My brothers and me had a great time there. Friendly and efficient staff, good food and beers.

Lovely spot to get a traditional Sunday Roast, the meat was amazing and so were the vegetables! We tried the pork belly roast and the special of the day which was the lamb chops roast. Would definitely recommend!

Last minute booking after having been to the postal museum, to get a Sunday roast. The team there were really helpful, we got a table upstairs perfect for the kids. Really good food, loved the lamb shank and the kids portions were really generous.

We came across this wonderful pub on a Sunday walk. We had a delicious sirloin Sunday roast, wonderfully cooked within open kitchen with delicious vegetables. Great wines. Fantastic friendly service in a very relaxed atmosphere and great bar. Great value. Highly recommend.

The Sunday Roasts were exceptional, we had the 1/2 roast chicken and sirloin of beef, lovely fresh vegetables,home made yorkies, meat cooked to perfection and great value for money, I would truly recommend this pub to anyone who finds themselves in this part of London.

Following a trip to the nearby Postal Museum, I hosted c 50 adults in the first floor private dining room, for supper. Room looked great. I had pre ordered meals and plenty of wine plus nibbles on arrival which went down very well. Drinks were all ready when we arrived. The food was on time and just as I’d hoped. Nick and his team did a great job. Made my life easier as it all ran like clockwork. Thanks to everyone at Union Tavern.

Was in London for business. The Union was across the street. Went twice for supper and was happily surprised with the quality and taste of everything. A great spot I would go back to.

Ate in here on a Monday evening, it was quite busy. It’s an open kitchen so the smell was a bit off putting, something between burning and oil. My husband had the fish and chips and I had the veg wellington. Both dishes just average. The gravy on mine was off putting. The chips though that were ordered by my husband were great! The waitresses were quick but not particularly friendly and the tables are far too close together. Wouldn’t return.

The Union Tavern has a great private dining room upstairs and I celebrated my birthday with 40 friends in January. The room is great and they set it up beautifully. We had pre lunch cocktails and then a sit down lunch (fabulous food). The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. There was no pressure to leave by a particular time. And the pricing is very reasonable. I can’t recommend this place enough - I’ve been celebrating my birthday there for 6 years (apart from lockdown!) and will continue to do so!

I had a steak and Sunday roast there. Both the food and ales were of exceptional quality. There are still many great pubs in the UK, but it is more likely than not that I will try to pay this one a visit whenever I am in the area.

Booked a table here as meeting family in London. Food was amazing and great value. Would definitely return, just a shame I don't live in London!

Descubrimos Union Tavern por casualidad (estaba cerca del hotel) y fue una grata sorpresa. La hamburguesa y el fish and chips que pedimos estaban muy bien preparados y nos dejaron encantados. Además, ofrecen menús y el ambiente es relajado y acogedor, perfecto para disfrutar de una buena comida. Los camareros fueron muy agradables y atentos, lo que añadió un punto extra a la experiencia. Es un pub/taberna con mucho encanto. Aunque leímos en otras reseñas que no se puede entrar con niños, creemos que esto se refiere a ciertas horas en las que, como en muchos pubs, hay restricciones para menores. En resumen, una parada más que recomendable para quien esté por la zona.

Stayed at the hotel across the street and decided to try this pub for a quick bite. The service and food didn't disappoint, we would go back.

Midweek meal here. Lovely quiet place (it’s currently Wednesday evening) with a nice vibe and good music at the right volume. But best of all was the steak. 8oz fillet, perfectly cooked and such wide variety of sides and sauces to suit. Highly recommended this place! I’d book in advance as the restaurant looks busy. I booked in there but asked to eat in the bar area instead and the staff were very accommodating. 👍

A classic, elegant, beauty of public house tavern hidden & worth finding. This old corner pub in the hidden borders of Clerkenwell is a Victorian beauty. A large hall bar with central round cornered, square bar sitting central. There's a well identified dining area with open kitchen separated from the rest of the bar by a vintage, decoratively cut glazed partition & carved wood arch. The drinking hall is embraced in decorative etched & pattern painted glazing & original cut glass mirrors in vintage frames. There high low seating & a calm atmosphere of local friends. An excellent selection of beers are served with grand 70esque tunes & a very rare excellent, understated pleasantly helpful, engaged service, under antique cut glass droplet lamps & complementary modern chandeliers hanging from an elegant patterned ceiling. The corner stairs echo to when this was an edge of London tavern, last stop in or out of the city. This cultured, handsome cut glass gem is a haven of calm worth exploring past Exmouth Market.

Very warm welcome from the waitress and bartender. Very good meat and fish & chips. Beer and nice red wine. Fair prices.

Really good steak here ! Sitting near the kitchen is too hot even for winter so try to avoid sitting so close so there the steaks etc are cooked, otherwise it’s an outstanding pub.

Opposite the fabulous Crowne Plaza hotel is the Union Tavern, which has great food and attentive and friendly waiters and waitresses. Spectacular food, good treatment for celiacs like me.

Come here at least once a week as work in London & stay at hotel opposite. Staff are lovely, super friendly & very helpful. Food is AMAZING. Prices are very cheap & every meal I’ve had has been gorgeous. Don’t go elsewhere, just head straight to the Union Tavern. Really lovely place to eat.

