Fantastic restaurant with plenty of options in a lovely setting.

Stayed with my Mum at the hotel on 28th October for two nights and the first evening we had dinner at The Windermere Restaurant. Meal was absolutely fantastic. Staff were happy and friendly, service was good and couldn’t fault the food. My Mum and I come to The Lakes a lot as we like try the nice restaurants. This meal was as good as any Michelin starred restaurant we have been to in the Lakes. Fabulous food and fabulous service. I’d recommend oh and half the price of the other restaurant we went to on our second night.

Wonderful interior, lake view from the windows and mirrors on the walls. The service is also kind. All the food was overly salty and not very tasty. In any case, it was salty and I felt that the taste of the ingredients was ruined. It's a shame because there are some wonderful pottery pieces.

We were staying at the hotel so decided to eat here on the first night. The service was brilliant, the food took a bit of time to come but we were given an absolutely delicious complementary calamari taster as apology for the delay. The main course when it did come was of exceptional quality. Only negative would be that the portion size was possibly a bit modest for the price.

Beautiful meal here while enjoying spa break, superb food & service. Great atmosphere and ambiance staff were attentive friendly & very helpful will definitely be back.

Beautiful restaurant in a beautiful hotel with the loveliest staff. Huge thank you to Nick who was beyond professional. Gave us a couple of excellent mocktails on the house as we’d had a few minor waits (which we were totally unbothered about). He also put some fresh bread in the oven for us when we asked for bread. Couldn’t have asked for better service. Mushroom soup was excellent as was the fish (both cod and sole) Really enjoyable meal

One of the best three course meals I have had in a long long time. Starters were very good, mains were very very good and puddings were to die for. Throughly recommend the take on beef wellington that they do. Prices were reasonable bearing in mind the current climate. Would give 6 stars if I could.

The food was surreal . Of course I always like eating out ,because eating at home is so boring. When I walked in I sat down and looked at the menu , after a while I ordered a dish . Surprisingly they were very quick and after I put the food in my mouth it felt surreal ... it was the best dish I ever tasted. After a few minutes I had to step outside because I had a call , I had to go into work and couldn't finish my meal. I'm not mad but I hope I can go visit again !

Food and venue extremely disappointing.. noisy bar and restaurant with staff who were unprepared.. Duck pancake starter awful! shredded duck was refried to within an inch of its life and really was just bits of nothing and hard.. Bruschetta bland and didn’t taste freshly made to order .. Fillet steak just ok but lukewarm.. lamb chops lukewarm and really no finesse to them ..had to send back as so cold .. The only thing that was hot were the chips .. ! So basically we ate separately as I waited for lamb chops to be recooked.. had to wait for coffees! The chaos in the bar should have pre warned us .. one barman who was in his first shift with no help ..some staff looked very slovenly! Surely there should be a standard with your dress code .. No staff masks being worn anywhere! Barman couldn’t make cocktails and didn’t know where anything was .. About ten people in queue for drinks. They constantly told us that they were unprepared as there was a wedding in another room .. we paid over £130 for this experience! We were given our bill before asking for it as the waitress said she was going off duty ! Why as guests were still eating ? What if I wanted another drink ? If there are staffing issues please do not pass this on to the customer.. cut your tables down and don’t take so many bookings .. your restaurant is far from fine dining for the prices you charge .. your bar area was so noisy and crowded with young guests shouting that it resembled a pub not a hotel lounge ! It really has to be the worst meal and service I have had in a long time .. I have emailed the hotel manager directly but as yet have not had any response .

Wonderful food in a great setting! Plenty of choice on the menu at reasonable prices. Their Shepherd’s pie was delicious, as was the steak.

Dined here on our last night staying at the Low Wood Bay Hotel. Service was efficient and attentive from start to finish. Enjoyed our meal and drinks thoroughly. I had the vegetable minestrone soup for starter and although it could have been hotter, it was so tasty! My boyfriend would also recommend the prawn cocktail starter. For main I had the coq au vin. The whole dish was really tasty and hot. Would also recommend the beef Wellington.

Booked on the strength of the reviews and we were not disappointed. The restaurant is in a lovely spa resort complex and the setting was very nice as were the staff. I ordered the Salmon Gravadlax and the Beef Wellington both of which were superb and the better half had the Prawn and avocado starter and the Coque au vin main, again both were very accomplished. A nice bottle of Malbec rounded it all off, sadly we were too full for pudding. Both of my choices attracted supplements to the two course cost but were well worth it, thanks for a lovely meal well worth the drive from Barrow where we were staying.

