Gorgeous pub and great service. Food was a bit disappointing, roast potatoes were more like boiled and all gravy and sauces were pretty minimal, food generally not that hot. Was a shame really.

Came to this pub for the first time last week and I love it! Beautifully decorated, food was delicious, great atmosphere and the staff were wonderful.

Read the wine list folks. Cost of a pint and a glass of wine varies between £15-£20 a round. Hard boiled customers won't share a spare seat at the end of a table they're not using.

Staff were friendly and helpful. Food was awful. There was only half the menu available in the first place, this isn’t the first time this has happened. My veggie burger came out cold and still frozen in the middle.

Five stars for the Private Room upstairs. The team were accommodating for us to rearrange the tables into this long table for 25 people sit down. We had the best time. Incredible vibes for a birthday dinner! Thank you so much!

Staff were nice enough but the food was awful! Possibly the worst vegetarian nut roast we've ever had. Soggy nut roast, the " roast potatoes" were scraps of damp , boiled potatoes. The carrots and parsnips were gross- hard and tasteless! They don't offer any children's menu, which was disappointing. As the main was so unappetising , we didn't bother with the desserts! Won't bother going back to eat. Overpriced too!

Staff were great. But the food was awful! Overpriced and extremely poor quality! Possibly the worst nut roast I've ever had in my life - soggy and the vegetables were gross ! " Roast" potatoes were damp, white scraps of soggy boiled potatoes! Won't be going back!

Beautiful old pub next to the Canal had an amazing sausage and mash and pint of tribute was spot on Conor was a great host!

I was very disappointed - I had made the booking, hoping that we would be able to have food before going on to the next part of my birthday celebration, but the kitchen was closed. We had no idea and so it put our plans in flux. It would have been good if an email could have advised that this was going to happen so we could have changed our plans in advance.

I miss the marionettes but still managed to have a good time

The staff were so lovely and friendly and made us feel very welcome! Thank you to the barman for helping me to remember on which order to take the salt and lemon when ordering a tequila - I’d completely forgotten!

Cozy little nook in the heart of London

We recently moved to the area and came here for the first time last night. There were a lot of tables booked for diners, but we managed to find one that wasn’t. About 3/4 through a bottle of red we were asked to move tables, with no explanation. We did as we were told, but we were moved to a table that was booked and the people who booked it were angry. So they moved us again, but there was nowhere to sit, we had to share a table with another couple. The staff were very rude, and handled the whole situation badly. Such a shame as it’s a beautiful pub. Luckily there are lots of other lovely pubs in the area, we won’t be going back!

Fantastic in every way - we had the private room upstairs for our company team drinks and it was one of the best venues we've been too. Service from the whole team was great. Connor was brilliant at helping me with the organisation and food ordering. Food we ordered (buffet) was gorgeous and no problem when we asked to order additional items. And we love the pub it self - so much history and beautiful decor.

Staff were exceptional, the service recieved was fabulous and consistent throighout the afternoon. Only negative was that the food was very bland and average. So whilst I will happily return yo the pub, it would be for drinks only.

Service was friendly but the fish and chips we had looked like it came from a famous frozen food supermarket, totally tasteless, so we didn’t bother to order dessert. Also, it was pub quiz night, which we didn’t know about, and we would’ve joined in but we had to be up early the next day for work so couldn’t stay till it finished. This is probably a good pub for meeting friends for a few drinks or a pub quiz, but don’t bother about the food as it was also far too expensive for the quality.

The Island Queen had availability for us to book last minute on a Sunday, only booking a couple hours ahead. Things that weren't so good were they had run out of some sides for the roast and very small portion of stuffing and one mini sausage only on the chicken roast, it wasn't overly flavoursome and we asked for some more gravy which we were told was absolutely fine but it didn't arrive.

We had lunch today the food was delicious staff was so kind , friendly his name is Conoa and he was very welcoming and very keen on making sure our food was great.

This wonderful pub is nestled in the conservation area in Angel, Islington. It has just re-opened after an extensive refurbishment and it looks fabulous. Lee who manages the pub is doing such a great job. Conor who served us today is a lovely person and the drinks and food are really good. I had a roast beef dinner and it was really lovely. Last week a trier the apricot & vanilla creme brulee which was quite frankly the best I have ever had. Please do not take this off the menu, it is outstanding. Such a super place to be, especially on a lovely Sunday early afternoon. The ambience is really great and chilled. They also do ales at the moment they have Tribute and London Pride. They also have a lovely Californian Pinor Noir. Wonderful.

