The Compasses Harvester in Havering

After waiting 25 mins for a breakfast that I had SPECIFICALLY asked the waitress for a 'hot breakfast' it came cold, the only hot item being the egg. I sent it back to wait a long time for same plate of food to return having been heated on the grill. Plate of food now overheated and clearly inedible .showed to waitress who suggested the manager be sent over. Manager wasn't interested and said they didn't replace meals with fresh there.my point being it wasn't my fault and i'd specifically asked for a hot meal so why should I now eat a overcooked reheated one, my partner also practically finished hers. Manager then chose to remonstrate with us on our exit that she had received our complaint and she will be answering it and now saying she hadn't said it was not their policy and basically calling us liars, no apology offered. I will go to a cafe for breakfast from now on and tell all my friends and family to avoid.

Had dinner at harvester with my friend. The food n waitress were lovely. The waitress was very attentive and would def go back i didnt get her name.

Had a lovely meal in Hornchurch Harvester, salad bar was well stocked and fresh. Chicken triple and supply chicken meals were cooked perfectly. Dan was our server and was very efficient. Lovely to see so many friendly faces.

Have just enjoyed a lovely lunch and get together with some girlfriends. The place was quite busy but we were greeted by very friendly staff and shown to our table. Our waitress Sarah was delightful, had the same silly sense of humour as we did and was the highlight of our visit!!

Our server was very polite, but it was clear she was under a lot of pressure as there was a large party in our section. We waited 15 mins after being seated before being offered drinks.

This is by far my favourite harvester. Chris was our server and he was absolutely amazing!! Very friendly, very efficient and I hope you look after this man, staff like him need to be kept and are rare in the hospitality world these days!! Thank you for looking after us!!!

We just went out for a family meal tonight and the service we received was amazing our waiter will (William) was absolutely amazing he was really friendly and so welcoming was so lovely we need more will’s in this industry we really do well done will ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Convenient parking. Immediate acknowledgement upon entry. Freshly cooked food. Vehicle registration a pain. Separate vegetarian menu (with no pics of steaks etc) would have been appreciated.

They put us in a grubby corner where the paintwork was falling off, it was on a cold corner. The food was over cooked and cold

I came here for Sunday lunch with my family recently. The hostess that greeted us at the door was rather unfriendly and hostile on the couple occasions in which we interacted with her. We found her snide remarks to the waiters rude and rather unprofessional in the presence of clientele. Bit of a bitter taste to leave in the mouth! Coming from a background in hospitality, I feel perhaps some behavioural correction should be implemented here. The rest of the staff were lovely, the food was delicious and at great value for money.

I got food poisoning from your restaurant and it ruined my weekend plans

celebrated mums birthday here. food was lovely fresh & hot. if you ever get the fish & chips you won't be disappointed at all. beat around for miles. we all struggled to eat it all, fish was huge, no complaints here at all. Will definitely be eating at this harvesters again some time soon.

Went on the 12th of Jan. Food is not worth the price Put in a corner out the way. Ordered the lunch set menu Soup came out and was lukewarm at best, but no one came round to check. Hence, no one to complain to. Burgers came out, and the chips looked like they hadn't even seen a fryer to be cooked. My wife ate her chips, much to her peril, as the symptoms of food poisoning kicked in a few hours later. Avoid hornchurch compass harvester at all costs. Wasted a dining out Christmas present on this rubbish

Went there for Christmas dinner and everything was perfect.

It was OK however it was a bit scruffy the floors needed a good sweep although it did not look dirty it was untidy. The food again was OK however it was not hot by the time we got it. The waitress was friendly however she was very busy and the feeling I had was that there was not enough staff to cope with a busy service.

Disgraceful service. Had to get our own cutlery for salad and then meal. 2 meals were cold. One meal wrong and then took ages . No apologies or discount offered . Food was not great. Don’t go there try somewhere better

Sadly, not one of our best Harvester experiences. Very quiet and not very atmospheric. Food wasn't great, waitress rectified problem, but the meal was spoilt because of the original issue.

Breakfast with Santa Total overload Crammed in Tables being moved to fit people in , while we were eating Boxes in front of bar ( opened ) with crockery in Coffee pot on edge of table Table same height as my 4 year old grandson Barbie self full of stuff to be put away. Our waitress was lovely, tried her best with the work load she had. Children’s breakfast cold Wait was too long for children to wait. Queue fur Santa was ridiculous Queuing by hazards at bar . Children bored by time we got moving in q Santa himself was ok , welcomed the children Didn’t ask them all what they would like ! But guess he was busy too. Why over load on such a special occasion. I bring my grandchildren every year always been a lovely treat. Never again.

