The quality of dishes was really inconsistent. We went for a la carte and ordered 2 amuse bouches, 3 starters and 2 mains and honestly only a third of the dishes were good (and not exceptional). All dishes with seafood were disappointing. Service was not good either, it took quite a while for our order to be taken and the wait between dishes was long. The servers were not really friendly or attentive. Ambiance was also very average. The kitchen lights were too bright for my partner who was facing the kitchen. Overall, overhyped and not worth the money.

I’m baffled by the hype surrounding this restaurant. Despite its stellar reputation, the food was disappointingly mediocre. Aside from the liver toast, everything else fell flat—the salad was poorly prepared with oversized, unchopped leaves and a bland taste, the soup resembled a bowl of oily water, and the main was nothing more than what a home cook with a year’s experience could manage. The cocktail was underwhelming as well. Service was inconsistent; some servers were attentive, while other staff showed little interest—except when presenting the bill. Speaking of which, the total came to well over a couple hundred pounds. Frankly, I’m astonished.

An amazing restaurant, don’t get me wrong. The dishes were interesting, delicious and simple at the same time. We loved the drinks as well. A beautiful space in a not so beautiful neighbourhood. The only issue was the prices, which i feel were outlandish. Other than that, the service was impeccable.

We were looking for a special experience. It was a special date. Michelin Star. One of the 50 best in the world... That's not what we found. The Tasting Menu is full of unusual things: guinea fowl, monkey fish, poached egg with broccoli leaves, ... But unusual doesn't mean good or tasty. The different flavors have no depth. It's as if something is missing, some seasoning, some adjustment. In all the dishes... as if the chef was trying to mix flavors he doesn't know well... as if he forgot one last detail... always the feeling that something was missing. None of the dishes served were above average. Nothing very good, nothing excellent or unforgettable. The atmosphere is informal, tables without tablecloths, relaxed... The service is attentive and discreet, but with a jovial, relaxed style. After leaving a lot of money at dinner, we asked the "hostess" to kindly call us a taxi. I tell you to go to the nearby corner where many people pass by, just wave... Just like the food: something is missing...it's in the details that the difference is made. Conclusion: the hype is better than the experience. The food, location and service don't justify the star rating, nor all the hype. Instead of spending a fortune on this experience, there are hundreds of better, more economical restaurants where they will certainly call you a taxi if you ask...

Every dish was phenomenal. However, I had to take one star off due to the bad service. It seemed like there was a hiccup with the order in the kitchen. The waiters came back multiple times to check what had been served and what hadn’t, and we also had to chase up our drinks order.

Chose this place for a Valentine’s Day dinner, but both my partner and I ended up with severe food poisoning. We ate nothing unusual that day, so we’re certain it came from this restaurant. When I reported it, my concerns were ignored for a while. After multiple follow-ups, they promised an investigation but did nothing. In the end, they denied responsibility—no apology, no refund. Shockingly, friends later told me they had the same experience here a year ago. This place clearly has food safety issues. Avoid at all costs!

The best restaurant in London imo. We ordered so many dishes, and not a single one let us down (okay maybe the sheep milk ice cream was a bit more testing)which is actually quite rare. Favourite was definitely the Raw Hereford Rib, Hen of the Woods & Ramson Capers. Despite how good the food is, the restaurant feels casual and not pompous which is nice.

Compared to many other Michelin star restaurants I've been to, Lyle's was sadly below par and had no particular 'wow' factor - neither in food, service or ambience. The room was quite cold for a Jan below freezing temperature evening, the service was just ok (e.g., we weren't given any small plates with starters) and the food was comparable to a nice restaurant but not a Michelin star one. The bread was served cold, butter almost frozen solid, and none of the dishes were particularly memorable. Overall a nice evening out but that's about it.

What a disappointing experience. Poor service, food average and fleeced for wines by the glass. I was left standing at the entrance for 5 minutes. You don't mind paying a lot for main courses that deliver but this was just above average bistro fare. I was excited by having goose because it has been a while but it was just bland. My companion's scallops were too salty. Sometimes you just despair for the advice given by the michelin guide. Apropos bistro, the set-up makes you feel like you have arrived in a local bistro, tables so close that privacy is not an option. I was appalled by the price I was paying for a glass of average Chablis. I didnt even think to ask how much it would be, thinking it would be between 10 and 20 quid. Essentially 5 glasses of wine were nearly double the food cost. Even for London, thats just outrageous pretentious nonsense. On leaving they had no idea where the coats were and took an age to find them. This is not Michelin star service. Avoid at all costs! If you can tear yourself away from shoreditch just cross over to barbican and try st barts for a much better experience

Definitely one of the best experiences I had in London. The food was incredible, my personal favourite was the fish and the gazpacho. The desserts were great and the vegan one for me was mind blowing as I usually find them to lack flavour. We also did the wine pairing as well and thought it added so much to the experience. The only thing to improve I’d say is the timing, the wait especially in the beginning was a bit long and dinner ended up lasting a long time too.

