The best restaurants serving British food in London

Perfect place to eat with children on the south bank and really reasonable too. (£6 for pasta and meatballs, fries and broccoli!). I was having a day in London with my 6 year old and stupidly hadn’t brought the plug for my charger, everything was on my phone such as Apple Pay for the tube, and theatre tickets for later etc. so by the time we went for an early dinner I was panicking. The restaurant does have charging ports which is so helpful but I didn’t have my plug. Staff showed me they had portable chargers for £3- perfect. However it didn’t work when I paid! (Nothing to do with the restaurant though) A couple of staff weren’t really sure how to help, but one staff member said he would help me and went to ask his colleagues for a plug for me. One came through and took my phone to charge it. To say I was relieved was an understatement, we stayed for a really nice coffee and dessert after our mains. We were able to enjoy the rest of our special day thanks to their kindness. Really enjoyed the food too. Thankyou!

Eating in the restaurant you will get good fresh food, it’s pretty expensive, a meal for 2 with a few sides and 2 drinks range from £150 -£175. Delivered food is completely different they send you gone off food or that should have been thrown away. I’ve been in the restaurant a number of times, however yesterday was the first time I had ordered for delivery, I thought it had been prepared somewhere else. The special fried rice had gone off prawns,it’s white rice that was harder than bullets, the brisket noodles had fowl smell and lumps of fat. Deliveroo would not issue a refund, so I had to contact the restaurant directly, the majority of the staff were very helpful and tried their best to assist me in getting a refund, however there was an a woman who called me back & and was extremely aggressive & rude her name was goda or something beginning with G. I will never spend a penny with this restaurant again, nor did I get my refund

Muy decepcionante todo el día, la mesa tenía manchas de ketchup endurecido cubriéndola lo que debería haber sido una bandera roja. Pedí la doble hamburguesa de queso americano, que se depositó rápidamente en nuestra mesa, pequeña de lo que esperaba, pero al menos había un escabeche decente, patatas fritas no estamos tan mal, no muchos de ellos, pero la hamburguesa me llenaría (presagio ominoso). Un poco de la hamburguesa fue suficiente, como probar la cera vieja de velas, sabor y textura, la peor hamburguesa que he probado, no imagines que soy un esnob de la comida me encantaría bajar un maccys y disfrutar de un ladrón de vez en cuando. Pero francamente no hay suficiente cerveza barata en la bodega para lavar el sabor de esta horrible hamburguesa. Se levantó y dejó la cosa vil como advertencia al siguiente visitante.

Weitherspoons en Portmouth , fuera de la zona de asientos , se negó a nuestro perro que ok bastante justo dijo que estaba allí política , no se permiten perros pero la camarera era muy grosero, nos habló con una actitud mocosa e incluso fue y canceló el resto de nuestros grupos pedido de comida sin preguntarles si querían quedarse para allí comida . No volveré a comer allí 😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡

Wide choice of draught, craft and bottled beer as well as a varied food menu(not much for vegetarians). Excellent week wide offers as well as weekday afternoon offers👍👍👍 Only negative is that they do not allow pets....even outside which I found negative

Its a great location and fantastic place to spend a day with the family and have a lunch break. But I feel it’s a hit and miss. Today on Eastern monday at 1PM - only 2 people at the hot food buffet and unfortunately 1 payment till open most of the time. 40 min waiting time. I feel it could have been expected and operational managed better. A bit disappointed by the variety of food It’s a level up compared to national trust but it could be better I think - especially with the amount of public you receive throughout the year. Cakes are really good, coffee too. Toilets are average in term of cleaning. Overall the experience of Palace is great.

What a fun pub in Soho. After a morning of seeing the Soho sights (we are from the US), we had lunch at the Red Lion and thoroughly enjoyed the food, atmosphere and the friendly servers. My wife had the Korean chicken and salad with microgreens, and I had the fish fingers sandwich. Very tasty, all. We also had a nice craft beer and glass of wine. The pub was busy at first and then slowed down, and we ended up chatting a bit with the servers, assistant manager, and even the chef who came by on his way out. Shout out to Gabby and Chiclet!

Was hier absolut positiv hervorzuheben ist,ist das es sogar eine glutenfreie Karte gibt. Wer sich ebenfalls mit Nahrungsmittelunverträglichkeiten rum ärgern muss,wird wissen wie froh man über sowas ist. Dennoch muss ich aber sagen das die Qualität der Lebensmittel und die Zubereitung als solches nicht sonderlich hochwertig scheint. Ich würde unser Essen als in Ordnung bezeichnen,ein Highlight war es aber nicht. Wie man es von Flughafen Lokalen/Restaurants eben auch kennt,war es völlig überlaufen und dementsprechend laut. Unsere Bedienung war freundlich,ich habe jedoch auch eine andere Situation mit einem anderen Kellner beobachten können/müssen,der leider nicht sonderlich freundlich zu seinen Gästen war. Dennoch,unser Besuch war in Ordnung als Überbrückung bis zum Flug. Mehr sollte es ja auch nicht sein.

Great food great staff, welcoming and warm atmosphere. Fast service, attentive staff. Would recommend a visit. Fantastic desserts.

We had a family roast for Easter Sunday and I can honestly say we all thought it was the best roast we’ve had in a pub/restaurant. The meat was cooked beautifully, particularly the lamb, any portions we felt were too small (roast potatoes) they topped up with no issues, the roast potatoes were done to absolute perfection! It is expensive, there’s no escaping it; £16 for a couple of portions of bread, £11 for an ice cream sundae, £4 to £5 for a soft drink and £27 for the roast lamb, but we felt it was worth it and the pub both inside and out is tastefully done, and you can’t beat the river views.

I was hier to lunch for a stopp and i have the Fried Buttermilk Cicken Burger with Fries and Pepsi...wery good and friendly personal 😁

Popped into the Barrowboy and Banker for a bite and a pint, and honestly, it was absolutely spot on. The atmosphere had that perfect blend of lively and cosy, bustling but not overwhelming, and full of proper charm. The food.... First-class. Every dish was cooked to perfection, hearty and delicious – just what you'd hope for from a top-notch London pub. It's clear the kitchen knows exactly what they're doing. Service was where it really shone. Sopheena looked after us brilliantly – warm, attentive, and genuinely lovely without being overbearing. She made us feel completely at home. Naveen brought over our food and made sure everything was just right, which it was! Proper good service like that is getting rarer these days, and it really made the visit special. All in all, a cracking afternoon. Cheers to the team, we’ll definitely be back.
