I had the best time I went with my friends this Tuesday. The staff were so friendly and quick with the getting the drinks. They also have amazing recommendations on the food, it was delicious. We also had great fun at the quiz, gutted we didn’t win. Maybe next time as we’re already planning our next trip for quiz night!!

Mi hijo reservó un área del pub para su cumpleaños. Inicialmente todo fue bien y un caballero que tomé para ser el gerente fue muy amable y servicial. Movimos dos mesas pequeñas para que nuestros invitados pudieran sentarse juntos. Un camarero vino y nos dijo que volviéramos a mover las mesas. Él no dio ninguna explicación y fue muy cortés y grosero. No queriendo molestar a nuestros huéspedes caminé alrededor del bar para preguntar por qué sentía que era necesario ser tan descortés para pagar a los huéspedes. ¡Dijo ‘lo que sea’ y me dio la espalda! Luego lo vi hablando con sus colegas detrás de la barra mirándome y riéndose. El señor que me atendió antes no estaba en el bar, ya que estaba seguro de que su enfoque habría sido mucho más respetuoso. Supongo que debió irse. Un encuentro decepcionante para lo que había sido un día maravilloso en general. Como nota positiva, Island Queen es una joya de un pub con un gran ambiente y una gran selección de cervezas.

Cosy spot right near the canal in Angel. Great atmosphere and the staff are very friendly. Nice pub!

First off the staff were nice and understanding. However food took over 1 and a half hours to come out. Some plates were cold so we had to send them back and then they were simply microwaved so nothing being adding to the food quality, more taken away. Items were forgotten often e.g. gravy. Vegan roast came with a Yorkshire, which wasn’t vegan. Also you 100% need much more gravy for the nut roast as although it’s not dry it certainly isn’t moist enough to warrant the dribble initially provided. Not really offered much of an apology by the team. Decor of the pub is beaut and good lovely environment.

I recently celebrated with 15 guests at this pub and had an absolutely fantastic time! The space is impressively spacious, making it perfect for larger gatherings, and the staff were nothing short of amazing - attentive, friendly, and genuinely welcoming. While the food was enjoyable and satisfying, it didn’t quite reach exceptional standards. However, the pub more than makes up for it with its incredible selection of beers and the lively atmosphere created by the live music. Together, these elements made the evening so enjoyable that the food became a secondary consideration. This place is a gem for anyone looking for a vibrant, feel-good experience. I’m already looking forward to my next visit! @emreonar

After an evening in Soho, my wife and I intended visiting an old haunt, The Narrow Boat which is just around the corner. Arriving at 9.45, however, we were told that last orders had already been called. At quarter to ten in Central London? Directed to the Island Queen instead, we found it to be completely lacking in atmosphere. Alright, it was a Thursday evening just after new year but there can't have been more than 10 people in the place. I assume a busier night was expected because there were three bar staff who seemed to spend most of the time we were there immersed in their phones. Why the lack of business? Possibly a new year hang over. Maybe the local clientele were all enjoying the last of the holidays at their weekend retreats or skiing? Certainly the pub's prices suggest well off customers. In the middle of Soho, a pint and bottle of beer cost £12 earlier that evening. The same two drinks here cost £13.30.

EXCEPTIONAL! We came here for our Christmas Day meal as a family and had an amazing time. Staff are incredible - very attentive and friendly and really made us feel welcome. The food was delicious, one of the best Christmas meals I’ve ever had!

It was a group of us and we all had different dishes. Shared a couple of bottles of wine. Everybody was happy with their food!

The food and service was brilliant can't fault it. The only thing that could have been better is were seated on the side of the partition with only 1 dining table by the gents toilet so there wasn't much atmosphere.

Para el personal que tiene que trabajar en Navidad, no esperábamos mucho, pero el equipo que tiene allí y la calidad del servicio, esperamos que sean reconocidos por ello. Especialmente para nosotros, nos atendió el tipo con vasos y rastas, él estaba cuidando de tantas mesas, como estaba bastante ocupado, pero lo hizo parecer sin esfuerzo, y era tan encantador en todo, feliz y gran servicio en todo, la energía nunca bajó. Así que espero que sea reconocido, como dijo la abuela "¡qué hombre tan encantador es! " Todo el equipo fue genial, pero como él cuidó de nosotros, dejando esta reseña con la esperanza de que obtenga algún reconocimiento como nos hizo el día!

Richard el gerente es excelente y también su personal en el bar. Richard hace este pub con su personalidad encantadora y su gran personal que sirve en el bar. Si tienes a la gente adecuada en el pub funciona como magia.

I have booked the Gin Lounge for a work Christmas party, and I was pleasantly surprised by how gorgeous the establishment was and how helpful the staff were. Truly a hidden gem in Angel; friendly staff, delicious food and very good vibes. Shout out to Ieva for being a big help in making sure our night went smoothly.

We loved the Sunday roast with all the trimmings, everything was perfect. It is a great idea to bring a small jug with extra gravy, you can never have too much gravy! The roast beef was delicious, the staff were lovely, and I was grateful you could give us a downstairs table as I asked for. Thanks for a lovely relaxed Sunday.

