My wife Lynsey and I went for afternoon tea on September 12th. Totally disappointed. Table not ready when we arrived. Had to look for somewhere to sit. No help from staff. When shown to our table everything seemed hectic, disorganised and leaderless. On reading menu noticed it had changed from our initial booking. We were not notified of this. May have cancelled if we had known this. Sat 30 minutes before we had been served tea or champagne. Some sandwiches a bit dry. Not fresh. A top up of sandwiches took ages and not by initial waiter. On initial booking form I stated I couldn't eat cucumber but had to explain this again. No alternate sandwich offered except what was on menu. Scones nice. Selection of cakes all too creamy and all on a buttery biscuit base. Selection could have been more varied. Didn't have the trifle to finish as just too much cream! Nice room. Very noisy as tables squashed together and piano playing in the background. Able to hear next tables health conditions. Lynsey didn't even get a stool for her handbag. Every other female did. All in all a very disappointing experience.

As an afternoon tea enthusiast, I always like to try a new one every time I travel and the Afternoon Tea at the Langham was among my all-time favourites. My positive experience started before arrival when I reached out to the staff with some dietary restrictions - they were both kind and helpful. The venue is elegant, and the table setting sophisticated yet subtle. We started out with bubbles, and I was pleasantly surprised that they had a delicious non-alcoholic version as my jet lag had me rethinking real champagne. The selection of tea is modest but excellent, a choice for every type of tea drinker - and impressively, you can try as many as you like. I tried the Phoenix Honey Orchid and the Lavender, Camomile, and Lemongrass. As usual finger sandwiches were first, and even though I am GF & DF, they looked almost identical to the standard version….so much so we had to double check, the vegan cream cheese was so spot on. Also impressively, the staff came around several times with a tray of sandwiches for guests to enjoy more - our favourite was the smoke salmon. Next was the sweats course, which if you’re from North America like me, you might be expecting scones. The sweets were also delicious and almost visually identical to the standard, my favourite being the apple cake with maple. Last was the scones, and to my delight they had a vegan version of Devonshire cream that tasted almost like a custard. With this course you also get a pear trifle - not my favourite fruit but delicious non-the-less and the chocolate cake with mousse at the bottom was a tasty surprise. This was an exceptional experience and I have to strain to think of a negative - I think that would be after the sweets course was served, the service was much slower. Typical tea is 2hrs or so, ours latest 3.5hrs. With great conversation, you hardly notice, but be prepared for a leisurely day - if you have theatre tickets, book earlier. Pro tip: skip lunch and plan on a light dinner, this Afternoon Tea is plentiful and filling! Hats off to the Langham for living up to their excellent reputation.

Awful service and staff. The moment we sat down, our waitress asked if we were celebrating anything and if we wanted to add champagne for our afternoon tea. we mentioned the afternoon tea voucher was a wedding gift as we just got married (so yes, we were celebrating and champagne was a yes - we knew we had one glass each included in our voucher). When I clarified (very politely) that the champagne should not be an additional charge, the waitress turned cocky and condescending, insisting we did not listen when she explained that champagne is added on top and not included - she was upset as she had already poured the glasses. We asked if she could check the voucher (which was taken from us at the front door). She came back to explain "you don't have to worry about the champagne it's included and you don't have to pay service charge if you don't want to " - this left us utterly confused - we were there to celebrate, we were in good spirits, we were friendly and polite throughout, we did not want anything to ruin our experience, and we did not understand why she was upset and bringing up service charge when the meal had not commenced. Sadly the service did not pick up from this point, it was as though she was avoiding our table intentionally (as she gave up on getting any service charge out of us - even though we had only responded to her suggestion with a smile). This avoidance made it difficult and as she was the assigned server. We went long periods with empty plates and tea pots, we had to ask 2-3 times for tea refills before getting any. Interestingly, the staff were handing out desserts with "congratulations" written on chocolate slabs to the tables all around us ( as lots of people were celebrating various occasions) but left us out of this. Overall the service was dismal and awkward and we were happy to leave. As per her suggestion, we decided not to leave a service charge, to which the waitress who brought the check was instantly visibly upset . We suggested she check in with our main server and left. Putting service aside, the food was average at best. Sandwiches were lacklustre - I've been to afternoon teas that were half the price with much tastier options. Too many desserts here were cream, mousse and berry based, and tasted very similar. The teas seemed to be of a decent standard.

