Booked for sister’s birthday who is an adult with special needs. The staff were amazing! They were so friendly and helpful and brought a candle out on her ice cream and sang happy birthday with us which made my sisters day! Food was good and was very hot when it arrived. 2 course lunch menus was £14.99

Busy visit but the staff were still friendly and speedy. The manager Theresa seemed as though she has 6 arms; hosting, replenishing the salad, running food to tables, completing delivery orders. Our server kept up looking after so many tables despite having customers stopping her left right and centre.

Larraine was our server who was great and knew lots about the menu and choices. We are a local charity and bring our members to the Harvester. The food and service was excellent.

Chicken Tuesday for £8,Freinds had a wowcher deal for 2. Blue light accepted as well.

When entering the meet and greet was awful. She gives Trisha Goddard vibes with more eye rolls, came across not booking was a crime. Also witnessed her having a go at a member of staff on the front of house totally unprofessional. Sam was our server, she was amazing! Down to earth funny and nothing was too much trouble. She checked in on us and even had a little joke with us she gets 5 stars (if the review was just on her alone) Food - Mac and cheese wasn’t the best but meal was ok.

It was a really busy evening but the service we received from Teresa and Chris was outstanding. As we left they called us back to the table. They had heard it was my brother’s birthday and bought out ice cream with a candle. The children loved it!!!! Such an enjoyable evening. Special thanks to them both

Went there for a mums birthday treat, it wasn't until the end of the meal where things went very bad. We were charged the wrong amount,(our voucher had been applied to someone else's table) I questioned it, server said it was correct, we then left where I checked it a free birthday meal where went taken off, I went back in where apparently I was served by the manager. This manager didn't have a name badge on also didn't know how to give the refund. I waited 25/30 mins for a £18 refund which in the end was given to me all in coins. I forgot to mention that when I queried the bill the server threw down her keys right infront of me and then swore under her breath. I thought with this experience I would get some sort of compensation........ The manager even turned around and said we know you come here alot we hope this doesn't put you off , to which we replied we don't know if we will come again. Now you would have thought at the point you would want to entice the customer to come back after a bad experience especially a loyal customer, but just an I'm sorry and on your way

Absolute con. You can choose from different menus for the same table and you can't order separate bills. £4.50 for a refillable lemonade for a child. Unfriendly staff. Don't bother.

Upon arrival the lady at the front (who seems like a manager) was rude and abrupt to her colleague that was seating us. We then sat and ordered food, we agreed that mains will be at least 20 minutes after starters but it arrived all together. We said we would like it later but they kicked up a fuss and said we have to have it right now. Ordered a beer and it was warm, they said the beer tap is off and cant do anything about it but the next beer was cold. Was rushed to eat and finish quickly even though the restaurant was not packed. Overall not a good experience which lead to poor food quality.

This will be our third visit in just a few months, partly due to black friday vouchers (20% discount) and birthday offers available via the Harvester app That said we have always enjoyed our time, food and company when visiting. They offer unlimited salad with each main meal, there are also children's options if needed. Parking is available (don't forget to register at check in) however we are able to walk to/from. Friendly and good service although if you go at very busy times there can be delays, and it's best to book in order to avoid disappointment. Definitely recommended 👍

Great atmosphere, lovely staff, and delicious food. We had the ribs and half chicken. Salads were delicious and fresh. Absolutely loved the cubed sweetcorn breads- huge fan of the presentation from the kitchen given the fair prices. The lady who I assume is the manager (tall and slim) could do with being kinder to the staff who work very hard to keep a tight ship, was hard not to notice nit picking throughout our meal.

Came for my Dads 80th and the staff couldn't of been more accommodating. They allowed us to bring in a cake and candles. When a member of our party had left for the bathroom, his food was kept under the warmer until he returned instead of left on the table to go cold. Food came quickly and was cooked well. Empty plates etc cleared fast. Salad bar restocked promptly. Staff all friendly and happy to help. Definitely recommend and would come back. 🥳😀

Each time we come here, the service seems to be getting worse and worse. We were a party of 9 celebrating my brother's 50th birthday. The service was so slow. Waited over 45 minutes for our mains. Chicken left off the ultimate mixed grill and no apology when bought to attention. Asked the manager for the bill and was told to speak to the waiter who was 'serving' us. We had waited for her but ti was taking so long. I felt bad for the waiter as she was clearly very busy so why can't the Manager help instead of bossing every one around?

