Nice pub, good beer selection. Friendly.

Good boozer, friendly staff, usually always a place to sit. Clean bathroom. Food is good, fairly portioned. Had the beef and venison pie and the Hunter's Chicken. Both are good choices to fill you. Four ale taps, a selection of "craft" (read: pale ales), a Cider, Peroni and cold Guinness. They have a selection of cocktails and shots as well, which I did not indulge in. Music has been a touch loud, but it's a pub so is to be expected. They have an app to order and pay with, but you need to ask the bartender what the table number is as they're not obviously numbered, and the rotating taps are not listed in the app.

. The Angelic 📍 57 Liverpool Rd, London N1 0RJ 🚇 Angel 🍺 £6.00 Amstel An Eye Catching Islington Local. The Angelic is located just around the corner from Chapel Market on Liverpool Road. The nearest Tube is Angel, it’s a four minute walk to get here. Opened as George IV in 1824, The Angelic was renamed after the film The Angelic Conversation, directed by Derek Jarman who lived opposite the pub during the 1960s. This striking pub would have had five internal divisions, as suggested by the numerous external doors. This is a bright and airy good sized pub which thankfully retains some original features like the beautiful fireplace. The main bar is laid out in a ‘C’ shape around a bold blue servery which has a stunning back bar. There are large windows spanning three walls which flood the pub with light, if you look around the top of the walls you will see the original Victorian ceramic frieze. The seating consists of rustic tables and chairs plus comfy booths and benches. If you head upstairs you’ll find another bar that is used as a function room. It’s a cosy, comfortable drinking space that comes with plenty of candle-lit tables and a mural on the ceiling. If you need the loo, you have to descend town a spiral staircase which has, yes you guessed it, a water feature at the bottom. The beer line up will please most, there is a selection of popular keg, revolving craft and cask ales to choose from. I opted for an Amstel, my pint was decent, price point was average. The food menu is classic pub grub plus Roasts on a Sunday, Fish & Chips costs £17. We arrived around 6pm on a Saturday evening in October. The pub was packed with a predominantly younger crowd and had a vibrant buzzy upbeat atmosphere. The service was on point, although it was busy, we didn’t have to wait long to be served. This pub shows Live Football, hosts Comedy Nights upstairs, DJ nights and offers various drinks promotions through the week. This is a very eye catching boozer that easily draws you in. I loved the original Victorian features and the buzzy vibe about the place. @theangelicislington.uk is a good all-rounder that is well worth a visit. ℹ️ Info correct on 14.10.23

Very rude male bar staff, sexist with a lack of social skills. Wouldn’t allow us to continue sitting at the bar on bar stools that were free and already there. Men allowed to stay. No consideration for where we would sit as an alternative.

Definitely a lovely pub and great ambience in Angel. However, I attended the Angelic for a birthday party but was absolutely flabbergasted by the 12.5% service charge applied to drinks when ordered AT THE BAR! I understand inflation and cost of living but £7.13 for a pint of Guinness is a little outrageous considering the "service" was literally just pouring it.

The pub has potential but a man was extremely rude to us (we think the manager). Our friend ordered a vegan chicken burger and a different burger came and we complained and he kept saying ‘this is what you ordered, what you ordered is on the table’. We then complained again and finally they agreed to actually give the right burger as they sent a vegan beef not a vegan chicken burger, The exact same thing also happened to the table next to us, so it looks like they send you the wrong thing and then try to make out that you’re the one who’s made a mistake. Very strange service

Went there on NYE, for lunch. The staff were so amazing all day, they really looked after us, we had a great time. The pub is also big and bright and comfortable to spend many hours there!

We came here for dinner and a drink on December 27th. I told the bartender I wanted a cider but he kept trying to convince me to get a cocktail. It was annoying but I think it was more a case of trying to be funny rather than pressuring me for an upsell. They were out of a lot of their meal options, no doubt owing to being busy over Christmas, which was a shame, but we both ate burgers and they were tasty. It’s nicely presented pub from the massive Stonegate Group.

I had a wonderful birthday afternoon tea with The Angelic. What a day to remember! Hats off to the great head chef who tailor made a delicious afternoon tea (the best we've ever had!) Such tasty warm food, portion abundant- had to take half home! And delightful atmosphere. The bar staff are excellent, looked after us and showed what hospitality really is. We shall visit this wonderful Islington gem again, treat yourself for a reasonably priced afternoon tea or meal here, you won't be disappointed! Thank you! 😊

Wow! I was at the angelic on Monday evening, and it was a pleasure. A really friendly barmaid greeted me, she had a great attitude and poured an awesome pint! Good atmosphere as well. Thanks guys, will definitely come again.