I had high expectations for this afternoon tea, but unfortunately, the experience was quite disappointing. While the venue is beautiful and located in a great area, the atmosphere was far from relaxing. I’ve enjoyed afternoon tea at other places where the experience felt serene and unhurried, but this was the complete opposite. The waitstaff were constantly checking in, bringing food, and asking if we were ready for the next course, which made it difficult to just sit back and enjoy the moment. It felt rushed and overwhelming, rather than the peaceful and indulgent experience I was hoping for. Additionally, the seating arrangement placed us in the middle of a noisy crowd, with loud voices and piano music that didn’t blend well together. What added to the disappointment was the lack of a dress code, which detracted from the elegant atmosphere I’d expected. While I appreciate the efforts of the staff who were just doing their job, the constant interruptions and chaotic environment made it the worst afternoon tea experience I’ve had. I wouldn’t return or recommend this place. Afternoon tea should be about relaxing, enjoying good conversation, and savoring the food at your own pace—none of which was possible here. I didn’t take any pictures during my visit, simply because I wasn’t in the mood. The atmosphere just didn’t inspire me to capture any memories, and I was ready to leave. Unfortunately, there are no photos from this experience, as the environment just wasn’t right for it.

I highly enjoyed my afternoon tea at The Langham Hotel! I am gluten free, as was my guest, and felt all of the safety needs of our dietary requirements were met. We were able to fully enjoy delicious alternatives to the sandwiches, scones, treats, and tea cakes. There was a savoury scone option (cheddar scones with a tomato chutney) that was so outstanding I got three refills! As well, the patisseries were superb AND there was an extra after tea cheesecake that was fabulous! The scones were good, but preference wise, I would have preferred them to be fluffier. As for the room itself, a lavish setting with attentive and courteous waiters created a welcoming environment. I really appreciate the live music! Overall, this was a fabulous experience. I go to a lot of high-end afternoon teas in London, and I would say this one ranks amongst the best. If you prioritize desserts and unique twists (the savoury scones!) then this is definitely where you want to go! Note: Unlimited free refills!

I really didn't want to leave a negative review, but I thought it had to be written. Where do I begin, I booked afternoon tea for my husbands 40th along with our 2 kids which was an appalling experience. Having spent £220 (which will not happen again in the near future) I expected more especially with the service. We've been dining here twice a year for nearly 6 years. The service has gone down hill tremendously. You have to repeat yourself 2-3x especially with drinks. Nobody acknowledged my husbands birthday which lead me to complain to the manager. They got back to me inviting us back again for afternoon tea (3 weeks later). As we arrived today, I was shocked, the whole menu has changed for the worst. The sandwiches were awful, and half the size, the humongous trifle that was placed in front of us was a big no. I don't understand how 4 people were supposed to share it with no spoons? We were told "no orange juice" but when we spoke to a manager, they managed to bring some from another department, why didn't the first waitress go the extra mile to do that? Absolutely useless, we complained the first time because of waiting times with drinks, twice we waited 20-30 minutes for juices for my kids. It's not acceptable to keep having to re-ask for things. Sadly, I know it was good gesture to have us back, but we will be finding a new spot for afternoon tea in the future.

We booked for lunch in the Palm court. On arrival our table was not ready and we were offered a table that needed to be cleaned and set again, because of this we had to wait to be seated. I booked to enjoy the lunch menu because when making the reservation online it clearly states afternoon tea and lunch menu can be ordered, however the lunch menu was not offered to us when seated, we had to ask for it. Even though i could see a separate table that had food from the lunch menu served to them during the same service. I ordered one of there specialty teas however this arrived after my lunch arrived and I had to query this with a staff member where my drink was. We were not checked on throughout our reservation and were treated almost like a walk in booking. Even though the booking has been made for several weeks. We were not offered a dessert menu, or tea or coffees after our meal. For 5 star service I was really disappointed and on reflection have realised the experience was really poor. If you are looking for 5 star service then the Langham on this occasion did not offer it. The experience did not match the price tag.