I had a great time at this harvesters!! I loved the tomato and herb pasta from the salad bar and I really enjoyed my gammon meal! Special thanks to Teresa for the warm welcome and great service

I've always loved the harvester ever since I was a kid. Continue to visit as an adult as the salad bar and red devil sauce keep me coming back. Can't wait to bring my children one day.

Came in for dinner really enjoyed it. Only had 2 chefs but food was still amazing.

Firstly the meal: Haddock and chips. Excellent light and crispy batter and flesh perfectly white. The apple pie, pastry was dry and probably not fresh. Service: The initial server (female) Her face looked as if she didn't want to be there and should get a refund from the charm school. The main server: (Male) was very polite, smiling. However, the spoon which came with the apple pie was dirty, unwashed and was returned . Cappuccino came without a saucer, so where was I going to put the wet spoon, then I was told there was no chocolate sprinkle as they had none left. The noise level: Difficult to hear any conversation, due to the number of children running wild and screaming. I have visited this venue for a number of years and regularly during the year. The management should ensure that all aspects of service are excellent at all times and drinks are as they should be. They should advise noisy diners that they should control their children as airlines and other restaurants do. However I and my friends will no longer visit this establishment as there are others in the area at a competitive price and far higher standard of service and more amenable environment as this particular venue has gone down hill and is more like the cafeteria on a Channel ferry

Had couple of waitresses but one who brought food over was very attentive she noticed I put my sleeve in my dinner & got some lemon wipes for me to use to help so it never stained. Her name was Teresa, very bubbly happy lady. Had an excellent meal lovely evening.

The young lady who served us was excellent, she was very polite and friendly. The food was lovely and tasty. Though the young lady who served us was polite with a genuine goodbye as we left, we did not get one from the front of house...but that was the only thing that was not great.

Service was first class, food ordered, cooked expediently and tasted fantastic. We had a great time with our granddaughter who also loved her fish fingers with chips. thank you.

It’s rare to find such exceptional service, and Therese and Will made our visit unforgettable. I will definitely be returning, and I hope to be served by her again! It was a lovely afternoon with good food and good service

Delivery was almost an hour later than originally stated and almost 2 hours after I ordered it. We ordered 3 burgers with different extras - they were all the same despite paying for additions. Not particularly hot on arrival which isn’t a surprise as the delivery driver seemed to get lost and go completely the wrong way and stop in Sainsbury’s…

New decor was nice, choice on menu was pretty good. Staff.... not one person looked like they wanted to be there. Our server was not existent throughout the meal, when he did show up he couldn't have made it clearer that he wasn't interested in providing a service. I tipped him £10 as a standard procedure but in reality he deserved none of that. I also saw a server rolling her eyes at two women, who couldn't move out of her way quick enough While she was walking behind them. One of these women must have been in her 80's.... the disregard for those paying her wages. There is a serious staff issue at the compass, Hornchurch.

Excellent service, the Manager Lisa explained in detail what to avoid with my nut allergy. Atmosphere was fun and relaxed. My food including dessert was delicious. Will definitely be recommending.

We go to The Compasses once a fortnight, always ask for Larraines section when we book. She is always so lovely, welcoming and friendly and so professional. The food never disappoints.

We always have a lovely experience here. Annie who serves us makes sure we have everything we need. Theresa always goes above and beyond to serve our food time including advice on the ingredients. We’ve been going to this Harvester since it opened years ago. Tonight we were greeted by Theresa who is very welcoming and a great person to meet as you walk through the front door. It was quite busy but always has a nice relaxed atmosphere and they’ll always find you a table swiftly. We were served by Annie again who is lovely. She’s very attentive and good at her job. As it was busy she was here, there and everywhere but had everything under control. The food arrived quickly and was really nice (I’ve never had a bad meal there). Even though my wife was a little full after the main course she can’t resist the choux bun with ice cream for dessert. We had a really nice time there and the food is such good value. Thank you.

Went today and had a meal. Atmosphere was good. William served us and was very helpful and made us feel at ease. Teresa the manager came and spoke to us and seemed very nice. Will be going back again soon.

