There will NEVER EVER be enough words of gratitude for this establishment for the amazing wake they gave my Aunt on the 7th January. From the second I walked in to book the venue to the minute I left last night, they could not do enough for me. I cannot recommend them highly enough and it’s never an easy day to deal with but there was not one single thing I could fault from the food to the service; it was amazing!!! Just wanted to say a huge thanks to Denise, Lorraine, Georgia and everyone else that helped behind the scenes (even the cleaner John who helped me with all the decorations today and was super kind when I went back to collect everything). Never ever hesitate to book this venue for your occasion; they will bend over backwards to make it spectacular x

We celebrated my Father’s life here today and we could not have asked for more from the staff. Food was excellent and everything we needed or asked for was delivered by the efficient and very friendly staff. My Dad would have been proud. Thank-you

We had early Xmas lunch/dinner here yesterday and needed an accessible table . I asked for certain seating requirements when booking and all needs were met . The whole three course meal was lovely and the staff went above and beyond to help . Very reasonable priced also and great atmosphere. We will return .

Lovely Christmas experience breakfast with Santa i took my twi granddaughters who absolutely loved it. Julie the Elf, Lorraine the chef and waitress Joanne were so welcoming and food was delicious many thanks to all staff.

What an absolute delight !! Me and my grandaughters came for breakfast with Santa it was magical delicious hot breakfast served very quickly followed by a lovely visit from Santa then we were given reindeer food which the girls absolutely loved crafts and colouring it was a perfect start to the festivities for us well done to you all x

We came to the huntsman and hound today for lunch. The staff and manger couldn’t have been more helpful with issues regarding a voucher we had. All the food was hot and delicious. We will definitely be returning.

Had a lovely Sunday meal here with family. They managed to seat us despite us not booking at lunchtime and being very full. The food was really good. Big portions and a rich, tasty roast. Good vegan option too which my dad enjoyed. Julie’s service was prompt, helpful and with a smile. I recommend!

Another superb ember inns pub. Our guest visit since moving here and we will come here again. This is a lovely place in Upminster. The staff are fantastic and so friendly. Julie served us and went out of her way to make sure we were well looked after. Thanks guys. See you again soon.

Came here again for our work Xmas jeal/leaving meal for a co-worker. As always the food was lovely, friendly staff and perfect atmosphere. If you're too engaged in conversation to go to the bar, use the Embers Inns phone app to get your drinks delivered to your table at any time. Highly recommended for family celebrations, drinks with friends, or first dates (I'm still waiting to test that one).

Roast dinners and pub favourites. In the winter a real fire adds some atmosphere. Dogs allowed.

Last minute visit having fancied a Sunday roast. Staff accommodated us having not booked. Julie was our waitress - she provided a first class service throughout our meal and drinks. Food was very nice and served speedily as was the desert. Visit recommended

I've never been to this place before but I was impressed with it, very friendly staff, the group I was with had a buffet and the food I had was good. There is parking and you need to register your car reg as you enter. There is a downstairs easy access toilet. I would recommend this pub.

A great atmosphere, always made to feel welcome, food always great too .

Being such a great place building-wise, it needs a proper refurbishment, a proper hygienic cleaning and a proper renewal of menu and food service with longer hours. It's not very normal that by 8.30pm they no longer serve food. Where's the management standards? They could be earning such good money if things were run correctly. Just saying as I'd love to see it flourish and prosper.

Lovely food which was well priced and area was kept clean and tidy. But customer service was poor. Staff were rude and unfriendly, unhappy that we turned up without booking. Ordered using app, was waiting a long time for our drinks as didn't realise we had to collect them ourselves from the bar. Then had to wait and ask for our desserts as no one came to clear the table or ask how our food was. Whilst the food was nice, we definitely won't visit again after a 4 hour commute to the cemetary, a friendly face would have been appreciated.

Visited the huntsman and hounds on Tuesday lunch time with my wife and was greeted by a lovely woman who i later found out was called georgia she was so bubbly,friendly and polite and really made us feel welcome food was also superb so will definitely be returning!

We have been here before and had a lovely time but our last visit was so much more enjoyable purely because of one member of staff - Julie !! She was so friendly, accommodating, professional yet made us feel like we were treated as friends rather than just a customer!! She is a credit to this company and made our family celebration extra special !! Compliments to the chef (Lorraine) food was delicious and cooked to perfection!! Can’t recommend this place enough for a perfect family occasion !!

Took my kids to the Father Christmas breakfast and wow what a lovely experience. Greeted by one of the staff members as we walked in the door dressed as an elf and made fuss about the kids knowing it was all about them, the whole experience was lovely so was the food - had to get the name of the elf as she was amazing with everyone who walked though the door and made sure everyone was welcomed - thank you Julie Brand - we will be back soon!!

