Very clean and well equipped rooms. V ery friendly and helpful staff. Very comfortable beds. Good location with only a short walk into the centre of Twickenham. Parking and charging for electric vehicles.

Had a lovely Sunday roast (chicken) yesterday, was delicious. My partner and I shared a portion, more than enough to serve two people. Would happily return.

Cannot fault this hotel, comfortable clean room,excellent breakfast, great bar for drinks and dinner and the staff are helpful and friendly, nothing too much trouble, the only thing the room needs is the addition of a box of tissues, location ideal for what we wanted kew and hampton court which were both good days out , would stay again .

Vine con la familia y mis padres para el almuerzo del Día de las Madres. Nos dieron una mesa en la caja de cristal en la parte delantera, que tiene una hermosa vista con vistas al parque y el río. La comida, inicialmente pedimos el pollo asado, pero se habían agotado, así que pedimos el hombro de cordero compartido, que era increíble y masivo! Hicieron una caja para llevar a casa, ya que no pudimos terminarlo! Almuerzo realmente memorable y un gran servicio del hombre mayor y su equipo.

Excellent breakfast at the Alexander Pope, big full English portions and really great omelette. The coffee here is really good too, worth a visit.

Was turnt away on mothers day after a had confirmed the booking it was a last minute booking but they sed they could fit us in at 3:45 the booking was confirmed also through Google to which i had confirmation and was told rudely they dnt have room there was 4 adults and 3 children all dressed up and there was space on the outside tables in a way it was a blessing in disguise as people who where leaveimg sed they had to wait for a hour and a half and the potatoes where hard and that the food and service was not good so we found somewhere near by to accommodate us i has heart broken at first seeing my mums face in shock and half of the restaurant staring in disbelief was so disappointed I wouldn't of been so bad if the man with curly hair had been a bit politer about the whole thing he was so so rude

This hotel/pub it was a nice random place that surprised us with a delicious burger and a nice kind of relaxing atmosphere. Kind of because it is by the main road, but relaxing because it was sunny, you can see Thames river over the road and enjoy a pint and some food. The staff was friendly, quite helpful, and polite even they were massively understaffed and they were running all over. The management should do their job better and not exploy their people, but ot might be the exception as it was a sunny day and lots of people joined us so this time I will not consider this in my review. We will update it if we return, and it will be a similar situation. Parking is available on the back of the hotel or on the side streets, but with limited access.

We arrived early for our Mothers Day booking, the manager was very helpful and accommodating, he said that he was able to move our table to an earlier arrival which was appreciated. We sat in the front glass area and had such lovely food and service. My mother said it was the best roast beef she had had in a pub. Thank you for making our mothers Day such a special occasion.

We had lunch on Sun, the best pork roast I've had in a pub lately, well cooked, succulent, paired with tasty veggies and gravy.All my family were happy with their meals and even complimented the service we received from Robin. Buzzy place but nice atmosphere.

Didn't appreciate being told we have to vacate table after 1.5 hours when this wasn't the case at all, especially as it was a Mother's Day lunch and we were in no hurry - the booking showed 2 hours which in itself is rather arrogant considering this is a pub. Suggest you focus on making your customers welcome rather than purely maximising profits. Food was good and manager was accommodating when I raised my concerns over the ticking clock however.

As always, we enjoyed our experience at Alexander Popes. As a coeliac I always feel safe choosing items on your menu knowing that my dietary requirements would be met.

Another excellent Friday post-work trip to the Pope for food and drinks yesterday with colleagues. The chips here are truly the best! Special thanks to Alfie for going above and beyond with his service to ensure that we had a lovely evening - turning down the music a bit for one of the group who had an oncoming migraine, and ensuring our drinks were just they way we wanted them. It ensured a happy start to the weekend! Thank you!

Nice environment with free parking but limited spaces. Excellent for weekend brunch! Price is good. There is a lake side children playground and green for a walk. Pet friendly!

This was a visit for lunch with friends, prior to a 6 Nations fixture at Allianz Twickenham. As usual, Robin and his team were fabulous hosts. The food was excellent and the staff, waiting at table, were attentive and personable. The after-match ambience changed from restaurant to pub-lounge, with an excellent duo playing and singing live. An excellent day out, all round.

Food was a bit average, but perfectly good and great pre game atmosphere.

Had a big party for Sunday lunch with extra people joining at the last minute. Staff were great and coped very well with changing numbers. Food arrived quickly and was really good. Lovely conservatory with views on the river.

Great little spot especially by the open fire to meet a friend. On sunny days there is outside space. Good food, basic pub drinks.

Went for early Christmas lunch with family, we come here often and the waitresses are always friendly and efficient. Pub looking nice and festive, we all enjoyed the roast.

10 of us went for a Uni reunion. The Alexander Pope was the perfect place. Comfortable, spacious, warm. We were there for a good 8 hours and had a very enjoyable time. Staff were amazing and food was excellent. I can highly recommend the fish and chips

Its a few hours before England play Australia at Twickenham, the place is ridiculously packed and the staff are cooking and serving hundreds of meals... you would expect it to be chaotic and the food quality to be lacking however the staff service and attentiveness was absolutely amazing and our meal was bloody delicious and absolutely not overpriced. Brilliant! well done!

We hired the private room for an away day and a bit of a thank you to some of our longest serving employees. The service and food was excellent and the room worked well with the addition of a private garden and most importantly parking. I would recommend.