My partner and I recently celebrated a special event at this venue following our wedding, and I cannot express enough how positively overwhelmed we were by the exceptional service provided by the staff. From the moment we stepped in, the staff went above and beyond, showcasing unparalleled kindness, thoughtfulness, and genuine dedication to ensuring our celebration was nothing short of perfect. The food and cocktails were delicious, well presented and great value for the number of guests we had (they have a great canapés menu for events). The upstairs room, where our event took place, has a cool ceiling/story and was painted by an artist who lived opposite the pub. You can play your own music - it created a great atmosphere for our celebration. The staff's attention to detail and commitment to making every moment enjoyable truly set this place apart. We were already fans of the pub for its cosy and homely atmosphere, which is precisely why we chose it for our celebration. However, after the incredible experience we had, we are beyond excited to become regulars. Our heartfelt thanks to the entire team for making our special day even more memorable. A very disappointing Sunday roast, the equivalent to a microwavable meal. It has a quarter of a carrot (literally), half a parsnip, 1 broccoli stem (2 if you're lucky!), 2 tiny mangetouts, a sea of Bisto gravy, 3 soggy roast potatoes and 2 spoons of tasteless mash, and one piece of very dry, overcooked, low quality beef. Let's not forget the Yorkshire pudim, probably from a frozen bag. No seasoning, no taste. All of it for £18!

We were looking for a family pub and decent food, that's exactly what we got. Nice atmosphere, friendly staff and the food was fairly priced also. The space was great for our kids also.

Came for the F1 and dinner on a Sunday. On their website you can book especially for this. Slightly disappointing, they sat us in front of the Football to start, so we reminded the staff that our booking was for F1. Then they said it wasn’t possible to play the sound and played loud music instead. I just think if they are advertising booking F1 tables that there would be more attention to this but didn’t meet my expectations. For food we ordered fish and chips, a chicken burger and a beef roast. It was not bad.

Expensive . But you pay for quality. For me the music is too loud to hold a conversation properly. Otherwise a great place for a well prepared meal .

My husband and I really enjoyed our Sunday night visit to The Angelic. The bar staff joked with us and made us feel comfortable and welcome right away. We ordered our beers and nachos. The bartender suggested adding chicken (which was not on the menu) and it was delicious! It wasn’t very crowded that night but we could tell that the patrons were regulars…friends that gather to play a game (a few board games available there) and have a pint. It’s a short walk from the Hilton Doubletree Angel and worth the visit. We are hoping to return some day.

American tourist. Tried the Angelic in London. Food was phenomenal! Cosmo the bartender is a great guy! Made the experience even better! The steak was juicy and cooked to perfection and the french fries were really good too. Not greasy. I highly recommend this place if you're staying in London near the Hilton garden inn or near King's Cross.

Tall, grey haired man served me. Not a word spoken. Sort of nodded at me to ask what I wanted, then gave it to me and presented me with the card machine. Even after I paid - not a word. I'm not expecting people to be subservient but a 'hello' or a smile or a 'thank you' is not asking much. Or telling you what you are being charged! He was in his 40s I think so should have had a bit of customer service experience. He really seemed like he didn't want to be there. Other than that, quite a nice pub.

My daughter and I had got tickets to see her favourite band in London some months ago little knowing at the time that it would end up corresponding with the Lionesses in the final of the Womens World Cup. After a last minute change of trains to get into London on time we were against the clock trying to find the right place to watch the game which wasn't too far from Kings Cross. Many of the big screen venues were immediately sold out and although Victoria Park was a possibility as the afternoon's concert was in Chiswick, I was weary of extra time and penalties leading to a last minute dash across much of London (which my 16 yo could manage but my 47 yo bones would've struggled with). We found the Angelic via the website Design my Night and thought we would try it out and I am so glad we did. As a Mum and a teenager going into an unknown pub I was a little trepidatious at best but I had nothing at all to worry about. The staff were polite, friendly and welcoming, the drink selection looked varied and interesting and the food both looked and smelled delicious. Each party who had booked in had a labelled table which all had a good view of one of the multiple screens set up for the occasion. The locals were really friendly and the clientele was varied in age and possible about an 80:20 split women:men (as we were) passionately supporting the Lionesses throughout the game without making the atmosphere anything other than a shared experience. I would imagine the experience of watching any sporting event there would be good fun (especially if the result went the right way!) and I'm very jealous of the people of Islington who get to call this place their local.

This was our first trip to London and we got chatting to a lovely girl with blonde hair which I believe her name was Lauren , she served us our drinks quickly and even as busy as the pub was she still took time to help us understand how the tube works and showed us an app that was perfect for getting around London easily. There staff take the time with customers here which I really enjoyed , most places don’t even bat an eyelid to help a group of adults but Lauren really did help us and she made our time in london so much easier and gave us many recommendations. I booked the upstairs room (the "Sistine Chapel" due to its painted ceiling) for a work leaving party. Marta and Kevin handled all my worried questions with patience and good humour. On the night, I was left to talk to everyone and enjoy myself; Marta and Kevin took care of everything else. The promised two bar staff were increased to three when things got busy. The projector and microphone were there as promised and the buffet miraculously appeared right on time. The choice of drinks is great (I love Neck Oil) and the food was great. I've been downstairs before for a quiet drink and this is the second upstairs party I've been to. I'm sure others from my former place of work will use this venue again. I hope so - and I hope I'm invited!

I are he yesterday and have been horrifically Sick since. I had a wildly over priced fish finger sandwich which was disgusting. I have been stuck in bed throwing up with high fever and aches and pains since. Safe to say I will not be returning. Avoid this place at all cost. We attended the pub/restaurant, for a leaving party for one of our colleagues and we hired the function room on the 1st floor. I have to say, the buffet food that they supplied was excellent and of a very high quality. The staff were great and the choice of beers was excellent.
