Good but not as good as it should be for the price. The service and desserts really don’t live up to expectations. The piano player when you enter is amazing and the decor is so classy. The service was very sporadic for us. Our server disappeared completely for 20 minutes. Our water and teapots were all empty. I saw the mini scone my gluten-eating husband was served- the same one for 1£ in the bottom grocery floor of the store- umm we paid a lot to get that tiny scone. The people on either side of us were complaining about things to the staff- one lady requested a black cloth napkin since she didn’t want white lint on her black pants but they couldn’t find any. At the other table a lady sent back food for her vegetarian sister and was dissastisfied. I’m celiac and the food was ok- I enjoyed the sandwiches most, but the gf desserts were nothing special and overly sweet to where I couldn’t finish any. The gf scones were like bread, a bad texture. If you’re celiac, definitely go get cream tea at St. Ermin’s- great gf scones prepared in a separate gf kitchen! Cheaper too and beautiful chandeliers.

My husband and I celebrated my birthday at the Diamond Jubilee tea salon. Exceptional experience, everything perfect. A romantic and relaxing atmosphere with a very good pianist playing in the background. Delicious food, and excellent service. They also brought me a chocolate cupcake for my birthday. The teas were delicious and everything could be reordered several times. Super positive and pleasant experience.

Good tea quality, beautiful scenery, fine china, but some pretty large deal breakers. Mediocre food quality, and questionable service. To get into detail for starters the scones and bread are reheated and/or made too far in advance it changes the texture greatly. It’s almost appears reheated by a microwave dried out from the outside and overly moist in the inside. Perhaps my bar is too high but at this price point, it comes from the price points charged by the establishment. (They charge similar to some Michelin starred restaurants.) the service I received was 0 check ins after our tea was initially set. From there I basically had to flag down my waitress for any requests. I mean I waited 15 minutes for my check to come back. I highly cannot recommend high tea to anyone if this is the standard. For improvements recommend simplifying the menu to ensure items are semi-made to order and increasing team attentiveness given the amount of staff that are on duty.

Exquisitely civilised afternoon tea! Lovely food, delightful atmosphere and surroundings. Two of us shared a savoury and a traditional afternoon tea between us, which worked well - the savoury morsels were an absolute treat! Everyone else stuck to the traditional. Quite pricey, but absolutely worth it for the experience. Service slightly slow a couple of times (e.g. request for additional pots of tea), but did not detract in the slightest from a superb afternoon. Table of 6, including two Americans who were, quite frankly, bowled over!

This was our second time visiting and it didn’t disappoint. The high tea here is so lovely and delicious. This time we were back with our 9 month old girl and she also had a great time. The staff were friendly and they had high chairs on site. We opted for 1 x savoury and 1 x sweet high tea and my wife and I shared. I love that you can order anything again and it’s included. We will definitely be back again!

I’ve always wanted to experience a proper afternoon tea in London, so my husband surprised me with a visit to Fortnum & Mason for their Jubilee Tea. It turned out to be more about the experience than the food, honestly. While the tea itself was lovely, the food was surprisingly bland—none of the items really stood out to me, and it felt like we were mostly paying for the name and the fancy setting. For the price, I think there are other afternoon tea spots that offer a much better value. One thing that left a strange impression was our server. She started off very friendly, but towards the end, her attitude seemed to shift. When we didn’t finish the jam and clotted cream, we noticed she was packing leftovers for another table, but for us, it felt like we had to practically beg for the same courtesy. It was just an odd and awkward note to end on. Overall, I’m glad I got to experience it once, but I wouldn’t go back. For anyone wanting to try afternoon tea in London, there are plenty of other places that offer a better experience without the steep price tag.

Went back in August. To this day it still makes me upset that I wasted my money on this experience. The table service was terrible. Waiter was nice but never around. The tea tasted like the cheap tea I can get at a corner store. The deserts looked nice but the sandwiches can be made at home easily by yourself. Visit a local pub instead of this! Avoid!!

