I enjoyed the food, but the service was bizarre. A waiter came over twice, visibly panicked, to move my Earl Grey tea cup back onto the saucer. I was left wondering—had I committed the cardinal sin of placing my cup directly on the table? It was uncomfortable and awkward, and I genuinely didn’t understand the fuss. Hospitality is about making guests feel at ease, not policing their every move. Sadly, the odd and condescending behavior has put me off. I won’t be returning.

One of the loveliest places to dine in London. Karl Marx wrote part of Das Kapital in the rooms upstairs and Marco Pierre White used to own the restaurant. So in addition to a wonderful meal, you get to enjoy your time in a site of unique history. Service was truly excellent here. Knowledgeable servers who do their best to accommodate whatever requests. The cod with sea veg (hake was unavailable when we went) is delicious. As are the daily pies (lamb and bacon). As most guides on Quo Vadis will attest, the smoked eel sandwich is a must get, that remains true for my visit. Cuttlefish salad was lovely as well and the "les ov profiteroles au chocolat", which is a cream puff pastry with ice cream instead of cream and a dark chocolate sauce is delightful. Delicious meal, exceptional service, and a bit of history. What else could I ask for?

I came here because it was highly rated, but was disappointed. I ordered the sweetbreads, chicken pie, rabbit and chips. Everything was underwhelming and undersalted. Overall it felt very overpriced for the flavour. The pie of the day changed from chicken to beef half way through the service, which was disappointing because I would have preferred beef. The drinks took so long that the waitress gave them to us for free, they arrived after the starters. When I said I was ready to order the food, the waitress signed, which was an odd reaction. None of the staff said goodbye to us when we left, which was also odd. Overall, it was a relatively bad experience and I wouldn't recommend.

I've wanted to go to this place for years but somehow never got round to it. Got treated to a birthday lunch today.. It certainly didn't dissapoint! Exactly what I was hoping for. Simple, classic elegant dishes perfectly executed with great ingredients and flavour. Great service, relaxed atmosphere. Can't remember the last time I saw whole globe Artichoke with mustard vinigerette on a menu. The rabbit broth was also brilliant. I saw a few tables having the pies which looked great but it was such a hot day we opted for some lighter options. Will definatley be back! Thanks for a great bday lunch!

I had to walk to the kitchen to ask for a glass of wine and again for service . Menus left on the table with a be back in a moment comment . 10 mins later. No sign of anyone. . Food was truly bland. And hot kohlrabi was really vile. The place was quiet. Perhaps understandably. I had to post this.

What a disappointing evening. Had been so looking forward to eating at the iconic Jeremy Lee’s restaurant in Dean Street but ended up feeling like a naughty school girl! The food was so delicious until I had some slightly under cooked cod - it had mostly been lovely and flaky but was a bit gelatinous, sinewy and undercooked in the middle, and I had left this bit on my plate. It was no big deal and I explained this when they cleared the table. I hadn’t asked for a refund or said I wouldn’t pay, however, I was startled some time later to be reacquainted with my leftovers by a server trying to explain that this is apparently how the chef chooses to cook his fish. My uneaten food had been brought back out of the kitchen for all to see like I was some naughty school girl who hadn’t finished her dinner! The server continued to explain until I was left saying how uncomfortable he was making me feel. They said they wouldn’t charge for the dish and would we like to go for a free drink in the members’ bar - no thanks! Really don’t expect to be grilled like that in any restaurant but was so disappointed to feel like this here. Must just say, the chicken pie is to die for though and our original server was an absolute peach! 😅

Lamentablemente, no volveré.

What a great restaurant! My wife and I visited while in London, and found the food, decor, and ambience just perfect for a comfortable, romantic night out. As others have mentioned, we loved the smoked eel sandwich as an appetizer. I tried the pheasant, having never had it before, with pomme frites and found it to be very flavorful, though slightly dry. It was enhanced with red cabbage and a bitter lettuce, an unusual, surprising melange--but it worked wonderfully and was delicious. My wife tried the chicken pie with mashed potatoes: both excellent. The chicken pastry was very thin, but perfectly cooked. The flavor of the mash was enhanced with swede (rutabaga), pumpkin, and herbs, and we both really liked the flavor. Desert consisted of a delicious almond tart with custard, ice cream and cream, while profiteroles came filled with vanilla ice cream which added a suitably sweet ending to our meal. My only caveat is that I prefer chilled whipped cream rather than ice cream in my profiteroles. The food portions were generous, and we were both replete at the end of the meal. Service was excellent from everyone we met. I found it good value for money considering the overall experience. We were lucky to meet and chat with Chef Jeremy Lee while there (your Texas friends). He was warm and friendly to us, cordially answering our questions. We have his cookbook which is very well written and photographed. We'll definitely return on our next visit to try more of his inventive dishes.

