I am so glad to have this place as my local. I had the best time and service over there. Definitely recommend !

We had our Halloween Party at the private room upstairs, food was fantastic, Alex and Florence was such a big help!!! Great service!

Quick service with friendly helpful staff. Lovely tea and not at all expensive.

I was here at lunchtime, and it was a calm and nice atmosphere. And I eat the classic fish and chips and that was really nice 👍🏼 The beer menu was okay. Overall I’m very happy with this restaurant and I can recommend a visit here.

Calm and beautiful atmosphere with plugs to charge your phone. Comfy seating with helpful and quick service. Big portions, good quality fish for a fair price and a great drinks menu, would recommend!

You might be tricked into going into this place since it’s right across the street from the Farringdon station - DON’T. Anywhere would be better than here.

Been going there for a while as previously did an excellent pie. Sadly no more: gravy is taste and consistency of tap water, or at least was on my visit yesterday. Such a shame.

Always love going to the Castle, friendly and helpful staff. Food is excellent. Atmosphere is great. I would recommend to anyone, close to Farringdon station also.

Spend an afternoon in here waiting to go to a gig at Betsy Trotwood. The castle was great a relaxed atmosphere really friendly staff and the TEA beer was wonderful. A great afternoon.

We came there for pre fabric 🥶😅 beers are not the best but ok. People are really welcoming not just the stuff but the guests as well 🥳I will definitely go there once again, as a newcomer to this country I am adding this place to my doitagain list

The Castle in Farringdon is what every London pub ought to be but rarely is. Nestled conveniently near the tube station, it’s the kind of place that should make every other pub in the city hang its head in shame and quietly consider relocating to Milton Keynes. First off, the beer is good. Not "interesting" or "complex" or any of the other nonsense that beard-stroking hipsters use to describe the muck they pretend to enjoy. No, this is just proper beer—cold, crisp, and everything you want after a day spent navigating the sheer lunacy that is London. Now, let’s talk about the clientele. This place isn’t swarming with tourists or locals who’ve been there since the Thatcher era. No, the people here are good-looking—properly good-looking. You could almost believe you’ve accidentally wandered into a GQ photo shoot, except everyone’s holding pints instead of posing with a watch they can’t afford. The location? Bang on. Farringdon tube is a stone’s throw away, so even if you’ve had a few too many, you won’t need to embark on a cross-city trek that feels like a scene out of *Lord of the Rings*. And once inside, the seating options are spot on. You can choose from cozy corners, bar stools with just the right amount of wobble, or, if you’re feeling social, a communal table that doesn’t force you into awkward conversations about the weather. In short, The Castle is just good. Really, properly good. So stop reading this, go down there, and get yourself a pint. Because this is what a London pub should be—no frills, no fuss, just fantastic.

Great atmosphere and a happy crowd filled the period saloon bar with a pleasant buzz. The staff were lovely especially emma who took care of me in the best way, Also the beers were well curated and cared for. Could happily while away a few hours here, the ambience is very soothing.

I had such a lovely experience at The Castle. From the atmosphere to being quickly greeted, seated and served. I was served by Alex who was smiling the whole time and stayed patient as I listed out my orders and also checked up on our table to make sure things were running smoothly which I really appreciated. Such a great pub will most definitely be coming again!!

Don’t trust these folks. I have been at this pub now for a few visits, always enjoying my experience. However, tonight, I left my sunglasses on a chair near the bar. Came back less than 10 minutes later, with very few people in the bar at the time we left, and glasses are gone. Stolen, I believe, by the people that work there. They were rude tonight from the start, showed disdain for my friends when we ordered our drinks late in the evening (but well before they closed) and never showed us any respect or care even though we were courteous, and not at all intoxicated. I am furious at one lady bartender in particular and I believe she knows what happened. However, I could be wrong and willing to accept that though I fundamentally believe, that since no one was inside the pub when we left, that they took my rather expensive sunglasses. Come on guys, I would rather tip you 100 quid each rather than losing the glasses, i suspect that arrangement would have been acceptable to you. So pissed you didn’t deliver these back to me. You know better.

Stumbled upon this pub and I’m so happy I did! Great food and drink with an amazing atmosphere. The staff are all so friendly too, especially Florence the bartender. Can’t wait to come back!

Really well looked after by the staff and manager, and food was excellent too, much better than we'd normally expect from pub food! Also we were booking on the night of the Euros final when a lot of pubs were taking advantage and inflating prices or charging just for entry, but the Castle was very fair only taking a small deposit and allowing it to be used towards food and rdrink spend - we'll be back - thanks :)

I popped in for a glass of wine after work, and this place did not dissapoint. Great selection of wine and beer. Excellent and attentive service. I was served by Sam and a lovely belgian girl. ( I don’t remember her name. sorry) Overall superb place to go with amazing bar staff. I will be back for sure. :)

We were in the upstairs room for a large family gathering. The staff were polite, friendly and attentive. The food was tasty and the drinks were good. All in all we had a fab time. MF

Came here for dinner with my best friend. We ordered the 3 for £17 bar snacks and was not disappointed! Soooo tasty and flavourful! Great beer and wine selection. Love the Vidal Savi blanc. Definitely will be returning soon

Prices are quite high here but it's due to the location. Dog friendly.

Really enjoyed our lunch here. Service was excellent, all the bar staff really friendly. It was a traditional pub menu and everything was very tasty and arrived quickly which was great considering we were a table of 10 people.

Had a lovely time at a private party, service was quick and consistent from Valentina and she smiled the whole time it really set the mood, would absolutely come again!!

