Crumpled Horn in Havering

We attend the Quiz on a Tuesday night. Big shout out to Kaeti who makes quiz nights what they are- fun, energetic and a great evening. It wouldn’t be the same without her. Kaeti is amazing!

I've never visited this particular pub before but I have eaten in another Marston pub, so, when my old school friend came to meet me, it seemed a good place to hang out for a nice chat and a catch up. It was a Monday lunchtime and there were only a handful of customers when we entered. Now, I don't expect pubs to stay nice and quiet for us to talk, but, it is a bit irritating that it was the bar staff making so much noise we could barely hear each other. Sorry, make that one member of bar staff, who seemed to be the only one in. I have never known one person to make that amount of noise on their own. Screeching with laughter at goodness knows what, shouting and singing, badly, at the top of her voice. We actually began to suspect she was high on something. If she'd been a customer, she would have been shown the door. The food was good but we had to leave because we just couldn't stand the noise any more. We won't be back. In response to the manager's reply below - As I didn't say which Monday it was, I'm surprised you can tell me what you 'think' happened. I would, also, appreciate you NOT trying to 'guilt' me by suggesting other guests had multiple learning difficulties, I wasn't aware of. Only one of the two of us were there, and it wasn't you. When we arrived the barmaid over excitedly welcomed us, in an extremely over the top manner. We just smiled and acknowledged her. There was a single older lady, sitting alone in front of the bar, that the barmaid was already singing at. The lady then said to us, "hasn't she got a lovely personality?" I said, yes, although she might want to cut down on the 'e numbers,' the lady laughed and agreed. So, not just us that noticed it was a bit too much then. She was not making a fuss of any group, she was entertaining herself. There was barely anyone in and it was probably boring. No, I won't be ringing thanks. Why would I? So that you can tell me again how wrong I was? I think they call that gaslighting. Sometimes, things are exactly as they seem...

Love this pub. The food and service are great as are the prices. Vicki and Jess served us all today and they were very helpful, happy and friendly. We all had the fish and chips which was delicious and quickly served. I’d definitely recommend

I would like to say a big thank you to Megan and the staff on Tuesday the 13 February how well they look after us in the afternoon. A very extensive menu and everyone enjoyed the meals they had. There were 10 of us and all the meals came out together. The evening staff were very helpful too. All in all a fantastic pun with lovely staff

The service was great, all staff were super friendly. Amazing food and great value for money. Will deffo be returning soon.

Tables for 6. Waitress service. Good choice of menu. Reasonable prices. Not too noisy, Parking free after 6.30pm. 10 mins walk from Upminster station.

I booked a table for lunch here as it is very convenient for public transport. Every aspect of staffing was exceptionally good. When I booked the table the person on the phone was efficient and friendly. This was repeated when I arrived and let them know we had arrived. The friendliness of the staff was above anywhere other pub I have visited. If felt like we were people who came every day and the staff welcomed our return. I can only hope anyone else who eats there gets the same welcome. As a group we will definitely visit again, I cannot imagine any where else being better.

The staff Megan and Katie were very friendly and you could have a laugh with them. They were very courteous to all . We ended up having our lunch and dinner . The food was lovely and just the right portion size for us

The friendliest landlord I think I've ever come across. Super attentive and a good laugh! The atmosphere is spot on. Bar etiquette is top. It's opposite a big open park so it's nice to see that the pub is dog friendly!

First time here, it was nice in there, it was over Christmas so it was quite busy but that was actually nice to see, we got a table so we could sit, relax, have a drink and enjoy ourselves

We went for breakfast with Santa for the second year running. The kids really enjoyed it and the staff were all brilliant esp ‘holly’ the elf and Santa.

Gent's toilets need sorting, flooding & no lock on cubicle door.

Christmas begins here, and four of us enjoyed an excellent lunch at the 'Horn' . The table was set out in festive colours and with very much appreciated extra little touches. Russ has an excellent team and the girls particularly Kaeti and Vikki added greatly to the atmosphere and looked as if they were enjoying themselves. The food was hot, plentiful and very tasty. We will certainly be back as this is one of Marston's stars and delivers consistently. Sandy and Chris

Went to the crumpled horn for a drink with my husband and had a lovely evening. It's a lovely pub with good atmosphere.

Booked the Christmas festive menu, lovely table setting, crackers for everyone. Vegan food was brilliant, made sure I had my own vegan gravy too. Checked we were all okay with food, great service and help. Friendly staff and lovely meal.

Sometimes the bitter is a bit flat

Went to the quiz night as we do most weeks, and just wanted to say that Kaeti was her brilliant self, so happy and amusing with the quiz and banter. Service from Vikki and the team was friendly and spot on as usual.

Incredibly polite, friendly and efficient service from Megs. Ordered a long list of drinks and it was served with a smile, quickly and in a welcoming manner. Sometimes a long list of drinks can be seen as a nuisance and received with a frown rather than the smile we got. Our group will certainly be returning based on this service.

