Warm, friendly, traditional Lakeland Inn with good food. Lovely open fire. Nice atmosphere with a mixture of locals and holiday makers.

Dog and family friendly pub. Food exceeded expectations in value for money. The mixed grill was well-received and the sirloin steak was tasty. The prawn and chorizo arrabiata was one of the best I’ve tasted. Only surpassed by the onion rings and chips which the kids described as EPIC. It was better than the last visit in 2022. We will be back. Fine ale as well.

A homemade chicken and mushroom pie, mash, mushy peas and gravy washed down by a pint of local beer...all was excellent. A very friendly welcome and we were given samples of all 3 real ales so we could choose! Pastry on the pie was fabulous! Warm fire, very dog friendly..perfect end to our walk today. Thank you!

Stopped at this pub mid afternoon and thankfully we was able to get some hot food after stopping at quite a few places before who had stopped serving, great pup in a lovely building, very close to the waterfall, and after the lovely food and with landlords direction we decided to head up to the waterfall, that was a beautiful walk along the river, The pub is a great place to get fed anytime of day then set out for a walk, Landlord is very friendly and helpful

Arrived to our campsite in the rain so decided to go to the pub, No food being served so had to go back & cooked in the dark had a beer no atmosphere at all. Tried again 2 days later Thursday as knew they were doing food then no menus anywhere still said no food today outside. When we asked for a menu we couldn't have one as we hadn't booked! At this point it was empty we only wanted a starter but couldn't have a menu. Such a badly run pub which we believe is up for sale again. A few people did come in to eat but not busy we saw young children bringing out the food obviously no staff. The food was very basic looking so not our idea of eating out as so expensive these days. Its a nice place to sit outside & enjoy the view with a beer so do hope it has new owners next time we visit the area! We are ex landlords so we know what busy is & this wasn't !!

Beautiful place, terrible pub. Service told us they stopped serving food at half past seven at night even though, it says on the website and outside that food is served until 8pm. When asked they flatly lied saying they are fully booked when the place was half empty. Also the pub looked scruffy and unpleasant inside. Pity!!

Having booked a table knowing we’re in ‘silly’ season, we were surprised to find the pub quiet. However, we definitely lucked out! The welcome was friendly yet professional. The service prompt, good banter but again professional. The food was delicious! The Cumberland Sausage Yorkshire Pudding was a triumph! Seasoned beautifully. The gravy was ‘proper’, chips crispy and the peas and mash were excellent. The Yorkshire Pudding was fantastic! Crispy but soft and yummy in the middle. Overall a truly excellent lunch topped of with fabulous local ale. I’m sure we will return very soon! Thank you to the staff on this lunchtime you made us feel very welcome.

A traditional pub I would daresay in a very amazing / central location, which offers accommodation as well (which we came to know later). The food was amazing and my 6 year kid enjoyed the pizza and fries. The chicken burger portions were massive and especially after a long walk, the food here will be enough to bring your energy back. The pub has a lot of history, evident from the photos displayed, that were taken almost 100 years old. The hosts are ever accommodating, and I would definitely ask you to try their pizza or burgers. There are tables on the back and on outside for a sunny day. Pool table is also available

This is easy - absolutely brilliant! A quintessential Inn situated amidst stunning views all round. The Lake District is a place where many 'real' Inns can be found, with this one particularly well situated. The accommodation is self catering so, other than some lunch and an evening meal, take some stuff with you. The rooms are clean and well fitted if you want to eat in or just 'get lost' in the panoramic views. Jo and her staff are priceless here, supporting a happy atmosphere leaving you in no doubt, you've been to 'heaven'.

I've known this Inn for many years, visiting infrequently. It was recently taken over to see the new owners carrying out a subtle refurb. The staff, led by Jo ('Scoish' 😂) are all helpful, friendly and only want the best for you. We stayed there August 8th til the 12th and thoroughly enjoyed it! Besides the fact the weather was beyond brilliant, seriously enhancing the sun-lit majestic views; the banter I shared with mainly Jo, then her staff and guests REALLY made it for me! We will be going back!

Really poor quality food. Pizza on a ready made base, with cheese mix. Nachos, with off guacamole that was fermented, and not a single whole tortillas chip, but instead what appeared to be a bowl if crumbs from the bottom of a bag. The chips were good, but it's fairly easy to fry frozen frys. I so wanted to like this place, but it's just poor. Also no signal and terrible WiFi that you can only access from one table in the restaurant.

If we need to book a table is recommended to tell costumers in advance as we stayed here and had not food and there is nothing available to go for dinner so we can't have dinner today. Want to be able to give it more stars :/ Nice to have a chip shop in such a small village. Easy to find, nice young woman behind the counter. As she was cooking the fish, I thought - hmm- should be now.... or now... or now. Well, so probably was, so a bit overcooked. Chips were good (glad I saw her salt/vinegar an order or 2 before mine so I could say 'no, thank you' to waaaay too much salt. Got an order of cold slaw. Ok - was a serving of mayo with some cabbage in it. Hope they consider some adjustments! Then would recommend.

This place is unreal! Honestly you could not write how bad it is, it’s that bad you just have to laugh. There is absolutely no organisation at all. There were 3 waiting on members of staff, none of which had a clue. They wandered around aimlessly with food & drinks with absolutely no idea what table they were for. They were in & out of the kitchen with the same plates of food, it was just bizarre. One table, while we were there, were given their mains at the same time as their starters! We had to ask for our table to be cleared, if you asked for anything it took them at least 20 minutes. I have never seen such poor service. Food was ok, nothing special. The only reason to return would be the comedy value, you cannot believe your eyes!

Shockingly dirty for a place serving food. Chairs an absolute disgrace. Dirty, stained, marked. I'm amazed environmental health hasn't been in and told them to get them cleaned. If it was only one I could have attempted to make some sort of excuse. But it wasn't. A group of us had gone for lunch but we all decided to find somewhere else. I'm honest baffled how Dixons are getting away with it? The Terrace cafe in Workington put this place to shame. I'm amazed people were eating there. We wouldn't go back. Pictures enclosed. Zoom in guys. Truly mehhhh 🙈🤮
