The pub's decor is absolutely amazing. With vintage posters adorning the walls and antique furniture throughout, every detail has been thoughtfully selected to give off a cozy and inviting vibe. The lighting is perfect, not too harsh or too soft, and there are plenty of cozy seating choices available.

Marvelous old style pub, with the added bonus that there's no TV! (Hence no noisy sports customers). The beer selection was good and the staff super friendly and efficient. Food wasn't on offer on my visit, but the staff will tell you if you ask that you can order at a cafe across the road, and they'll bring it to you in the pub. A friend I was meeting made use of this and was quite happy with what he had. Gents is tiny, 1 WC and 1 urinal. Great pub! I'll go again!

Good little pub. Old wooden interior. Pint of Staropramen was £6.50. Staff friendly. Busy when I went. Can drink outside if you fancy with a few stools and benches there. Community pub and has a nice feel to it. Worth checking out when in the area because it is hidden away a bit so a bit of a nice place to chance upon for me.

I wanted to find a venue to meet a friend near Kings Cross for some evening drinks and, having done some research, decided on King Charles I. I'm glad I did because it's a really nice pub serving good, well-kept beers, lagers, stouts and ciders. It's quite small inside, so seemed pretty full when I arrived around 6.15 on a Monday evening, but the clientele gradually thinned out during the course of the evening. The music was good too but not so loud that it was intrusive. I'd definitely go back for a few beers when I'm in the area again.

What a fantastic find on our three day visit to London. Not only five real ales on draught, but live music on a Sunday night. A wonderful singer with her husband playing superb violin, and a brilliant pianist. Absolutely suberb atmosphere! Thank you!

Great backstreet pub now a community run venture saved by the locals 8 years ago. Made an asset of community value "ACV" in 2021, which should make it safe. Just off the Caledonian Road, if you like real ale and a cosy real pub environment then call in. It is not that big so try to avoid quiz nights or music events - have a look at the website.

Great pub with a lovely atmosphere. Unfortunately had a negative experience with the bar tender, who I watched pour 4-5 pints of Guinness without letting them rest. I very politely pointed out that it would be a good idea to rest them and not pour straight to the top, as an Irish person it's a painful thing to watch. I was met with an aggressive and rude response "don't tell me how to do my job" "I am pouring them right", etc. I'm sure the staff are busy and overworked but unacceptable to be outright rude to customers for no reason and call them names as they leave the pub. Hopefully the staff can get better training in pulling a pint of plain AND customer service

Undoubtedly the best pub that I visited on a recent trip to London. Small but interesting range of ales on tap including a well kept and excellent East London Foundation. One of the bar staff (a much older man) gave me major microaggressions. I ordered a non-alcoholic drink to which he rolled his eyes and said he'll serve people having a proper drink first. Was a paying customer - but was made to feel I didn't matter, and I was made to feel I had to justify why I wasn't drinking alcohol. There are many reasons (health, addiction, religious, pregnancy, or just because I want to). A younger member of staff served me instead after this behaviour. This visit was on 20th July at 5pm.