I visited on Boxing Day with a friend of mine to have my first Christmas dinner in 2 years (because of various medical and personal reasons - I am physically disabled). Although it was quiet, the service and the food were really good. Thank you for making my Christmas. Also, a big thank you to the young couple who gave me a surprising Christmas present (God bless you both). I will try and visit again

Professionalism, hospitality, communication. If you say one thing and mean the other don’t say anything at all. If you say “this won’t be on your bill” then don’t put it on our bill, and then don’t act shocked when we discuss this with a manager. The organisation of the whole time we were there was horrendous and it was like watching headless chickens run.

We were greeted in a friendly manner and shown to our table with relevant menus. Our drinks and food orders were eventually taken by Jack. Our drinks arrived fairly quickly with the comment that cutlery and salad bowls would follow. We waited about 15 minutes with no sign of salad bowls or cutlery, until we reminded Jack that we were still waiting. Cutlery and salad bowls were then provided. Having filled our salad bowls and returned to our table, our mains then arrived. The kitchen were turning out food really quickly however service wasn't being matched by the waiting staff. The chips on my plate were barely warm however we didnt want to wait any longer so made no complaint. Having finished our meal we then had to catch Jack's eye to ask for the bill. It seemed to us that larger groups were getting more attention and faster service. This was our second visit and service was no better than previously. Not enough waiting staff?

A good place for a family evening meal, just had a second family celebration, good meal and a good time. Visited twice more in November 18, then in Dec 21, Dec 22, Jan 23 and recently in Dec 23 good meals although the menu is very samy, helpful staff, although the level of service is somewhat disappointing as the staff are overstretched. Management need to address this!

Great staff and food was of a good standard in both quality and quantity. Good value and choice. Free salad bowl is a nice touch and add to the value.

Unfortunately I didn't catch the name but our server was the perfect host. Not too long wait for food and all staff were friendly and helpful. The food was good and a good range of drinks too.

The food was lovely we all had burger and chips but there was not much of a variety of food for people that have gluten or dairy intolerance. Also I thought the salad needed more of a variety, when I come years ago there was more salad and now there is only 6 options to choose from. But over all it was lovely, would recommend it to anyone.

Sarah and staff are so lovely. Such lovely banter between them. Sarah was our server, she was so funny and attentive. Lovely Christmas lunch with my husband, lovely salad cart , bean salad and 2 different pastas ,fresh and tasty 10/10 😋

Nice place to eat with children. Friendly staff and our mains (mine the Christmas burger) was so much nicer than we thought it would be, especially for the price.

The service here is always very friendly and attentive, I have never had any issues with any food ordered here and of course the unlimited free salad is always a win. Ample parking that is free is your a customer, just be card not to scrape your bumper as you pull in.

This was my first visit and have not had a Harvester cooked breakfast for such a long time. Food was good and I felt the menu was reasonably priced. Service was excellent. As a venue it was fresh, clean and we didn't feel rushed to finish our breakfast and leave even though it appears to be very popular on a Sunday morning. Thank you.

A refurbished, much improved restaurant which maintains the excellent features and quality of this food chain. Everyone loves the salad cart and welcoming staff. Just had my church group Christmas meal - great!

Used to be good but my last experience was so bad. At arrival I was told no table for 3 available and I did not book in advance. I decided at that point to have take away. During the process to buy take away the host told me I couldn't have the menu kid for my son. After various hosts try the machine they manage to add a kid's menu. While waiting for the take away, 3 adults arrived and a table was arranged for them. How is this possible when a table was denied for me, hubby and son? To my surprise when I arrived home one of the plates was burned. This is very disappointing. Not a happy costumer and I will not go back to Harvester Compasses

Went last night for mums birthday. Had a lovely evening. Staff hard working, friendly and helpful. Our waitress Larraine was so lovely. Food was very good and reasonably priced. Very festive atmosphere with the venue very tastefully decorated.

We often have lunch here. The staff are always welcoming and friendly. With my wife arriving in a wheelchair help is always given with access. In particular Karen our waitress could not be more helpful to our needs and always with a smile. The food is good and served well.

Haven't been fo many years but was very impressed with the food and value for money. This chain has seriously improved

The staff were friendly (Laraine was very attentive) and the food was fine but the restaurant needs some attention. It was so cold we needed to move tables and other customers were eating in their coats. Everything was tired and tatty: toilets with no seats, chairs with holes in the seats, walls with damage and binds and windows that were thick with dust. Wasn’t clean or comfortable to really relax. Very disappointed.

The grill had broken, so we were offered fried food only which was fine, the meal was ok I don't usually eat fried food, but tasted pretty good. The waitress was very helpful.

Love coming to the harvester with the kids. The food is really lovely here. Its the only place I can go to, where the kids eat everything on their plate. Staff are friendly as usual. Salad bar was being replaced regularly, meaning it was constantly fresh.

