We booked a table at Paisley's Restaurant by telephone a couple of weeks in advance of our visit and were told the booking was fine. Imagine our surprise then when we arrived at the Crag Manor Hotel to find their restaurant was closed. We were told it had not opened since the Covid lock-down and would not be opening for the foreseeable future. So why was our telephone booking accepted? Paisley’s Restaurant is part of the Crag Manor Hotel. If that’s how they treat their guests, I’m surprised anyone actually stays there!

Didn’t really want a big meal tonight having been filled with last nights Indian and full English breakfast Again booked this again the day before wasn’t sure what to expect with this establishment being part of an hotel Oh forgot one reason we booked here was my wife’s favourite sweet was on the menu ,Eaton Mess and to be honest I think she would have this for all three courses given the chance But having had chicken supreme and a mince beef and onion pie the sweet was the icing on the cake ,so to speak

After reading the brilliant reviews here and seeing the delicious-sounding menu, we were very excited to book at Paisleys last night. We booked a table for 8pm - upon arrival, no one had greeted us so we waited at the bar for five minutes. We were then told by a rather moody brunette woman to sit down while they got our table ready for us, with no offer of drinks while we wait. After ten minutes, we asked how long it would be until our table was ready and were told ‘soon’, with again no drinks service. After another ten minutes, I went to the bar to get some drinks but was told to go to our table and they would take our order there. We were then seated in a restaurant with no atmosphere whatsoever - no music playing, and no other diners talking to the point where you’re scared to raise your voice above a whisper - and with all the tables with diners on jammed so close together, whilst the rest of the restaurant was clear. Finally a waiter came over, and simply stood at our table with an extremely sour expression on his face, not saying a word. I had to ask both what the soup of the day and the roast of the day were, both which were met with mutters. We then said we’d order some drinks first of all - two pints - and then order food after. The waiter just looked at us blankly and tapped our menus, impatiently suggesting we must order now. The final straw was finding that our water glasses were completely disgusting, covered in smears and grease marks. We went straight to the waiter and cancelled our drinks order, informing him that we were leaving, to which we were met with more blank stares. Granted, this waiter does speak fluent English as we heard him talking to the others. I have never walked out of a place before having even one drink. The customer service here is astonishingly bad, and we were made to feel incredibly unwelcome. All of the staff need a serious lesson on how to treat the customer, with the dark-skinned male waiter needing particular attention. We ended up having a beautiful three-course meal at Hylton’s in town - highly recommend!

My family and I had a nice meal at this restaurant, you are shown to the longue from where you choose your food from a good menu. The dining room is lovely laid out with linen tablecloths. The service was very good and the portions, not huge but more than enough. The crumble was good and it was nice to have ice cream and custard rather than having to choose one or the other. There are lovely views from the dining room.

We were shown to the lounge and presented with menu's. which was varied. I am a vegetarian but found some nice options to choose from. The Restaurant is very elegant, however it advertises that it has a wonderful lake view form the windows of the Restaurant, which it has but at a distance. Overall the meal was lovely and the service good.

This is a traditional hotel restaurant with starched white linen table covers, gleaming cutlery and condiment holders all set out, with stunning views of Lake Windermere. The portions are not massive but the quality of the food surpasses this and there is enough, as you will want to leave room for one of their lovely deserts. On my first visit I ordered the crispy salmon, which I can honestly say was the freshest and best cooked that I have ever had. The vegetables were also cooked to perfection with just a touch of crunch. On our second visit we tried the roast of the day which was roast lamb, this is my wife's favourite but I am not normally a fan of lamb. So tender and tasty was this portion, that if I could get this every time, I could not resist it. The waiting staff were predominantly eastern european and they could not have been any more attentive and welcoming. We shall definitely go here again when we are next in Windermere.

Dinner on a hot July evening. 90% empty but still seated in a glaring hot spot. Very friendly staff and good food at good prices, but it could be better. Lamb was lovely but the duck was cremated. Duck can be cooked exactly like lamb and won't kill you if it's a little pink. Oh, and chefs all over, including here, why mess with Creme Brulee ? It's perfect as it is and doesn't need loading with Irish Cream. Keep the faith, improve a little and all those empty seats will start to fill up on day's other than Sunday lunch !

Been a regular visitor to this lovely restaurant with beautiful views over the lake for many years.. The staff are super friendly and welcoming and the food is simply delicious. The Sunday carvery is extremely popular... and if you try it you'll know why.. a choice of 3 perfectly cooked and presented roasts carved for you by their head chef, served with the tastiest gravy and fresh vegetables.. Try their mouthwatering soup to start.. it's to die for!! And always different each Sunday..Dinner is gorgeous too.. steaks are always juicy and beautifully cooked, the chicken stuffed with brie is a delight.. and I was quite jealous of a friend who had ordered the roast of the day.. it looked divine! You won't get a better Sticky Toffee Pudding anywhere.. and their 'twist' on an apple crumble keeps me in a constant dilemma on which to choose! The restaurant is in The Craig Manor Hotel.. where the reviews on food are great.. it's the same restaurant.. yummy!

