Wonderful food and lovely relaxed atmosphere. A real treat!

Dreadful place, I came in, it's a self-service type of place, you have to find a menu yourself when queue to the bar to place an order. I asked for a glass of wine that was £8 on the menu and they tried to charge me £11.90 for it. I asked why and none seemed to be able to explain, neither did they apologies. The staff behind the counter was pretty rude so I left.

Great little city pub. Nice outdoor courtyard and excellent staff. Quick service and a pleasant atmosphere. Food is simple and tasty.

My wife Lynsey and I went for afternoon tea on September 12th. Totally disappointed. Table not ready when we arrived. Had to look for somewhere to sit. No help from staff. When shown to our table everything seemed hectic, disorganised and leaderless. On reading menu noticed it had changed from our initial booking. We were not notified of this. May have cancelled if we had known this. Sat 30 minutes before we had been served tea or champagne. Some sandwiches a bit dry. Not fresh. A top up of sandwiches took ages and not by initial waiter. On initial booking form I stated I couldn't eat cucumber but had to explain this again. No alternate sandwich offered except what was on menu. Scones nice. Selection of cakes all too creamy and all on a buttery biscuit base. Selection could have been more varied. Didn't have the trifle to finish as just too much cream! Nice room. Very noisy as tables squashed together and piano playing in the background. Able to hear next tables health conditions. Lynsey didn't even get a stool for her handbag. Every other female did. All in all a very disappointing experience.

Came here for Sunday lunch. Lovely old pub with a beautiful decor and ambience. Staff were superb. Ordered Sunday roasts and they came very promptly. Our waitress, Aditi looked after us very well - nothing was too much trouble. Food was excellent - very generous portions - especially the lamb shoulder. They gave us a doggy bag to take home! This is a great discovery - and very handy for Paddington station. Will definitely be back!!

I recently visited The Hoop & Grapes and was captivated by its historic charm, being one of the few timber-framed buildings to survive the Great Fire of London. I've added it to my barguide.london site too!

The perfect place to eat well with the family. Top waiters, an exceptional boss, copious and very good dishes. The best restaurant we ate in in London by far. Have been here many times, always enjoyed it but prices rises are very high. Went to the ladies, first toilet out of order, the one I used had no toilet seat, didn't realise there were another 2. Saw bad waiting service.

Honestly avoid this hotel! You voice out concerns but nothing gets resolved. Waste of money.

Authentic atmosphere of a British history with such an interesting back story..hidden a bit but worth every mile!!

Great food! The steak was tender and juicy, the mashed potatoes were very tasty and Aruna, our waiter is simply amazing, friendly and welcoming, helpful and made our experience even greater! Definitely to repeat, and great shout out to Aruna!