Booked a dairy free afternoon tea, they double check your requirements when you get there so make sure to say then as well. The atmosphere was great, the piano in the background and the decor was beautiful & elegant. The staff were extremely friendly. The food was amazing, my favourite aspect was that they adjusted the menu for dairy free rather than just giving vegan options. I myself don't like tea (this was a present for someone else) so they were kind enough to offer me hot chocolate. The dairy free food was great, best dairy free desserts we've had and the coronation chicken & beetroot were very tasty. The price is worth the experience (when comparing other afternoon teas we have gone to). We were very full and couldn't finish the last trifle, you can take dry food like scones or patisseries for take out! Note: For anyone wondering the champagne that is offered at the start is not free, which they have mentioned the menu and the person who did have tea did enjoy it.

I was eagerly anticipating my first-ever afternoon tea at your establishment, hoping for a luxurious and memorable experience. Unfortunately, my visit fell far short of those expectations. The service was extremely disappointing. The servers were not attentive; each time we needed something, we had to "catch" their attention, often resorting to almost yelling from our seats. This left us waiting helplessly for several minutes each time. Additionally, we had to request the check three times before it was finally brought to us. This level of service is far from acceptable. As for the food, it was underwhelming. The clotted cream tasted slightly sour, and the sandwiches were bland and lacked flavor. A dessert that didn't involve mousse or cream would have provided a welcome variation. On a positive note, the pianist provided a lovely ambiance, and the cocktails were enjoyable. The interior decor is also quite nice. However, overall, I am deeply disappointed with my experience and do not feel it was worth the price. I regret to say that I will not be returning.

Unfortunately had to cancel the afternoon experience here due to being inconsiderate of my husband's severe dietary restrictions related to an automune disease... Hostess was insistent that all guests have to be served afternoon tea despite the fact that my husband can't eat anything on the menu. Rather than complicating things for the kitchen, he thought best to only treat me here for the afternoon tea experience as an anniversary gift. We called today to explain the situation of my husband's restrictive diet, only to be told that all guests MUST dine. Ended up canceling the booking and reserving with Winter Garden for Afternoon tea at the Landmark Hotel who made an exception for my husband's case of not being able to dine. When it comes to accommodating health conditions and requirements, Langham falls short.

Spectacular start to finish. The atmosphere is lovely and quite welcoming. We had afternoon tea (including children's tea) and were impressed by the flavors of the sandwiches (spicy chicken doesn't often make an appearance in afternoon tea, but was a delight). Unreal experience from start to finish. The handbag stands at the start, we knew this was going to be a special one. Adursh (not sure on spelling) was amazing and made us feel very welcome and made sure we had everything we needed throughout the afternoon tea and explaining the menus in detail. I booked this afternoon for the reimagined custard cream, which wasn’t on the menu, but we put a cheeky message on the booking saying can it be on the menu and a joke about it when we sat down. To my surprise… they bought us out one each! No other table had this and it really made us feel very special! We will be back!

A group of four of us visited the good front room before it closed at the Langham. The food was amazing!! 10/10. However, the Maître d'hôtel was very obnoxious and borderline racist. He went on to express that he was happy that the clientèle would be changing following the close of the good front room. Left a bad after taste to say the least. We were so excited and the food was lovely. Scott was polite and took great care of us. However, being blatantly ignored by everyone else even when they saw us looking around for Scott felt very uncomfortable. In particular, a lady on the staff saw us wave at her multiple times while Scott was nowhere to be seen and outright ignored us. Not a good look and for all excitement about the afternoon, we left feeling rather disheartened. This is no way to treat guests. Considering we are ladies of color, the optics are even worse. I walked away wondering what the attitude was about and despite all that went well, will not be coming back or recommending that friends do.

The room is very crowded - our table was touch the back of the seats of the table in front of us. It was not good or a nice seating area. The service was very curt and unfriendly from our waitress. It was very perfunctory. The food was ok but nothing special and certainly not worth £80. The scones were tiny and the cake slices were for a child. A divine, fancy, delicious afternoon tea. But, if you have an allergy, be prepared (but also be excited). Our reservation made mention of a dairy allergy. The sandwiches and scones served to me were all absolutely fantastic and delicious, and they were very clear each thing was dairy free. I felt very well taken care of, and like I wasn't missing anything. They even had dairy free lemon curd, and it was so good. But...I was initially served dairy milk. When I asked, soya was promptly brought to me without issue, but I did have to ask. And for the cheese scone course, they had a dairy free cheese scone (delicious!!!), but served it with a slice of cheddar cheese. When describing the plate, the server caught the error and brought me back something else (though I think it was goat cheese after tasting it, so be careful). Still five stars because again, the dairy free sandwiches, scones, and desserts were exceptional, and all were made to perfectly match the normal fare, so I never felt like I had to eat something different. But if you have a dairy allergy, you may have to remind them to bring you plant milk.

