Attended a christening and it was lovely, great friendly staff and the food was good too

Staff were excellent and helpful however the meal was moderate. Chips could of been cooked better.

Appalled at my meal tonight, nearly walked off the plate it was that raw. I am very disappointed as a loyal customer of the golf club. I got a mixed grill and the lamb chop was shocking and very raw. My girlfriend who also very heavily pregnant, got a burger and hers was also pink in the middle. Really let down by the meals tonight. It’s a shame as I really enjoy going there.

We selected to golf club because we have always had good service and food here. We were visiting for a meeting so booked early to beat the queue ( based on previous attendance) we were attended to straight away for drinks but then everything went downhill from there. After 40 minutes I had to approach the bar to ask when they were taking orders for food they came straight away. Only to come back twenty minutes later to say the starters on the specials were gone. I chose the special trio of sliders . No mention of cheese on the listed ingredients so I was happy. Only for it to arrive ( now at being present 1hr20mins ) with cheese on two out of the three. I would have sent it back but we had to leave very shortly after for our meeting. The only slider I ate was dry . The worst experience I have had at this place. It’s tainted all my previous experiences there. Not once did anyone apologise for delays.

Family dinner, party of 15 for father-in-law’s 80th birthday. Emailed meal choices in advance. Service was both friendly and efficient. Food and drinks were delivered without delay. All meals were served within a short space of time so all could eat together. The quality of the food was high and as a result there were many clean plates. Given the number of covers being served in the restaurant, as well as hosting a function in a separate room, this was an achievement- well done and thank you. Very happy to recommend.

Lovely place! We were there after a funeral. We were there on the 17th. Afternoon funeral tea,excellent. Especially catering for my gluten free husband... Many thanks.

We had a lovely family Christmas get together here, the staff were fantastic very attentive, the food all came out at the same time, no easy job with 12 of us and was great, everyone enjoyed theirs, my only criticism would be we were on two large round tables put together which didn't lend itself to being able to have conversations with the whole group, it would have been better with oblong tablets, but it didn't ruin the lunch.thank you to all for a lovely lunch we will be back👍

Had a fabulous Xmas Dinner at Whitehaven Golf Club last night. TBH, I go there frequently and the food is always very nice, but last night's was outstanding. The Staff are very helpful and kind, the dinning area is pleasant, warm and clean. Well deserved 5*

Came here for an evening meal. Waitresses were friendly and service was quick. I had the beef madras with rice. The beef was cooked well, although for my tastes there could have been more sauce and a little bit spicier.

Called in again for lunch, booked on the day. We arrived early but they very kindly had a table for us. The food and service was excellent as before on our first visit. Will call again

Booked a table for lunch today as in west Cumbria as my partner is coeliac so requires gluten-free food. We found that they catered exceptionally well for special diets with lots of choices for all. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, the staff were excellent and the food didn't disappoint. Fantastic around.

We were a group of 20 people who had originally booked Brewers Fayer at Howgate for food. On arrival we were told that they didn't have our booking and that they wouldn't accommodate us. We had called them on Friday evening to confirm this booking and was told "yes we have your booking for 6.30pm". So now we have 20 hungry people, but a phone call to Whitehaven Golf club and they said " yes we can accommodate you, but please give us an hour to sort the tables out" We arrived to a very warm welcome from the staff, we were seated and our orders taken. The waitress that took our order asked if we would like the kids meals brought out with the starters, excellent customer service. Now on to the food we had a variety of items from the menu and LET ME TELL YOU THE FOOD WAS WONDERFUL, not a single complaint. Personally I had a steak and asked for it to be rare, it was cooked to Perfection. We will be back again individually and as a group. WELL DONE WHITEHAVEN GOLF CLUB, This is how customer service should be and has gained new returning custom.

Beautiful food. Course ok, bit wet in places, still construction going on but ok.

Really enjoyed the course, its kept beautifully, the fairways are wide, the greens are good. Just the 15th hole being dug up (there's a temp tee) stops me giving 5 stars. Lovely club house and nice beers. All the staff and members i met were friendly and welcoming 👍

Nice food and a good atmosphere… We visited on a Thursday night at 6pm and it was packed, nice to see but surprising for a Thursday - I’m glad we booked! Despite it being so busy, we were shown to our table as soon as we entered and the drinks order was taken, the drinks arrived really quickly which was great. For food, there’s a really good sized menu with your usual pub meals and a few other dishes on there if you fancy something a little different, there’s also a specials menu which surprisingly had a good amount of choice! - Also, bonus points for the specials being on a printed page for each table as opposed to a blackboard somewhere near the bar. I chose to go for the teriyaki beef stir fry noodles which came looking brilliant and the flavour didn’t disappoint in the slightest… The first bite to the last was thoroughly enjoyable! The beef was tender and the noodles were cooked perfectly, my only criticism with this dish is that it was a noticeably smaller portion than the other meals on the table for a similar price (if not a little more expensive) - I was still a bit hungry after the meal. The staff were all very friendly and attentive, the seating area was also nice and tidy with no dirty tables or mess on the floor - it’s clear that Whitehaven Golf Club takes pride in themselves and their reputation. I’d highly recommend to anyone looking for a modern pub meal with ample parking.