I was excited to visit The Diamond Jubilee Tea Salon and was encourage when they offered gluten free options. When booking our reservation, I had taken the precaution of notifying them in advance about my gluten and dairy allergies to ensure I was able to get accommodated. Unfortunately, our experience was far from delightful. Upon arrival, we were informed that the only option available to me was fruit, and that this would still incur the full price of the tea experience. The server's dismissive attitude and lack of empathy towards my dietary restrictions left me feeling judged and not welcomed in the establishment. We ultimately decided to leave, feeling unheard and unwelcome. It's disappointing that a place known for its tea and pastries couldn't accommodate a common dietary need, especially when given prior notice and was told it was able to be done. I would recommend going to a different location should you have any allergies that need to be accommodated!

The staff were a bit rude and didn’t explain the offering adequately eg failed to mention it was refillable and that we could also enjoy the macaron tower in the corner. I requested a refill on sandwiches that never appeared though I was quite full anyway so didn’t follow up. Service aside the food itself was delicious, the live piano enjoyable and of course the history of the institution is impressive. Ideal for a celebration as it is rather expensive. The store itself is also full of luxe delights and quite an experience though the reviews indicate a very similar level of poor customer service which is disappointing given it is so renowned

For a change, I chose the savoury tea menu, which was fun, but by the end, I thought the savoury cakes had too much cream cheese. My daughter had a vegetarian tea menu, which she liked, and we both had black tea with peach and strawberry, which were different. You are welcome to sample as many different teas as you like.

Family of four came for afternoon tea to celebrate daughter's birthday. Generally very good food, drink and service albeit very fully priced. You really need to want to go at the level they set it. We won't be really wanting to go again despite it being generally decent. I can get generally decent for half the price and have friendly service as well. Tips for the team: - make sure your staff are trained to smile and be friendly and explain how the afternoon tea works to guests. To be fair, all were good apart from the lady who was allocated to our table. - please don't make your guests tell the first person they speak to about allergies, and requests, for you to then have to explain it to the second, third and fourth person. Its a bit wearing, especially having emailed also twice in advance. Still incorrect in the end. - Don't hurry guests out when the waitress on the table doesn't even come over enough to cover it when you run out of the basics, like tea, cream etc. - Charged for a bottle of sparkling water when only one of the four asked for it.

Lovely. But over rated. 4 of us had a nice high / afternoon tea here. The staff are nice but we still needed to ask for anything we needed (wasn’t offered). Sandwiches nice also. But lacking in much flavour. Smoked trout, not salmon. Egg needed salt. The cheese and pickle quite boring. No mustard flavour on the ham. Scone were hard and cold. Soft on inside but these should be brought out warm when the customer is ready. Mine crumbled when I cut it open. They did let you take any leftovers home so order more before you leave! Really not worth £80 each I’m afraid. Lots of different options in London now. Or go to a lovely little cafe where they make the scones to order and the food will be much better. Rather than a huge room packed with people.

The place is wonderful and since it was my first time in London I really had to try this restaurant for an afternoon tea. The menu is a little bit pricy, but the atmosphere, the place itself, the quality of the teas and the food are the main reasons behind it. There was even a man playing the piano. The scones are the best scones I’ve ever had! The service was nice but sometimes I felt that there was a communication problem between the waiters and waitresses. It took us a long time just to have the bill and even a longer time to get the take away boxes. It was also a bit loud inside the restaurant, which was quite unexpected.

Delicious afternoon tea at F&M. It's pricey but lovely for a special occasion. Service was wonderful got offered refill on all teas and more food at no extra price. Beautiful surroundings and love piano music. This was a belated bday treat for my mum who loved it. We had the high tea as we didn't want sandwiches. I had a cheese souflee which was delicious and my mum had the beef. We couldn't eat all our cakes, it was too much and they gave us take away boxes which was great. They also bought out an extra cake for my mum which said happy bday which was really lovely. There is a service charge but I didn't mind paying that because the service was impeccable. Expensive for sure but lovely for a wonderful treat and something to try at least once.

Come for the experience! The prices were slightly high for the product in my opinion. It was £270 for 3 persons to have the afternoon tea. We wanted to do the tea tasting for £6 which was listed on their menu, however they do not allow you to do it if you didn’t mention it in advance. Reservations seem to fill up quickly but we also went on a weekend. The sandwiches and scones with clotted cream and lemon curd/strawberry preserve were the best. The desserts weren’t that great. Our favorite sandwich was the trout. Overall fun experience, upscale, but slightly over priced.