My husband and I were recently at the Langham for their afternoon tea service to celebrate our honeymoon, having traveled all the way from Canada for this special occasion. We booked the service weeks in advance to ensure we’d have a table reserved. Our experience was a mix of highs and lows. The sandwiches, teas, and pastries were all very delicious, and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Each menu item served was flavourful and well-prepared. Unfortunately, our experience was marred by several service-related issues. The service we received left much to be desired. Our waitress was inattentive, and we couldn't help but notice other tables receiving more attention and better service from her. It was disappointing to see other diners being well taken care of while we felt overlooked. We noticed everyone else being served their sandwiches and tea promptly (even though they arrived later than us), but our tea was delayed despite being asked about it earlier. This was disappointing as we were at the Langham for an afternoon tea as I previously mentioned. It’s also important to note that almost immediately after we were seated by the hostess, the waitress arrived with Sparkling Tea and said that she’d like to offer us a glass each to start which we both accepted. We later noticed on our final bill that we had been charged for each glass and this was absurd to us as it was offered as a complimentary drink to begin the afternoon. The staff needs to do better about being clear what is complementary versus what has a charge attached. Despite this, we paid the bill in full and didn’t mention at the time. Despite these issues, the rest of the staff was friendly and efficient, as we observed other tables receiving excellent service from their waiters and staff. The primary reasons why we chose to start our trip with an afternoon tea at the Langham was in large part due to the service we expected. My husband and I were very disappointed as we’ve dined at other restaurants that value service more. Overall, while the food was fantastic, the uneven service unfortunately marred what could have been a perfect dining experience for our honeymoon celebration. Due to the service we received, we would not return to the Langham.

After having had an amazing time with the unique cocktails at the Artesian, the dining experience was sadly disappointing. I had tomato soup and a burger, my partner the tuna. The soup was very nice, pricey but enjoyable. The burger was just, standard, something you would be happy with at a standard pub, but at over £30 you expect something impressive. It was really not. For the tuna the sauce was unfortunately too salty. The service was OK. It was just not worth the pricetag really.

This is a relatively expensive afternoon tea even by London standards (£107pp incl glass of champagne and service) and we expected excellent food and service as a result. What we found was OK food and a couple of disappointing shortfalls in the service. The hotel foyer is lovely and the Palm Court is light and airy. We were seated promptly (although my friend was in a corner with a large plant impinging on her space!), and a friendly staff member explained the menu. We each ordered a glass of champagne which came promptly, followed by 4 finger sandwiches and a cute bite-sized cheese scone. However no-one took our tea order or came back to check on us, so we were 25 mins in and halfway through our sandwiches when we decided we needed to chase it up, so asked the waitress serving the next table if she could ask someone to take our order. A waiter arrived shortly afterwards and said 'I understand you'd like to order tea - sorry for the wait'. We were offered more sandwiches, but declined and the pastries were brought, followed shortly afterwards by the scones. By this time our tea was finished, but it was sometime before another man, possibly the Maitre d' appeared and asked if all was OK. We said we'd like more tea which then arrived quickly, but our cups were dirty with some cold tea left and we had to ask for fresh cups which I wouldn't expect to have to do in a high end restaurant.

Walking into the Langham has a real Wow factor, and we were fortunate to be seated in the corner to get the full view of the room and I was very happy that my dietary requirements could be fulfilled. We ordered the afternoon tea with a glass of rose champagne with tea and coffee. The tea and coffee arrived but the champagne didn't. We were delivered sandwiches which were quite dry and a little crispy. Unlimited tea is included but my friend ordered another coffee as she doesn't drink tea, which was charged for. After sitting with empty plates for a while, we were eventually approached to ask if we wanted more sandwiches but weren't given the option to respond. A further 10 mins passed until we got the attention of someone serving and was asked if we wanted anything, that's when I suggested the glasses of champagne we ordered might be nice. A plate of cakes appeared soon after our champagne was delivered, along with scones for my friend and some weird looking blobs that were described as scones for me. The cakes were OK but my gluten free scones definitely left a lot to be desired, as per picture. The pineapple jam that was served was delicious though. All in all, the whole experience was pretty underwhelming which is a real shame when this is where afternoon tea was created.

