Had a lovely roast dinner with the family, and afters. Food is lovely, service is good too, kept us informed with our orders and always asked if everything is okay. Atmosphere is lovely and relaxed and welcoming. A lovely little place to chill and relax after you have been on a walk.

Booked a table for ten for a family gathering after a funeral. We were greeted by Abbie and zed and they looked after us brilliantly. Excellent customer service. We ordered 9 meals and they all came out at the same time, hot and tasty. Absolutely no complaints at all! Thank you. 🙏 😊

I booked a table for Sunday Roast to celebrate my husbands birthday. Upon arrival we were greeted by a very warm and friendly lady behind the bar (slim, dark hair and glasses). We were shown to our table which was laid out ready for lunch. We decided to have 3 strong Bloody Mary’s to start off the lunch, but by the time I got to the bar a lovely lady named Maria as bringing over the wine menu to up sell us to wine and beers, which we did instead of the Bloody Mary’s. We ordered our main courses, 2 gammon and a chicken with extra cauliflower cheese and stuffing wrapped in bacon, it was delicious, moist and tasty. Overall, between Maria, the bar staff and chef’s kitchen we thoroughly enjoyed the lunch. It’s a 5* star rating for sure. See you again very soon.

10/10 for the Mawney Arms. 4 adults and two young children for a Sunday roast and they couldn’t have done better. Service was warm and prompt. Food was fantastic. Pub is lovely and clean. We will defo be back to try different food on the menu! Nice pub . Food was good. Until we went to use the toilets. They was disgusting. Not 1 clean toilet , toilet roll over the floor, obviously not been checked in a while by staff.

We had the Sunday dinner and the adults food was perfect. The chicken in the kids meal was overwhelmingly over salted. At the till when ordering we had quite a few issues too with totalling up the food and needed the managers clearance constantly. In the end I think we got over charged by £5 odd which I didn’t go back to query because they had left off one of the desserts off which I had factored into payment but obviously didn’t receive. There was barely a waiter around if we needed to ask for anything. Our dinner plates didn’t get cleared. Even at the point of them bringing our desserts they still hadn’t cleared the dinner plates. The manager was no where to be seen either - so the waiters couldn’t resolve many of the issues themselves. We ordered the sundae and the chocolate brownie for the kids desserts - the same dessert came out ? And was far too bitter … almost dark chocolate ? Which baffles me why that would be on a children’s menu. We left with one of the parents having dessert because they just didn’t add it on at the point of ordering for whatever reason and again as mentioned above the manager wasn’t around to resolve. Wouldn’t necessarily come back.

I came for dinner and drinks with 2 friends. We wanted to have a catch up and so we were sat in a cosy corner. Service was a bit slow but it was quiz night so this is fine. Food was lovely and we all enjoyed our food

Always a superb visit last night, with the Mawney arms. I think probably the best pub food in Havering, really really nice and one definitely to go and try if you haven’t been. I love going here and the staff are so friendly and a credit to the ember inns team there. Last night Julie and Charlie were working so hard to forfil all the orders with the chef in the kitchen, despite being really busy and run of their feet. Amazing pub can’t recommend it enough !

A very disappointing Christmas lunch… A very disappointing Christmas lunch, at The Mawney Arms in Romford, with a group of 14 friends. Booked this a couple of months ago. There appeared to be be no problem with the booking at the time and we paid a deposit. On the day of the lunch Thursday 14th December, we received an email asking if we could be there 15 min early, 11:45 for 12:00. When we arrived we were told there would be a delay as they had just received a delivery, which they had to deal with first. Nearly an hour later we had to ask when we would receive our starter. Nearly three hours all together before the deserts were served. 5 plates of profiteroles served all of which were frozen solid. We complained to the staff, the chef came out and said "This is the way they are delivered to us and its the Company policy to serve them frozen" When we said "They should be thawed before serving" He said I'm the chef I know what I am doing" We cancelled the rest of the deserts and left. Absolute disgrace. No apology from the Guy who seemed to be the manager. Just a remark "we don't usually serve such large groups. I am told that another member of our group complained to head office and was told the chef said he was shouted at! No one shouted at the chef. Three hours to serve a party of 14 is unacceptable and not even an apology. I hope all 14 send in a review.

Had a lovely Christmas meal with friends. Julie went above & beyond with decorations. A very warm atmosphere with extremely friendly & accommodating staff. The festive menu was very lovely, good vegan choices. Apparently, the best profiteroles my friend have ever had. Would highly recommend & look forward to coming again

A fantastic experience at the mawney tonight, was served and looked after by Adam who is a super star, he can never do enough for you. His friendly, kind and helpful manner is second to none. The food was fantastic, the atmosphere was lovely with the fires and Christmas colouring for the little ones. All these little touches made our evening more enjoyable! I visited the Mawney Arms for the first time in the last year and there seems to be some big improvements from the last time I visited. There is such a great atmosphere now, with a general buzz around the place and everyone seems happy. Staff and guests. Not sure what’s happened but keep it up!

Karaoke really good brought in lots of people... Only had light ale no other lagers or guiness plus the small bottles of coke the dearest we have paid at £3.50 reluctant to give lemon and ice

We visited as saw it was voted no1 pub in Romford. The food was ok I had Turkey roast Sunday lunch but came without the brocolli and roasties below par.. not fresh just frozen ones but Turkey lovely and moist.. Nice selection of wine. Hubby had mixed grill and said was nice. Good value for money dinners but nothing special. Have to say nice service and lovely and warm on a rainy Sunday afternoon xx

I haven't been here for a while because honestly for a long while the staff have been unwelcoming and the atmosphere dull. Menu items were constantly out of stock and I felt the venue did not deserve my hard earned money. BUT I have visited twice recently and there has been a marked improvement, the atmosphere had had a buzz and the staff have been really welcoming and friendly. It feels like the place I want to come and relax after a hard week at work. Hoping the Mawney arms stays on an upward trajectory!

Really bad place don't waste your time.

Lost couple hundred pounds in 'amusement machine'. No problem and would have walked out normally with my tail between my legs as per usual if it was not for the kid behind the bar who asked me "How much did i win" when he heard a few coins come out. About 10/15% of what i put in I explained i had lost what is two days pay to me and he said "ill be having a go on it after work" No wonder i lose so much. Glassholes (misprint) . Basic, Basic training required

Terrible staff and terrible management, this pub is not worth visiting - save yourself the hassle of dealing with unprofessional staff and take a trip up the road to closer and more accomodating staff. There's a reason this pub is empty most days.
