The Silver Cross in City of London, Westminster

Stopped by silver cross for a casual bite and was pleasantly surprised. The chicken wings were crispy on the outside, juicy inside, and tossed in a tangy buffalo hot sauce that had just the right kick. Washed it down with a Paloma, and wow—this wasn’t your average dive bar mix. Fresh grapefruit slice and soda quality tequila refreshing, and dangerously easy to drink. Not too sweet, not too sour—just perfectly balanced. Solid vibe, attentive service. Come for the wings, stay for the cocktails.

Llamamos aquí para bebidas pre-teatro (está justo enfrente del Teatro Trafalgar en Whitehall). Eran las 7 pm de un viernes, y bastante ocupado, así que llegamos directamente al bar. El barman necesitaba estornudar a mitad de la orden y nos hizo la cortesía de tomar una servilleta a la vuelta de la esquina, antes de regresar a terminar nuestras bebidas! Encontramos taburetes de bar en una mesa adyacente, y nos maravillamos con la corriente de turistas que entran y salen, suben y bajan escaleras. 50 para 2 G&Ts.

Traditional pub with a decent lunch menu and some good beers on tap. Some issues with the food but they were resolved without issue. Food is, id say, above average, but for a lunch stop, absolutely no complaints. Big thanks to Ela our server, who was absolutely spot on !!!

Una experiencia muy mixta aquí. La comida era lo suficientemente agradable; no es un mal precio. Pero el servicio no era lo que esperaba de reservar una mesa con servicio de mesa... Cuando me llevaron a mi mesa, me recordaron que sería servicio de mesa y nos señalaron a nuestra camarera (chica pelirroja). El joven que se hizo cargo de nosotros nos dio menús, etc. Luego no tuvimos servidores se acercaron a nosotros durante 30 minutos - ni siquiera para preguntar por una bebida. En este momento, no estaba seguro de adónde había ido nuestra aparente camarera. Decidí ir al bar y pedir nuestra comida / bebidas en este punto. El personal del bar no cuestionó esto, a pesar de saber que había venido de un área de servicio de mesa... Incluso cuando la comida llegó / habíamos comido, ningún servidor nos había hablado en absoluto desde nuestra mesa. La comida fue entregada desde servidores mudos y no había absolutamente ningún contacto con la camarera pelirroja - ella nunca nos sirvió o vino a nuestra mesa una vez! Muy mala atención al cliente y comunicación entre los miembros del equipo.

Pasé un día caminando por Londres y me encontré con esto. Ambiente encantador en el interior, cenamos, y los dos tuvimos pescado con patatas fritas. Probablemente el mejor bocado de pescado que he tenido lejos de un restaurante de pescado con papas fritas. Muy recomendable, buena comida, gran relación calidad-precio, y un ambiente encantador. Sin duda lo intentaré aquí de nuevo.

The Sunday roasts are dishes that are a bit simple, normal. This together with water and beer cost us 48 pounds.

Seems like a legit place to hang out and relax with friends and have a few drinks. Playing good tunes. Unfortunately the burger was dead on arrival and overcooked even for hades himself. I didn’t think London liked hockey very much but they’re definitely serving hockey pucks.

On my way from London to the airport, I decided to have breakfast. I want to eat breakfast somewhere else instead of at the hotel. The pub I passed by the other day had a sign that said they were serving breakfast. I came here to try that. There were no customers inside. When I went to the counter and asked about it, I was told that they would take my order at the counter. It was cold at the entrance, so he asked me to take a seat in the back. I sit in the back seat. Choose a basic set from the breakfast menu. And tea. In England, the tea was delicious no matter where I went. People say that British food is bad, but every restaurant I've been to has been delicious. However, the seasoning is very weak. Japanese food places great importance on the ingredients, and many dishes are not overly seasoned. The food I ate in England was also good quality. I didn't have time to go pub-hopping, but I was able to get a taste of the atmosphere at the end.

Fish and Chips very good in London, the fish had an exaggerated crunch, very crunchy on the outside, soft and cooked on the inside. Highly recommended! The peas and potatoes were normal.

Upon returning to London, I made a beeline for my go-to spot, The Silver Cross. This was my second visit on this trip, and for good reason—it’s easily my favorite place in the city. Even when it’s bustling, the atmosphere is welcoming, with friendly patrons and an outstanding staff. Since I no longer drink, Ela went out of her way to recommend the Estrella Galicia 0.0, which was a great choice. And as always, the food was absolutely delicious. Huge thanks to everyone there!

Was charged £10 service charge because the server sat us down in the TV area then had the nerve to say it does say on the notice on the wall, why sit us there then? Plus £5.50 for a glass of coke from tap.

Surprisingly low amount of people was there, but it’s probably because it was 11 am at Monday. Great place between Big Ben and Trafalgar Square, and low prices. Great English pub atmosphere.

Convenient, central location and, at lunchtimes, surprisingly empty given its location. There were plenty of tables for lunch when I went and plenty of space. The food is ok, typical Greene King pub food menu - reliable and pricey but nothing special

First of all, we would like to thank our friend Sam. His smiling face and caring attitude made me very happy. Of course, we also thank the other employees very much. We enjoyed the delicious snacks and different beers.