We went to the Windermere the night before our wedding, and were so pleased by how they were able to cater for us, and our small wedding party guests. We were all able to make separate bookings, but they sat us in three tables socially distanced from each other and separated by plastic screens, so we felt extremely secure, could see our family members, and provided a hilarious experience when it came to trying to sign to each other through the screens to check that everyone was having a good time. Again, the staff weren't wearing masks, and came quite close to deliver food, but as all other safety precautions were so on point and strictly adhered to, we're assuming they're regularly checking for negative test results or something of the kind. We loved the food so much that the next night, for our wedding night meal, we ordered some of the same food we had the first night. Cheese souffle starter and the beef wellington are to die for!

Booked this last minute as there was nothing much else available, which turned out to be a great choice. Good quality food, great service and fantastic value for money - 3 course meal for £31pp. Highly recommended.

Had a brilliant meal 31/8/20. I had souffle, vegetarian Wellington and sticky toffee pudding. Thoroughly enjoyed every course and the cocktails/mocktails. We took our 1 year old with us and the servers were very welcoming of him, brought us kids menus and seats and were friendly. Was set price for the food and felt that it was good as included coffee at the end too.

Excellent meal. The set price three course meal was reasonably priced for the quality and all our courses were great, portion sizes very generous too. Post covid 19 they took the social distancing very seriously, tables were well spaced out and cutlery all individually sealed in packets. Service was excellent, I didn’t catch the waiters name but Pavla was an excellent hostess, friendly and attentive. Nice views of Lake Windermere as an extra bonus.

The lamb was delectible. Even with a late finishing wedding the night before the staff could not do enough.

We went for a afternoon tea, staff where welcoming! We could choose if we wanted two of coffee which as a coffee drinker I always think is a plus! There was plenty to eat and all of the sandwiches and cakes were delicious, we were offered more tea and coffee through out and staff asked throughout if we needed anything! Absolutely lovely afternoon

we had dinner and breakfast.Dinner was very good delicate starters and then wham big meaty portions for main and nice selection of deserts.Breakfast was good great selection of hot and cold foods, buffet foodcoud have been a bit hotter and sausages we're large not thin chipolata style. Croissants tasted freshly made!

No solo sin experiencia, sino grosero, sin habilidad en absoluto y parecía que querían estar en otro lugar que no fuera servir.La noche comenzó con nosotros ordenando agua con gas. La parte decepcionante fue cuando regresó un camarero, nuevamente sin idea, y aunque amable trajo un vino diferente al que realmente pidió. Pedimos cambiar el vino (destacando el hecho de que nadie vino a nuestra mesa durante mucho tiempo), pero aparentemente no nos comunicamos que no nos gustó el vino lo suficientemente pronto. Lovely meal in elegant surroundings with fabulous service from friendly and helpful staff. A great choice on the menu, extensive wine list, and everything was so beautifully cooked and very tasty.

Given menus waited 15 mins to be asked if we would like a drink, ordered red from wine menu and brought white, another fine mins and red arrived, poured into white wine glasses, asked for larger red wine glasses told "we have none" went to bar asked there for correct glasses and told no problem will get you some. Food service extremely slow although food quite acceptable. Noticed a table close by gave up waiting to order and gave up and left.The staff are not trained in service, very disappointed, yet the Waterhead hotel same owners, all ways outstanding, strange.

Not on same tour as ECF as we were all Canadians and were there in Sept but exactly same experience down to Guide and Driver being there. Written already in hotel review close to 90 minutes between appetizer and main course and dinner took over 2 1/2 hours ... so much for a walk after as it was too late. Not many lasted til tea or coffee but having to ask three times for milk/sugar but finally gave up and left. Between hotel and restaurant .... never again. Maybe they just dont like tour groups??

Both evenings our tour group of 28 (with tour manager and bus driver) had dinner at The Windermere Restaurant. When we arrived at the hotel we were given a printed menu with 2-3 choices for the appetizer, entrée and dessert and we asked to select our meals. We were also given two paper “chits” to redeem two beverages per person per night.Neither the kitchen or wait staff seemed equipped to efficiently feed a group of this size. They did not have a system to connect the meal we each selected to the actual person sitting at a table. Service was painfully slow between courses and the quality of the food was very inconsistent. Each of us raved about the items that were outstanding (leek soup, crab salad, fish + chips, sticky pudding, and ice cream) …. And we talked about some of the dishes that were just dreadful (the curry entrée, the lamb rump.)I asked, and was told the system of using paper chits for a guest to get a drink came from the hotel/restaurant. It took a very long time to get a drink standing at the bar or asking a waiter from the dinner table. The wine pours were very inconsistent, usually on the small side. And since we paid quite a bit of money for a “luxury tour of the UK”, being limited to two small drinks during our dinners …. that were taking almost 3 hours to be served … I thought this chit policy for drinks to be very stingy. We should have had a bottle of red and a bottle of white wine on every table, and they should have been replaced as needed.

