A lovely surprise. The breakfast was hearty and good quality , including the tasty sausage. For London, fairly priced. A pleasing start to the day! The whole time I was seated, there were consistently differing groups of people, who appeared more local than tourist, which I always feel is a good indication. The building is light with lots of windows which is pleasant, though perhaps a bit warm if you get in the sun. It had a relaxed, cafe feel. The very handsome grey-bearded manager was welcoming, friendly and efficient . The other staff seemed similar. It's good to see some older staff employed also, though the older lady's poor English made her present abrupt and unwelcoming, so for her sake it would be good for the cafe to support her English learning. I was very pleased with my meal and visit and will definitely be returning. If youre Exmouth market way, I'd recommend !

Booked a dinner with my wife and 11 year old son at the bar. The bar was busy (Halloween revellers) and the team kindly relocated us to have dinner on the 2nd floor. The service, food, and wine were incredible. Smiths has always been a favourite of mine and it never disappoints. A big shout out to the Greek sommelier who was charming, friendly, and incredibly knowledgeable. Had a lovely bottle of wine and she gave me some tips for some new world wines to buy in the future. Great night

It was the 4th time I've visited the restaurant on 5 December - I've been a cheerleader since I first went and couldn't wait to return for the festive menu. It started well, we were able to move our table when we got to the restaurant which was appreciated, but quite a disappointing/confusing experience: - The steak as part of the festive menu, is actually 1 smallish portion to share. I get it's a tasting menu, but, meh - No potato/carb or sauce to go with the main - half a steak portion and soggy parsnips/sprouts. - Mince pie tart was dry with clotted cream like it had been tossed next to it. - There was an optional cheese course that we would have both had - but we were given the bill without prompt straight after the dessert, whilst we still had half a bottle of wine left. The card machine brought over and asked if we'd like to split when we were nowhere near finished and hadn't requested the bill. Felt like we'd outstayed our welcome when the restaurant was still packed with everyone tucking into their mains. If it was early and they needed the table, maybe you understand (if you were being really kind) - or if we were the last in and everyone wanted to go home. It was neither. On the other occasions I'd visited I left buzzing with how nice it was, but on this occasion left annoyed.

Always such a pleasure going to the Marian Anderson. Food is great, staff are friendly and drinks are cold what more could you ask for.

Visité con 4 amigos. Katie y su equipo fueron muy amables y serviciales. Nos lo pasamos muy bien, la comida era decente y mucha bebida! ! Compré el trato en Groupon y valió cada centavo.

We met with friends because of the restaurant's proximity to Farringdon. We started off seated outside but as it got colder and then started raining we moved indoors The restaurant has a great atmosphere and it was a shame that on a Friday evening there were so few diners Our server was really good, cheerful and chatty We had started with glasses of house white - it was so good we asked to see what it was - Grillo from Sicily We then moved onto Chianti with the meal The menu is short and interesting and we really struggled to choose. We had sourdough and buter to nibble on whilst choosing Two had the ham hock terrine with toast which was chunky and tasty with a pear picallili I had the barbequed mackeral which came with asparagus and little sudges of mayo and roe - nice For mains we had bavette steak with fries, the flat iron Holstein chicken that came with a small side salad and a mushroom risotto Sides of fries were excellent and a green salad was very fresh and crisp with a great dressing We finished with a rhubarb brulee and a banoffi shortbread with ice cream We were all very please with teh food, teh wine, the ambience and teh service An excellent find