This was our second visit to Paisley's Restaurant (part of the Craig Manor Hotel, located on Lake Road, Windermere) and we weren't disappointed. We booked a table for our family of 7 on Mother's Day, expecting the cost of their 3-course carvery to be inflated for the special occasion, but it wasn't - it was still the very reasonable price of £15.95. It was a beautiful, warm, sunny day and the view of the Langdale Pikes from the restaurant window was simply stunning. As for the food, it was perfect! All the starters were thoroughly enjoyed and the carvery was delicious. There was a good choice of puddings and they were very, very good! We had the sticky toffee pudding, sherry trifle and fruit crumble - yum! If we could make one suggestion to improve what is already very good, it would be to take a drinks order when seating people and bring the drinks to the table. Hope this doesn't sound lazy(!), but once seated you don't then want to have to get up and go out to the separate bar. We really enjoyed our meal and the staff were lovely - friendly and attentive - so we would happily recommend Paisley's to others.

on our first night we decided to try one of the nearest restaurants to our b and b. Booking by phone was tricky with language problems but soon we were booked. The set up when you arrive is strange. You buy your drinks at the bar and sit in the lounge where a menu is brought to you and your order is taken. Then when it is ready to be served you are escorted to your table in the dining room. Our table was booked for 8.00 but we didnt sit at our table until 8.40. The dining room was beautifully decorated. The food was lovely and the staff attentive. The mains were lovely. I requested the baileys creme bruele for dessert. which was nice but the sugar crust was not hard - a blowtorch being held for a little longer on a thicker sugar crust would have solved this, but it was still enjoyable. I would visit again and would still recommend this to everyone.

Paisley's Restaurant is part of the Craig Manor Hotel, located on Lake Road, the main road between Windermere and Bowness. Their 3-course carvery for £15 was recommended to us by the owner of our holiday cottage. The restaurant has the most beautiful view - you can see over the trees and lake to the gorgeous Langdale Pikes. Lovely. Fortunately, the food was just as good! After choosing and enjoying your starter, you head to the carvery counter where there is a choice of meats (and the amount given is very generous) and a selection of potatoes and other vegetables. Puddings were to die for - especially the sticky toffee pudding and the chocolate tart, mmmm! Our meal was lovely and the staff were friendly and helpful. Will definitely return for Sunday lunch next time we are in the Lakes.

After a day of walking in the lake district, this was the Sunday meal you'd be dreaming of! As a part of the Craig Manor Hotel, it was not a place that we would have normally looked to eat. However we had some friends staying there and were invited to join them for dinner. It was lovely, the staff were very pleasant and happy to deal with all sorts of enquiries about their hotel, and the food. The meal was perfect. We really enjoyed ourselves. We were a little disappointed that the hotel bar closed up and locked the front door by 11;15 pm so we had to leave via the back entrance in the dark to get to our taxi. They were not helpful in arranging the taxi either, as most restaurants usually are.

The food quality was brilliant - best lamb dish I've ever had and fantastic dauphinoise potatoes accompanying it. We had a travelzoo deal which included the meal so thought we might get a separate limited choice menu but it was the same as the normal menu which was really good. We enjoyed the service and the fantastic views - we were lucky enough to be right by the window. The reception area of the hotel is a little jaded so we didn't know what to expect of the restaurant but we really liked its traditional style and charm, especially the mirrored wood panelling. We also liked that the wine came in an ice bucket.

The Paisley restaurant is attached to the Craig Manor Hotel in Bowmess and unless you are a resident you are made to feel like a second class citizen. The Headwaiter is arrogant and table seating is done for convenience of the waiter rather than the client - We sat with the setting sun in our eyes with closely clustered with other diners while the remainder of the restaurant was essentially empty. All this would have been fine if the food had been up to scratch. It was not and had I not pointedly reminded our waiter that we would like our wine before we had finished eating I am not sure when we would have got it. When it did arrive he literally plonked the bottle down on the table and walked off. He did not even attempt to pour or check that he had the correct bottleA definite pass!

Had a fabulous meal here as, although we weren't staying at the Craig Manor as we have for the last 8 years at Easter we felt we had to pay this restaurant another visit. The food is the best in the Bowness/Windermere area and we have personally eaten at a good few places over the many years we have been coming to this beautiful part of our country. The staff are long serving and are very attentive and pleasant particularly Penny the restaurant manager and Bernie the head chef who have both been here for years. The menu is varied and caters for all tastes in a pleasant and very scenic surrounding. You've tried the rest, now try the best!

Barmaid wanted £36. I said, "£36 for two puddings and a pint and a half?" She immediately reconsidered. "It's £29.50.". She printed me a receipt and said, "You asked for extra custard. Life isn't free, sir." I had indeed asked for extra custard, for which I had only been charged a pound. But obviously, people who query bar bills in the Lakes are regarded as the lowest form of scroungers.