My boyfriend and I went along for afternoon tea on a Saturday and were sadly very disappointed. We have been to other afternoon teas at a similar price, and service and food was incomparable. Firstly, we were seated at a table where there was a mushed scone on the floor that had not been picked up. We ordered sparkling wine as soon as we sat down which took over 15 minutes to arrive. When the sandwiches came out, the waitress just put them on the table with no explanation of fillings. The only explanation was for a savoury scone (which came with the sandwiches) - a very blunt “that’s cheese and chutney”. I had a gluten free afternoon tea and the bread was incredibly dry. Again, not what I have experienced in other hotels with gf afternoon teas. We had both used the knife we had been given to spread the chutney on the savoury scone. This seemed to annoy the waitress when she came to collect our dishes and she took the used knifes off the plates and put them on the table for us to reuse for the next course leaving a stain on the tablecloth. Very strange as this was the only knife we then had to use for the sweet scones which was still all sticky from the chutney. This may seem picky but at that price point - not what you’d expect! We then had to remind the staff about our tea which when it came out did not come out with any milk. We had to ask for this. The cakes/ biscuits that came next were delicious. It’s a shame as our experience had been overshadowed by the poor service and not great sandwiches at this point. Next came the sweet scones. I bake myself and sadly the gf scones’ texture was rubbery (too much xantham gum maybe?) and I only managed to eat one half of one scone. I’m actually quite surprised at the ratings given to Palm Court for their afternoon tea when we had such awful service and the gluten free sandwiches and scones also lacked in quality. We won’t be going back.

The was a visit to “The Good Front Room by Dom Taylor” I expected more; the atmosphere in the room is amazing and the food was great while the service was not in line with that. SERVICE - 2/5 In this place you just expect service to be impeccable, but the first waitress who took our initial order couldn’t even describe the food and was actually almost arrogant about it (other waitresses and waiters were better, but it was also different all the time..?) FOOD - 4/5 as it is a Caribbean cuisine it is for me different, but I really liked “different”! The starters and the desserts were the best ones though even if the Curry Goat was really good. PRICE - 4/5 the quality of the food and the freshness motivates this price ATMOSPHERE- 4/5 Just loving the room here, almost just worth it for the hotel entrance and bar together with this beautiful dinner room

The service was satisfactory. The food was average and didn't justify the cost. The restroom facilities in the establishment were subpar; each cubicle I entered was unclean and in need of attention. Regrettably, I do not plan on revisiting.

As a general rule, most people know what "The Good Front Room" is: it's where your most important visitors are received. In this instance, it is also where the current pop-up Caribbean themed restaurant in the Langham Hotel's Palm Court is located. My mother and I celebrated my birthday there it was great!. Afro-Caribbean pictures of women were merged into the palm court's iconic style, which, whether intentional or not, went perfectly with the theme of International Women's Day! No doubt, you're shelling out a few zeros to dine here, but everything is to perfection from the moment you step in, the service, the cocktails (sorrenity), the starters (jerk chicken), the main dishes (curry goat with some roti) and the side dishes. They even surprised me with a birthday cake! I highly recommend trying this experience, but don't wait too long: it ends at the end of March and they were very busy. A special thank you to the staff of "The Good Front Room".

The tea time experience at this place had its positives, with a pleasant atmosphere and decent flavors. However, the service aspect proved disappointing. The inconvenience of not finding our coats was unexpected and it detracted from the overall experience. Moreover, there was a noticeable discrepancy in customer treatment. Some patrons received amenities like a designated stool for their handbags, while we were overlooked. This inconsistency left us feeling undervalued as customers. Additionally, the timing of food service was less than prompt, requiring a noticeable waiting time. However, a redeeming aspect was the acknowledgment of our family’s celebration of graduations and they offered a complimentary cake. Unfortunately, the gesture fell short, with a hastily written “congratulations” in chocolate. In the grand scheme, this service experience didn't align with the standards one would expect from a high-end venue. Comparatively, other upscale places in London have managed to deliver a more seamless and attentive service, making this particular tea time less appealing by comparison.