We attended for mum's 70th, we expected something a bit special but instead we were very let down. The room was freezing, as was the soup, there was no cutlery for the soup so it sat cooling even further whilst waiting for spoons, there were no condiments, no atmosphere. When the main course arrived it was less than average, the staff were inexperienced and had to keep running to the kitchen for an answer every time a question was asked, we decided not to stay for any desserts as mum's face was so disappointed. And then we got the bill....... so not worth that!!

Lovely views across the lake. Food was good to great. Service was fine with no long waits for courses. Selection was not entirely to my taste but nicely done. Should have checked out the menu online first.

We took mum here to celebrate her 90th birthday. Beautiful location and really special surroundings. The food was delicious with a good menu choice. The staff were so friendly and the service was excellent. They all made mum feel really special and helped make the occasion on to treasure.

Tenía una familia de 5 personas que comía en el restaurante Windermere, ubicado en el hotel Low Wood Bay Resort & Spa. Buena comida en su mejor! Excelente elección, excelentes cortes de carne y todo fue caluroso y satisfactorio. Todo el personal fue educado, cortés, servicial y atento. Una noche fabulosa se tuvo a un precio razonable para 3 platos. Bien vale la pena reservar para una noche especial! Perfecto !

The a la carte menu had some great choices, so I was spoilt for choice and I ate the best starter I have ever had.

Las camareras y los camareros eran muy alegres y presentaban un crédito al hotel con el que trabajan.

We had Avocado on Sourdough with Poached Eggs and extra smoked salmon, as well as the cooked and continental breakfast choices. All included in our room rate. Really fast service and attentive. Teapigs Tea :) Quiet traditionally English breakfast room. Good choice of food.

The Windermere is a very decent restaurant, the staff are extremely knowledgeable, and helpful. My partner and I ate there on a Friday evening, we had the "Duck two ways" and the Haddock, both dishes were excellent. The Wine list was extensive.

Has been a long time since i was at the Low wood but the building and restaurant Extensions are excellent and adds a new luxury level to the Hotel

Great service, great food, the staff all seemed very happy. The food was well presented and perfectly cooked. The ambience was good and the views from the widow seats were great. One to go to again.

My husband and really enjoyed the meal here.The dining room is elegant looking out towards the lake, the staff welcoming. It serves good quality food locally sourced. You can seat outside on a nice day.

The room is very well laid out and spacious, the staff are very friendly and chatty without being obtrusive, just right. The menu is well thought out and very well cooked. All in all a very pleasant evening.

Had 2 meals here during recent stay at hotel. The food was exceptional both times and the servings very generous. A whole seabass took quite a bit of eating. Service discreet and prompt. Nice atmosphere with some families and small children during half term week. Definitely one for a special occasion (birthdays and anniversaries are marked) On the expensive side but top quality.

Fillet steak was just lovely! Atmosphere was very relaxed on an evening. Breakfast was very good and kept us filled up and fueled for exploring the lakes!

天井が高く、落ち着いた雰囲気のあるレストラン。こちらでディナーと朝食を頂きました。ディナーはコースで前菜から選んで頂きました。イギリスの料理とは思えないほどきれいな盛り付けで美味しかったです。サービスはゆっくりで１品１品の間隔が長かったですが、湖が見えるテーブルで頂いたのでそんなに退屈はしませんでした。朝食はビュッフェで内容が充実していて温かい食事は伝統的なイギリスらしいものがありました。

The food here is great i have eaten here so many times in my life and i love it here. The staff are friendly.

New menu every day. Great variety of choices. There has always been gluten free and veggie/vegan choices available. Nice selection of baked goods. Large portions. Nice wine list and choice of draft beers from UK and Europe. Can't go hungry!

