We had afternoon tea with bottomless prosecco. The service was very slow and bad, we had to ask for tea at an afternoon tea, and when given the pot of tea we had to then ask for milk and a spoon. The food took a while to come out and was not worth the wait. It is all obviously pre-made and set aside for hours. The sandwiches were dry and stale, there was an odd choux pastry filled with a mushroom paste which should be avoided at all costs. The scones were stale and an effort to chew and the other desserts were very basic and the two mousse ones were both frozen when we received them. Unsure how this was allowed to leave the kitchen, the prosecco was the only positive thing and they were attentive to topping this up. Overall, would not recommend to anyone.

We were a party of 6 celebrating a joint 50th, 70th and 80th. We had the 3 course lunch with unlimited Prosecco. From the outset, we felt rushed to order and were told we had to order all 3 courses at the same time. Most of us don’t really drink and only stuck with a glass of Prosecco with one top up. Starter and main were ok, although we had to remind the waitress that we had ordered the red wine sauce to accompany the steak. By the time the sauce had arrived, the steak was cold. With the dessert, it was clear that the waitress had got the order wrong. They came back to us 3 times to double check what we’d ordered… it was frustrating as we were all very clear with what we had ordered and each of us could recite what each of us had ordered!! We ordered 4 tarts and 2 rhubarbs, so it was hardly confusing!! After the desserts, one of the parties asked if she could have her glass of Prosecco topped up and the waitress was quite rude with her response. She said no, because we were only entitled to 90 mins of top ups!! We were not told this during our meal and fact that only 2/6 parties drank Prosecco, I thought it quite petty of them to stick to this unknown rule especially as the lady organised and booked the table and particularly when we only drank probably a bottle and a half between us throughout the meal. Then very shortly after we settled the final bill, we were told they had to prepare the table for the next sitting and asked us on no uncertain terms to leave….This was the straw that broke the camel’s back and I felt compounded to write a review. Upon leaving, there was no queue of customers waiting to be sat, which was not a surprise since it was around 3:30pm so too late for lunch and too early for dinner and the restaurant was only at 40-50% capacity!! Having come from a restaurant background, I am fully aware of the challenges restauranteurs have and would never, out of spite, write a bad review. However this was my joint birthday celebration with a group of mature woman, some of whom had travelled in to London from afar, but this experience has left a bitter taste in what should have been a lovely lunch together. I suggest that this establishment reviews their practices and conveys the time limits imposed for ‘unlimited drinks’ to customers from the outset and ensure that staff are trained to take orders rather than infer that any confusion was caused by the customers. They should also not take large table bookings if their staff are unable to cope….In summary, food was ok (nothing special) but the rude service ruined our experience and day. The lady who booked the reservation is extremely upset and regrets that of all the places she could have booked, she chose this one for a very special occasion!! Never again!!

Very poor service from the start! Our waitress did not know what was on the menu and kept having to ask colleagues. After we placed our order, on at least 2 occasions our food did not arrive as the waitress did not take down the order correctly! Free flowing Prosecco was definitely not the case, unless you class 3 glasses as free flowing. Very disappointing experience. I definitely will not be recommending this restaurant to friends and family.

Disappointed is an understatement! Took a friend for her birthday.. The booking was at 4pm but was told they were out of popular options due to the time! So out of four options only 3 one having a surcharge was available. No empathic apology or alternative option! Sat on a 4 table facing the wall! Requested to move which they did. We eat everything! The starter was gross .. Salmon in cream. Cold! The main was cod, so I need to say more! Tasteless. The desert was ok .. just ok! The lovely lady poured us generous wine before she disappeared which left us to pour our own wine - we should’ve asked for more wine but we were over it! Atmosphere was bland just like the food! All staff apart from one European lady were miserable and rude. I would suggest NOT going here at all.

