Staff are lovely whenever I go in and the food is excellent. Garden is boiling in the sun and full of kids. A plus or a minus depending on your view!

Lovely traditional pub dining and atmosphere. Original interior with lots of history between the walls that staff can tell you about. Plenty of seating space in the historic square.

The prompt and professional service in the upstairs room and quality of the food, it was quite noisy, but not sure how you can improve that

Really enjoyed the pub. Have visited before just for drinks but this was the first time we had lunch. There were 17 of us and we were in the upstairs dining room. Food was good but I wouldn’t say it was fantastic. Staff could be a bit more cheerful. While most of the group ordered dessert on the app there was no way I could request the Brownie without the caramel sauce so when I asked the member of staff if i could make my order through I was told I would have to wait at least 15 minutes so I didn’t bother.

Disappointing experience. I went there on a Sunday evening and when I asked to try one of the guest draughts the bartender just poured me the pint. But the time I'd noticed, it was half poured, when I pointed it out to her she didn't offer to give me a try instead so I reluctantly paid for it anyway. However it turned out that the pub closed 15 minutes after I ordered and no one told me this. To me this it's basic pub etiquette not too expect a customer to drink a pint in a quarter of an hour so this was a fairly disappointing experience. There are better places to go for a beer in the area. Avoid this chain pub (part of Mitchell and Butler's group) and choose an independent pub where service is better and you are welcomed and valued.

A real gem in the area with friendly staff and lots of food and drink options. Spacious sitting and standing space, an outdoor beer garden and cozy listed interior. Great for large gatherings and special occasions.

We had such a great time at The Crown at our 2022 Christmas party we went back again this year - and weren't disappointed! Delicious food, friendly service, reasonable prices and a lovely, cheerful, comfortable pub. Thoroughly recommend.

We had our annual friends Christmas party in the Apollo Room and the day couldn’t have been more perfect. The staff were great, particular shout out to Simon who was a legend and ran the bar for us. Everyone enjoyed the food and we were impressed that it all came out hot - not easy with 36 people to serve! We had such a great day at The Crown Tavern and would highly recommend booking here if you are planning an event. Thanks to the team, we hope you have a great Christmas and New Year!

We went there after walking for hours in the cold rain, and fortunately there was a free table in the evening. The bar staff was friendly and welcoming. The place was dimmed and had Christmas lights on, the heating was very welcomed. The place is cosy and the chairs are comfy. We tried to order a few things but they didn't have at least 2 items on the menu so we just all went with fish & chips with some cider. We gobbled it up pretty fast and sat there all satisfied. A lady came to take our plates later, very friendly and animated. Loved the vibes over all. Would recommend and would return :)

Not impressed. Sat at table drinking for three hours then told table is reserved from in ten minutes time. Asked to leave. Been coming here for years to meet on a Saturday every couple of months. Current staff couldn't care. Moving to a Tavern quite close.

The actual pub and atmosphere is nice, but the food is crazily overpriced (even for central London) and the service was pretty poor. Our food came 10-15 mins apart, and sauces and cutlery were forgotten completely.

We hired the Apollo Room for a work function. Great communication leading up to the event and the evening itself ran super smoothly. Amazing food and service! We will definitely return.

It was all really great - we were a group of 7 with two young kids and you made sure that we had everything we needed and didn’t make us feel like a burden (kids are loud and messy!). Both the food and the service were really good.

The family met some friends for lunch here and we were very happy to have done so. Everyone loved their dishes, lovely sausage and mash, a virtuous and tasty salmon salad, a several perfect fish & chips! The vibe was a good one, food came to the table quickly but then we were left to enjoy and socialize with our friends. No rush anywhere. Glad we went to the Crown Tavern and 10/10 would repeat.

Great atmosphere, everyone seems to be having a great time. Had a couple pints, one of which was Guinness (as expected it was perfect) as well as a pint of purity ipa (hazy I believe) which was wonderful. Had the chicken burger which was absolutely lovely. Thanks to the team!

Amazing Sunday roast. Had the nut roast and it was amazing -parsnips and carrots were cooked to perfection - not too hard not too soft - lovely fresh greens and the Yorkshire pudding was huge - perfect - thanks to the girl who served us - short blonde hair - very efficient - thanks defo returned

This is a lovely little pub, fantastic atmosphere with a great selection of drinks and delicious food. I can highly recommend the baked camembert and pie! All the staff were friendly and attentive. A special thanks to Simon, who was particularly great when helping us decide which gins to try! Nice outside area to relax in and dog friendly, which is always a good thing in my book. We will definitely be back again.