Unfortunately restaurant was occupied by two tables of very loud noisy residents even though place was half empty we we sat in a table adjacent ! Noise appalling manners worse! Half way through meal guests pushed past our table and next one 12 inch gap maximum to go out open fire door behind me I got up and shut it after I'd had my dress trodden on handbag kicked next they were banging and waving to come back in another member of the party pushed past unable to open door member staff came through my husband assures me after he let them push past back in that they couldn't do that again ! I didn't hear that I'd given up eaten my meal and walked out! The staff seemed unable to get a grip on these guests maybe because they were residents and we were only diners the pepper pot also failed tipping contents on to my husbands dinner ! However staff quickly replaced the meal on positive side food lovely beautifully presented and tasty but hassle overwhelmed it my husband wasn't charged for his meal or glasses of wine so nice gesture but not evening I expected

We ate here to celebrate our one year anniversary (we got married at the hotel). The staff were excellent, they remembered us from last year, we were given a decorated lake view table. The service and food was amazing! Highly recommend the pork and sticky toffee pudding! Breakfast the following day was also superb. Highly recommend!

The dining room is small and intimate with beautiful views of the ground and lake. The food was delicious. The staff was very nice.

We were in Windermere and were looking for some where to eat, as we were a party of 6 , and it was early on a Sunday evening....Decided to get on the old internet to find some where as we could telephone rather than just arrive in the hope of a table.From our first contact with them and getting our booking for that night we were met with a kind, friendly voice...Arrived, have to sat Wow, what a location....and same greeting was given on our arrival...we were made more than welcome.menu had plenty of choices, waiters we were served by were lovely & so kind to our two small grandchildren...did not ignore them as can sometimes happen....Both were thrilled to be treated like this..Meals wre fab, hot & yummy.....from starters, mains & deserts.......have to say faultless, the management have laid solid foundations to this business, clearly understanding what the customer wants & how they need to be treated.The views over the lake also added great interest & a conversation item.Made our evening memorable & we would love to visit again....Thank you

We booked a table as we where staying the night for our 1st wedding anniversary. This was complimentary as we got wed here last year. The staff in the restaurant were amazing. They had decorated the table for us and given us a table with perfect views and no one close. It was so romantic and special. We got a free glass of fizz with our meal. My hubby ordered a pre starter of white bate which was fantastic, he then had chicken Caesar salad, his main was belly pork then blackberry sorbet to finish. I ordered butternut squash soup, Cumberland sausage ring and chocolate ice cream. We both had a glass of wine which we asked to be brought out with are mains, it came seconds before our food which was absolutely perfect. We really can not thank the staff enough. The food was perfect. So tasty and cooked just right. The atmosphere in the restaurant was great, nice music playing, even though they where so busy everything ran so smoothly. Thank you so much to the staff. I'm terrible with names but the lady who seated us, her name began with an X, she has short black hair and glasses. I hope she gets to hear how wonderful she is. She really does an amazing job so thank you so much.

I was staying in the hotel for 4 days and I absolutely love the food here. Breakfast and lunch were buffets - particularly the breakfast was with wide range (English and continental breakfasts). I could also request toasts from the waiter/waitress. Lunch was good and with wide range of choices (burgerette/pizza/rice/salad/soup). I would particularly recommend the dinner there. It's 3 courses meal and I was particularly impressed with the main course and dessert (I had ox cheek once and it's absolutely tasty; and I highly recommend the local famous toffee pudding and ice cream). The environment in the restaurant was quiet and cosy, and staff was helpful. There were some mistakes made but I think it's reasonable. I highly recommend the place to the others.

Had dinner and breakfast here on two nights. The fish for dinner was very good and served with some interesting sides without being outlandish. Hot and cold breakfast buffet excellent.

Our food was excellent quality and so fresh and tasty. Very attentive staff too, nothing is too much trouble.

As part of our wedding plans we had a three course meal to decide the food. All courses were excellent and the service impeccable.

It feels like you are sitting in a 30's era restaurant, without the old mouldy smell....Food is varied and served hot and was consistently very good at lunch and dinner. Breakfast is also served here and it was very good. The staff is of course eastern European like most today and attentive and well spoken and trained.The pricing was included in our conference but the menu pricing seemed realistic in todays England. Worth an eat even if not staying at the hotel.

The food is incredible, you must order the fish and chips, they're incredible. There ' twice cooked chips' are amazing! Also sample a white chocolate chocolatini from the bar area, they're delish!

This hotel resurant is very nice the service is excellent and the food we had was just fab..we chattered to the receptionist on our way out and she was just lovely and very friendly I would like to stay here on our next weekend break.

