Delightful spot with some really tasty food and drinks

My go-to London pub whenever I’m in town. Delivers on drinks, atmosphere and price — but the food is also great and should *not* be overlooked, particularly if you’re after something a little more elevated than standard pub eats.

This place had a great revamp. Lovely local spot, full and buzzing most days!! Great ambience and vibes, gathers good crowds. As well as beer, they have a great selection of wines. Burgers were yummy and service was good. Definitely coming back!

Unfriendly staff, I don’t recommend. There is a lot of better places around. I can’t recommend and I am surprised how people can give 5 stars reviews.

So happy this pub has been taken over, everything is great. We’ve been several times including for a bday party, after work drinks and the roasts; each time we’ve been really impressed. The drinks are excellent; both beer and wine lists are impressive and good value. The food is amazing; very high quality pub fare. The roasts are fantastic, I can’t pick a fave! Both porchetta and the beef were great today, as was the sticky toffee pudding! From the normal menu all the snacks are lovely (esp the crumpet and the mackerel pate) and the burger is also 10/10. Lastly, the service and vibes are very cool. Yes there are lots of trendy wines and beers but the atmosphere is chilled and unpretentious. The pub is noisy & lively on a Thursday or Friday night but then super relaxed (& dog and child friendly) on a Sunday. The staff are friendly, helpful and happy to answer questions about the food or drinks. As I said at the start, couldn’t be happier that this is our new local!

Renovation looks good, might be back for a pint but stay clear of the roasts. Living nearby so wanted to try the newish local but left feeling very underwhelmed. Roasts took under 10 minutes to land on our table which might have been ok if they were warm. We shared a chicken and one of our party ordered the beef. The beef was cold. The vegetables were hard and undercooked. Gravy was watery. Chicken came whole, still with butchers twine holding legs together and I had to ask for a knife to start carving. Carving at the table was uncomfortable and awkward with a small serrated steak knife. Advice to management - Invest is some decent carving utensils if you’re going to leave it up to guests. Overpriced.

Great roast, nice atmosphere, kid and dog friendly. Highly recommend the mussels on toast as a snack. Will defo be back.

Had my bday here for 20+ people, excellent atmosphere and service

I booked a private dining room for drinks and lunch with friends and we all had a great time. Delicious food - generous portions, great selection of beer, lovely, and friendly helpful staff. The pub itself is a wonderful 19th century corner pub and has a friendly atmosphere. Highly recommend!

Lovely pub that has risen from the ashes after Covid. The best pint of Guinness I've had in London (and NOT Guinness Cold). A large selection of good wine. The food menu is short and really focussed. The Randang curry was terrific and the burger unctuous and savoury as hell. The service was super friendly and extremely professional. Will be going again! My new favourite boozer.

Thankfully they accepted a small group last minute Christmas lunch reservation. Limited choice but the food was great and very generous portions. Lee and the team are lovely. Music is not so loud so you can still hear one another talking. Recommended.

Really nice atmosphere open fire not too many people

My local. I don’t manage to visit as often I would like to, but it’s a really nice pub. Very friendly people, fairly reasonable prices considering the location, nice room and decor. And the cheeseburger is pretty solid.

This used to be a run down pub with no clients. Now they've done a really nice refurbishment and the place is completely transformed. Great selection of beers. Food looks good although haven't tried it yet. The place is packed on Fridays and Saturdays, with people overflowing on the street. Other days is relatively empty, so it's nice to have a quiet cost drink at the bar (it's always nice to have bar stools and a nice long bar area).

Lovely pub! Great ambience for a quiet drink depending on when you go, excellent food, great wine and beer selection, and friendly to both animals and tiny humans.

We love this new pub which has just re-opened on our road. Great bar and fab selection of wines and whiskies, haven’t tried much food but what I’ve nibbled at was lovely and slightly different to typical pub grub. Will be our new local favourite

Had an amazing Sunday roast yesterday ( Pancetta).. great to see this new pub in the area.