Gracias.

Lyle's, nestled in the heart of Shoreditch, is a Michelin-starred gem known for its seasonal and inventive tasting menus. During my visit, the menu was a celebration of summer, offering a vibrant exploration of fresh, dynamic flavors and textures. The meal began with the refreshing Summer Vegetables & Smoked Eel. The smokiness of the eel perfectly complemented the sweetness of the summer vegetables, creating a delightful interplay of flavors. If you like mackerel, then you would've loved the Mackerel & Gooseberry Toast. The richness of the mackerel was balanced by the tartness of the gooseberries and completed well with the suggested Riesling pairing. Next, the Tomato Gazpacho, Melon & Marigold delivered a refreshing twist on the classic gazpacho. The melon’s sweetness played off the acidity of the tomatoes, while marigold petals added a whimsical floral note. The Pollack, Artichokes & Preserved Lemon was equally impressive, with tender, flaky pollack paired wonderfully well with briny artichokes. The Duck, Beetroot & Pickled Green Fig was the star of the evening with texture and flavor. The duck was cooked to perfection—succulent and tender—while the earthy beetroot and tarty pickled fig created a vibrant explosion of flavors. The Fig Leaf Ice Cream, Blackberries & Meringue was a delightful and refreshing end to the meal. It had a unique and subtle flavor, while the blackberries added a touch of tartness and the meringue provided a delightful textural contrast. Overall, Lyle's offered a truly memorable dining experience. Their dedication to fresh, seasonal ingredients and inventive flavor pairings was evident in every course. Highly recommended for those seeking a unique and delicious exploration of modern British cuisine.

We had a great evening at Lyles. We did a taster menu with paired drinks. One of us had the wine and regular menu and the other had the vegetarian menu with paired kombucha which was a very interesting option. We had great service, efficient warm and friendly. We had delicious food. Cucumber gazpacho was a big highlight. Of slight disappointment was the dessert. A damson ice-cream with other bits but elements of the fish were very chewy. The decor was cool, stripped back and elegant but actually for a long meal like we had I probably prefer a softer more comfortable seat. We ready enjoyed our evening.

We booked this as a special meal however left quite disappointed for the price point. We’ve been to quite a few Michelin star restaurants in London for special occasions and this had been on our list for a while so had higher hopes, and the standard of food was not there compared to others. I’ve give 2 stars for the food, not that some of it wasn’t tasty, however for 5 courses for £100+ we were expecting a lot more bold flavours and larger portions. For example, the bread course was counted as one of the courses whereas in other restaurants this is an added extra. We also only had one oyster each for this course, I would expected several for a Michelin. The pudding felt disappointing and didn’t have much flavour. The service was very good and very friendly with attention to detail. The tables were close together which muted the atmosphere. I don’t normally write reviews however given the price point we thought important to share.

It's a mystery to me why this restaurant should be in the top 50. It was by far the worst experience in a star restaurant. High-quality ingredients are used and some combinations are interesting, but there can be no question of taste explosions and the presentation is loveless, as is the service... Amazing atmosphere, impeccable service & food with massive flavour explosion. Great wine & cocktail selection too. Reason I'm giving this place 4 stars is that I don't think it's quite worth the price tag & whilst the food was incredibly tasty, I didn't feel it blew my mind compared to some of the other fine dining experiences I've been to. From the online booking we ticked vegetarian and pescatarian, assuming we would both have the veggie menu on their website, but upon arrival were amazed that a pescatarian option was available for us, menus were ready for our arrival and all staff were aware of our diets / the special occasion. The food, wine and service were faultless and it was such a special time. It all felt like a very well oiled machine, with cute little touches like a birthday card signed by all of the staff. Disappointing experience. Went for dinner with the set menu. 1. Tiny portions (1 oyster, 1 tiny pork skewer, 2 small fried tomatoes, 3 pieces of asparagus, 1 small cut of monkfish) We were stuffing ourselves with bread in between courses because service was slow between plates even though it would take a diner all of 10 seconds to finish what’s on the plate 2. Taste - appetizers were good albeit tiny, but the asparagus was god awful bitter and sour and pungent, the monkfish was not a tasty endeavor, the oyster and granita is a silly combo (who wants frozen dressing on their oyster?!) Was itching to leave by the end of the mains. Server must have noticed because we were not able to finish our bitter mains but still found the courage to try and upsell the cheeseboard. And later the teas and coffees. Not the most graceful sales move when people are not having a good time. 2 stars is generous, benefit of doubt that maybe my palate isn’t suited to daily menu I had and on another day it could be amazing. But I’ve been to other brilliant set menus and fallen in love so I’ll leave you with a cliche; it’s not me, it’s you!

