Like I said, a real shame, lovely location and huge potential to be nice. What I don't appreciate is watching the owner scream at and belittle those in her employment, all of which appear to be young and at one point, reduced one young girl to tears. Not well managed at all. The food, although for the most part appeared to be well presented, was undercooked in areas and completely covered in rock salt and spoilt the meal. After further enquiry I found out that the kitchen is ran by teenagers and pretend who are not proper cooks and do not have the necessary food hygiene training. Most things are from frozen and almost everything is microwaved. Over all would not recommend. Over priced and poor quality.

Visited here after a trip around Maryport. The main highlight of the visit here was the chips, as they were simply divine. If in the area again then I would come back here just for the chips. The service was pleasant throughout. The burgers sounded amazing on the menu and I chose the 'Ben Nevis' burger (burgers with haggis, cheese and onions). Unfortunately the burger was simply 'alright', as the taste did not live up to expectations. I came away with no long lasting impression of the burger.

Three girls, one vegetarian and she actually had a choice of Quorn nuggets or Veggie burger! The food was beautifully served and the chips were delicious. Not a scrap left on any of their slates. Friendly service and great for lounging in between activities. Great value and reasonable prices on adult menu but for Children the portions were just right for hungry 10 year old girls and I thought it was cheap.

My family arrived at the Wave, and parked in the car park over the road, and we walked through the small path to the side near the drinks machine, where we were shocked by birds trying to attack us from the canopy up above,,my grandchildren were very frightened, this is where we nearly went home, not just because of the birds, but because of all the bird POO,,it's was disgusting and it looked like it had acumilated over a period of time,,,the drinks machines and windows were covered to we ran to the main doors to find it shattered but still working ,,now I would think these problems to be health and safety issues...Please, please, please Wave staff/manager sort the Poo problem out and smarten your beautiful building up, you have and work in fantastic environment and everyone I talk to says the same.. NOW... My family were very hungry, (that's the reason we didn't go home) The carvary was EXCELLENT,,🎉(except for burnt yorkshire puds, lol,) truly it was. There was plenty of choice for everyone it was hot and very tasty the little ones liked the fact they could go back for seconds and thirds if they needed to,they didn't, because they were storefed and so was there granda....😎 ,,,what let the meal down for me was seeing the chef and assistant,, uniforms looked dirty, I know they probably been extremely busy, but please, it made me think what was the kitchen like!!! 🤔 I wish all the the staff good luck and good health, and I hope the manager wishes that for everyone who visits,🍀 🤗

Been here a few times in recent years, fair to say service greatly improved and food very good. Had the cavery today which was hot and tasty. Pricing seems good too, surprised the cafe wasn't busier as clip and climb had plenty of folk in, shame people are missing out.

Came to eat after Clip and Climb. Two of us had carrot cake which was nice but the others were seduced by an exciting looking iced cake, when cut this was a radioactive pink colour and tasted like pure sugar! The staff were OK, the older ones seemed good but the young lads just wandered looking disinterested when a good wipe round with a clean cloth wouldn't have gone amiss.

Awful! I had gone to have a coffee with a friend and in the mean time waiting for them I put the TV on available to customers, when the manager came over and was completely belittling and nothing but rude to a paying customer! Asking my why I was there and after i explained she continued to be unnecessarily rude and nasty! For no reason what so ever. Wouldn't certainly not recommend!

I am not an impatient person. If I have been acknowledged I will sit and wait to have my order taken for a good amount of time. Free wifi ask for code at reception desk to pass the time! This was the third time I have attempted to get service and left without ordering anything. It is bizarre and has never ever happened anywhere else. After a patient wait again today I watched a young lad wander along among tables looking at his phone then go behind the counter. Decided to go up and ask if he could take our order. "Someone will be with you" he said. No one appeared. Yes I know it's school holiday time but the other times were low season so put that down to less staff. Would have loved to have posted a good review but won't be back now. The cafe was not full by the way.

