Absolutely fantastic Sunday roast. I love brisket, but the gravy, Yorkie, and cauliflower cheese were even better

Stopped off for a Sundsy morning breakfast and was pleasantly surprised whagt. good visit we had. A traditional large, spacious and clean cafe with out door seating perfect for sunny weather. i had the halloumi, sujuk, egg & tomato breakfast and it was delicious. So much so I’ll be back for the same for the good value and generous portions. Friendly table and counter service, clean toilets and a good pit stop if you are near Petts Wood Railway Station

Came for lunch at 1pm on the Bank Holiday Monday, ordered drinks and got a high chair. Tried to order food a few minutes later for my toddler while we decided what we wanted; to be told A) they don’t do half the kids menu that I had looked up online and B) the kitchen was temporarily closed while she covered the bar. I asked how long food would be as my child needed to eat soon, and was told 20 minutes. My family then decided what we wanted and I tried to order about 10 minutes later to be then told the kitchen was still closed she couldn’t take our order. Clearly food would then be longer than 20 minutes. Would have been nice to have been told we couldn’t get food when I asked for the highchair as we wouldn’t have wasted our time or money on drinks and just gone somewhere else which we ended up doing anyway, but now with a very grumpy child. Have been coming to this pub for 25 years and the service has never been so poor.

🚇 Island Gardens 🍺 £5.30 Amstel The Lord Nelson is located opposite, the old Millwall fire station at the southern tip of The Isle of Dogs in the East End of London. The nearest station is Island Gardens on the DLR. The pub was built in 1855 by wine merchant Henry Johnson, whose family ran an ironworks in Ferry Street. Notably, this pub is famous for being part of the history of Millwall Football Club. Between 1886 and 1890, Millwall home games were played at The Lord Nelson Ground, which was situated behind the Lord Nelson pub on East Ferry Road. The pub received a makeover early last year and now looks smarter with a more contemporary look and feel, while still retaining its traditional character. The servery is situated on the right-hand side, with the bar area forming an “L” shape around it. There is plenty of seating throughout, and you'll find a pool table and dartboard at the back, along with a courtyard beer garden at the rear. The beer selection features a lineup of familiar keg favorites and one cask ale. I chose an Amstel; my pint hit the spot, price point was reasonable at just over a fiver. As a wet-led pub, it doesn’t serve food, but plenty of bar snacks are available if you're peckish. We arrived just after 5 pm on a showery Saturday afternoon in October with my brother and fellow pub enthusiast and local Islander @booze_house_tales. On arrival, the pub was fairly busy with a friendly local crowd. The atmosphere was upbeat, and most of the regulars were gathered around the bar and pool table. The service was great; the team member who served us was welcoming and courteous This pub shows live sports on Sky Sports and TNT Sports, and hosts Dj and Karaoke nights. Great to see that the @lordnelsonmilwall is still going strong since my last visit in 2018. This pub has retained its soul and still serves the long time locals who frequent this East End boozer. Reasonably priced pints, excellent service and a friendly local pub atmosphere make for a top London pub experience. 📅 12th October 2024 More London pub info on Socials @londonpubmap 🍻