Lovely pub in the conservation area of Angel, Islington and just opened after a major refurbishment. They have done a fabulous job and the food is really good. Last Sunday when we came here after the reopening I tried the Apricot & Vanilla Creme Brulee which was outstanding. Today we popped in and being a Sunday I tried the roast beef. It was 21 day aged sirloin and served with thyme roasted potatoes, Yorkshire pudding,buttered Savoy cabbage,leeks, peas & roaated root vegetables. The beef was cooked in a red wine jus. A lovely meal. The staff are reqlly good and very nice people. Lee is doing a terrific job managing this pub. The ales they do are doing at the moment are London Pride and Tribute. I like red wine and they do a lovely Pinor Noir from USA. This pub has a lovely vibe and is very relaxed in the early afternoon.

Went to the relaunch of this beautiful pub and was blown away by this pretty place. Lovely owners and beautiful drinks in relaxed surroundings. Will definitely return!

Positives - Interior. Challenges: Poorest service from Bar staff - in particular - the female staff. Everything seemed a hassle & said we could go to the shop for foil and said they did not have take away boxes. Chef very helpful & gave us take away boxes as we don't like to waste food. Bar staff served half a bottle of wine when we paid for full bottle, and sides arrived with our roast 10 minutes later. Roast chicken was dry and was flavourless. Advice: Hire people who have a passion for people and enjoy service. The attitude of bar staff and waitresses makes the place. Their attitude made that lovely space just another hole and lifeless pub, with so many other places to choose over them. This pub is failing in service and food quality, and the responses I have read on google review also reflects on their attitude.

We visited Island Queen for a catch-up with a friend visiting from overseas, who was staying nearby. Booked in advance, and had a great table next to the window. Menu options were good, food portion sizes and flavour equally good, and reasonably priced for London. best part - no discretionary service charge added to the bill. Service was friendly, if a bit slow at times. Overall, we had a great visit and would definitely visit again as an option for dining in a casual and relaxed environment in this area of London.

Would not recommend for a Sunday Roast. The service was lackluster and the food was overall very disappointing. The Scotch Egg was fine and set the tone for what we had been looking forward to all week. Sadly when the mains arrived we were left very disappointed. Roast potatoes were impressively awful, somehow burnt without being crispy. The gravy was very thin (I know some people like that) and lacked any depth or flavor. The Meat was poor quality and overcooked. We ordered a side of Pigs in blankets but they came as tiny bits of burnt bacon in the same bowl as some cheap little sausages, when we commented on how they weren't quite pigs in blankets the staff said he thought the same, but take it off the bill or even apologise. I would expect food like this from Toby Carvery or Wetherspoons. The pubs decor is lovely so it makes the poor food and service even more disappointing.

We had our wedding reception in the Gin Lounge upstairs and it was perfect. Food was really good - although we definitely over-catered! Staff were really lovely and helpful with the set up of the room etc and we plugged our own playlist into the sound system. It was a hot evening, but the room was the perfect temperature. A great time was had by all and I definitely would recommend this beautiful pub as a party venue.

Very nicely decorated pub that sadly you need to avoid like the plague as staff are abusive and extremely intimidating. The female bartender I was just served by needs a lesson on manners before getting a job and be reminded that she does not work in a stripper club that allows her to treat customers the way she does. She is a black woman who shall be remembered and has now had her claim to fame online thanks to her awful ways with patrons. The other bar staff were not great at all either. This place’s management should think again who they hire. This is not the kind of pub that people expect to be run by rude little kids that get a kick at being awful. Or at least train them not to act like they’re in some low life ghetto? Not coming back, ever 👏👏👏👏👏

We booked the upstairs room for a celebration and from the initial contact right until the end of the night the Island Queen team were responsive and helpful. The venue is perfect for a gathering for 40 or so people, and the IQ team can...

What a really lovely little pub in North London. Small but appropriate drinks list. Staff lovely and explain the pub’s history. Unfortunately for us the scaffolding was still up outside and there was a very loud table of international drinkers...

Loved the Sunday roast, my friends had the roast lamb and I went with the chicken roast, very big and fulfilling. Staff were very helpful in their recommendations. Absolutely loved it!

Great location with lovely staff and anazing food. We booked all the upstairs area for a familly celebration and is was more than we expected. Food was great, pleanty of drinks to chose from and the service impeccable. The price was also reasonable for the quality provided. We moved in the bar downstairs after and we enjoyed some good pints and good rhythms :) The manager himself made sure we have a good time so thank you for your hospitality! A place we will keep on visiting and we really recommended it if you need to plan your events.

Encantador pub, desgraciadamente, al personal le faltaba encanto, o, por decirlo de alguna manera, modales. Si bien el pub estaba claramente falto de personal para un domingo por la tarde, hasta faltaba el decoro más básico.El vino estaba apagado, claramente el Chardonnay llevaba abierto uno o dos días.

Went here for a colleague's leaving drinks two weeks ago. The interior of the pub is quite nice, open and airy. We got some bar snacks: Scotch Eggs, French Fries and Pork Scratchings which were all delicious.

Good for a drink, but food is average at best. I have eaten here a couple times and both times the full menu has not been available.