Staff were friendly and helpful (particularly Theresa and Katie). Food overall was nice, however, the steak was slightly tough. Would definitely come back again, especially with the new refurbishments.

This spot is a great place for a nice dinner, I had their vegan burger and it was so nice I am very happy with my experience with the food and the people, usually i’m leaving a restaurant very unhappy because the food was bad or the service was bad but here everything is so amazing, I loved how friendly all the workers are and how understanding they are, all of the workers had such a good vibe making my evening very happy, I would definitely eat here again, and I am recommending this place to everyone!

Food was average at best, service was slow and there was no atmosphere what spoilt the whole experience was that the restaurant was freezing cold so not a place where you can enjoy a meal and spending time with friends It seems to be a trend as I had the same issue at the Romford restaurant Mitchell & Butler should look into why their restaurants have no heating on

It's an ok restaurant. Menu choices ok, pretty standard items as well as Harvester favs. Service is fair, nothing to write home about. Recently renovated, which is nice, shame some walls and furniture are marked up already! Personally, think this isn't the budget friendly restaurant chain that it used to be however, EVERYTHING, EVERYWHERE has gone up so it's no surprise really. I have always found the food here, hot and tasty, salad cart stocked up regularly. Overall a fair place to eat

Awful experience - It was freezing cold in the restaurant - it’s -1 degrees outside and felt the same inside. We all had to eat in winter coats and scarves and so were others in the restaurant. The food was awful - chips were tough, tasteless and gross, the chicken was more like the size of a quail, the cucumber in the salad cart was not fresh and some food had dropped into other parts, and we weren’t allowed large bowls for salads as the main - it was like eating out a child’s bowl. The only saviour was the service was good and our waiter Will was lovely. Definitely do not recommend, nor visit again.

Our host Theresa was a breath of fresh air. A lovely warm welcome. Our waitress Amy was brilliant, lovely, bubbly lady. These 2 together are dynamite. I didn't get the chefs name but my steak was cooked to perfection. Thank you for a lovely visit. Will be back soon. Keep up the good work

Absolutely amazing I went today as a birthday meal and it was incredible the service was amazing in its own so nice and welcoming and polite what a lovely place I may be only a teenager but I know manners and places that are amazing Besides the atmosphere and service the food was exquisite lovely I had the triple combo and oh my goodness so lovely never had food so well cooked and amazing in my 14 years of living it felt like I was in a Michelin star restaurant By the way my waiter was Chris and was very nice the best service person I have had at that restaurant Harvester thanks for the amazing meal keep it up -Dylan

I was met by an amazing young lady who directed us to our table. Her name is Theresa. She see my mother had a walking see stick so placed us at table next to the salad cart so my mother didn't have to walk far. We was met by another gentleman called Will what an amazing fella. They could not be more helpful. Most definitely coming back food was on point also. Customer service smashed and sealed it. See you soon guys . Thank you

Just been to the Harvester at Hornchurch and was served by Sarah who was brilliant. She was friendly, efficient and most importantly got our orders spot on. The only thing that lost them a star was the price; this is no longer a mid priced meal out. For two of us, two courses and two soft drinks it would have been £50 if I hadn’t had a coupon. A suggestion would be reduce the cost if you don’t want the salad bar (this isn’t free but included in the price).

Just had breakfast for 10 people! Christmas eve And it was the worst food exper.iance we v ever had cold food horrendous cheap luke warm coffee! Unfriendly unsmiling staff ! And the so called chef's picking food up with bare hands!!awful place go and spend your money in nessies or marleys or la moulin in hornchurch ! All good

Refused a plate!! I ordered a salad as a main meal £6ish I was Refused a plate given a finger bowl. I cancelled my salad believing I should have a plate. I had to order meat to receive a plate I did not want the meat but had to do so to receive a plate! It was on the serving hatch for quite a while. I asked Theresa for my plate of meat she refused and then after realising it was there gave me my plate.. with meat. I had a plate for my meal hoorah! The reply to my complaint insisted that the compass harvester is happy I made trips to the salad bar with my tiny bowl. I did put the contents on to a plate. For a meal at Christmas with my family I found your refusal for a plate for a main meal ridiculous, rude and pedantic! Shame on you for a very grinch like experience. Hang on to your plates I won’t be coming back! Unhappy customer.