My daughter had booked for us to have a Virgin Experience Afternoon Tea and Bottomless Prosecco. Unfortunately the staff were inattentive and food was the worst we have had during our 18 years of many afternoon experiences. As for the bottomless Prosecco 90 mins was rather awful having to keep asking the staff to top our glasses and then was told this is your last one and they came back and asked us to leave as our time was up. We could’ve taken our drinks to the bar. There were 14 tables not in use therefore it wasn’t necessary to say that to us and the other tables that we were talking to too. Would never go there again.

Was a bit worried after reading earlier reviews but we had an enjoyable 3 course lunch. It was the ‘Buy a gift’ experience of a 3 course lunch and a bottle of champagne for 2. We are not big drinkers and so didn’t finish the champagne although they topped it up frequently and kept it chilled. I have a cow’s milk intolerance and the chef took the trouble to come and speak to me. He explained how they could adapt the food to suit. This was refreshing as many places leave me with the vegan menu when I eat meat! We had poached salmon starter, followed by duck breast in a yakatori sauce and roasted cauliflower. I had goats cheese for dessert and my mum had the chocolate fondant. We had to pay for service and our tea and coffee but I expected that. The waitresses were very attentive throughout. We would go back. Very pleasant afternoon.

AVOID !! Total rip off! First of all staff are ‘nice’. We had afternoon tea booked via a virgin voucher - otherwise without alcohol it’s £75!! We asked for a table by the window.. no not allowed as they are set for dinner (just meant they had different glasses and no one came on for dinner whilst we were there they could have easily have sat us there !) Everything is served with truffle - they did accommodate me by serving my sandwiches without it. Throughout tea nothing is replenished!! Tea is served in stainless steel leaky teapots - tea bags - thick pottery tea cups Prosecco warm/flat screw top bottles constantly asking to be refilled Room .. 80’s conference style !! Awful !! Unless you have been gifted a voucher avoid like the plague!! For a central London hotel it’s a disgrace ! This hotel is near the ritz and fortumns and masons .., I advise you at all costs go there !!!!!!!

I booked pre show, bottomless prosecco dinner for my boyfriend. I was bit worried after reading the reviews, but needed not. It's a beautiful place. From moment you walk in, it feels bit special. Food was marvellous and our glasses were never empty. Our lovely waitress Amandeep was very attentive and made sure we had great experience. The only minus was that our mains took ages to come (even though there were only 2 tables in the restaurant at the time), and that made us late for the show... But other than that it was great dinner. Thank you!

3 Course meal and bottomless bubbles experience booked through buy a gift. These are always a bit of a risk but this one delivered, certainly on the bottomless bubbles as our glasses were never empty. The staff were friendly and attentive, offering great service. The food was was great but from a set menu (it does tell you that in the booking) and you will need to expect to pay some surcharges (Steak and chips was an extra £20) . Whilst that might put you off, the overall bill that night was an extra £48 but we must have drank that in fizz anyway so still a great deal. Voucher price was £79 so we got a three course meal for 2 and fizz all night in Central London for around £130. I've paid close to that in Miller and Carter!

My girlfriend and I had a very disappointing experience at our recent visit on January 20th, 2024, at 5:45 PM. We had a pre-booked reservation at 6PM. We were met by an unprofessional maitre d' who displayed a negative attitude and made us wait at the bar . He huffed and Puffed each time he passed by. We waited for over 20 minutes at the bar without service (no one around) Other customers came and left . We did not get seated unti 6.25pm . This, along with the significant delays in receiving our food (almost an hour and a half for the main course), significantly impacted our evening as we had planned to attend a show afterwards. While the young waitresses who directly served us were friendly and attentive, the overall experience was severely hampered by the unprofessional demeanor of the maitre d', the evident lack of staff, and the resulting slow service. This was especially disappointing as it was a pre-planned birthday celebration for my girlfriend. It is important to note that the unprofessional behavior of the maitre d' and the lengthy service delays significantly detracted from our experience. While I appreciate the efforts of the waitresses who served us directly, the overall experience fell short of expectations. I hope that the restaurant will take this feedback seriously and address the issues raised, particularly regarding the maitre d's conduct and staff shortages. I have tried to contact the resturant directly via Kapil Vittolia (Food and Beverage Manager) several times via email and even the main enquiries email address which have all been ignored. Which suggests they do not care!