Really nice restaurant food excellent an best of all they allow you to take digs in. Had a lovely catch up lunch with friends. Also noticed the cater for funerals

Poor quality food and expensive drinks. Service was slow, area was moderately clean though and nicely decorated but theres better pubs around with better quality and price.

Food was decent, starters & main. A good few drinks. Pub was very quiet for a Saturday night (think there was only 1 other couple) 7 of us all enjoyed food but two people disappointed due to there being no ale available. Despite 4 or 5 pumps showing ale 🤷‍♂️

We love coming to the quiz every Wednesday. We always have a great time and are well looked after by Lorraine (head chef), Marcel, Steve, Julie and the rest of the team, who make us feel a part of the Huntsman family

Great night at the weekly quiz Lorraine the quiz mistress was so funny really enjoyed it. The staff here are so nice Steve, Marcie, Julie and Joanne especially. And Lorraine- both quiz mistress and chef too.

I went to the Huntsman for the quiz last Wednesday after an illness enforced break of many months. I was SO pleased to see that this pub was just as good as I remembered it. Every good pub is built around a good team and Denise runs a great team here. All friendly and welcoming. Especially the lovely Lorraine who seems to be everywhere!! If she’s not cooking up great meals in the kitchen she’s in the bar area as Quiz Mistress Extraordinaire. She makes the quiz fun and hugely enjoyable so credit has to go to her for her wonderful effort. Also Marcie and Steve at the bar with their friendly chats and generous welcomes make it, for me, the best pub in the area. If the Ember Inn chain wants votes for the best ambassadors for their company, these lovely people would get mine.

Our waitress, Julie, was so friendly and attentive, the service was amazing and our food come out so quickly. Highly recommend the huntsman for a nice meal out, especially for their quiz nights!

Visiting family and having a meal booked for tonight elsewhere we decided to go into the Huntsman and Hounds for a light midday snack. First the carpark is number plate camera controlled. Free to guests but don't forget to register your number plate when you arrive. The pub was fairly, busy with a large group of people but we were soon seated, There is also a large seating/dining area outside. The bar area was very clean and the toilets were immaculate. The bar staff were very welcoming. When our food arrived the portions were more than adequate and very tasty. The price was very reasonable for 4 people, £35-71 including drinks. Would we recommend? Definitely.

We were visiting Corbetts Tey and had a lovely sunday dinner here,nice atmosphere,friendly and welcoming staff,food was very good,fresh,good portions,special deal on desert when order a sunday roast.😋which we just managed to find space for😀

Visited here for,sadly, a friends Wake. Very friendly service, a good atmosphere in the pub and the food buffet was outstanding! Just remember to pop your registration number in the machine, if you are in the car park.

Our friends from Upminster brought us here for the Sunday roast. Food was great, staff was great. The only issue we had - it seems like our order got lost. Our friends order came out and we waited, waited, waited - finally had to ask about our order. About ten minutes later it arrived. Other than that, very good experience, quiet atmosphere, quieter than other pubs we visited in more populated areas.

Great night with friends tonight. Staff Lorraine, Marcelle, Leah, Joanne & Steve were all excellent & they gave good advice re our questions about the food & drink. What a lovely choice there is on the menu . Although Pasta Carbonara is now unavailable which disappointed a couple of us. When the food arrived it was presented well & tasted delicious & enjoyed by us all. Lorraine as Quiz Master was hilarious & entertaining with many laughs which united the whole pub. Great night was had by all & we will certainly be returning not only for the quiz but for other meals too!

SUNDAY, FOOD WAS VERY NICE. ATMOSPHERE WAS ON THAT PARTICULAR DAY QUIET. RECOMMENDED PLAYING SOME LIGHT AMBIENCE MUSIC INTO GARDEN AREA, AND KID PLAY AREA. HAS GREAT POTENTIAL TO HIT 5 STARS.

I have been coming to this pub on and off for over 20 years. This new management are so unprofessional and rude I did stop going in there because of this then thought I would chance it. I ordered prawns they came out raw like rubber .I backed them to be told "she wont cook them again. That's how they are supposed to be" Excuse I know how I want my food cooked and I'm sure no one eats RAW SEAFOOD . You can die from eating raw prawns. The outside was cooked on the eye .Worse of it I am cook in a busy restaurant and they are saying that's how they should be cooked. Ha ha Beware anyone who is pregnant. Double check your food.