Had a wonderful roast beef dinner today. It was cooked to our requirement. Great atmosphere & service. Potatoes crispy on outside fluffy inside, beef so tender with delicious homemade gravy. Will definitely go back.

Went to The Union Tavern (Lloyd Baker Street) in London this evening. I have coeliac disease so can't have gluten. They don't have a dedicated fryer, but were very knowledgeable and talked me through what menu items I could have and what could be adapted. Really tasty!

We're staying at the Crowne Plaza Kings Cross and after a day of sightseeing we're delighted to spot this lovely place just across the road. The staff was incredibly accommodating, the food was superb and came out pretty swiftly.

Came here with friends. My first tome, but I was very impressed. Had the two course lunch offer, and ended the food. Good quality, and very reasonable price for central London. Staff were friendly too.

Was looking for a place to hold a lunch for a reunion for 25 plus guests. Was recommended this place from a friend as they had a good experience here. Communicated with Nick and Crook respectively with how to book and they offered the function room. Food and drink selection was great with a good menu for kids. Upon arrival, the room was prepared with a long table already set up for dining. Extra tables and seating was also set up in case we needed more. Special shout out to Maisy and Hannah who served us throughout. Thank you so much for making this experience enjoyable and getting the food to us promptly with no delay, especially with all our kids running around! Your patience and customer service is impeccable. I would definitely recommend this place and return again with my family. Great decor, great location, great staff and cosy atmosphere.

We've been a few times here both at lunchtime and in the evening. Always a warm welcome, good service and delicious food. Steak frites this evening was great

We went there for simplicity (in front of our hotel) and we had a good surprise. We were in a hurry because we had to take the train and our waitress understood this well. We were served well on time! The meal was very well cooked and varied. Very good address!

Booked a table online as the previous day was packed out. Waited a few minutes at the bar whilst the tables were turned round, and perused the menu. Specials were written on blackboards around the walls of the restaurant area of the pub but we settled on the fish and chips, and the chicken burger. Warm bread was served along with large bottles of tap water for the table b4 the mains arrived. Omg, the fish and chips were delicious... perfect batter with mushy peas on the side. Hubby thought the chicken burger was fab too (nothing was left on the plates) The staff were kept busy all night, it's a popular place! Well worth a visit if you're in the area.

Very good address managed by efficient and very helpful staff who found us a table on a Saturday evening... without reservation. Excellent value for money. The products are fresh and the dishes are prepared on site and sought after (the kitchen is visible from the room). We recommend Edit: we enjoyed it so much we went back 2 days later. The place was as welcoming as ever with a new team and we enjoyed ourselves just as much (even our 10 year old son who had choices and flavors in his children's menu)

This tavern was next to our hotel. The food was great. The drinks were great. The owner was very hospital and kind. Highly recommend.

My friend and I planned to go for a Sunday roast around Kings Cross and ended up choosing here because it had the best reviews. No regrets! Even though the service could’ve been a little better (one guy in particular was quite abrupt/rushed/stressed, clearly very busy) the food and the warm cosy pub vibes more than made up for it. I went for the pork belly and my friend and her daughter both had chicken. We shared the apple & pear crumble with custard and ice cream for dessert. Everything was delicious!

Stopped in for one on route - Nice place. They have kept some of the Victorian features. Friendly staff, good beers - on the pricy side, but as said, beer is good, as is the ambience.

Service was great, swift and seated quickly without waiting around despite it being quite busy. Nice decor and we were offered a selection from the specials and the main menu. A good assortment to choose from and excellent if you lile your Red Meat or Sea Food. You should expect to pay a little more but really you are getting what you pay for here. I had the Pork Belly which was a great portion and very well cooked with all the Sunday Trimmings. My daughter had the mussels which she said a were a little 'gritty' but not too bad. My wife had the vegetarian dish. All in all a very nice meal indeed. Definitely reccommend a visit.

Came here for my birthday dinner. It was a really awesome experience. The waiting staff were excellent, attentive and really friendly. Including on email sorting out the booking prior. The food was really delicious, cocktails great. They were also accomodating to my dietary restictions. The restaurant had atmosphere but was also quiet enough we could easily chat. Couldn't have asked for anything more :)

Visiting from California we decided to visit the pub across the street from our hotel out of convenience. Expecting a normal pub menu. How wrong we were. We ordered a chicken dish and were overwhelmed to how good it was. The starter was the calamari and desert a toffee cake with ice cream nothing was what we would expect from a pub. The staff though reluctant at the start which thought maybe just a beer and go, did not seem very inviting but by time we left they were as helpful and friendly as you would hope.

Simple pub grub, served by friendly, helpful staff. The simple grub is actually really well cooked and presented. If you're stopping at the Crowne Plaza across the road, this is a good alternative to the hotel restaurant.

We ate here a couple times. Service was friendly every time. Food is good, portions are rather large. Sunday roast was very tasty, surprisingly, the roast carrots and parsnips were the star of the show.