The best roast we've had in months!, this new local boozer is a welcome addition to the community. Great drinks, music, staff and now roasts! couldn't fault this place.

Our party of 10 had incredible sunday roasts and drinks from the varied wine list. We also booked the upstairs for our Christmas party, I'd recommend the new local boozer to anyone. A must visit! A++++

It's clear to see new owners have taken over. The place is clean and and refreshing. A breath of fresh air from when I previously visited a few years back. Not a wide variety on the menu but what we did have was delicious. Nice friendly atmosphere made a nice day.

Lovely to see this place open again. Traditional corner pub at the end of a Georgian terraced street. Happy to see real ale (3 handpumps) as well as a large selection of keg/craft and lagers. Good fridgeful of interesting looking cans and bottles also. Huge wine list and food served. See pics. Lovely staff and a great atmosphere with plenty of outside seating. Seems very popular even though only open for 2 weeks so far!

Great pub, large windows for plenty of light, cozy, friendly and easy to find! One of my favourite places.

Nice location just off the most beaten track, a few crafty beers but we were surprised that they charged, a lot, for glasses of soda water for the folk who weren't on the beers.

Information online is not accurate. I read reviews mentioning Sunday roast and as I got here the place was closed. Please update the information online, it is critical nowadays! Also the menu is not accessible online, I took a couple pictures from the one in the door.

Actually it's a nice pub.. I've been there couple of times. Would love to give 5stars but it's always empty. Food is sometimes not available. That's a shame.

Such a cozy bistro pub with lots of space for relaxing or meetings. Good variety of food and drinks. Maya, the Landlady makes everyone feel so welcome and almost like at home. Highly recommend!

Hotellet ligger hyfsat bra, med gångavstånd till tunnelbana och för en rimlig peng ingår frukost. Ett typiskt billigt engelskt hotell med sliten standard. Var inte bemannat när vi bodde där, och baren/restaurangen var stängd. Fick vänta en del innan vi blev insläppta vid incheckning, och när termostaten i ena elementet gick sönder var det inte lätt att komma i kontakt med någon som kunde åtgärda.

Popped on on the offchance that I could get Sunday roast after 4pm. Shouldn't have worried. Roast half-chicken and suitable veg (with special chef's chicken gravy) was superb, and then went for the apple crumble and custard. Also superb, and all, for this area of London, at very reasonable prices. Quiet at this time of day, but only a 5 or min walk from Old Street and well worth a visit.

Smart pub with friendly staff and a good range of real ales on tap. Including my personal favourite Yakima Red!

We visited this pub when they had a live band playing just before Easter. Great atmosphere, the food looked delicious and the staff are friendly and helpful. I've since heard good things about their Open Mic nights, so I'm looking forward to a return visit

A great atmosphere with cool live music every monday evening

Whilst it's a lovely pub, the staff are really nice and I consider it my local, I wish the menu hadn't changed. It's not their fault. The place has from what I've been told, changed hands three times Fingers crossed the chef there who is good gets more control re menu and comes back with the old menu that features so many nice things! Fingers crossed

Recommend visiting on a Sunday afternoon, the roast for 2 is fabulous. (the carrot mash is amazing)

Great pub with a living room atmosphere!

Came here to watch the Ireland France match, Ireland lost... Though the pub is great, nice atmosphere, a place where you can have a chat and play boardgames. Staff are top quality and if you are looking for a local this is a good spot. One issue was that it was a bit chilly!

This pub has been turned around by the enthusiastic and friendly team who now manage it. Something going on most evenings and one of the best venues in the area for a proper Sunday roast cooked by a very competent chef. On Friday nights with DJ Billy it's the place to be even if you have no dancing shoes. So comfortable and relaxed, you could turn up in your pyjamas and nobody would bat an eyelid. A function room upstairs for those who want to party privately.

Awesome Roast and epic value. Definitely coming back. Would be a 6 out of 5 with a Beavertown or Kernel on tap....

