Surprisingly good pub and just next to entrance to busy tube station so I expected it would have been crowded as hell at Friday evening but we managed to find a table after visiting Nandos next door. They pour nice pint of Guinness which is not that common in London anymore, fast one too. Price is normal, 6.65, so close to devil's number. We had good time, music wasn't loud, service was attentive and you could tell they have a good team there. Not my area at all but please visit when nearby you won't be disappointed. Liked decor and painting, toilet was clean which is not a case in so many places in London. Decent, honest pub.

Don’t bother ……. We booked a table for 4pm for a roast. Specifically booked for a roast. To be told only 1 chicken left and nut roast. Disgusting. The attitude from the staff also unacceptable. Not even an apology. Did not even advised us no roast left when we arrived. Let us buy drinks without even saying no roasts. This place is a disgrace. I will keep you posted if the proprietor contacts me.

Had a very good lunch and enjoyed having a few pints. Great service, great choice of beers and gins and the food was very good. Staff were all friendly. We'll be back in May.

Called in for a pint after tea. Lovely old style historic pub, nice atmosphere for the time of the day, service was solid but had two pints of Peroni and both where flat.

We took my mum in for a drink for her 70th birthday today after she recently told us that she had celebrated her 18th and 21st birthdays in there. I emailed the pub yesterday telling them and just asking if I could take her upstairs so she could see the function room where she’d had her celebrations all those years ago. When we arrived, we ordered our drinks and were told that the first round was being paid for by the manager. An incredibly kind gesture that we all hugely appreciated. That’s how you get returning customers! Made my Mum‘s day! Thanks again!

We've been coming to the Pub Quiz on a Tuesday for nearly a year now. Its in the upstairs area which is a little quieter and has it's own small bar which opens during the quiz. Staff are always lovely and the quiz is great fun!

We had a great family lunch for around 20 of us. Big room, good food and great staff. The cost was very reasonable. Absolutely recommended!

Situated adjacent to Farringdon Station, this pub is easily accessible. There's quite a good pub vibe about the place, with a varied clientele, majoring on local office workers who come here for lunch or an after work drink, but it's popular with locals and tourists as well. The Pan Roasted Hake with King Prawns which I ordered was superbly prepared but I did feel there was an ingredient missing: some greens. There were some sautéed baby potatoes but the samphire advertised turned out to be no more than just a garnish so the plate looked a bit bare and the meal lacked that balance that green vegetables would have given it. The desserts were very good - we enjoyed the Sticky Toffee Puddings, always a big favourite. There are about three cask ales on the bar, some from smaller breweries, although nothing local (from London) at the time of our visit and very expensive - at over £6 a pint, this is steep even for Central London. Staff could smile a bit more but are very efficient - indeed perhaps too efficient. Leaving the table unattended briefly, I had a glass still containing some beer taken away. Fortunately I managed to retrieve it from the bar counter, as at these prices you don't want to be losing even a small amount of your drink.

Popped in for food and a drink with friends. Two couples .. did separate orders. Ordered drinks .. then ordered food. Food arrived for couple no.1. Quick!* After 10 to 15 minutes, drinks arrived for couple no.2. Gin first then a few minutes later, the tonic. Another 5 minutes later, food arrived for couple no.2. *After more than 40 minutes, drinks for couple no.1 still hadn't arrived! And it really was not busy. Staff friendly. Food good. Service poor/shocking!

Decent place to pop in for a pint conveniently located next to Farringdon station. Nice atmosphere inside. This pub is in the Good Beer Guide and the couple of ales I had were in good condition. Service was efficient. Didn't try the food.

City pub, smartly decorated and has a great vibrant atmosphere.

I pre-booked a table for 5 at 12:45pm for the Sunday roast. I arrived at 12:20 and was pointed to my table only to find it was for another party at 13:45. I was then shown to "my" table after a group were asked to move. When the rest of my party arrived we all decided on the roast beef. My friend went to the bar to ordered. The first roast arrived promptly and I started to eat. After a few minutes my friend asked where the other 4 dinners were and was told they had only put one through. We were then told they now only had enough beef for two more dinners so now two of our party had to have chicken. Can someone please explain who you are out of beef for Sunday roast by 1pm? Gradually the rest of the food arrived. All of the food came on plates that were at best lukewarm but closer to cold. The food was all piled on top of itself so the roast potatoes were a soggy mess under a mountain of cabbage with poorly roasted carrots with gravy already poured over the whole mess. The only slight redeeming quality was that the beef wasn't over cooked, though was very fatty. My friend then ordered more drinks - but again this was a fun experience as he had to order twice because they again "only put one through". In total our group spent over £200 for which we received some of the most inattentive service I've ever had and probably the worst roast I've ever had in a pub. At no point were we offered any money off the bill for the shambolic nature of our time there.

Lovely venue, modern, eclectic vibe, lovely open fire, staff brilliant, food excellent, everything wonderful. Shame about the toilets - broken and not cleaned from night before. Only thing that let the place down

Loved the vibe of the place, very cozy and festive. We ordered hallumi fries which we absolutely loved and nachos. The nachos were a little different from what we ususly get in other places, these were not store bought and the portion was huge. Would love to go back again.

We held a huge family Christmas Party. There were about 50 or 60 of us. With all the comings and goings it was difficult to keep track. It couldn’t have been better. The friendliest staff, speedy service at the bar, super fast food service and great quality food and drinks all day long. It was a rip-roaring success. Thanks to Jason and the Team. We had a blast!!!