Great food. Good choice of menu and drinks. Ambience was great, nice vibe. The service was excellent, the two young ladies, were attentive without being in your face, friendly and extremely pleasant. Highly recommend eating here. Would definitely visit again when next in London.

Found this place as we were staying in travelodge just down road. Reviews were good so said we'd give it a go. Definitely a big let down. All we got were tiny overpriced portions. He got fish special and was charged 25£ for tiny piece that wouldn't fill a child. Ordered extra chips so he could fill up. I had burger paid 1.50 extra for bacon. Literally got 1 tiny piece that just looked sad. Didn't bother with desert as rest of meal was such a let down. On the positive what we got tasted great and the service was good. To add insult to injury about feeling over charged for what we got there was almost 8£ service charge added as well. Won't be back

Food good but service questionable. First night we went all was very good. We decided to. Is it again and reserved a table for two in a specific location. However when we arrived they refused to let us take it as it had been later reserved by a party of 7. So they bumped us to a table we did not want. No apology, no explanation from them or sweetener. So we left and went to an Italian that was not far away and was great.

An interesting menu with a good variety. The fish main course I had was excellent and others coming out of the kitchen looked equally good. By comparison the pudding was OK but not to the same standard. I hope to go again to try something else from the menu as there was more I'd have liked to try.

Visited this place for some lunch with my family. A two course set menu for £15 (of which the chorizo starter in particular was incredible!) Highly recommend. Fast and fantastic service.

We found this pub across the road from our hotel and we had several evening meals there. The food and service are excellent and it has a nice atmosphere. Also has a couple of real ale taps with some nice beers.

Found this Pub, it was near our Air BNB, near Notting Hill. Very good food and vibe, best part was the outdoor seating downstairs. Will be back this Fall.

This was a great experience for a Canadian visiting London. We got to have traditional dishes that were either elevated or just done to perfection. The portions were generous and we didn't feel rushed.

Quiet atmosphere, pleasant place. We had dinner on a Saturday. Attentive service. Delicious food, although the squid with vegetables dish only had 4 pieces of squid. The meat is very tasty and very well cooked.

Extremely disappointed. Was told the fish and chips were very good. Maybe so, not when they are completely out of them. Asked for garlic bread, oh, out of that too. Had four grandchildren with us so we took what we could get, and that was barely decent. Staff could have cared less. If not for the grandkids we would have walked out.

With a tour group and staying multiple nights at the IHG Crowne Plaza right across the street from this locally run gem. It was a busy Saturday Night before the London Marathon, and the hotel restaurant was slammed with another tour group. So I walked less than 50 feet across the street to a wonderful local chef 🧑‍🍳 inspired dinner and drinks. Good selection, with daily specials that are great values,even with their service charge and most importantly our food was delicious! Their warm peppercorn sauce, made fresh, was delightful with my flank steak.

A fantastic private room for corporate events. Nick and the team were incredible to work with. We hosted a pub quiz for our team and the space worked perfectly. We had our own little bar, a fantastic choice of food to suit all dietaries and a great drink selection as well as being able to play our own music. We will certainly be back, thank you for hosting us!

Enjoyable lunch with glass of malbec

We didn't eat on site, but the food looked delicious. The drinks were delicious, the place was clean and cozy.

My husband and I went for our first visit last month and it was absolutely gorgeous. I expected good 'pub grub' but it was so much more impressive. The food was presented so well and it was absolutely delicious! The staff were super friendly and attentive, we will definitely be back for another visit soon! Thank you :)

We were staying at a hotel near the Kings Cross station in London and wondering about dinner. I was also looking forward to a decent beer. When the group sitting near us got up I overheard some say “we are going to the pub next door - the food’s great.” Nothing like the recommendation of a local I thought so we quickly followed - out hotel could only come up with a bottle of Corona so goodness knows what the food was like. The traditional style pub is called The Union Tavern - and turned out to be excellent. A set two course dinner costs 16 pounds 95 - I started with calamari with Asian salad and for mains lamb chops with potatoes carrots and tea red wine jus. Great pub food and there are excellent beers on tap as well. If you prefer you can have steak priced from around 25 quid. Service was quick and friendly - we had a great night.

A long lazy lunch for a family gathering. The food was delicious and very happily priced. The service was great - nice and laid back. It’s just so good. Simple as that.

This is a lovely friendly pub with a welcoming atmosphere, attentive staff and good service (a service charge is included). The food is very good indeed, decent portions and pretty good value for London. The roast pork belly that I had was really excellent. My wife's roast beef was also pretty good. Beer is good too, from the Rebellion Brewery of Marlowe.

Lekkere steaks, lekker mals, mooie portie. Service vriendelijk en snel. Het dessert was echt groot, meer dan geslaagd en je zal geen honger hebben. Qua gezelligheid is het zeker ok. Niet 100 prct de oude pub vibe maar meer dan goed genoeg.

I live close by and eat here periodically. Every time I have been here the service and food has been great. I ate here with some discerning Americans who thought it was great! This meal was typical in that the food was delicious. For a lot of the time there was one incredibly switched on waitress who was surreal in her ability to multitask and her pleasant manner. The high ratings for this unassuming place are not there for no reason.