W IV har en utmärkt frukostmeny; tradition och nytänkande i en bra kombination. Full frukost eller bananbröd och mycket mer; bara att välja. Dessutom riktigt trevlig och charmig personal. För oss som gillar Hipster-stilen är detta ett måste-ställe. Men även för andra som vill ha en avkopplande frukost är detta ställe som vi varmt rekommenderar.

Been going to this pub for over 30 Years and have seen many changes. Went here today for Sunday lunch and it was great. Sharing roast for two got us a whole chicken along with loads of delicious roast potatoes and plenty of veg. Well cooked and good quality food, no room for dessert. Bargain price £25 for both of us, will be back soon.

We were actually heading to another pub in the area, but liked the look of this one so popped in. Had a couple of drinks (genuine Pilsen lager), a burger each and a portion of chips to share. Food was very good and obviously cooked to order which is always a good sign. Another customer recommended the chips when I was ordering and he was right – they were very good (real potato, skin on). Would certainly spend time there again when in the area.

Don't be put off by its slightly shabby look, this is a great place to have a lazy Friday lunch with mates, without spending a fortune. Great imaginative grub and a great range of beers and ciders. Very relaxed atmosphere with great friendly service. Décor is very homely not at all precious, forget table cloths this is a good honest place where you can enjoy and have fun.

My wife and I are staying in the area while we look for a permanent place to live in London. This pub is on a quiet neighborhood corner and has a traditional look and feel of a real English pub. First of all, the beer selection is varied and very good. Second, the welcome has a very small town feel and we felt like we knew a bunch of people in there after just two visits. Finally, the food... I know there is a burger madness going on in London right now. This burger at William IV was near the best I have ever had. They grind their own beef on site, and it was perfectly cooked with a grilled bun. Just enough pickles and served on a wooden plank. We haven't tried their other food, but the menu looks very interesting and they have a creative and talented chef. The Sunday roast menu is also interesting and would definitely qualify as a high quality gastropub experience. Furthermore, this is a speakeasy that does not have blaring, giant TVs everywhere. Not the place to go if you demand large screen UK Premier League 24/7. All in all, a warm, welcoming place with good management by the host, Max.

First, let me say that I have NEVER visited this pub - but I certainly shall be going there soon. Why? Because on Sunday, 21st December, they will be feeding Christmas Lunch to homeless and hungry people. And that deserves a five-star review if anything does. Please check the pub out on Twitter and get the word out - more pubs and restaurants should pick up the idea and run with it in their local areas. Hopefully TripAdvisor will allow this review to stand even though it is somewhat unusual.

New ownership has done wonders, great selection of beers & a unique pop up providing scrummy food, worth the trek

Not the cheapest, but a decent pub. Would possibly have got give stars of the music wasn't turned up so loud towards the end of the night.

Within a few hours, while I was catching up with an ex-colleague/friend after work, this place has transformed from a quiet non-very-busy pub into a lively and buzzing spot with loud music and candles on the tables. Their selection of beers and ales wasn't huge, but what they had to offer was very good. Oh, and they have free WiFi. I really liked this place and would definitely come again ;) Although I feel that the later the evening was progressing, the louder the music was played, which made it difficult to talk.

The pub is in an old building, very nice and typical. Was there for a group diner so we ended up in a room upstairs, away from the crowd. As a result, the room was kind of chilly, but ok. The food was really good, even though the service could have been better: it was kind of slow, forgot to get some of the drinks and they weren't exactly nice. But the food and the beer were good!

I used to really like this place and then the management changed - the new manager is an absolute misery and has really put me off. The food's gone down hill too.

The William IV is a really lovely pub. It's decorated really nicy and has a friendly and warm atmosphere. The food is gastropub grub - good value dinner and a bit nicer than your average pub tea, but in a really relaxed setting.

A lot of love has gone into this place to make it just so. Worth a visit.