From beginning to end, it was a shambles. Making the booking was difficult - I waited a week after requesting the booking for Christmas set menu, but no one responded to confirm my booking. Once chased up, I was then sent a deposit request for £100 when it should have been £20. The set menu was pre-ordered, though upon our arrival it seemed as though they had no idea we were even there for food. After an hour I queried the status of our meal and after some fumbling about they then confirmed it would be with us asap. It seemed as though the staff offered crackers to other tables with Xmas meal bookings; this wasn't the case for us. The member of staff serving us made awkward and inappropriate jokes which made us feel uncomfortable (not the best person to be waiting tables - probably best to just stay behind the bar?). The food was alright, nothing special. Items such as the camembert and profiteroles weren't as nice as they sounded on the menu. The crumble dessert that came out was raw with the lumpiest custard, but was rectified when flagged. We then proceeded to pay and found that the bill was too high. When checking the itemised bill we found that there was an extra meal on there we hadn't ordered (apparently a staff member's meal). When flagging this was incorrect, they lost our order completely and had to run through everything again. We couldn't wait to leave. Huge shame as it's a very nice looking pub, but the staff made us feel like we were in a scene from Fawlty Towers.

Beautiful old pub with wonderful original features. A warm welcome was offered as was a really good selection of wines, beers etc. We really enjoyed our meal, I had the pork belly, which was delicious. We look forward to our next visit.

Never eaten here so review is based on drinks only. It's a great building with big plate glass windows at the front. Staff are fantastic and set us a fun quiz about how quickly a human could drink an Olympic sized pool of water without damaging vital organs. Random? Yes. Fun, also Yes. Great local bar well worth a visit.

Beautiful back street pub with a distinctly high ceiling! Is good for a lovely drink on certain evenings but personally love it for a quiet and chilled drink and food during the weekday afternoons.

I don’t even remember how I managed to get here and went home from here after the 11-hour overnight flight from San Francisco to London. It was nice to catch up with some friends here, though. I was starving after the long flight, so I ordered a steak, and we sat on the second floor, which was quiet and private, just for our group of 8 people. The live music was great—recommended

Lovely pub, shame about the service. Roast dinner was lukewarm, there was no coffee or sticky toffee pudding available. No ‘is everything ok?’ or apology when the lukewarm apple crumble (with lumpy custard) arrived an hour after ordering. Service charge left on the bill.

Popped in for some food and a drink. It’s a nice pub but the food was not great, only simple options, some were unavailable, and they were small portions for the price - it doesn’t compare to what you’d expect. The music was muffled to the point of being distracting, and I agree with the comments about this being the most expensive pint in the area.

Highly overpriced food for a mediocre pub

The Pub itself is lovely decorated. Although the saffron aioli has no saffron in it, the starters we had were good. Unfortunately I received the worst beer pour in my life. Only half of the 440ml can beer successfully made it into my glass. The waiter even had accidental eye contact with me while he poured the foam into the sink, but insisted the beer „was fine“.

Nice interior, however the drinks are probably the most expensive of any pub in the area. Went for the roast and it too was expensive and wasn’t that good. Staff were quite rude and unhelpful when it came to allergies.

they only bloody ran out of roast before 2:30. No pies, no steak, no bangers and mash. Who’s running this joint. Avoid if hungry.

Adore you Island Queen. Been a staple in my pub trips for the last 4 years and never disappoints at all. Prices are slightly ridiculous now but a central Angel quirky pub is worth paying for.

Hi Island Queen, I had my 60th birthday party in your Gin Lounge upstairs from 1-6pm, 11th August. There were about 60 people that attended throughout the afternoon. The room was lovely, as was the food. Everyone had a good time. A few things could have been better. You had a staff member assigned to look after us but she did not introduce herself to me, so I didn't know who I had to be looking for if things needed doing. We kept running out of glasses and when we asked for more, we were told that was all there were. More could have been had if used ones were cleared and washed as they were clearly accumulating. Plates were also accumulating also from the buffet and not cleared away. We also had to plead for more ice for drinks as if it was something unreasonable to ask for. Generally, the feeling was that everything was provided up front and then we were just left to fend for ourselves. Given the large amount spent on hospitality, more attention could have been paid to us during the event itself. That the party went off well was partly due to a guest of mine who worked in hospitality and took it upon himself to direct your staff what needed to be done. This allowed me to enjoy my party. The drinks packages were out of date and did not provide an accurate list of what you provided. Luckily the substitutes were fine. In summary, a manager to liaise closely with through the event to make sure the hospitality was seamless would have been good. Lawrence

My favourite pub! Celebrated my hen party in the upstairs private room and it was the perfect size and feel - custom playlist, cool decoration, delicious food. Highly recommend TIQ.

Great place for a drink, nice atmosphere and friendly. Cannot advise eating there however. I regularly go to pubs in London and am no stranger to the completely average £15 burger, but this was poor even by those standards. The burger was small and looked like a supermarket burger had just been slapped in a microwave-defrosted bun. My friend had the fish and chips which looked and tasted like an oven-cooked Iceland special (the shop, not the country). Go for the beer but eat somewhere else!

We recently hired the gin lounge for my sister's hen do. Just wanted to say how amazing the staff were! They helped us with decorations, dealt with our annoying requests, let us leave some bits there when we moved on, made giant rounds of baby Guinness and were just generally very accommodating. Thanks for having us!
