The Bull in Islington

I recently had the pleasure of visiting The Bull Stretham, and it was a delightful experience from start to finish. The food was good and so were the drinks! What truly made my visit memorable, however, was the exceptional service provided by Bella. Her attentiveness, professionalism, and warm demeanor enhanced the overall experience. Bella's friendly nature and genuine care for her customers truly set a welcoming tone, making me feel like a valued guest throughout my time at The Bull Stretham. I will be returning soon !

Absolutely love stopping in here. The staff are awesome, always super helpful and great chat, the vibes excellent, and the brews and food are top notch (the sides game is unreal - huge shout out to the halloumi fries!). 10/10 would recommend. In other words, this is one sexy pub.

The place was packed, so attentive and even though it was so busy Kristy and Lee were so careful and helpful for a first time in a while. Beers and food were amazing. I highly enjoyed and can't wait to trip there again.. I heard English football was on and they cared so much still. So happy.

Have been coming here a few times now for their pub quiz. I can’t remember the host’s name but he’s 10/10 - the questions are challenging but not so obscure that you feel like you can’t participate. The food has never disappointed either (although as a huge sticky toffee pudding lover it’s the only item on the menu that could be slightly improved 🫣)

Came in on a Monday night for dinner and some beers. Had a great time. Standard pub fare was excellent and the service was with a smile! Cameron and Toby hooked us up! Lots of good local beers on tap. I will definitely be back.

This Pub in Angel -Islington located in a corner on the main street is just an excellent option to have a good time enjoying good beer and delicious food I went in to this pub and I really enjoyed the atmosphere is good and also the staff at the bar is great I was served by Lola which made me feel comfortable all the way through. I raccomand to everyone

We were given a table at the back where the pub smelt very strongly of sewage/toilets. We raised this with the staff and they said it was a common problem which they couldn’t do anything about. It’s been 12 hours since I left and that smell is still with me now.

Super friendly staff and the cider on draft is really affordable. The bull is a great option for anyone looking for good vibes without breaking the bank .

Inefficient arrogant and rude bartenders. I was trying to make sure a customer at the bar finally got served rather than being ignored. Then the other bartender says to me, "You OK man, you look impatient." I should have walked out but decided to have a pint of Peroni and forget about it. Wish I had left because my pint was disgusting. It had that sweet sickly caramel taste that can only come from the bacteria in dirty pipes, £7.25 wasted. Not surprised really as the pub stank of stale beer which confirmed the lack of cleaning. So to recap, rude Inefficient staff, a poorly run cellar and dirty pub. The next time I go to the area, I'll make sure to avoid The Bull. Update: I had a response from the owner who asked me to call and discuss. I don't know who I spoke to but was told "there is no owner to speak to, it's a Mitchell and Butler pub". Then I find out that the General Manager is on holiday till middle of the month and yes, I don't care enough to follow up. What could i say anyway? Bad beer and a smelly pub is culture, poor cleaning standards and bad cellar management. Not an off night. So there you go, no need for a phone call. Cheers !!

I dined at the The Bull recently with friends as a pre-Christmas catch up. They have a couple of vegan options on the menu. I had the nut roast which was lovely. Once the place started to fill up, the atmosphere was very festive. Staff are friendly. There's seating upstairs as well. Overall a good experience and I'd definitely return.

Ella and Heidi took great care of me, being really nice with smile on their faces under huge pressure happy to work here and giving great service. Definitely want to come back!

One of my favourite Islington pubs, has friendly service and is a nice place to relax - big fan of the Sunday lunch as well (vegetarian option also available)!

Service dreadful. BTW £7.35 for a Hells and £6.75 a Guinness?! Avoid!!!!!!!

Nice cozy pub with good service.

Let me tell you something right now… The Bull in Angel is the most hospitable establishment in a 50mile square radius. We first turned up before they opened, but they were the only gaff in the area that had the decency to open their door and speak to us. We then went to flight club up the road and then straight back. The lads in there Ciaran and Hakeem welcomed us with open arms and grinning smiles. Furthermore the chaps were setting up for a Christmas party with some crackers, we asked could our party pull one and they gave us one each. Best pub ever!

I booked a table at The Bull for their quiz night. Booking was no issue. A few days later I recieved an email confirming the booking and stating the quiz starting at 7pm. On the evening of the quiz, I came to the pub a little early at around 6.10 as the booking started at 6.30pm, was told my table was busy with two other people eating, I could not order food for another 40 min or so as the kitchen was closed due to a large party having food. Fine, then at 6.30 when my booking started the two people at the table refused du leave our table but staff eventually managed to move them. Asked again after about 40 min if we could order food, now we had to wait until 7pm and at 7pm we were told we could order food now but it would not be served for another hour, so 8pm. We ordered some drinks and waited for the quiz to start at 7 but nothing happened, then my friend asked the bar staff when the quiz was starting and was told the quiz starts at 8. Why the email confirmation states it starts at 7pm she could not say and was quite rude to my friend not offering her an explanation. Also the pub was freezing as the doors kept being opened and closed itself very slowly, there was also a draft from the windows. Would not recommend.

Very nice pub with a pleasant atmosphere and friendly staff. I had some of the food here in a buffet style at a party, and all the standard pub foods (burgers, chicken, fries, nachos, etc) were of excellent quality.