Nice balanced menu. Each course a nice size so when you finish your meal you are satisfied not stuffed. No weak courses and lots of highlights. Quality of the beef dish has to get a mention though along with bread and marmalade ice cream. We had the wine pairing which was nice and the sommelier very knowledgeable. The only reason to downgrade my mark was the connection between wine being served and food needs to sharpen up. Too many occasions where we are looking at wine and waiting for food or visa versa. We did not get to try to food there due to issue with the booking. However, they were really accommodating and referred us to another restaurant. The wine we had there was amazing.

Neither the quality of the ingredients nor cooking were good. Despite of the ridiculous high price level and service charge, we helped ourselves with water and wine. Quite disappointed.

Had dinner and liked the place in general. The ingredients are clearly up to the standards, the meals were cooked spectacularly well and each of the courses were rich in flavor and still balanced in taste. The wine selection is also superb. Yet, I am deducting a star because of the sand residue in the oyster and the overuse of anchovies in the main course. I also asked for still water and got sparkling water in a still water container. Here is the menu and my scores for each: Carlingford Rock Oyster & Tomato: 2/5 (mentioned sand residue) Raw Hereford Beef Tart: 3/5 (tasted great but its texture was off because of the sheer amount of the raw beef. Tart was not enough to save its texture) Chicory, Apple & Pevensey Blue: 5/5 (Simply amazing. Delicious cheese, chicory cooked perfectly, and apple complemented the dish very well) Tema Artichoke, Bottarga & Preserved Lemon: 5/5 (Perfect in all taste, texture and presentation) White Asparagus, Walnuts, Anchovies & Spenwood: 4/5 (Very tasty but anchovies overshadowed the dish, throwing off its balance) Guinea Fowl, Brassicas & Wild Garlic: 4/5 (Brassicas were splendid. They blended so well with the garlic it blew my mind. Unfortunately, I cannot say the Guinea Fowl was seasoned enough) Ricotta Ice Cream, Rhubarb and Magnolia: 5/5 (I cannot imagine a better dessert for this dinner. Rhubarb and Magnolia gave it a unique flavor that some people could find too aromatic. The ice cream was also spectacularly well made, not too heavy in sugars with just the right texture served at just the right temperature)

Eaten here a few times in the last year or two. Genuinely excellent cooking, ingredients and service. You’ll get a superb meal here that is full of detail and it’s a great dining room. Good value for what it delivers as well in my opinion.

Culinary experience of the highest level, chosen vegetarian menu which I attach. A growth of flavours, explosion of taste, quality and love for the ingredients that become food. Final with two exceptional desserts that make you leave smiling. Good range of wines, excellent bread, attentive, friendly and professional service. Very nice to see the team of young chefs working. Price not trivial, but the experience is worth what you spend. Recommended, Michelin star I would say well deserved

We had such a great evening here last week on a 1 night layover in London. A friend had recommended this spot as having great food but in a casual laid-back atmosphere and that is exactly what we found. The food delivered across every course and was delivered in a set-menu. We ordered a few bottles of wine and the 'optional' cheese course. If there was anything negative, I found the chairs to be a bit uncomfortable and the sauce on the oysters to overwhelm the natural flavors of the oyster. Standouts were the turbot & white asparagus and the beef dish. Also, the stichelton (on the cheese menu) was delish. The "simple" things - like the homemade sourdough bread and oat crackers (with the cheese) were absolutely delicious and homemade as well. I can't wait to come back on another visit!

Perfection. This was my first time trying Michelin starred / fine dining, so I had high expectations, but I was blown away by the whole experience! The food, the service and the atmosphere - perfect. I highlight recommend the wine pairing You really need to come here to really grasp the level this place is at.

We had a wonderful meal at Lyle's, the tasting menu was excellent (pictured is the Hereford forerib, utterly delicious). As a celiac sufferer I was incredibly grateful for the gluten-free adaptations, it is fantastic not to have "gluten-free by omossion" as happens in far too many other places. Service was warm and friendly, and my mocktails were excellent. I'll be back.

Food was really good! And service too needless to say. But gotta say it’s quite pricey and portions were for sharing. Since portions were small, you’ll have to order quite a few dishes to be full which adds up to the bill.

Be respect to the most kindness, warm and focus on detailed services from Mr Pablo, Daniel and the team. And for sure, the atmosphere, the taste of the each section, as I also I want to highlight the best dishes “Raw Orkney Scallop”, excellent excellent excellent. Definitely will recommended to our friends if drop by London. And we must come back later.

The food is good but the rude challenge about using the toilet facility both before and after using the toilet left a very foul taste.

Discovered this little gem whilst on a trip to London. Light and airy with a contemporary decor and friendly atmosphere. Excellent menu - perfect for lunch - the food is all freshly prepared and cooked to a very high standard. Very reasonable prices too! They also cater for functions so would be ideal for this. I'll be back next time I'm in London to try sample more from the menu. Decent wine for me and good range of beers for my husband.

Clearly understaffed, although there were only about 6 people in the restaurant, still managed to take 30 mins just to produce 2 cokes… waited 45 mins for food before giving up.