My work team went to the Crown Tavern during Clerkenwell Design Week (Thursday 25.5.23), it was packed but they had loads of people serving behind the bar so we always got served quickly, even thought the bar was really busy. The staff were lovely, but special shout out to the woman in a checked shirt with her hair in two buns. I ordered a gin and tonic and another elderflower tonic. She asked if the elderflower tonic was a spare to go with the gin or if I needed another glass. I said the elderflower one was a separate drink for a friend who was pregnant.... so the women behind the bar went round the corner and came back with a lovely glass full of nice fruits to make the tonic special for my pregnant friend! So lovely, a little extra touch but my friend (the only one not drinking while we all enjoyed a summer celebration!) loved it. Thank you!

Great traditional pub with a good selection of craft beers. The food is excellent & delivered to your table reasonably quickly. I highly recommend the fish & chips, it was very tasty!! They also offer a small selection of desserts too. If you are in the Clerkenwell area, pop in as the atmosphere is chilled & the staff are friendly & attentive 👍🏻😊

Gorgeous pub on the corner of Clerkenwell Green. Such a beautiful place, with an amazing staff. I can recommend all day long this place!!! Full of life, busy, but not messy. Just what you want after finish a long week. The staff?? Unbelievable friendly, the pub was packed, but they didn't show the stress and every single one of them was smiling and have fun! And the food?? We had the Bar snacks and was so delicious... 10/10 foor everything!!!!

We were passing through and were in desperate need of sustenance (I needed a beer, the family needed food). We found this place through sheer luck and are happy we did so. The interior is warm and cosy, with lots of nice places to sit. The food was top end pub grub - I had a delicious, juicy cheeseburger that had an awesome burger sauce and perfectly crips fries, the wife devoured a chicken, ham and leek pie with a criminally creamy mash and for the little one (who doesn't eat much!) we ordered a side of mac and cheese, which she yummed up (along with a healthy serving of everything mummy and daddy were eating!). It all came in good time too. Drinks wise - a huge selection of craft beer on tap (I had a few and have already forgotten what they were... but they were all delicious!), the wife helped herself to an Aperol Spritz too. The service was cracking, everyone was very welcoming and we were actually served by the manager (Simon, I think his name was), who checked up on us and made sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed... he even helped us decide what to do with the rest of our day in London! So I highly recommend! For food or beer, you'll not be disappointed!

Booked a table for 3 for a roast. Only found out when ordering that no roast chicken was available because a big order was taken and all the chicken was gone ( it was only 2pm). Other choices were a nut roast and beef. We chose to not stay and went to another pub. My expectations are not high with most things, but was very surprised at this well established ale house. Maybe check before you go what’s available as most weekends there’s no traditional ale either.

The Crown Tavern does everything a pub should do, really well. The service is very friendly and professional, the food is wonderful and the pub is beautiful. I really think it shows how a pub should be part of the Clerkenwell community as well. Really well run pub and special shout out to Landlord Simon and Jena Joyce - really lovely people. Siendo lugareños, este pub está a la vuelta de la esquina, visitando regularmente. Fui el domingo para una celebración de cumpleaños.Excelente, amable y atento servicio durante toda la tarde.La mayoría de nosotros comimos el asado del domingo, felicitaciones al chef además de: la larga espera por dos asados de nueces: ¡brócoli casi crudo y PATATAS ASADAS CONGELADAS! ! ! que fueron horribles y la mayoría de nosotros nos fuimos.¿Seguramente no es demasiado difícil proporcionar patatas asadas "adecuadas"? ? ? ?Hubiera hecho la comida perfecta.

Fui a Crown Tavern con amigos del extranjero. Un ambiente tan encantador, disfruté de cada minuto. Muchísimas gracias a Katrina, fue increíble. He estado aquí algunas veces recientemente, vergonzosamente mi negocio ha estado en Clerkenwell durante cinco años y siempre había pasado caminando por The Crown para llegar a otros pubs. Solo el año pasado y ahora este año nuevamente comencé a visitar más. This in one of my favourite pubs in London, steeped in history and off the beaten path. Has the largest outdoor area for pubs in the area and dealing with a response to the pandemic very professionally.

Had already been here last weekend with family for drinks and food. We were impressed with all the safety measures in place. Tables outside spaced apart and cleaned between customers. One way system in place inside. Toilets clean too. Came here today for Sunday Roast, which we had booked, as they can get busy. We both had the Vegetarian Nut Roast. It was delicious. Came served with roast carrots, parsnips , and vegetables and a Yorkshire pudding. Everything was cooked beautifully. We also ordered a side dish of cauliflower cheese to share which was plenty. Had a nice bottle of wine with our meal and a lager after. Very nice food, relaxed atmosphere. Will definitely be coming here again.