Booked as a birthday surprise for my partner and the children. One of the boys is VERY fussy, which was taken into consideration with sandwich selection thankfully. Everything was well done, possibly not as well presented as the Ritz, but not bad. My only complaint, and the reason for 4 rather than 5 stars was the waiting time... We were offered more sandwiches before we moved onto desert, which we accepted...and we waited, and waited...probably around 20 minutes or more, the tea room was not that busy, ran out of tea...waited some more... I would say this is a £60 experience, not £80, and with no consideration to a younger audience (my children do not eat thar much) I feel the price is steep.

Perhaps we got really unlucky with our timing but our afternoon tea experience was completely awful. To start, the price tag is definitely not worth the experience. The service is terrible for the price they charge. We travelled from Canada and all the websites claim it was the best afternoon tea service - this is false. Seriously overpriced. There is nowhere to hang your jackets, they let you pull your chairs out yourselves. Our server was horrendous - she didn’t deliver our tea to the table until 20 minutes after our food arrived. When the tea finally arrived, she served the incorrect teas. When the food did arrive, it was missing the correct number of items. We had to ask multiple times to make sure we got all the correct items. Half our table got food poisoning with one friend having to go to the doctor. The doctor believes it was the lobster served in one of the dishes. And to top it all off, after paying the cheque, the server didn’t even thank us or tell us to have a nice day. For a place that has a reputation for high-end afternoon tea, there was nothing high-end about this experience at all. A complete waste of money.

Totally overrated and underwhelmed by the whole experience. We had the traditional afternoon tea selection from the menu. You can tell pastries and scones weren't fresh. Jam and clotted cream came out from a jar (and served in jars). Everything was uberly toothachingly sweet! Sandwiches were...Sandwiches. Tea served wasn't even steeped properly. Not enough tea leaves!!! The lady at the reception counter was totally disinterested. She's supposedly the front of the house but she didn't even greet us, no eye contact or smile whatsoever. Not the type of service you would expect for that price you are paying. You get better service greetings at McDonald's. I do not see what the fuss is all about here. With the price you are paying (£80 per pax) save your money and go somewhere else like the Savoy or Ritz! We were only served 2 servings of our pastries, the waiter said he would return with our remaining order but never did return. At that point we gave up on the whole experience.

Very bad service, the dishes were late to arrive (around an hour). We had reservation at 6pm. When it was 7:30pm, the staff tried/hinted/wanted to make us leave, while the second top layer hadn’t arrived yet. I told the waiters that we would take away the unserved top layer, and they didn’t communicate between each other and another waiter still served us the dish. I told him we would like to take it home and he said “do you want it or not?” rudely. Then suddenly, the other waiter came immediately and took it away without communicating with us at all! Then, we had to wait for another 20 min for them to pack. When I came last time, it was totally different and everything was lovely and a wonderful experience. The waitress last time even offered me a surprise gift of some pastries and a discount card for purchase downstairs. This time’s experience has been total disappointment. I had a feeling that the staff didn’t want us there. I told the staff about the difference and how I felt, and he said “oh lucky you” right in my face. To me this was totally unacceptable. Very very bad experience. I have always trusted F&M tea house experience and taken some of my important celebration occasions to your Diamond Jubilee tea room, but I felt very bad to be treated this way and it didn’t give good impression to my companion either who came to the UK for the first time and always wanted to experience the afternoon tea culture. Service was fine, asked if we were okay a bit too often but we appreciated the efforts. Table was small and with the dish towers we could not interact with each other. We asked for a change to another table but we were refused. Reason was that the table was meant for 3 people, but soon it was taken by a party of 2. Savoury items were fine but the sweet patisserie were not up to standard. The worst part was the atmosphere that was noisy and chaotic. We thought traditional English afternoon tea was a posh experience but we felt like being at a sports pub. For a spending of almost £200 we expected far more from an establishment with over 317 years of history. Very disappointed and will not come back nor recommend to anybody.

