Had a wonderful dinner at Quo Vadis this evening. The food was so good: inventive and creative, but balanced and delicious as well as exciting and new. Our server, Fabian, made it a really special dinner. He looked young through my 63 year old eyes, but he was a seasoned pro. I think if what we had been looking for was structure and formality, he would have delivered. However, as this was our first time here and my wife and I have no dietary restrictions and like just about everything, we asked Fabian to work with us to assemble a sampling that would give us a taste of what Quo Vadis does best. He delivered the goods. He was warm, engaging, confident and knowledgeable. A good reminder to the owners that what separates a good meal from a great one is this level of service.

Sadly I must recommend to skip Quo Vadis. The service was friendly but disastrous. They were out of many things and kept realising it progressively as the evening went along. Drinks took 45 minutes to arrive from when we first sat down, and didn't even arrive together. Then they couldn't manage to course out our food so we ended up with too many dishes all served together that went cold before we could manage to eat them. Had to beg for the bill 3 times. For a dinner with very light drinking (1 drink per person), bill was £280. Which is a lot to spend to be badly served. The smoked eel sandwich was amazing. Get one to go and eat it on the street? Then go elsewhere.

Quo Vadis has evolved from French food cuisine into an Italian influenced menu. The food is excellent; the restaurant is wonderful for friends and families. The restaurant has a beautiful look that is pleasing for all customers. Quo Vadis easy to find. We loved Quo Vadis, it's a wonderful place for couples to dine. By the way, there is a wide choice of wine for diners.

Imagine refined British cuisine in a quiet place in Central London. I was surprised at how elegant this restaurant was despite its location. Outside, the restaurant is quite loud and lively from the neighbouring bars, but inside the restaurant, it feels like you've popped yourself over to Mayfair. The first thing I noticed was how decorative the menu is. They have a variety of options for all diets. We chose a mixture of fish and meat. Their seafood was delicious. The meats were seasoned well, but the smoked eel sandwich was my favorite. Overall, it's a high-quality London restaurant. All the dishes were up to par, but I didn't quite find anything that would urge me to come back quickly.

Old school legendary place with hearty food, some modern takes on traditional British food, with an extensive (and not cheap) wine list. Food was top notch, loved the pie of the day (game). Service was good but not exceptional, for example when we went to the loo between courses they brought out the next course and left it on the table rather than waiting till we were both sat down. Sommelier was very knowledgeable.

Elitist, exclusive, arrogant, full of Boris Johnson types etc, basically everything I hate in a restaurant BUT its still worth a visit for the experience and the food which is pretty decent modern British.

The new refurb seems to have done away with the stained glass windows which is a shame. There is much more space though and it’s very comfortable, just lacks some of the old character. Serving staff were uniformly excellent and pleasant. Chef even shook hands! The main problem is that the two hour turnaround for tables is too short to enjoy a relaxed meal. We arrived 20 mins early but were reminded several times that the table was needed back. No time for coffees and liquors! Food was tasty and most enjoyable without any fiddly fine dining pretensions. If only we’d had longer to eat it!

Conveniently located in Soho, this place is a great find if you fancy Modern British cuisine. We tried a few starters, and they are all very good. We had pie and skate for the main course they were a bit underwhelming. The pie crust came a tad too hard. I appreciate the generous portion of the capers that came with the skate, but the fish was pretty much soaked in the oil. Overall good experience though.

Pretty average. Food was ok, nothing exciting. Service was poor, they seemed to lack enough staff so everything took longer than it should have done. The private members bar lacked any sort of atmosphere and when we were there had only one person making and serving the drinks so only managed to have one cocktail in an hour

I have been twice now and been disappointed on both occasions by various elements of the food. The eel sandwich is great but be warned, it’s extremely peppery. I also really love the pistachio cake with rhubarb, this is the best dessert they do. However, it goes downhill from here… The first time I visited I ordered the cured cod, courgette and salmoriglio. It was extremely bland. This week I went with a friend to order all of the puddings and try the legendary sticky toffee pudding. As someone who lives and dream by sticky toffee, I was expecting great things from Quo Vadis, especially considering I have heard it’s one of the best in London but I left truly heartbroken. I judge a sticky toffee pudding as it is, and therefore asked for the cream and custard on the side but when it arrived there was NO toffee sauce?! It was so dry. Yes, I am sure people will say but that’s what the custard is for but custard is not sticky toffee pudding. They are too separate things and I didn’t have the heart to tell our sweet waitress how upset I was. I will admit that the custard is good though, so that’s something at least. Also, the sorbet was absolutely fantastic and is definitely the superior dessert on the menu. Lastly, I have to share my disappointment in the trifle which had a very strange flavour that neither my friend nor I could place. An odd bitter after taste and excessive amount of custard and cream. I love Jeremy Lee and will continue to admire him from afar on instagram but I do not think I’ll return to Quo Vadis. It’s expensive and has let me down on both occasions. The staff are very sweet and it’s not their fault at all, the food just hasn’t met my expectations.