Every single dish we had was perfect starting with the bread - wonderful sourdough with a perfect crust. Bread as bread should be. The starters, puntarelle with anchovies and the signature dish, the smoked eel sandwich were something to remember, pure, simple, only focussing on the taste and texture. Good food needs nothing more. The main courses, fegato and the pie of the day (turkey and bacon) could not have been better. There is nothing to add, honest dishes with best ingredients balanced in the best way The same with the desserts, buttermilk pudding and blood orange sorbet - a wonderful finish for a wonderful meal. Went there as two couples on a Saturday night. The place is very pretty but the service was not fantastic. They also did not have 2 of the mains which one of them was a pasta so I don't how can you run out of pasta. The food was alright, not great. I find the whole experience on par with general Soho House vibes, overrated, overpriced and underwhelming. Also because the restaurant is under their bar, there's constant vibrations and sounds coming from over your head. It was a let down unfortunately.

Interesting restaurant with some nice dishes but left feeling it was missing the X factor. Perhaps i don’t appreciate fine British cuisine as much. I had the smoked eel sandwich which they are seemingly well known for. It was very tasty and quite unique. For main I had the hake which was very good too. Perhaps the service impacted our experience as we waited a long time to order and to receive food. We also felt the service was quite basic and not worth the 13% service charge they add. We paid 152£ for two courses each and a cheap bottle of wine which felt quite expensive. As much as we enjoyed the food, we would probably not come back as it lacked a wow factor. PS: restaurant feels pretty anti-vegan, not much plant based dishes.

The short crust pastry on the pie was delicious and inside it was filled with chicken. The pomme frites were also top notch. Work lunch for four. Overall, excellent experience, with warm welcome, friendly staff, good food - well presented, comfortable and stylish decor. One minor point: staff could be more attentive about who ordered what. We had several occasions where drinks and food were given to the wrong people, including a fish dish to a vegetarian.

As with many, Quo Vadis was on the list for a long time and we eventually booked for a special occasion. Unfortunately we were incredibly disappointed and it did not live up to the hype. We got the pork terrine which was more like parsley terrine with some pork. There was far too much parsley. The pie was nice but the sauce was incredibly watery and would have preferred a thicker sauce. The sides were also disappointing with the potato and pea salad having far too much mustard. Also to note our waitress was really brusk, she rolled her eyes when we said we had a voucher and got annoyed that we had spilled some food on the table. It was incredibly awkward. All in all I have to say it was quite a disappointing experience and unfortunately won't be recommending to friends and family.

A meal of delights! Salads Nicoise as it should be made with lovely brown anchovies, thin French beans, double peeled broad beans, lettuce and the most wonderful peeled tomatoes. Then rabbit cooked as a riff on saltimbocca, cooked with sage and lardo, served with tomatoes, basil and courgettes. I don’t often eating pudding - but the pistachio cake with apricots was a delight. What a blissful meal - fantastic ingredients cooked with love and helpful service. The Albariño was good too! I want to go back.

Our lunch waitress — blonde, English — was extraordinary. Charming, engaging, intelligent, charismatic. Couldn't be bettered. Food was elegantly presented and perfectly simple. No pretension and plenty of rigour. All in all, delightful. The price was right.

This place had been on the list for a while. We went for a lunch on the weekend, booked on the day. The restaurant is beautifully fitted, and spacious enough you don’t feel too close to your fellow diners. The eel sandwich was delicious, as well as the salted trout. Their martini menu was also interesting, offering a few variations on the classics. Very friendly and prompt service. Would happily go again!

We arrived at this longstanding institution after a some fantastic jazz nearby. The restaurant decor seemed welcoming with its bright colours and the staff were very friendly in showing us to our table for 6. The place felt relaxed but with a pleasant hubbub of conversation as a background. The menu had an odd mix of things on it but I chose the much recommended smoked eel sandwich starter and pie of the day (chicken), both were really excellent. Some of others were cheekily served vegetable soup instead of the fish soup ordered (as they had run out). The head waiter smoothed this over by apologising graciously (as he should have done!) and refusing to charge for starters. None of this mattered we all had a great time and left feeling happy.

All I can say is WOW!! Very impressed by the food. Everyone needs to have the smoked eel sandwich. I had the hanger steak and it was perfect in every way. I still think of that peppercorn crust. Pricey but worth it!

Good meal. The recommendations for the eel sandwich is justified. It is very good. Really like the bourride hake with mussels.

Overpriced, some style but little substance. £23 for a ‘pie’ that was a dish with overcooked pastry top. And the price didn’t include sides. Service not of the quality to justify the price either, ordered a bottle of chenin, then over 5 minutes later the waitress came back saying she’d forgotten what wine we’d ordered.

We had a private room for a company event and we had excellent service. Food was superb, especially the dessert. Amazing location too to go out for drinks after. Highly recommended.

Well...we are local but have not been for 2 years after a series of disasters. But tonight we re-tried and were rewarded with an excellent evening. Absolutely charming and genuine French maitre d looked after us flawlessly. The food was EXCELLENT! It's a great feeling when your local restaurant delivers. ..my friends were from Fulham and Putney and they were very impressed.
