Fav pub in London, one of the few proper pubs left. Great jukebox, great atmosphere, staff are lovely. Can get very busy at peak times, and it's not very big, but well worth seeking it out if you're in the area.

Buzzing atmosphere. We came here on a Thursday evening which is a busy night in London. The bar got queues down quickly but never seemed frantic. There were way more people stood on the street drinking than inside-- its quite small inside but we managed to find seats. The pub has received CAMRA awards, in particular for the quality of cider provision. I was stunned by the price of drinks- everything was very reasonably priced given that this pub is in central London. My cider was only £5 and I believe virtually all of the beers and ciders are similarly priced. Toilet isn't beautiful but nothing too horrendous.

I lived in England for a year of graduate school. That was a long time ago. Arguably the things I miss most is a good neighborhood pub. They are a bit hard to find in London. Your search is over. This is the place. I feel like coming home here. The patrons, the atmosphere, the non professional (open mic?) live music, the absence of loud radio, and the beer. They have what they call a "golden bitter" - it is exactly like the bitter I remember. Lovely. Brilliant.

I often come to this pub when I am in the area. I went the other day and it still has a great feel to it. The pub is cosy and the staff are friendly. The security guy on the door was looking after locals by making sure they got their ubers ok, which i thought was a nice touch. I highly recommend this pub if you are looking for a traditional public house that has been there for many many years.

🚇 Kings Cross St Pancras 🍺 £6.50 Staropramen One of London’s Top Boozers. I last posted about The King Charles I back in 2017. In recent months I have been in and around the Kings Cross area and I have always made time to visit this wonderful traditional boozer. This pub is one of the most revered pubs in London and for good reason. The backstreet location, the unique classic interior, the local pub feel and the warm and welcoming hospitality all add up to the most difficult of equations that make a pub special. It’s very rare that I use the term ‘hidden gem’ but this pub personifies that meaning. When you’re next in and around Kings Cross, do yourself a favour and pay a visit to this most excellent hostelry. ℹ️ Info correct on visiting 19.11.23

I wanted to find a venue to meet a friend near Kings Cross for some evening drinks and, having done some research, decided on King Charles I. I'm glad I did because it's a really nice pub serving good, well-kept beers, lagers, stouts and ciders. It's quite small inside, so seemed pretty full when I arrived around 6.15 on a Monday evening, but the clientele gradually thinned out during the course of the evening. The music was good too but not so loud that it was intrusive. I'd definitely go back for a few beers when I'm in the area again.

I very politely pointed out that it would be a good idea to rest them and not pour straight to the top, as an Irish person it's a painful thing to watch. I was met with an aggressive and rude response "don't tell me how to do my job" "I am pouring them right", etc. I'm sure the staff are busy and overworked but unacceptable to be outright rude to customers for no reason and call them names as they leave the pub. Hopefully the staff can get better training in pulling a pint of plain AND customer service