Went here today 22/04/24 at lunch for a few drinks and food, had the 3 starters for £17 and they were big and very high quality, aswell as the steak & ale pie meals we thoroughly enjoyed our visit in very pleasant quiet surroundings... in the 2 hours we had in there we were dealt with by 3 ladies who all had great people skills and made us feel very welcome... great pub

I know the whole of the hospitality sector is struggling for staff right now, but a subpar supervisors just to fill out the whole on your rota is not where you want to go. I had an awful experience with the supervisor at this location on Monday late afternoon. Let the young lady tell you herself about the exchange and don't expect her to let you speak. It's a one man monolog. Feel free to contact me for more details.

Surprisingly good pub and just next to entrance to busy tube station so I expected it would have been crowded as hell at Friday evening but we managed to find a table after visiting Nandos next door. They pour nice pint of Guinness which is not that common in London anymore, fast one too. Price is normal, 6.65, so close to devil's number. We had good time, music wasn't loud, service was attentive and you could tell they have a good team there. Not my area at all but please visit when nearby you won't be disappointed. Liked decor and painting, toilet was clean which is not a case in so many places in London. Decent, honest pub.

Don’t bother ……. We booked a table for 4pm for a roast. Specifically booked for a roast. To be told only 1 chicken left and nut roast. Disgusting. The attitude from the staff also unacceptable. Not even an apology. Did not even advised us no roast left when we arrived. Let us buy drinks without even saying no roasts. This place is a disgrace. I will keep you posted if the proprietor contacts me.

Called in for a pint after tea. Lovely old style historic pub, nice atmosphere for the time of the day, service was solid but had two pints of Peroni and both where flat.

We took my mum in for a drink for her 70th birthday today after she recently told us that she had celebrated her 18th and 21st birthdays in there. I emailed the pub yesterday telling them and just asking if I could take her upstairs so she could see the function room where she’d had her celebrations all those years ago. When we arrived, we ordered our drinks and were told that the first round was being paid for by the manager. An incredibly kind gesture that we all hugely appreciated. That’s how you get returning customers! Made my Mum‘s day! Thanks again!

We've been coming to the Pub Quiz on a Tuesday for nearly a year now. Its in the upstairs area which is a little quieter and has it's own small bar which opens during the quiz. Staff are always lovely and the quiz is great fun!

Situated adjacent to Farringdon Station, this pub is easily accessible. There's quite a good pub vibe about the place, with a varied clientele, majoring on local office workers who come here for lunch or an after work drink, but it's popular with locals and tourists as well. The Pan Roasted Hake with King Prawns which I ordered was superbly prepared but I did feel there was an ingredient missing: some greens. There were some sautéed baby potatoes but the samphire advertised turned out to be no more than just a garnish so the plate looked a bit bare and the meal lacked that balance that green vegetables would have given it. The desserts were very good - we enjoyed the Sticky Toffee Puddings, always a big favourite. There are about three cask ales on the bar, some from smaller breweries, although nothing local (from London) at the time of our visit and very expensive - at over £6 a pint, this is steep even for Central London. Staff could smile a bit more but are very efficient - indeed perhaps too efficient. Leaving the table unattended briefly, I had a glass still containing some beer taken away. Fortunately I managed to retrieve it from the bar counter, as at these prices you don't want to be losing even a small amount of your drink.

Popped in for food and a drink with friends. Two couples .. did separate orders. Ordered drinks .. then ordered food. Food arrived for couple no.1. Quick!* After 10 to 15 minutes, drinks arrived for couple no.2. Gin first then a few minutes later, the tonic. Another 5 minutes later, food arrived for couple no.2. *After more than 40 minutes, drinks for couple no.1 still hadn't arrived! And it really was not busy. Staff friendly. Food good. Service poor/shocking!

Decent place to pop in for a pint conveniently located next to Farringdon station. Nice atmosphere inside. This pub is in the Good Beer Guide and the couple of ales I had were in good condition. Service was efficient. Didn't try the food.

City pub, smartly decorated and has a great vibrant atmosphere.

I pre-booked a table for 5 at 12:45pm for the Sunday roast. I arrived at 12:20 and was pointed to my table only to find it was for another party at 13:45. I was then shown to "my" table after a group were asked to move. When the rest of my party arrived we all decided on the roast beef. My friend went to the bar to ordered. The first roast arrived promptly and I started to eat. After a few minutes my friend asked where the other 4 dinners were and was told they had only put one through. We were then told they now only had enough beef for two more dinners so now two of our party had to have chicken. Can someone please explain who you are out of beef for Sunday roast by 1pm? Gradually the rest of the food arrived. All of the food came on plates that were at best lukewarm but closer to cold. The food was all piled on top of itself so the roast potatoes were a soggy mess under a mountain of cabbage with poorly roasted carrots with gravy already poured over the whole mess. The only slight redeeming quality was that the beef wasn't over cooked, though was very fatty. My friend then ordered more drinks - but again this was a fun experience as he had to order twice because they again "only put one through". In total our group spent over £200 for which we received some of the most inattentive service I've ever had and probably the worst roast I've ever had in a pub. At no point were we offered any money off the bill for the shambolic nature of our time there.

Loved the vibe of the place, very cozy and festive. We ordered hallumi fries which we absolutely loved and nachos. The nachos were a little different from what we ususly get in other places, these were not store bought and the portion was huge. Would love to go back again.

We held a huge family Christmas Party. There were about 50 or 60 of us. With all the comings and goings it was difficult to keep track. It couldn’t have been better. The friendliest staff, speedy service at the bar, super fast food service and great quality food and drinks all day long. It was a rip-roaring success. Thanks to Jason and the Team. We had a blast!!!