Came in for Sunday lunch which was absolutely fabulous. The food looked and tasted amazing. And the staff where so friendly and polite. Will be back

First time in Upminster, came here on Tuesday after being in the park opposite. Ordered drinks & food on the app, the bar staff didn't even know they had orders come through. Sat waiting at table for 10 minutes waiting for drinks in a fairly empty pub. Bar staff was very rude when asked where drinks were. Again, the same happened with food, sitting there waiting with a hungry 5 year old and food didn't show up until had to go up to ask! Only positive was the pie was yummy and the food was actually hot

Had reserved a table for Sunday afternoon for 2 people. Arrived early and was greeted warmly by bar staff, the pub was fairly busy but a good atmosphere. We had a booth table which was comfortable and ordered 2 roast dinners. Was told there would be a wait for food and bar staff apologised, but food was worth the wait, it was hot, plentiful and delicious. Enjoyed the comfortable afternoon visit, would recommend, and will visit again.

For a Marston's the food is amazing. The waitress/server was very friendly and the landlord/manager was knowledge on the offers. We came 9n for my wife's birthday and thought it was fantastic . Will come back the burger offer was amazing and the music was very good. Offers on cocktails If you have a family come here it's very nice.

Booked for Sunday roast howeverchef didnt turn up that day we were not informed so don't know who cooked potatoes were small no colour in them at all as were the turnips only thing cooked on plate properly was the carrots food lune warm then desert was supposed to be apple crumble hardly any apple atoffee something and oats terrible. QR code service at table said nobody able to assist so had to go to bar order

Unbelievable! beyond belief! Today's experience lunchtime Sunday roast was a waste. Told @ the time of ordering the price increased. The length of time before my dad & I got our Sunday roast dinners. Then when asked how is the food & then said not satisfactory the waiter not happy with our dissatisfaction of below standard. Two dissatisfied customers. We won't be going back there for food.

Come here weekly with friends for a catch-up and the pub quiz which is always fun - Kaeti is a great host for the quiz, lots of fun and it's always a laugh when she has to get help pronouncing some of the awkward words!...

Kaeti is the heart of this pub. She works so hard and makes everyone feel welcome. The crumpled horn are lucky to have her.

Great service, my son is disabled and the staff went above and beyond for us. Couldn't fault the food or service. Will be back soon.

Quiz note to raise funds for a local deer rescue charity. Well deserved. I was using "the men's loo",two guys came in and went into the cubicle and then a guy at the urinal went a joined them. This is not the usual situation in a pub toilet, but maybe in upminster it maybe a norm!! Weird!

Went to try the Philly Cheesesteak sandwich but was left feeling a little underwhelmed. Good selection of food on the premises, however. The drinks again have a great selection but are very pricy for the location (£11 for a lemonade and gin and tonic). The service was also pretty slow for a single meal but it was a Monday afternoon!

Amazing spot for lunch managed to get a 3 course meal and a beer for just under £20. Good food and amazing service we had Vicki as our waitress top service!! Credit to the team

Terribly understaffed, huge queue at the bar, and bar staff didn't appear to be in any kind of a rush. Saturday night, 2 people serving, 30 people waiting ages and ages. Would take a lot more money with better service, management and some staff. No different from last visit sadly. Waited, saw it was hopeless getting served and left. Brewdog highly recommended, packed, and served within a minute, plenty of staff,moving with some sense of urgency 😣

I visited today with a friend and we had drinks and food we was served by Russell and Kaeti they both done a fantastic job very friendly and helpful the food we had was delicious and hot great size portions and the whole experience was just wonderful definitely recommend it and definitely will be back keep up the good work

It's an okay pub, on a sunny day most sit outside at the front so the inside is easier to get a seat and service too, didn't have any food whilst here.

We had a fantastic time at The Crumpled Horn. It's such a welcoming, inclusive, and friendly place, which is the way pubs should be. There's room for everyone, but it's also very family oriented which is ideal for us. We all felt very at home, the atmosphere was lovely, and my 3 year old delighted everyone with her dancing to the live music during a traditional Cockney knees-up! The food was seasonal and delicious, and Russ and the team were absolutely lovely and couldn't have been more accommodating.

Fantastic pub, one which I would actually call a pub. Comfortable surroundings and clean, nice crowd and good music which is loud enough to hear but not too loud to spoil a conversation. Gets lively of an evening which is ok if you're younger. I've been here at both times and never seen any trouble or had a bad experience. Food is excellent and there are several vegetarian options, the curry was really tasty and generously sized and the pie and chips really good too (both vegetarian). Old school puddings, apple crumble and jam sponge, amongst others, are there too if you have room! Great staff who are very friendly, efficient and welcoming. If you're in the area pop in for a drink and some food, you definitely won't be disappointed. One of better pubs I have visited!

I used to visit many years ago, just after it first opened and it was a good pub. I have managed to get back to the area and have visited it a few times over the last several weeks. Still a good pub with very friendly staff. Definitely worth visiting.

Staff and clientele are very welcoming and friendly. Unfortunately, the food didn't meet our expectations. Portion sizes were very small for a pub lunch. Two members of our group who shared each others food, were very ill the next day. The child had to have a few days off school. It's a shame, because if the food matched the atmosphere, it would be a highly recommended venue....Thanks to all staff for making us welcome.

Was here to meet some old work friends. We were there from lunchtime until 21:00ish when it started to get a lot more busy. Good drinks at a reasonable price, didn't try the food personally but people were buying it and seemed happy. Definitely be back for another catch up. Staff were excellent and had a good sense of humour.

Average at best. Toilet defo need work, broken locks and toilet seats. Beer was ok.

I don't usually do reviews so this is special. We came across the Crumpled Horn while out wandering. We were undecided what to do until Kaeti offered her assistance. Kaeti was professional, polite, helpful and chatty. Food was good, compliments to the chef, and to...