The food was overpriced for its average quality. The service was decent. Yet, we asked to move to a nearby corner table with more space so we could comfortably chat and see each other, but the waiter refused, saying it was meant for three people. Later, the same table was given to two other guests. I also realized our table was the smallest in the restaurant, despite us having made a reservation. If you're looking for a comfortable and quiet dining experience, this place might not be the best choice. It was like dining in a fast food shop as it was really noisy around.

Went here at 5pm for a reservation Looks of others waiting but didn't have to wait long to be seated Very attentive staff and especially Michael who served us throughout and was great. We had one sweet and one savoury afternoon tea and both were excellent quality. Huge choice of teas. We would highly recommend

disappointing The lady who greeted was excellent and found me a suitable table as I was dining on my own I ordered high tea and was given the incorrect hot dish I could not get the attention of my waitress so I finished the omelette which was awful I sat and waited for my waitress to take the empty plate of which the hot food was served on And I waited and I waited and I waited So I placed the plate away from me on the other side of the table It was duly collected I then started to eat the sweet course of the cream tea I ate the scones and half way through the peach mousse my waitress appeared with the Welsh rarebit I ordered she asked if k liked what I had eaten and I said no not really so she said well the chef got it wrong so you can have this as well It had obviously been on the hot plate a long time I was embarrassed so ate this The whole experience was spoilt I did not want to make a fuss I paid my bill and was so cross to see after all this when I looked at the bill I had paid a service charge No effort was made on the part of my waitress to put things right other than give me the sad Welsh rarebit Very disappointing and won’t go to eat in the jubilee salon again

I had a pleasant time having afternoon tea. There wasn’t much of a wait, I had requested a discreet table by a window and my request was honored. The service was excellent and not too slow. The food was good, although the cucumber sandwich had no flavor, and the chicken sandwich tasted too much like the fat from the meat (probably low quality). The scones were soft and tasty but not so much for the other pastries. As for the room, it is lovely but the chairs are in poor condition, which is unfortunate for such a prestigious establishment. A major downside was the waitress’s dirty fingernails. Hand hygiene is essential when working in food service, and it was disgusting. Overall, I had a pleasant time, but I won’t be coming back. It’s nice to try once, but it doesn’t warrant a return visit. Thank you for hosting me though.

Not a great experience. Courtyard dining was nice given the weather and the food was reasonably priced if a little underwhelming. Service was a major let down. There were a handful of guests and the service team were slow to acknowledge us both upon arrival in the hotel and beyond. We were charged when placing the order, which is perfectly fine until we realised we were the only ones that had been charged upfront. Not sure of the rationale and probably wouldn't have been bothered until we were asked to pay again when leaving. For clarity, this was a business lunch and both of us were suited, not exactly looking the part to run off. Would have been happy for them to have approached and simply ask of we had paid rather than have someone ask from across the courtyard. Drinks arrived late, but to be fair food was served on time. Fortunately the company and conversation made up for a poor showing from the restaurant.

Dear Management, I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to express my disappointment regarding the treatment I received during my recent visit to your restaurant on 22/09/2024. Unfortunately, the manager on duty, Mika, was unprofessional and rude to me during our interaction. When I politely brought up an issue with my order, the manager's response was dismissive and lacked courtesy. This behaviour left me feeling uncomfortable and unwelcome, which is far from the experience I expect when dining at your establishment. As a customer, I believe that respect and professionalism should tu be at the forefront of any interaction. I sincerely hope this matter is addressed, and that steps are taken to ensure a more respectful and pleasant experience for all future guests. Thank you for your attention to this matter. I would appreciate a response regarding how this situation will be handled. I literally spent over 1k today and don’t believe this is the right customer service I deserve. Sincerely, Raquel 22/09/2024

A place to go if you're near Covent Garden Garden!! A good selection of beers, including London Pride as well as friendly staff. A nice design with lots of old pictures of things such as sports etc.

Sunday Lunch - upstairs dining room. Open kitchen. Roast beef & all the trimmings. Beef cooked medium rare, well seasoned and a generous portion . Excellent service from our friendly knowledgeable waitress. There was more of a buzz downstairs in the bar, where lunch was also served. Next time . Recommended.