Please, please don't waste your hard earned money on this terrible hotel; my Husband and I stopped for a bite to eat and were honestly shocked at the dreadful 'meal' we were served. My Husband's roast beef sandwich was slathered in thick margerine and filled with cheap, supermarket packet roast beef which was completely inedible. This was plated up alongside four pringles (don't push the boat out will you) and a withered salad, all for £4.95. It takes quite a lot to offend me but I couldn't get over this disgusting rip off, get a grip Winderemere Hotel.

A great place to dine in a lovely room and very cosy atmosphere. The staff were friendly and helpful and the food tasted divine.

At first glance the menu seems expensive but the food was delicious, the service professional and friendly, and the atmosphere pleasant. Worth it.

This was a visit which was included within the Superbreak deal the staff were excellent the restaurant was busy alas the production of the food was slow but when it came it was of a good quality I would visit again but outside of the popular hours

Came for a romantic meal and the place was beautiful. Starters and wine were excellent and the restaurant was popular, but not noisy as there was ample space between tables. Main courses were a disappointment. Fish and chips tasted of oil and could have been cooked at a higher temperature. Falafel burger was unoriginal and hard to finish as the taste was only chickpea and garlic, rather than cumin and onion too. It was all presented well but the chef could have tried harder. May return and hopefully they will have changed the type of potato they use and turned the heat up on their fryers.

Locally sourced ingredients is always a good sign. We stayed at this hotel as part of a group, and we ate at the restaurant. Although this isn't what I'd call a first class establishment, the dinner here was a shining example of when a good plan comes together.We're guessing this was either the table d'hote menu or the standard group menu. No matter, the choices are mouth-watering and when the dishes arrived, they didn't disappoint. We don't think anybody had any complaints about any of the choices.This is probably not a place you'd book if you weren't vacationing in the area, but it's well worth the trip if you're nearby. Very relaxing and impressive meal.

While the menu isn't the most original we've seen, the food was deliciously tasty and prepared well. We had chosen the dining option while staying at the hotel.We both had fillet steak for mains - nicest I'd had for a good while. Desserts were also lovely - yummy crème brulee.Perhaps the steaks were slightly more 'well done' than expected but that's being picky. Restaurant draughty - we asked to switch tables and the staff accommodated straight away. Excellent service.

Excellent menu choices and a good wine list with the wines sensibly grouped by price, although there is a 'Super' wine towards the end, for those who want to splash out.

Part of the traditional but stylish Low Wood Bay hotel. Very grand in an "Arts and Crafts" room. Good seating, quick service and delicious,locally sourced dishes. Prices similar to many nearby restaurants of lesser calibre so good value

Hotel well placed for bus/train station. Meals very good, not big portions but sufficient. Well cooked.

What can I say the food was fantastic there was so much choice on the menu. The staff were friendly and very polite.

We had dinner here as part of a large scale function and I have to say I was impressed.We had starters of figs, parma ham and melon which was very tasty, a beef main (which I was dubious about as I can't stand dull, roast dinner kind of food) which was absolutely DELICIOUS. The beef was a cut I don't know, it looked like a fillet steak but had been slow cooked and was very tender and full of a lovely garlicky, herby flavour, the vegetables were all presented really prettily and still had some crunch, the potatoes were lovely and golden and the gravy (which I usually hate) was so tasty. Dessert was equally good.The service for a large scale function was exceptional - our table all got our meals quickly, the food was hot, and the serving staff were very attentive and remembered we had a vegetarian on our table (her cheesey, veggie pastry main course looked good too!).I'll definitely go back for a meal with just hubby to enjoy it all to ourselves.

I live and work in the area, and had made several visits to the Low Wood over the years with no complaints. After today I wont be going back. Took mum and my daughter today for a special Easter treat - afternoon tea overlooking the lake. Scones,cake, sandwiches and tea, £25 for 2, and that was the problem and an insurmountable problem at that. The waiter told me afternoon tea only came in multiples of 2, so i could only order for 2,4,6 etc. Asked if they could just add an extra portion to a 2 person serving and i would happily pay the difference got an immediate negative response. Pleading eventually got him to consult the 'Chef'but after returning 2 minutes later the answer was the same but i could order for 4 and eat the diffrence. At this point i decided it wasnt worth it, Windermere is full of nice hotels who would gladly sort my request on what was a quiet good friday, so we left. I've had better service in Kendal's McDonalds and an e-mail is on its way to the management

We stayed at the Low Wood Hotel where this restaurant is situated.The restaurant food and service were excellent.The lake was in view from certain parts of the restaurant.