Who in the right mind informs their customers of a cancellation made days in advance an hour beforew ? We left and wasted so much money and effort into this evening only to be disappointed

Pathetic unprofessional team. They tell us at 6pm that that we can’t come for our 7pm Sunday roast dinner. Pls do not go here. Beyond pathetic.

Popped in for a drink to escape the rain. The Bull is essentially a cosy British pub. They also have a small boardgames selection (Connect4, Mario Monopoly etc.), which was appreciated. Only given it a 4 rather than a 5 because London prices are ridiculous

We came to the bull on Friday afternoon with a dog. Even before I opened my mouth, Jasmine (found out her name later) told us it’s absolutely fine to bring our beagle in. And that was just the beginning of a beautiful afternoon: I am gluten and diary intolerant and Jasmine and her 2 chefs could not have been more accommodating to meet my needs. The food was amazing, our beagle Freya had her own bowl of water and everyone was so friendly, that I felt instantly at home. Definitely will come back many more times.

Not a bad bar in a busy part of Islington, tables outside, a DJ and lots of room inside. I had a bloody Mary which was awful, too much Tabasco and no celery, but a good atmosphere and others drinks were good

Well, well, well....After walking along Essex Rd looking for some places to eat (like a pub), I found this place quiet and cousy where the staff Brad and Jasmine there were very professional. The food it was nice (French Steak Sandwich) with a pint of Camden Hell. Nice to find places like this were after eating you can do some work quiet and in peace.

An amazing place to go for evening drinks! I’ve also been during the day to do some Uni work, it was a nice and relaxing environment, food was great and not forgetting the staff, they were so friendly and welcoming. Hats 🎩 off to Fabio, Ciaran and Jasmine for making me feel so welcomed.

Nice, low key night out friendly security and a lot of space!! Clean toilets as well. Cocktails were ok but not too adventurous.

Lovely pub in Upper Street with great staff. Our visit wasn’t without its hiccups, but that’s life, things go wrong and the staff more than made up for it. Really enjoyed the food and our time there generally.

Had an amazing evening here last Saturday 13th of November. Great music with great service especially from one of the management staff I forgot his name but I do remember him having Michael tattooed on his arm! Would highly recommend. Looking forward to coming back soon

It was one of the worst pub meals I've ever had in my life. And I'm not exaggerating. The drinks took Almost 45 min to arrive (and that was after a lot of reminders). The Sunday roasts took almost 2 hours (yes, 2 hours!!) and when they came they had run out of vegetables so they have us some fries as substitute. One of us ordered a beef Sunday roast and after 90 min we were told that they have run of out beef so they had to have a chicken instead. The roast itself was a poor 2/10. The service wasn't great either. They did try and apologize but none of it felt sincere. They gave us a discount on our drinks to compensate but it just wasn't sufficient to the horrible experience we had. NEVER AGAIN.

The vibes were immaculate. I would like to thank a waiter called jake (I think it was) who kindly pointed out that the poster on the wall said Los Angeles and that it wasn’t just random letters and symbols, I think I may be dyslexic!

What a great little spot for a pint in the neighborhood; they have TVs for sports and French doors that open when the weather is nice. Speaking of nice, the staff sure are too.

We were sitting upstairs and they had a pub quiz .we didnt officially join in as we were not staying long but it was a good quiz

We wanted to eat at 5 pm on a Saturday evening, before a show, and didn't book because we thought it would be a quiet time. The place was buzzing, including standing room at the bar, and all tables were taken and so we thought we might have to go elsewhere. A waitress pointed out that some tables would be free soon and, having got a table fairly quickly, we found that the reserved notice on our table was for 6:30 and so we would have time for a meal if the service was not too slow. We are vegans and both of us ordered the Amok curry. It was a nice dish with plenty of raw red chilli to spice it up. The tortilla was smothered in mango chutney but that worked so well when eaten with some of the fresh chilli ( which I found hot to eat without the sweet mango chutney ). We paid £19 for the 2 meals and were happy with what we got. The portions weren't large and so a hungry person might be disappointed but I would happily eat the same again if/when I was in the area. The reason we didn't give 5 stars is that the menu states that the dish contains okra and both of us had a maximum of 2 small pieces in our meal ( and that's trying to be positive about the amount of okra ).

Vegetarian sunday roast is not good! The nut roast had a weird consistency and tasted like a flapjack, the vegetables were dry and the red cabbage was marinaded in a sugary tasting sauce. Very disappointing. My friend had the chicken roast and although it was a big portion, it was very dry and there was not enough gravy to mask that. All felt over-cooked. Giving it an extra star as the ambiance is nice, easy to get a table and friendly staff behind the bar! Think they just need new chefs in the kitchen.

Vinimos aquí por un poco de vino caliente esta noche y fue absolutamente asqueroso. No somos particularmente quisquillosos, pero sabía a salsa vieja y aguada mezclada con jugo de naranja y vinagre. Se sirvió en una taza pequeña y a las 6 un pop tampoco era súper barato, no es que eso hubiera justificado lo abismal que sabía. Este lugar también es bastante sucio por dentro, especialmente los baños. Nunca más volveré aquí.