I attended a funeral buffet and drinks here, they were outstanding in every way

Entered the pub after a funeral and were greeted with a very angry woman. There were only 8 of us and we were told that there were already two funeral parties in and our small group had to sit at one table. A lack of chairs (and some we had needed re-upholstering ) caused some of our party to stand. At the same time one half of the pub looked as though a party had already left the pub with areas strooned with used cutlery and plates piled on top of each other. Over the two hours we were allowed to use this pub hardly any effort was made to clean this larger area to accommodate us. This was a funeral party that had tried to book in advance and although the pub claimed it was fully booked the area described above remained un tidied and bereft of customers. I have used this pub many times for funeral functions and I assume it gets it's money from events of this kind. However after today I would seriously ask people to reconsider and go to the Crumpled Horn a little further up the road in the high street where we got a far better service for my Father -in-laws funeral.

I haven't eaten at the huntsman and hound in upminster yet but I visit a few times per week stop have a couple of pints. The service, welcoming, atmosphere by manager and all staff very good. Excellent.

Food bland and not very hot , service was slow and had to send beer back as it was off ....

I was there after a funeral and they laid on a buffet which was great. Everyone said it was delicious and it all got eaten.

Food was lovely freshly cooked and hot, also the plates were hot I hate cold plates, the staff were very friendly and gave good service, looking forward to our next visit .

Great food (especially the lovely new Summer menu), such a friendly pub and the best quiz night ever, thanks to the bloody brilliant Loraine - best quizmaster in the land. Eat your heart out Bradley Walsh, you are nowhere near as entertaining as Loraine on Wednesday evenings!

Food was awful, terrible dry chicken and the service was....Lack luster.....Slow service, chicken was cold too. Terribly expensive drinks as well. Nice area terrible service and food.

Staff have always been polite and helpful when I have visited. The food is tasty and drinks are reasonably priced. Good Sunday roast deals, and Thursday Steak night and Friday Curry night. Nice atmosphere here too.

Attended the venue for a wake, terribly disappointing hot drinks dispenser broke so no back up was offered, despite the venue serving food they were not able or willing to boil water to supply hot drinks, can only put this down to poor management, no consideration to customers requirements, if a venue such as this does not have a back up for such occurrences then it must be down to bad management, would not recommend this establishment good such venues.

Fantastic service, quite happy to make many interesting alterations to my food so i enjoyed a delicious custom baked bean custard and bbq sauce chicken burger. That is genuinely what i ate, but i could tell there was a lot of skill behind that chargrilled chicken and overall i had a very positive experience at this place. Definitely worth a stop!

I went here for 2 separate funeral teas. The food was amazing. The service at one was excellent, nothing too much. The service towards the end of the second was not to the same standard.

Great place for a quiet dinner and drinks on a Sunday evening. Table service via the Ember Inns app or at the bar. Menu options means there's something for everyone, even children's options.

Came here for my mum’s wake. I cannot recommend this venue enough. From booking the venue to our arrival for the wake everything was so smooth and the staff were excellent. One of my party has severe allergies and the staff could not have been more helpful. We were actually advised against using the Huntsmen by our funeral director BUT I’m so glad we didn’t listen to them because the venue they recommended treated me shockingly! Thank you Huntsmen and Hounds for a stress free and wonderful wake for my mum!

We had the wake for my mum here today. We were really impressed right from the beginning. When we made our reservation we chose the menu and all options were explained to us. On the day the service, staff and quality of the food was excellent. All staff were extremely helpful. Someone in our party has severe allergies. Staff took the time to come over and sit with them and go through the app they have. I'm rather fussy and like things right and I really can't fought anything which to me is excellent and I would like to recommend anyone having a wake to consider here as it really made a sad day a little brighter. You do not have to pay for the car park however you must enter your reg number as you enter the pub. All in all fabulous. Thanks to all the staff

Food reasonably priced and served in a friendly manner. Service behind the bar was surly and the lady seemed rather bored. The worst thing was the fact that I was subsequently charged £60 for parking in their car-park! I don't doubt that there were signs both in the car park and somewhere on the bar, but nobody drew my attention to the necessity to register my vehicle. I don't expect to pay for parking at a pub, and will not go back.

Visited on a Saturday evening, booked a table on line ( the process was very easy) , but didn't really need to bother. It was empty most of the evening. Food was good, not exceptional, but the prices were very good. The service was spot on and overall, it was an enjoyable visit. I'd go again for sure...

My friends and I have been going to the pub for plus ten years. The food is always tasty and wholesome, and very good value. The staff are always welcoming, friendly, and make your visits feel special. Quiz nights are amazing, full of fun and friendships. This place can be lovely. I had a lovely meal on a Sunday night, the food was much better than expected, the staff were attentative, the prices low. If driving here, remember to enter your car reg in the computer on arrival or you face receiving a parking ticket.
