The duty manager was mopping the floor where the curry had landed and I asked again to see the owner and he carried on mopping and said I will get him in a minute. I said now please as we had finished and were ready to leave and enjoy the rest of our evening. I'm now also smelling very fragrantly of chicken tikka masala. At this point I thought their customer service was lacking a bit. So after a couple of minutes the male owner appeared and he went behind the bar and asked me what had happened. I explained the story and he showed no real interest and there was NO "sorry" from him. He then said "well what do you want off the bill?" I explained I will need to get my coat dry cleaned as curry sauce can stain and cause permanent damage and my coat was new and over 100 pounds. Again no feeling of sorry from him for my experience. So with that I said why not remove the curry from the bill and that will cover the dry cleaning. At that point he turned away and was on the till adjusting the bill. He then turned back at me and snapped "DON'T EVER COME BACK HERE YOU ARE BARRED". I couldn't believe the rudeness of this guy. He is Basil Faulty in disguise. He then said "I DON'T WANT YOUR TYPE IN MY RESTAURANT". I was gobsmacked. He then shuffled off back upstairs and the young manager just kept saying it was not their problem. As you can imagine I became a little irate and told them what I thought of their restaurant. What an unprofessional way to deal with customers. I have just recently moved to the area and had visited on several occasions and overall had a good experience. The other lady owner is lovely and sadly she had left for the evening. Maybe it would have been a different experience had she been there. Even on the way out the young duty male manager was throwing sarcastic one liners thinking he was being clever. He needs to grow up, but let's face it if the owner acts like that, the staff will follow his approach to customer service. So I've been barred because the waitress spilt curry over me and I politely asked for a token gesture off the bill. BE WARNED - their customer service levels are ZERO and I'll be telling everyone about it. I'm glad I'm banned because I certainly wont ever set foot in the Faulty Towers of Whitehaven again. You get a warmer level of service in Wetherspoons and its better value. Can't wait to hear their response where I'm sure they will turn it back on me. I'm the customer remember guys.

There really are a lot of options on the menu here - both on the menu and a pretty big specials board too! Including a few good veggie options. The pizzas were very tasty. The staff a friendly and welcoming. It's a pretty building from the outside with lovely flowers in hanging baskets. It's a bit more modern inside.

Consistently very good food and excellent value for money. Pizza is specially good. A very busy pub and sometimes service occasionally reflects that as all the food is freshly made. Kind, considerate staff. Definitely recommend it. Booking at weekend is essential as it can be quite busy. Beers on hand pump change regularly and are mostly local brewers.

Great little pub and food- the ghoulash was excellent

The diner was beyond expectations. They do serve a huge range of pizzas, but we chose some fish dishes from the specialty board. Awesome taste, good portions. Would recommend anytime.

We ate here for my husbands birthday on a weekend trip to Whitehaven. It was recommended as a place to eat that wasn't crazy expensive but with very decent food. The portions were really well sized - I only just managed to eat all of my lasagne, and my husband was defeated (most unlike him - he usually finishes my meals!) by his chicken parmigiana. Sadly, neither of us had room for pudding :( A good range of beers and ciders and a really good selection of food on both the menu and the specials board.

We had a get together last night in the Vagabond for my husbands 60th birthday. Food was fantastic and staff couldn't have done anymore for us. Thank you to all the staff for a wonderful night. ❤️

Beautiful food in a cosy atmosphere. Would recommend booking to guarantee a table as it's only a small venue. But the food and service is fantastic would definitely recommend if going out to eat in Whitehaven. The pizzas are to die for and the service is excellent.