We attended a Clip n Climb party including Peak Lounge food today with our 6 year old. The kids stuff was spot on. But, ordering adult snacks was a slow process. "Take a seat and we'll be with you" is nice but not if it takes 15 mins to order two coffees and scones. We shared a table with friends and all our food was on one order, and was perfectly nice. We left first and paid for our snacks. Later another of our group told me he had to pay for all as PL said no payments had been made. I tried to phone and sort it but no answer. It can't be that difficult to process a payment to the correct order. It's only £9 but still...

Looks good on first impression but large, high-backed chairs very heavy and difficult to move. Wobbly tables. Always unacceptable. Why don't owners do their own ''snagging''?Menu - folded up and disguised as promo literature. One menu wasn't even current so couldn't order either of the two tasty-sounding veggie burgers listed on it i.e. the veggie burger that was available was based on carvery veg ''left-overs'', including brussel sprouts! Uummmmm! Service - Delivered by a young ''Mrs Overall''. Tea and Milk spilled on the tray then twee little milk bottle knocked over on to table by Mrs O! Waitress took ages to get cloth to mop up. To ensure the milk didn't run off table and into our laps we had to use napkins from an uncleared table nearby! As for the napkins we did get with our food they were hidden under the various garlic bread, burgers and fries accompanying our meals! In other words, they were drenched in garlic butter and fat and unusable! And why no plates? Slabs of slate - a pointless gimmick! Chips in miniature frying baskets. Not practical. Guess what happens when you pour vinegar on the chips? Yes! It runs off the slate on to the table.Food - the kids' burgers were minute - two bites. The ''tortellini'' ordered was actually ravioli BTW but did taste good.Ben Nevis burger - very good; couldn't fault it.In summary, train the staff, check the menus are up to date, sort out the wobbly tables, buy some crockery. There are too many gimmicky knick-knacks which just detract from the food, which is pricey enough and too small in the case of the kids portions. This should be a really desirable place and I hope these comments are taken as constructive and not condescending. I am not just having a moan.

Hardly anyone at the tills, although staff were just wandering around aimlessly, had to ask 3 times for our drinks, and then, they got the order wrong! Before we started our session in the clip and climb at the Wave centre, my wife, daughter and I thought we would get something to eat in the ‘Café’ in the centre …What a surprise! This is far more than a standard leisure centre cafe, with a wide selection of foods from sandwiches, cakes and gourmet burgers there is enough for most people if you want a snack with a tastes of something different. The selection of burgers range from Crocodile, Zebra, Alpaca, Beef and more. The presentation is lovely and the home made chips are excellent. The sandwich my wife had was packed with filling and tasted lovely. If I was to critique this at all, The setting is a little confusing because we were expecting a basic Leisure centre burger and chips cafe, this would be more suited to a high street bistro, however the setting is pleasant and the staff are very friendly and helpful . the prices can seem a little high, however you do get a lot for your money. Therefore if you want a snack with a twist while visiting Maryport (regardless if you intend to use the leisure centre) I would totally recommend the Peak Lounge but if do want just a quick cheap snack before a climb this may not be the place for you….try Mcdonalds!

They have an excellent gourmet burger menu based on a range of exotic meats ranging from zebra to crocodile - these are no gimmicks and after trying the 'sample menu' - three burgers and three beers I have to say each one was uniquely delicious - props to the chef!I also tried my wife's Aberdeen Angus and haggis burger which from the few bites she allowed me was also to drawer! Highly recommended - even though this was situated inside the 'wave' - a tourist centre it was a really relaxing atmosphere and friendly staff.

Walked from Keswick centre to Nichol End Marina. A lovely walk but was glad when I arrived at the marina cafe. Roger (jolly Roger) welcomed me in and was so helpful and friendly. It was quiet as the season is coming to an end. I had an oat milk coffee and a raisin sticky toffee scone. It was so big! Put half in a bag to take home. Plenty of choice of scones all fresh and looking delicious. Prices were so reasonable. Roger then gave me a ride in his boat across Derwent Water. He’s such a nice man. It made my day to find a gem of a place. Would def recommend if in the area. Will return and try out the boating/canoeing etc next year.