Service was good, which is why I rated this as average. However, the room was packed so tight with tables that my friend was continually knocked by the people walking past. The menu, although the descriptions were intriguing and the presentation was pleasing to the eye didn’t really live up to promise on taste or in quality. The flavours of the savouries were fairly insipid and uninspiring. It seems pointless to provide a pastry fork if the reimagined pastries served have elements on each one that are so hard they are unable to be picked up by said fork. The crème de la crème was a particular plate flight risk and had to be cut with a knife while shielding with the other hand. Stick to Claridges or the Mandarin Oriental is my advice.

Located just a few minutes from Oxford street underground station and opposite the BBC is the Langham Hotel. I've heard so much about this hotel, many years back I've wanted to visit the first grand hotel to serve afternoon tea. At first glance, the hotel looks ok. Not particularly grand or ornate compared to the other top London hotels. Staff were polite, and showed us to the table. I asked if the sandwiches are refillable, he had no idea which I thought was strange. Nice touch with mini stools to place your hangbags on. My friend has dietary requirements and they were very mindful of this but repeatedly asking us. I understand why but anything over 3/4 times can seem a bit too much. The finger sandwiches were fresh and tasty, particularly the salmon one. We liked the egg mayo filling too. The Assam tea was lovely but the English Breakfast tea was disappointing and tasted weak and bland. Earl Grey was fresh and fragrant too. We felt the service from staff during the afternoon tea was slowing declining. Perhaps there was a change of shift. At one point there were 3 servers at one table of 6 and no other staff on the floor. We called for another pot of tea and water but after 20 mins, nothing. Very disappointing indeed. The pastries were ok, we enjoyed the red cube one the best. They were kind enough to bring out a chocolate celebratory cake which tasted the best. It seems the complimentary items tastes the best, which included the mini cheese scones too. The normal scones were ok, nice touch with the pineapple jam but we preferred the strawberry jam. We visited the ladies on our way out, located in the basement. Only to see flies in a couple of the cubicle, not a nice way to leave. I doubt we shall be returning, it was an interesting experience though.

Expensive but it's a lovely experience. It was fully booked, lovely atmosphere and excellent service. The food is Caribbean based with a twist. Meals come with sides for the table. We chose The Langham to celebrate our daughter‘s 21st birthday with an afternoon tea. Booked in advance and was suitably impressed with ‘WhatsApp’ communication from the hotel. I asked if a small birthday cake could be supplied, to mark the occasion ( and make the afternoon tea a special event) I was told that they could supply a ‘complimentary’ cake , or if I wanted something specific, they could inform the kitchen. I confirmed that a complimentary cake would be perfect. Disappointed to report that no cake appeared, and no mention of it was made. I contacted the hotel via WhatsApp later in the day, and was told someone would contact me. I’ve heard nothing either by phone or email.

Me and my daughter went to this comfortable and relaxing afternoon tea restaurant for my birthday. We had an amazing time. I was treated with care , attention to details and all we needed nothing was hard for the staff to cater to. They explained the difference of the sandwiches to us. Check on us if we needed anything. Our table was cleaned and we were very comfortable. The ambiance itself was just amazing and the sound of the piano was also very therapeutic. We had a great time and as I did not catch all the names of those who attended to us, I just want to say thanks to everyone in the palm court and of course from the very main entrance of the hotel the doormen and all who welcomed us. Great hotel, great hospitality.

My second ever experience for afternoon tea. The sandwiches were amazing, especially the beef and salmon. Not too chewy, perfectly balanced. We were offered the hummus sandwich as the wife couldn't have the salmon or beef, and that was our favourite. Slightly spicy, creamy, delicious. The strawberry jam with the scones could be better, wasn't as sweet and needed some chunks (personal preference). The clotted cream was nice though. The desserts were brilliant. The fig was surprisingly nice, soft, slightly crunchy, and flavourful. Not a big fan of custard so can't comment on that. The orange dessert was alright, not a fan of orange but was nice. The small swirl (forgot what it was) was my favourite. Crunchy, creamy, perfect. The teas were nice, the red dragon was my personal favourite. I wanted to try the Japanese tea but I was too full. The chai was very nice too. The silver needle was disappointing, not much taste. Overall very impressed, some parts better than The Rubens, some lacking, one covered chicken, one beef, one had better tea and desserts (The Rubens) one had a better atmosphere and cutlery (seriously, I loved the cutlery at The Langham, need to get myself some (if anyone's willing to help me out, It'd be much appreciated)).