I would give them zero if I could. We went for our second Afternoon Tea her, as our first visit in August was appalling. We were promised we would be well looked after, but this was certainly not the case. In fact almost every guest in the busy room were all having the same experience. We waited for such a long time for our food, and with only two staff two staff to service the whole room it was diabolical . There was a lady there for her birthday and she got so annoyed with the lack of serving the Prosecco, she went and got the bottle herself and came to all the tables to serve us. We spoke to Kapil the manager who assured most tables we would get a refund, but three months on we still have not received it. Kapil admitted he had overbooked as there were tables in the bar area who were having the same neglect as us in the room. The guests were all talking about it, and the staff just shut the doors on the room and walked away. I would recommend you steer clear of this place at all costs.

Now for the food, I'm so pleased we tried some unusual stuff for us, pigeon & pheasant, both truly excellent, so together with the potted shrimp, salmon main, cheese on toast with a twist & the lemon mango tart (which my wife had & loved, & she doesn't do desserts at all!) we had a wonderful time, of course the prosecco helped. Wow. I wish that was a good wow I’ve never been so disappointed in an experience I bought the bottemless Prosecco afternoon tea for my sisters Christmas present from virgin experience She must think I’m taking the mickey The photos suggested a lovely London setting and ambiance What we were met with was a conference room with curtains pulled so you couldn’t even see out of the windows. The chairs were borderline office quality and the table decor zero. We stirred our tea with a fork as table not laid properly. The staff did bring numerous (must have been low or no alcohol as we would have been on the floor! ) Prosecco refills. After 45 mins and still no food we asked. It came and was horrible. No other word. Photo is the what they describe as a turkey lettuce tomato ( which I guess is what we got) I’m usually so full I can’t finish and afternoon tea but in this case we had to go and get more food afterwards. 2 of the cakes were still frozen inside. I told the waitress. She said yes madam we keep them in the fridge. I asked to see the manager. She offered more sandwiches to make up for it then said “ so we good”. That’s summed up the customer service attempts. 2 of the items were missing and when we and other tables complained they eventually came after another 30 minutes when we were ready to leave. An abysmal experience and virgin should be ashamed to be selling such a thing

We are a group of friends who after a long time due to the pandemic had finally found the time and an amazing place to meet and catch up. From the reservation up to the day of our afternoon tea everything was spot on. All the ladies who have assisted and served us was all very lovely and accomodating. We had the bottomless Prosecco afternoon tea which is indeed overflowing. Scones are freshly made along with the pastries and sandwiches. We ordered different teas we fancy and we were served fresh ones everytime we requested. This place is highly recommended and all their staffs are commendable for their high standard of service. Thank you to all who made our day another memorable one.

Very attentive staff, good to see people taking the trouble to check for allergies. Excellent lunch carefully presented and all the more enjoyable for being able to chat to ones companion without the increasingly loud chatter of wine relaxed others close by spoiling the ambience.

The Mayfair Lounge & Grill (formerly Petrichor) has now reopened following Lockdown and a refurbishment and it did not disappoint. Such a warm and friendly welcome from the staff, both in the bar and in the restaurant. The bar area has a piano which was being played by an excellent pianist. The newly decorated restaurant looks great, with clean, modern lines and colours and although it is a large room it is cozy and inviting. The star of the evening though was the food. The newly appointed head chef has produced an excellent and modern menu with something to suit all tastes and the standard and presentation of the food was sublime. The restaurant is in The Cavendish London Hotel and it is definitely the place to go on Jermyn Street.

