The best restaurants serving British food in London

Came here for a takeaway after hearing the place was under new management, so wanted to give it a try. The fish and chips was really nice, the batter was nice and thin and tasted relatively healthy. I would like to come back

Went to chippey to night food was excellent but when you go in and there’s no one in front of you ,you expect to wait no more than 25 minutes Uber upon Uber come in and pick up orders no problem but please tell the walk in customers you may have to wait up to 45 minutes plus not what I call traditional

Di passaggio vicino la torre di Londra ci siamo fermati in questo ristorante che serve dei buoni hamburger, si ordina e paga alla cassa ma si viene serviti al tavolo. Il personale è molto gentile ed il servizio veloce. Prezzi buoni

He visitado el salón oval en varias ocasiones, siempre termina los días de semana. El personal es genial y muy agradable, las hamburguesas son tan buenos que querrás otra enseguida. El único fallo ha sido, cada vez, la larga espera. Por el momento la hamburguesa venía tanto mi amigo y yo habíamos terminado la bebida y pedimos otro.

We came here for a special dinner because of its concept and because St John is undoubtedly a London institution. I’m not usually one to leave reviews less than 5 stars, but I think the service here leaves a little to be desired. The first thing is you’re offered still or sparkling water. We ordered still, and realised this was charged and that tap water was very much an option too (but not an option we were given, and which we would have taken). The food however is delicious and interesting - the chicken liver pate was a stand out for me, it was some of the best pate I’ve ever had. We ordered some mains but unfortunately were quite full from the day so left about 80% of the food (I legitimately took a bite from the two dishes and that was it). It was delicious though, and I was keen to take it home and also not waste it - for ethical but of course budget conscious reasons. I asked the wait staff if I could have the food for take away because we were too full to finish it, and unfortunately they misinterpreted as have it taken away from the table, and threw it out. This was super disappointing; I’ve worked in hospitality myself and I can appreciate the term “take away” could be confusing, but if I saw that much food left on a plate I would have offered for it to be packed too, notwithstanding having that requested. The waitstaff kindly offered us complimentary madeleines on the house (which are once again delicious) but also why offer more food when we’ve just said we’re too full? We ate about one each. Of course we could have come here with emptier stomachs but sometimes and perhaps we will if we come back again. The service charge was taken off our bill (which is ultimately a gratuity anyway?); but I left feeling pretty short changed for a bill that ended up being £120 or so. I would have much preferred to have something taken off the bill, like our drinks, instead. It was ultimately the wait staff who messed up, but we were left with the sour taste in our mouths. From reading other reviews, it seems like service is a recurring issue.

Only been there for drinks, but atmosphere was excellent!

Starters and wine were good, but we were disappointed by the mains. One was nothing special and the other was not at all to our taste and quite unpleasant. We didn’t finish either. Definitely not what we were expecting in terms of quality. Looks like it closes down next week anyway, but we couldn’t work out what the hype has been about.

One of the most disappointing experiences in London. The waiter could not have been more rude or unhygienic.

Este lugar era excepcional. Nos encantó el paseo por el callejón hasta el restaurante. Nos sentamos rápidamente, pero el lugar es pequeño, así que modera las expectativas. Mucha gente estaba afuera agarrando una pinta después del trabajo. La comida era excepcional. Muy recomendable

Great selection of beers. It was rammed when I was there on a Friday evening. But more space upstairs and I had a decent Pad Thai

Consistently great… friendly service, good food, dogs welcome, plenty of room inside and outside - our favourite Twickenham pub by far. There’s also a private dining room which is ideal for informal lunch or dinner parties.

The Beer was cold 🍺❄️ The staff were very friendly 😊 The atmosphere was 🎉🥳🎈🎊 My kinda pub

It was a really busy evening but the service we received from Teresa and Chris was outstanding. As we left they called us back to the table. They had heard it was my brother’s birthday and bought out ice cream with a candle. The children loved it!!!! Such an enjoyable evening. Special thanks to them both