Very expensive for what it is even though the food tasted good, compared to other fine dining restaurants and some with Michelin stars in comparison this will hit you in the pocket hard. A few other fair points, the rice and peas to share is survey in a very small bowel, so small only a teaspoon is placed in the bowel to serve 2, now lets be real, that’s not for 2, they should serve a bowel each. Asked for some tap water for the table and you would think that is in short supply. Normally you would just be given a jug for the table but not here, it’s served by the (again) small glass, ask for more? Sure they will fill it but should you have to ask and feel that tap water is a privilege to be spared. Desert was good and a good portion. Nibbles were also good but a dipping sauce would have sent them into a new level (just a good suggestion). Over all I support chef Dom Taylor as he did well winning the show and showcasing Caribbean food

Terrific Caribbean food by Dom Taylor. Lovely range of traditional dishes, expertly chosen and produced in gorgeous surroundings but badly let down by poor service. Rebranded as The Good Front Room, this venue is aiming to be a five star restaurant, but the staff really need extra training. I was not shown to my table but left to make my own way there, my chair was not pulled out for me, my napkin was not put in my lap and I was not offered a menu for an aperitif. I and my two guests had to ask for pretty much everything. My cocktail was spilled onto the table on arrival and never cleaned, leaving a wet sticky patch under my drinks. Food arrival was rather haphazard and we were not really tapped through what was placed in front of us, especially the side dishes. We had to ask for wine, one of my friends found the alcohol free beer he had chosen was not available. Half way through the meal, another round of drinks, which we had not ordered, were bizarrely placed in front of us and then taken away again. We were not offered coffee and it took a while to fully reunite us with all items of our outdoor clothes. To reiterate, the food was excellent, but the service left a lot to be desired.

My experience was for dinner at the Palm Court I was invited to. I paid for a £100 MONETARY VOUCHER to contribute toward my order. Though when we came to pay the bill its value was not redeemed, my dinner companion paid the the full £710 plus bill herself. She is the only working adult in a household of two young children, one with special needs and an elderly mother to take care of. I printed it and presented the thing on our arrival. Are your front of house clueless, or only feign to listen but do not care to understand? If you don't want the business this product attracts you should not sell it. This is a one off for me so am unlikely to have a use for it again. Compliments to the chef and cooks, I atleast enjoyed the meal.

We are very much experienced 5 star connoisseurs when it comes to good dining and service. We had the relatively new Caribbean menu experience and being of West Indian heritage was looking very much to the experience at the Palm Court. The setting and seating arrangements was good with a good atmosphere. Good selection on the menu for a 3 course meal which comes with a selection of drinks to choose from. Pleasantly surprised that the side offerings came complete as part of the meal. Although the food was tasty, overall, and well presented I was left a little deflated, maybe my expectations were set too high or unrealistic. However I did enjoy the meal for the most part and would look forward to going again, but only if it was discounted in some way

It’s an experience, yes. Full stop! Very overpriced for what it is… 4 small sandwiches and 4 small cakes. Welcome was warm, we came first, afterwards all down the hill. Sandwiches were ok, if you wanted more, you could order only once extra and you had to ask. Cakes too small and when I asked for one piece more, they said no. Service is ok but stuff speaks Romanian all the time, which is very disturbing if you have a table next to the bar… Other places are definitely better. Would not come back even if it was for free…

On arrival met by the most gracious of hosts who took our coats and showed us to our table. Great atmosphere with grand piano being played. When served sandwiches a mistake was made, one serving should have been pescatarian (but two meat were served). Rather than apologising I was challenged by the server telling me this information was not in the system (I knew this not to be true as our initial host confirmed one meal was pescatarian). Server was blunt and not welcoming. No offering of additional tea made throughout. For a premium afternoon tea, I would have expected more from the food, sandwich bread slightly hard on the outside indicating they had been sat for a while. Some items served not as described (the egg wasn’t in brioche bread and had no sign of truffle). Mince pie mainly pastry with very little filling. Scones limited in taste. Overall lovely atmosphere, initial welcome brilliant, but let down by table service and overall food quality / taste. Nice to try but won’t be back.