This is my second visit to the recently re-named Mayfair Lounge and Grill Restaurant (previously Petrichor) at the Cavendish Hotel in Jermyn Street with my parents. The food and staff were all faultless. The reason for giving it a 4/5 and not 5/5 was due to how quiet it is there. The music was also rather odd (we thought it was a mobile tel that someone had left on a table!) and it was quite a 'functional' (as opposed to cosy) setting. Minor quibbles. The food didn't disappoint and the service was fantastic; I especially want to thank Amanda who made such an effort to make us feel welcome both before and during our visit. I thoroughly recommend it - and the location is rather lovely too. It sits right behind the famous Fortnum and Masons' Dept store and is close to all the West End shopping, theatres and bars/restaurants.

Booked via opentable so can't undertand where the blame should be directed to. Turned up to the restaurant after making a reservation and the it was closed. Surely the restaurant can't offer and accept bookings if its closed?

We drove all the way from Surrey had a reservation for dinner, turned up and was told we didn’t have a booking even though I had an email from OpenTable. Very rude manager who didn’t have any customer service skills whatsoever would not recommend this restaurant as you may not even get to dine there. Would not recommend as you maybe wasting your time as their booking system seems not to work.

The low mark for ambience is purely down to coronavirus keeping diners away. The stylish dining room was virtually empty but the food and service were very good. Presentation of dishes was of a high level with the only criticism being that the fish dish was slightly over cooked. The staff were attentive and professional, doing all they could to enhance our experience. We hope to visit again when public confidence improves along with public health. Thank you Petrichor.

The venue was very nice. For the main I chose the pork belly and my girlfriend chose the hake and we were both very satisfied with our choices. In addition, the starters and desserts were also impressive and we shared a bottle of prosecco to wash it down. The service was exceptional. The reception charge my phone while we ate and Kostas and another lady ensured that our experience was a good one. The following day I booked for my parents so that they could have the opportunity to share a similar experience.

Was bought a voucher for a 3 course meal and bottomless prosecco at Christmas, by our lovely granddaughter, and decided to use it, at the end of January, when we arrived we were greeted warmly, by the staff, and seated by a window, as was our preference, we were poured a glass of procesco, and we ordered our meal, my only gripe, was that there was not much choice for each course, we were offered a choice of 3 types of rolls, of which we chose a olive roll, which was warm, however when it got cold, it was very hard, for the starter I chose smoked salmon, and my husband had duck pate, both were nicely presented, plentiful and tasted delicious, main course, we both chose chicken, again tasted fantastic, there was not much choice for dessert so in the end we had a vegan dessert, which was coconut Panna cotta and pineapple, which again was lovely, the service was impeccable, at no time did I see the bottom of my glass, it was fiilled up constantly, we did book in early, so there wasn't many people in the restaurant, I don't know if you get the same topping up service, when they are busy, as I only saw 2 staff on duty, when we were there, but for us, we had a great experience

The staff was very nice but we were disappointed by the quality of the food. We were very confident when we booked our table as we had read the positive reviews of customers and the menu and seen wonderful pictures of fine dishes. The wine was good but the dishes were not worth the price ( we took the goat cheese tortellini, the turkey roulade and the squash risotto). The tortellini were overcooked and fatty. The turkey roulade: the plate was almost only composed of meat (average quality) with only 2 Brussel sprouts and very little chestnut puree. The risotto was ok but no more. The menu was very different from the menu shown here on Tripadvisor. There is a big contrast between the beauty of the place (hotel) and the quality of the restaurant.

I booked the bottomless champagne afternoon tea for my daughter and I after shopping just before Christmas and we had a lovely afternoon. Tea is served in the restaurant which overlooks the side of Fortnum and Mason and provided a peaceful atmosphere away from the busy shops. Service was excellent and the food was very nice although we were not asked if we would like more of anything which has been the case in other hotels I have been to for tea in the past. Top ups of champagne however were extremely generous and all the staff were lovely.

Went for dinner and bottomless Prosecco which I’d bought my sister for her birthday. Thought I was imagining movement at first but when my sister stood and started screaming it was confirmed. Mice were comfortable running around between tables. Tables were set so I dread to think how many were crawling over our table and cutlery before we sat down. We had finished our dinner at this point and given complimentary cocktails. The manager just made excuses. Waiting for a refund that I doubt will come.