Visited the Crown Tavern in Farringdon last week and had a great time, with all staff working hard to explain and keep social distancing. We were served by a very chatty and lovely bar staff called Catrina. Was very helpful, quick service and gave us all a very positive experience. Will definitely be back soon!

A great out of the way pub. Great staff, very friendly and efficient especially considering the Covid-19 restrictions. A pub steeped in history by the look of it, a lovely room at the back where Stalin and Lenin once met allegedly. The lady serving was great, called Cristina .Even knew what drink I wanted before I'd asked. Was just there for drinks but the menu looked inviting. Will definitely recommend and certainly will return

Great weekend place for brunch or otherwise. Rainy or sunny day it is super ideal. Large area with indoors and outdoors. Families and others seem welcomed. Even has Thursday pub quiz.

Came here for Sunday lunch. Hubby and I both had the beef roast dinner (£16.50 each). There was plenty of food, as it came with roast potatoes, peas, leaks, sweet red cabbage and a Yorkshire pudding. My only wish is that that food had been hotter (it was just warm) and that the peas had been softer (they were super hard). Other than that all good, and the staff (in particular the guy that was serving us) were absolutely lovely and made you feel right at home.

Fuimos a este lugar hoy (20 de diciembre) para tomar unas copas después del trabajo. Inicialmente fue divertido, buen ambiente, pero hacia el final cuando pedimos las últimas bebidas (11 pm) nos dijeron que teníamos que terminar de beber y salir en 10 minutos. Le pregunté al personal por qué nos vendieron bebidas cuando tenemos que irnos de inmediato, así que nos dieron 15 minutos.Justo después de eso, el tipo de seguridad estaba tratando de echarnos. Le dijimos que nos diera un minuto para terminar, ¡pero él insistía en que teníamos que salir ahora y, de hecho, se puso realmente agresivo hasta el punto de que estaba gritando, tirando y pateando a mi colega! ! ¡Esto estaba realmente fuera de servicio ya que nunca antes había visto semejante comportamiento en ningún bar / pub! ! I have been to this pub on multiple occasions. I visited today. It is located in a good place and hasn’t changed it’s name like a lot of pubs have by the new owners. It’s hasn’t been changed inside either, so it’s worth a visit to see what a traditional english pub looks like. This review is about the drinks they serve. I’m a traditional English ale drinker and this pub does provide some ales. Unfortunately my experience is that sometimes it’s all or nothing. The choice can be all three or only one. The routine ales available are,Timothy Taylor, Doombar or London pride. I have had to ask to have another one poured on more than one occasion because it is cloudy and undrinkable , only to be told there is no more available. If i was a craft beer drinker my choices would be overwhelming, but I’m not. I just wish they would have an ale on tap at all times like they do with craft beer choices. This review isn’t meant to put you off visiting this nice pub. It’s my opinion and mine only. Just to add, i have eaten here and i have not been disappointed.

Used to go here a lot when worked around the corner, alway liked its atmosphere and good beers. Met some friends there last night for drinks and could not believe the poor bar staff. the ladies who served us were just rude, miserable and I don't understand why they work there, they have ruined what was a fantastic London pub. I appreciate people have off days, but not all of them together, please don't go there, they make you feel very unwelcome, we had to laugh about it in the ned it was so bad.

We had some work leaving drinks at the Crown a couple of weeks ago and the staff were ace. They cornered off an area downstairs and made sure that only our party was in the area. I forgot to pay the bill (sorry!) and they were great about it when I called the next day and kept my receipt so I could pick up the following Monday.Special shout out to Sam (manager on the night) and Jenna behind the bar who took care of us!

We met here for a reunion, 18 friends and my friend had booked the Clock room with a buffet.Everything was lovely -appetising ,tasty and generous buffet, good beer and wine , the room laid out with plates cutlery and crackers, friendly relaxed and helpful service, we will book it again!

After having drinks here all evening with friends and spending a lot of money in this establishment, my friend was served a drink which didn’t taste right. I politely complained and apologised for bothering the staff as they were trying to close the bar but asked for a new drink for my friend as it was not right.

Solo el mismo tipo de área y de hecho esperaba pagar más en Chancery. Vale la pena ir de compras ya que hay muchos pubs en los alrededores. Encuentro estos precios una estafa realmente.

Disfrutamos de nuestro almuerzo, nos sentamos afuera, de salchichas y puré (puede ser demasiado jus!), Nachos y papas fritas adecuadas. La comida ha sido variable en años anteriores, pero este almuerzo nos pareció bueno, así que sin duda volveremos.