Nice friendly restaurant, the lunchtime menu is very good value and filling. Had 2 courses,starter and main +the free salad bowl...unlimited £12-99🥗, very full up..well done Harvester..and the Baileys latte nice to.

A large group of us went here for breakfast to celebrate my daughters birthday and really enjoyed our experience. The service was excellent and the food very satisfying. Will definitely be returning soon!

I ordered haddock and chips for my lunch. Haddock was very good nice and hot however the chips left a lot to be desired they were very dry and luke warm, not good at all.

Only thing o would change is the rolls near salad bar as they are always dry. Also the cheesy garlic bread I had, hardly any garlic taste and bread was dry. Would be better sliced in half so garlic could soak on. Everything else was delicious

I visited my late Partner’s cousin in Essex and tried to contact many local pubs in Hornchurch. They all seem to use the same answering service and basically you can’t speak to a person in the pub you want to contact. I needed to find out if there was step free access and a downstairs disabled toilet which would have taken less than two minutes. After some upheaval and the wheelchair’s wheel coming off a very kind man, called John came to our rescue – what a hero and I am so grateful to him. He helped me to get D home and into the house. It looked like we were having fish and chips when D said ‘I want to go out, what about a Harvester, I used to go there every Wednesday’. He couldn’t remember what it was called but remembered the road. Harvester was fine by me and I called Star Cabs who I’d looked up on my way to Hornchurch. I had suggested taking a cab days before I visited. The drivers were very courteous and helpful, the Harvester (lovely Sean who welcomed and seated us) called the cab for us for the return journey as I couldn’t get through to Star. Well, as for the Harvester, what a great and clean place with excellent service and great food. D was telling the cab driver that he used to go there every Wednesday after his wife died and all the waitresses knew him but of course none of them will be there now. How wrong he was, Karen (what a smashing lady, helpful, accommodating but very professional) came over and said ‘you used to come here every Wednesday and we were only talking about you last week although I couldn’t remember your name’. She was genuinely pleased to see D and gave him a hug which made his day. The meals were fabulous, we ate from the main menu. D had gammon steak which came with chips and all the trimmings which he thoroughly enjoyed. I had the spare ribs and my goodness they were amazing although I needed a doggie bag. Well done to all the team, front and back of house – thank you. We shall be back, I’ll try and make it before Christmas but of course me living in Surrey it’s a long trek.

Just been to the Harvester at Hornchurch and was served by Sarah who was brilliant. She was friendly, efficient and most importantly got our orders spot on. The only thing that lost them a star was the price; this is no longer a mid priced meal out. For two of us, two courses and two soft drinks it would have been £50 if I hadn’t had a coupon. A suggestion would be reduce the cost if you don’t want the salad bar (this isn’t free but included in the price).

"That's how we do it now" was a theme to our visit. Garlic bread was a small loaf with some garlic oil bushed on the crust. Kids brownie no longer comes with ice cream. Plus food was served without gravy side, when questioned they were out of stock. Would haven be nice to know when ordering as the chicken was now very dry!

What a pity that a wonderful evening was spoiled. Friendly staff and good food are completely spoiled by the ruthless parking rules at Euro Car Parks. About which, unfortunately, the visitors of the institution are not warned... We were celebrating our wedding anniversary, enjoying good food and socializing to get our £85 car parking fee. I urge you not to eat here unless you are on foot. No one will warn you about the upcoming surprise from Euro Car Parks!!! This is a very unpleasant gift from Harvester addition: after receiving the letter, I visited the restaurant, where the manager canceled the fine. thanks for that but I had to change my plans and go to the restaurant to solve this issue, so it would be great if the staff informed the guests in advance.

We had a very pleasant dining experience, our waitress Michelle is a credit to your team. She is observant and very knowledgeable about the menu and drinks etc. The reason for the poor score for food was due to so many items not available on a Monday evening! No steaks at all, and 5 desserts not available. None of this is Michelle's fault, but the management let her down having to keep explaining the shortages. Perhaps the manager should have been available to explain why there was no steaks etc.

I just like to congratulate Harvester on a very good occasion of a 80th birthday on the 12th of September, lovely food lovely atmosphere and especially the waitress Sarah she went above and beyond was very pleasant courteous always smiling and joking and nothing was too much trouble ,it made the whole experience a fantastic time and meal and for the persons , lovely memorable time for her well done campuses , Sarah the waitress you are fantastic.

We just had lunch and in our party there were 20 of us .Sarah who looked after us was incredibly helpful very friendly and a very nice lady. Sarah got everyone’s order perfect no mistakes the food was very nice and totally recommend the place .🤩