Built in 1927, the Palm Court is a tribute to art deco, best known for its afternoon and high tea. It is actually famed as the birthplace of afternoon tea providing a sense of occasion against a backdrop of daily live music. Afternoon tea is an occasion at the Palm Court with a tea sommelier at hand to provide advice. It is one of the few places that has a children's afternoon tea menu. There is also a breakfast, lunch and evening la carte menu. Price wise the The Langham afternoon tea (served between 12:30pm to 5pm, everyday) will set you back between £70 to £80 per person with dishes from the a la carte menu ranging between £12 to £36. The breakfast menu is full of classics including French toast, pancakes, waffles and shakshouka with prices ranging between £12 and £28. When walking into the Langham through the main entrance on Portland Street, the Palm Court it is the large room in the center of the foyer. The setting is luxurious and glamorous but infused with British warmth. Live music plays 1pm - 6pm from Wednesday to Sunday. The best part of the Palm Court is the staff and service; no stuffy overbearing service. Gregarious, friendly and attentive people instead. The evening menu is a mix of British heritage and European with minimalist portion sizes but tasty flavours. The staple ingredients are ox, chicken, sea bass, salmon and mushrooms. The only area for improvement is increasing the non-alcoholic drink options. Adding a selection of mocktails to the menu would be great without removing the indulgence factor. My recommendation is to visit the Palm Court for afternoon tea and soak in the food, impeccable service and luxurious setting. Have lunch and dinner in town instead.

We decided to treat ourselves to afternoon tea, as part of a Christmas trip. Firstly, the room is lovely and it has a nice atmosphere. The food was lovely, absolutely the best scones I have ever tasted. Deliciously light and crumbly, the pineapple jam was gorgeous as well. Sandwiches were nice as were the mince pies with blue cheese. However, paying high end for a special experience, wasn’t on the cards. Probably this was due to having 3 different servers, whilst other tables appeared to have a lovely time with engaging staff. Moreover, one of the spoons had chocolate on the back of it and we were never offered a take home box for the treats we couldn’t finish. However, other tables did get this level of service. The level of service, at the price point was very poor, as was the lack of attention to detail. I came with high hopes of a lovely time and something special, but was left feeling disappointed and I wouldn’t return. I really can’t explain how disappointed I was in the overall experience. The man playing the piano was great and it gave the place a relaxing feel. Having heard only good things about The Good Front Room at Palm Court, I was really looking forward to going there. Having been there last Saturday, I can say the whole experience was fantastic, from start to finish. The room is beautifully furnished, warm and spacious - it was the first time I've been in a restaurant where there's plenty of space between tables, which I liked. The food - the three courses were all great. The jerk chicken start and sea bream (main) were well-seasoned, the sweet potato chips were gorgeous. The pineapple upside-down cake was just the right size and not overly sweet, so I could happily finish it off. Apart from the food, the people at The Palm Court made the atmosphere very relaxing, not pretentious at all. They were friendly and happy to help - thank you to Mercy and her colleagues for all their hard work! I took my mother and it's rare that she talks about a restaurant days after we've been to it and she's still talking about Palm Court, she loved it! Overall, I am sure I'll be back at Palm Court again and I'd recommend it to others. One of the best restaurant experiences I've had.

Classy afternoon tea experience with unlimited sandwich and tea refills! Service was phenomenal from the time we first entered the hotel. We were warmly greeted, our coats were taken from us, and we were escorted to our table where they had set up stands for our purses so they wouldn't touch the floor. My friend and I both ordered the red dragon tea, which is delicious and I highly recommend! They started us off with the 4 sandwiches, of which my favorite was the beef sandwich. My friend doesn't eat beef or shellfish and was able to request doubles of the cucumber and avocado sandwiches and refills of this as well. We were able to get several sandwich refills before moving on to the scones and desserts. The cheese scones were not my favorite, but I did enjoy the scones that were served at the tea's conclusion. My favorites were the mission fig compote, coffee and orange delice, and cheesecake to share, which we could barely eat since we were so full. For our second round of teas, I got the organic jade sword and my friend got the peppermint tea. Would not recommend the peppermint since the tea had a lot of tiny tea leaves in it that were too small for the strainer to catch. Overall wonderful experience and highly recommend!