Really average restaurant, not made to feel welcome in any way. Service strange would be the word to use. Starters - mine was pear, Stilton, bitter leaves etc was very nice. My husbands goose rillettes seemed off? Mains we both chose Chicken pie which was ok. Felt like we were wading through thick porridge and eventually we had to give up as it became inedible. Decided against a desert as preferred to leave. Not the best experience and very sad as we had both looked forward to visiting this restaurant.

A group of us went in November and all ended up ill. The common denominator was the oysters, though Quo Vadis denied any responsibility. Fair enough and they were good enough to offer a complimentary meal up to £150 (original cost was in excess of £500). I went with my husband for said complimentary meal and we were rushed from the very beginning. We’d not even been there an hour and a half and were told they’d need our table back before the stipulated two hours. What a weird experience when they were supposedly trying to make us feel welcome. Sorry, I just don’t get this place. I was a returning customer after numerous visits following a bout of food poisoning - though they accepted no responsibility - and made to feel like a bloody nuisance. The lack of customer care/service is an absolute joke. Owner Jeremy Lee may be a celebrity chef but these places seem to rely on their reputation when maybe they need to take care of the people coming through the doors. I won’t be back.

Visited for dinner a week ago. Not the best table in the house, but had a great experience. Lily, our waitress was engaging & professional. I had the smoked eel sandwich to start with; & it certainly deserves all the praise & accolades it has received. Smoked eel in Britain usually only appears in Tasting menus as a small component. At QV it is a substantial portion, served warm on sourdough toast, with lightly pickled red onions & horseradish cream. My main was hake with parsley mash - another winner! My wife had the chicken pie which was superb & plentiful, with a crispy short crust pastry topping & lots of chicken in a delightful light creamy sauce. Sorry, with such superb & tasty savoury courses, no room for pudding. But, who knows - next time.... Barrie & Julie

We had a fabulous dinner for 3. I’ve seen a couple of recent negative comments about the service but our welcome and table service couldn’t have been friendlier or more professional and knowledgeable. We liked the decor and had a great table by the window. All the food we had was excellent. I enjoyed the eel sandwich. Having previously only eaten smoked eel cold, having it served warm was a revelation in terms of taste. My two companions raved about the pepper and fennel sirloin beef salad with tomato, fennel and celery, and a lot of freshly grated horseradish. The chicken veloute pie was fantastic and great value at £22.50. Definitely one of the best pies we had ever tasted. The crust was crisp and crunchy and the pie was packed with chicken pieces. For desserts we had a delicious sticky toffee pudding and two lovely ile flottante. All portions were generous other than a small side of greens. There is an extensive wine list with similar prices to most London restaurants of this quality. We would definitely return and have recommended it to others.

I'm sad to write this but we didn't have a great lunch and had been so looking forward to it. My husband took me for my birthday. First off, the restaurant was freezing cold so not a nice environment. It was a cold day so we kinda forgave it. Ordered Oysters then each a starter and a main. My starter arrived along with the oysters so we thought that was odd but when my husbands starter didn't arrive it was clear they thought the oysters were his starter and had forgotten his actual one so a quick apology and he got it. Artichoke and anchovy salad, good god it was disgusting - swimming in olive oil. I told him to return it but he was too polite and hungry by this point. The mains were just okay, I had pheasant which I understand is small but I did eat more plums and prunes than anything else. My husband had the pork which he said was, again, okay. Dessert was delicious - shared a sticky toffee pudding. Our wine was also very good and the sommelier was excellent, shame the waiter didn't know about wine and tipped the rest of the bottle into my glass along with all the sediment. The bill was eye watering. Not a great experience, sadly won't be back and have already told people to save their money. Sorry!

The team were wonderfully attentive in just the right way, knowledgeable and added to the whole experience. As for the food, it was utterly delicious, it's hard to mention standouts but the soup of the day, goose rillettes, hake and seafood vol-au-vent were standouts. The desserts are delicious too but we were glad to share them having indulged so happily over the starters and mains! The white wine we had to accompany the meal was delicious also. Very disappointing dining experience. Service and atmosphere fine but the food was huge let down . Having read reviews my friend and I ordered the Pie- chicken in sauce. The crust was very overcooked, the sauce tasteless and the chicken bit stringy. Final point was irritation at being reminded no less than 4 times that the table had to be vacated promptly. I dine at various restaurants in SoHo for business and pleasure and have to say this has been one of the least enjoyable. Won’t be returning. PS would add that both my friend and I realised we had slightly gippy stomachs the next day …..