I was at the golf club tonight and ordered the lasagne, it was awful. It was just melted cheese and I had to look for the pasta, not nice at all. I know the place was busy but the service wasn’t great either. I won’t be going back in a hurry

Went for tea to celebrate Matt's birthday and went healthy but was not disappointed. Had prawn cocktail for starters and mixed meat salad with a jacket potato for main. Both were excellent and well presented. Salad huge and filling really enjoyed. Well worth visit. Service professional and staff welcoming.

Lovely lunch, large portions and great choice.

Waited 50 mins for our order to be taken, then another 20 mins until it arrived. Food was ok but lukewarm decided to skip the dessert and left, got home and discovered we'd been charged for large merlot instead of medium, so not a great experience.😔

Took my family 2nite for a meal....2 pints of flat coke to start with ..followed by a dish of slop in a dish with puff pastry on top supposedley steak pie ???? Lasagne had raw beef inside...discgusting.!!! With warmed up veg from dinner time...asked for side orders which never arrived...??? And all we got all evening from staff was..... everything ok??????? Well trained i agree but bit of a joke in all honesty......Im afraid its a hole in NONE....from me.....🥺

Nice place to meet up with friends for pint and bar food. Dropped a star as staff very young/inexperienced and not too quick to serve - maybe think about an experienced supervisor to better organise and avoid waiting.

Went on Saturday 12. 2 22, my self and wife got the sweet chilli chicken and was not the best,could have been out of a jar of uncle Ben's.i have been before and food was much better, might have changed the chief who knows.The service from the waiters was first class.

Well went to Whitehaven Golf Club for the Wifes Birthday meal grate team and the service was great food lovely don't think the pictures do it justice.

Beautiful building with breath taking views! It's a must for anyone out at Whitehaven to visit. Staff are also friendly- even when understaffed with current world situations.

We visited to eat and watch the England football games.The food was excellent especially the chilli chicken and the Lasagne. The sweets were scrumptious and the price was reasonable and the service impeccable. This is a well run club ,with stunning views at an affordable price.

Met up with family for a meal. Have to say we were rather disappointed with our meals. 3 of us got our meals first, chips looked liked they had been cooked then reheated. 2, had steak pie, the meat was big chunks. However the gammon was nice 🙄

Better than I expected. But only played 9 holes as we were soaked. Nice club house. There must be some rich people live there .

Reviews mixed but got to get out, had Xmas lunch fab 4veg all cooked well .2pigs in blankets 2moist big slices turkey Yorkshire pudding stuffing mash and 2dry nice roast potatoes.xmas pudding microwaved but moist both ice-cream and sauce .maybe choose cheesecake or posset next time for dessert .surroundings staff and meal lovely also 2jugs gravy with mains.for women a treat as it's usually cold by time you cook serve and eventually sit down on the day and no dishes .thanks to everyone .ignore reviews and go see for yourself .

I would not even give one star for tonight. After an hour of waiting for are food a family next to us who came 20 minutes after we arrived had there food taken to the table we got up and left because my 2 year old daughter was starving .. shocking .. and to top it of the floor managers answer to the problem was .. give them there drinks for free we have to keep it rolling then walked off .. terrible

Great course in summer very very heavy in winter

Went for a meal on Christmas Eve and was disgusted when there was a BEETLE in my sisters chips and as all the other food had been brought out at the same time the chips on that meal would have been cooked together. The staff were not much help as they brought her another one but the chips where then undercooked and they did not give us a refund after.Would not recommend as un hygienic

Only been for food once but was lovely and wide space so you don't feel cramped!

The food and staff of this place make lunch a pleasure. The lunch menu gives a vey pleasant problem, I would have been very happy with at least three of the offerings but went for the Steak and Stilton pie, Superb. Add the friendly efficient staff and even a full gale and heavy rain could not ruin the day. BUT a very unfortunate bit of design remains. Which idiot designed the building to deny the dining room one of the best views in England ?

Popular place. Nice surroundings and atmosphere. Staff welcoming and helpful. Reasonable choice on menu with a selection of specials to chose from. Didn't have to wait too long for our meal.

I have only ever been here to eat. Sunday dinner is superb, one of the best in Cumbria.

Went to give blood - nice place and good easy access with loads of parking.