I've not been here before and I was pleasantly surprised at the attentive service. Especially from Sophie who was absolutely amazing and professional. Made us feel at home even though it was really busy at times. Thank you so much Sophie and Team Castle Farringdon. I will definitely be coming back in the future.

I stopped in for a couple of drinks last week as I was early for something else. Service was excellent, atmosphere had a great vibe on a Saturday afternoon, and the Rugby World Cup was showing on the big screen. Nice pub, would definitely come back next time I'm in the area.

This would be quite a good place except... - 0 vegan options, and most dishes unavailable - Difference in what was available on the app vs. what was actually available when asking - There were mice on pub floor - A staff member stepped on a mouse, crushing it, which kind of killed our mood Service and staff were friendly and nice otherwise, but won't be returning sorry. overall really poor experience.

The staff were excellent and responsive, helpful and the App made things so easy, way above average for a London pub and restaurant. Food was very good, hot and timely.

I stopped off for food and drinks on the way to football at Stratford. The Castle is conveniently located but was extremely busy at 6pm. Fortunately I had booked a table and the staff were excellent getting me to the table and serving the food.

Nice pub and kitchen. Party of a chain, but I learned that to get proper UK craft beer, you must ask for what's on tap. Otherwise you get bottles/cans of craft beer. Not sure it really makes a difference.

I came here for fisch and chips, watched rugby world cup game England vs Argentina game, enjoyed not only food but also good service and brilliant spirit of this place.

Great pub, love it top draw and decent quick food but the glass collection team just chill out. Taking drinks still being drunk constantly squeezing by and genuinely annoying. Just chill a bit. We left because we had a drink knocked over as they went to get a half drunk drink as the dude drinking it slightly turned their back

This place wasn't busy and had no real atmosphere. The staff are all very polite. This place is fine for a quiet drink, but I wouldn't here. My friend had fish and chips, which had bones In and came 10mins before my meal, this place was not busy at all and my food came 10mins after my friend's which is bad and no apologie for it and also no checking our food was OK, if they did I would have happily have told them this. The beyond burger I ordered was not a beyond burger, it was a cheap imitation, please change this on your menu and don't lie to people, I know what beyond burgers look and taste like and this not a beyond burger. Fries were good, burger was just ok, it wasn't very hot, probably because it came 10minutes after my friend's meal and was just left sat there getting cold. The burger also looked a mess, it looked like it was shoved together quickly even though I had to wait ages for it, also the plate wasn't cleaned. There were plenty of staff here and nit many customers, there is really no excuses for meal coming so late after my friends. Also our plates were left for 1 hour after we had a eaten, again plenty of staff so no excuses. Whilst I was still waiting for my food, this random guy popped out if nowhere, I am guessing he is the manager, he never introduced himself and he came over and read out a list if ingredients in the supposed burger, to which I said it's fine I have had a beyond burger before and I am fine with them, not knowing that it wasn't a behind burger. This random man who read the ingredients out then disappeared. This place is fine for fldrinka, but not food. If someone had checked how the food was maybe this could have been resolved. Also need more vegetarian and vegan options on the menu.

Second time of booking for a walking group meal. Pub was responsive and helpful, even with late changes for numbers. Food ordered in advance was delivered to our tables efficiently and on time. Enjoyable meals had by all in a pub with an interesting history. Well situated in the heart of Farringdon and a stone's throw from the underground. Would book here again

I had a fantastic time at the Castle pub celebrating my birthday with friends. The staff were very friendly and the food was delicious.

We had just arrived in London, sleep-deprived and our hotel not quite ready, and The Castle Pub took care of us with friendly service, delicious food and nice ambiance. A good intro to our London trip!

Visited the castle for the first time, a great little pub, popular with locals. There is a great atmosphere and despite being busy service was very quick. We opted to sit upstairs and it was a little quieter, which was nice. The decor is really well thought out and tastefully done, the upholstery is really sumptuous in nice velvets. We enjoyed a few drinks and then the nachos and my goodness were we surprised when they arrived to our table, home made nachos and topped with everything you could hope for! The chillis added that kick of heat and the sour cream to cool the palate afterwards. A delightful sharing plate. Superb location right outside Farringdon station. Look forward to returning with friends again soon.

I used to be a regular around 15 years ago when I worked in the area but hadn’t been back in a few years. Decent selection of all drinks. Came back for the pub quiz and won. £50 bar tab gift card which we spent on a £48 bottle of English sparkling wine.

Went for after dinner drinks. Considering the location right next to the station, The Castle wasn't too busy or noisy so stayed for dinner too. Typical pub-fare but friendly staff and food was better than expected. Will definitely go back 👍🏽

Never been spoken to like this in all my years of drinking in pubs. Firstly we tried to go upstairs to the toilet and shouted at... because the upstairs was closed (ps- no sign) Then we cheered when a staff member went upstairs (in jest) Only to be approached by a manager- to tell us to stop harassing his staff and making inappropriate comments... of which none were made... then he threatened to kick us out and proceeded to accuse us of being "nightmare customers" We had 1 pint and left... never to return Ps- would love a call from the manager. Message me (you won't because you only reply to 5 star reviews)

Popped in for Saturday lunch. Has a great couple of pints and lovely burger and chips. Highly recommend