For Spanish people, the beer costs around 8 bucks, in my case the Galicia star. They have asked me for my ID 3 times and they still didn't trust me. If you are 21 years old and you have no hair in your beard, you can put up with it. The decorated bar is not bad for that reason, but it is touristy

Ordered ‘house seasoned’ fries for a snack, plain fries arrived. Explained to the server, he then returned with a lump of salt on the fries. Is this a joke!?

Découvert à l'occasion d'une visite de Londres, nous avons été enchanté. Arrivés en plein match de foot, nous avons profité d'une ambiance cordiale et festive. Après avoir trouvé une table de 4 et les serveuses nous ont expliqué le principe du service dans un pub anglais car nous ne le savions pas (commande au bar, règlement dans la foulée...) et ce malgré la charge de travail qu'elles avaient. Fish and chips, burger, Poulet BBQ, nous n'avons pas été déçus et nous remercions encore le personnel pour ce bon moment passé.

We looked into this place as we wanted familur pub grub on a trip from Liverpool to London. As we had 2 children with us we checked if they do a kids menu and It said it does. It was very quiet despite the area being really busy. Very surprised when we arrived to be told they don't do kids food. I told them we'd checked on line, only for a young man behind the bar to say "yeah, well that's wrong!" They'll have to have an adult meal. We had walked a long way so had to go with it as the kids needed food. Each meal was about £16 each I ordered pie chips and peas. Kids and friend had the burger and chips. All meals where Luke warm at best. The pie and chips especially where frankly cold. On any other occasion we'd have complained but we had waited almost an hour to get it. No staff brought us cutlery or came to ask how the meal was, so we just ate it. 2 diet cokes was £9.10! Over all I felt this was a bit of a tourist trap. Bad cold food, very poor service and poor staff attitude. Hope others don't fall for this as there are plenty of traditional pubs in the area offering similar priced food. I usually hone in on a green king as they are generally good, this was the worst we've been too.

Although it's a bit noisy, things are going smoothly. Fish & Chips was very successful despite this intensity. It was fried well without absorbing any oil. There are a wide variety of beverage options. A little loud for conversation.

My wife and I had an unforgettable time at the Silver Cross. The staff's warmth and friendliness made us feel truly special, and the food was nothing short of spectacular. We are eagerly looking forward to our next visit!

The food is not bad but it has no flavor. I tried the fish and chips and honestly, no matter how much lemon and salt I added, I couldn't find a flavor that I liked. It's probably because in Mexico the food is very seasoned and our palate is accustomed to that. But it remains as an experience.

Literally the worst roast I've ever had. Came with chips instead of roasties, beef was overcooked leather, Yorkshire pudding was undercooked and soggy, and the veggies had been all but liquidised

We went here for lunch. When we entered the restaurant, we saw a sign to choose a free table. There were plenty of free tables that were not cleaned, with dirty dishes on them. That made the search for a free table pretty hard. However, we managed to find a small one. You order and pay via smartphone, which worked pretty well. Drinks were served in time. The main course for the food as well. Unfortunately our starter was served 10 minutes after we finished our main course. Usually I would have canceled this order, but as we already had paid this was no option. After we finished the starter, we were able to leave the pub quickly. A good side effect of paying online :)

Stoped in for a late lunch. We had the fish and chips, and they were excellent, as was the Halumi flat bread sandwich. Also had the nachos, and they were also excellent! Different type of chips used, which made an interesting nacho!

It takes 1 hour to serve the food

We have been waiting to be served for 1.5 hours and when we ordered we learned that 80% of the menu was out of stock. After going to the counter twice to recall our order, a waitress came to explain to us that the wait was normal due to the crowd. The rooms are huge but can be filled and with few people eating. Finally we were finally served after 1 hour 45 minutes of waiting. Our plates with industrial products were reheated in the microwave: everything is bagged: potatoes, carrots, turkey breast (sold as Christmas turkey, only that remained on the menu). A shame! Flee

Went here to have a lunch on the New Years Eve. We didn’t notice that kitchen opens at 12pm. Made the order 11.45 and the really nice waitress took order and the payment. She didn’t know either before her colleague came and said that kitchen is not open yet and cancelled our order. We left somewhere else but never got those money back in the bank account. Very poorly handled situation.

Went here one evening and it said outside that there was good fish and chips. There is no service inside the store; you have to order and pick up everything yourself. The waiters are unfriendly and don't want to do their job. There was almost nothing available from the menu and even the drinks were denied. However, the fish and chips that were praised outside were not available outside at all. Bad loading and not recommended!

We received a warm welcome. I had pre-booked and the table was ready. The waiter was friendly and had good customer service skills. The menu, which was for Christmas was varied and reasonably priced. The beers were expensive but London prices. Our food arrived quickly but we had to chase the drinks order. Apparently, someone had thrown the ticket away. The location was perfect for us.

the food was okay, however this does not make up for waiting 45mins for just 6 drinks.

We got two holiday toasties which came with roasties. The potatoes were inedible, so dried out and the gravy (which was nice) couldn’t help. The sandwich was so overcooked on the other side it was difficult to cut through. The hour long wait for food didn’t help. Our money was wasted here.