Excellent Soho restaurant run by the brilliant chef Jeremy Lee who was previously at the Blueprint Cafe in the Design Museum when it was on the Southbank. We had two starters - peppered venison with pickled prunes and puntarelle with anchovies - which were both great. We followed these with two main courses - fegato alla Veneziana (calves liver with onions!) and a cannelloni dish with cheese, pumpkin and chard - which were also terrific. We accompanied the food with four glasses of very good wine. Very friendly and helpful staff.

Style and Character: Quo Vadis recently underwent refurbishment, and the updated aesthetic is pleasing. The red sofas in the dining area provide a structural elegance, although there is a slight issue with draftiness at the table next to the stairs. Food and Drinks: The food and drinks are a delightful blend of seasonal and British offerings. I had the pleasure of trying their December pie with turkey, and it was excellent. Service: The service was noteworthy, with our waiter displaying a high level of professionalism. Despite opting for a three-course meal, we found ourselves in a bit of a rush after dinner due to the need to vacate the table for the second seating. In summary, the overall experience at Quo Vadis was good, and I would recommend it. While the drafty table and the slight rush were minor inconveniences, they do not detract from the positive aspects of the visit. Given the commendable service, I see no reason to deduct a star for these issues.

We arrived bang on time for a pre theatre dinner midweek. As we walked through the front door two members of staff pushed past us with not a thank you as we held the door open for them...seemed at odds with the level of service we were expecting. We were greeted at the front desk by a frankly supercilious front of house wearing a cravat...he took our coats, gave us a tag and showed us into the dining room. Once shown our table in an room empty other than one other couple, we asked to be seated at a table that wasn't next to theirs and the same 'cravated chap' told us, for some inexplicable reason (that I've never before heard in 30+ adult years of fine dining), that it wouldn't be possible...whatever happened to service and the concept of the customer always being right? Of course our table stay were attentive and thoughtful and the food every bit as good as we had expected. As we left 75 minutes later on the way to the theatre we speed at the front desk to collect it coats with 'tag' in hand only to be angered at one more by the cravat wearing fella and to be asked what we wanted...weirdly unaware of what his job was and particularly strange considering he'd only take our coats a short while before, I was holding the tag towards him and the were only half a dozen other diners in the place. Was the food great? Yes indeed. Were the waiting stay attentive? Again, yes. Would I return? Not so sure...perhaps when Gieves stop selling cravats...

Quo Vadis Private Dining I booked a private room for a dinner to celebrate my 60th in September 23. 15 minutes after we arrived the DJ in the private room next door started playing very loud music. As a result we were unable to talk across the table, unable to hear the playlist my friend had created for the evening and I had to spend time dealing with the Quo Vadis team instead of enjoying my celebrations. The duty manager took steps to try and improve the situation but was unwilling to do the one thing that would have helped - turn down the music next door to a sensible level. There was insufficient staff in the 15-minute window my guests arrived and serving plates that were not heated so a number of us ate cold steak. The approach to presentation can only be described as cafeteria-like, certainly not the promised Feast. I should say that the quality of the food was good. A sensible discount was negotiated after a laughably unacceptable initial offer from the head of events at the Hart Group. Sadly I cannot rerun my 60th birthday celebration.

Traditional British food, but despite the white tablecloth and price it doesn't elevate itself beyond the average gastro pub. Dishes were too salty and not imaginative (vs a pub). The Haddock on beans was steamed with the skin still on which meant there wasn't much flavour. The pie was far too salty and consist of a Boeuf bourguignon which anyone could make at home. The meringue was alright but too chewy. If this was a £50 evening I would have liked it but £95 without starters and 1 drink is far too steep. On top the staff are adorable students which is fine for a cooking academy restaurant but not for this price level. There are many better place for this amount.

A perfectly fine glob artichoke (£14.50) was ok as were the crostini (£8) but it was downhill from there. My rabbit with mustard (£38.50!) was chewy and bland and I had to return it. I was persuaded to order the smoked eel sandwich (£14), which was greasy and strangely textured. The potato salad (£6.50)order on the side was weirdly sweet. All would have done with seasoning, as would the rabbit and chicken pie (£22.50) and the potato side. With a couple of glasses of admittedly very good wine the bill came to £144. After I had had to send back the main course service magically disappeared and no one bothered to clear our table. We had had to ask to order more wine earlier. Frankly, I was incredibly disappointed by the food and our treatment at Quo Vadis. I even apologised for ‘making a fuss’ (which I didn’t). I got the feeling that the place is on its last legs. I couldn’t recommend it at all really.

I've read some distinctly mixed reviews of QV so was very curious as to what QV we'd get. Bad serbice, bad food? Happy to report it was a wonderful experience. Very well cooked unpretentious food. From the opening cocktail through to the wine and the pud. The service was charming and relentlessly there when you needed it and absent when you didn't. I'd particularly give a huge shout out for the polenta dish.

firstly lets talk about Lily my hostess...second time with her serving and she made the visit the most special thing, attention, service and memorable experience! we felt like it was a wraparound hug of service, and the food to complement was the freshest most seasonal accompaniment, which tasted utterly delicious. A beetroot borscht gelatinous unigue and stunningly fresh. Every course, seasonal and unique. Cocktails on point. Altogether the most special of lunches that leaves me wanting to return....and, did i mention the most amazing service from Lily!!!

The former Queen of Dean St still occupies a space in the ultra competitive London dining scene in 2023, but one more uncertain than when it first opened its doors. Where once, in its heyday, the dining room impressed with scale and decor, it’s now truncated in favour of providing floor space to the much buzzier Barrafina next door. The food is still excellent but the service on the night we visited was a little hit and miss and not up to the standard of somewhere charging up to £40 for a main.

What an exceptional place? Wonderful atmosphere. Super artistic & authentic interiors. The cocktails were divine & the best salad niçoise I’ve ever had. My partner and I worked quietly here Friday day & had a wonderful experience. Returned on Saturday & the bar tender curated our own special drinks to our specific requirements. Great wine selection& invited friends to join us who enjoyed it just as much as us. Bravo. Can’t wait to try the other delights on Jeremy’s menu

Wonderful lunch experience from the moment we arrived until we left and I didn't want to leave at all. Aperitifs of Garibaldi and Negroni slid down nicely while we chose our food - salt duck with pickled gooseberries and blackcurrants was irresistible though I shared it with my husband - I could eat those pickled berries forever. Then the pie for him with a glass of albarino and the pork fillet with polenta and asparagus with a glass of rosé for me. Our waiter recommended a salad to have with the pie and that went down very well too. I couldn't leave a dessert uneaten so what better than the one at the top of the menu, apricot and pistachio meringue with fig leaf custard and cream, to rhyme with dream because it was a dream of a dessert, sprinkled with toasted seeds which meant the balance between sweet and slightly savoury was perfection. Even I couldn't argue it wasn't the ideal size for sharing with the one who supposedly didn't want dessert! There was a nice buzz about the room on a Friday lunchtime which contributed to the ambiance but, apart from the amazing food, our waiter really made the experience. He was warm and welcoming and just the right amount of friendly and attentive for our liking and the team was there as back up when he was busy with other tables. Thank you to everyone, we had a fabulous time and hope to be back.

Nice new interior. Wobbly table….fixed with a napkin stuffed underneath. Staff being trained how to lay a table cloth next to us as we ate one side, the other side a random guy joined a table for two so suddenly we felt like a table for five! Food ok, very nice eel sandwich, the pie of the day…..if that is what they are famous for don’t bother. The tarte dessert was lovely. Great negronis. Been, probably don’t need to go back. Very average.

Overall wonderful experience. Would go back. The mackerel with pickled rhubarb and freshly made horseradish sauce was a dream. The starter of artichokes and fennel - somewhat meh. And the main course of porchetta (served cold) is mis-categorized - the porchetta is wonderful but with all the capers, and the anchovies and the sauce - the flavors are so strong and so salty (wonderfully so), the dish should be divided in half and served as a starter. Not a main course dish at all. Despite these drawbacks the meal was wonderful and we would go back!

Very good food and decent wine. Excellent service from personable and efficient staff. Prices are fair for central London. No schmaltzy muzak. Unfortunately however, the dominant sound instead is that of the dishwasher being continuously unloaded and reloaded, appliances bleeping and staff chatting in the service area directly adjacent to the dining room. All in all, despite the good stuff, something has been lost in the refurbishment and it's not a very relaxing or buzzy environment.

I was fortunate to come to London for a holiday when Quo Vadis had finally opened after going through a renovation. My previous experience with eel has been in the form of sushi (which can sometimes has an oily taste) so this piquant version was a delicious surprise. The meaty pieces of smoked eel, smothered in fiery horseradish cream and Dijon mustard almost overwhelm the dish. But the sourdough bread pulled it together for me. Is the pickled onion a touch too much given the strong flavors of horseradish cream and Dijon? Perhaps, but I thoroughly enjoyed this delightful eel sandwich. The pie of the day was chicken with white sauce. The lovely crust with the creamy and satisfying filling were a perfect match. It was hearty and perfect for the rather dreary April weather. Loved this restaurant!