We recently visited Alexander Pope for my daughters birthday lunch. Due to the weather, we booked at 5pm but turned up earlier in the day to make the booking 3pm which the team were super easy moving for us and when we arrived we even had a selection of areas to choose from and we were able to bring decorations and balloons. The staff were super friendly, accommodating and the food was fab! We come here often with our children and we always get a table and looked after!

Booked for lunch before heading to Twickenham for the premiership final - the welcome was very friendly and nothing was too much trouble for LuLu who looked after us. Our two course lunch was delicious and very good value for money. We returned after the game to treat ourselves to a delicious dessert.

This is a hotel/pub. We were there for Gallagher final & booked too late to get an inside table. Edina kindly put our name on an outside table. Service & food quality were excellent.

Came to this pub for a party in the private room. Pleasantly surprised by the charm of this place. Staff were efficient and cordial. Food was good. Great for parties.

Drove past this place and stopped off for breakfast as it looks nice. The breakfast was fantastic! You can tell when places use good quality Ingredients and this does. The poached eggs were golden and runny. The sausages and bacon tasty. Can't fault it.

Been a tradition for us after Army/Navy game to walk down to the Alexander Pope for a post match beer and food and as ever we were not disappointed.

My partner & I had a great meal here!! The food was sublime; one of the best Sunday roasts I’ve had at a pub ever! The thing that made this visit so awesome, was that they didn’t have veggie gravy (the other gravy was beef & we don’t eat beef), so the manager went & got some veggie gravy for us, which was a great way to solve the situation for us & definitely means that we’ll be going back again in the future!

A lovely, friendly hotel with great food and excellent service. Just like going to a country house to relax. Very nice surroundings by the Thames. The pleasant helpful staff help to make any stay really enjoyable.

We stayed at the Popes for two nights when we attended an event locally. 16 of us had dinner here both nights when the restaurant was absolutely heaving. Between us we had every dish on the menu and all of it was excellent. The staff were incredibly busy but they were polite, helpful and hardworking. I have to single out Jodie though, for special praise. Unparalleled excellence in service and customer care, always with a huge smile, thank you Jodie.

Sunday roast is lovely here, would definitely come back. The roast dinner was delicious. 4 stars as kids meal (Mac and cheese) was really not worth the £9 and would not get again. Expected long wait and server was a bit awkward but overall okay.

I saw a previous review about feeling unwanted in a place and that’s exactly how we felt dining here as well. My mother wanted to try the place and so I took her here only to be met with disappointment. To paint a picture, we walk in the restaurant and waited to be seated. There were 2 people on the bar and the customers had already been served, the boy was polishing glasses and the other girl, who knows what she was doing. There was also another male server clearing a table, all 3, pretended we didn’t exist. We may not have been dressed like we were ought to meet the King but honestly, in this day and age to still have this kind of judgement from the staff to a paying customer is laughable. Realising, we weren’t going to be seated. I asked the staff on the bar if we can sit anywhere and she said yes. We sat ourselves down and I still had to ask for menus myself! I noticed how the rest of the people who walk in were treated and it was completely different to us. When the food came, it was presented well. However it was mediocre for the price. Perhaps our judgement and tastebud has been soured from the initial experience. Customers come in to not only eat the food but to enjoy the ambiance and the service. One thing I’ll say though is Talulah, our server, was pleasant which salvaged the number of stars a little bit but the rest was just inadequate and incompetent. I’m just glad they’re smart enough not to charge us service for they know themselves how absurd their service was. Definitely not coming back. I just felt sorry for my mum who was really eager to try this place out.

I've stayed here multiple times. Only two nights this time and while breakfast is usually a treat I didn't have breakfast this time. Its a good English pub and I'll be back.

Tried Sunday roast, chicken was cooked beautifully but the rest of the trimmings spoiled the dish. 2 soggy potatoes, few cold hispi Cabbage leaves, mushy carrots and the worst gravy I've ever tasted 😫 we ordered more Cabbage and chips because we were still hungry. Cabbage was very tiny portion and chios never arrived. We ordered lemon posset but really it was just whipped cream with the hint of lemon. Disappointed 😞 We also had our retriever with us and nobody even offered to bring some water for him.

I have never felt unwanted in any place in London before coming here. My child is attending a nearby course, so I wait for him at this location for over an hour on a couple of occasions. The staff were rude and displayed racist behavior. Additionally, I was overcharged and compelled to pay a service charge for the food and drinks, despite having to carry them around the restaurant myself. The staff, particularly the older man who served me, made it abundantly clear that I was unwelcome there!

We went to at the Alexander Pope for a family meal with grandparents, parents and children and were very pleased we did. The food & service was great & the hotel is very comfortable & well situated. close the the river. The steak was as very well cooked and the kids cleared their plats too. Would certainly recommend and return.

We do like the Pope my husband and his friends to like to go for a drink there. First time for dinner before the rugby with a group of friends. The restaurant was really bustling, the atmosphere was very friendly. Food and staff were fabulous, also a brilliant veggie choices. I would highly recommend to go.

After a fantastic Christmas dinner there last year, we were incredibly disappointed this year. The roast was luke warm deli meat and undercooked vegetables. The servers were all very polite and friendly but there seemed to be no communication between them as drinks and the bill had to be requested several times.

Lovely relaxed lunch here. Great menu. I'm not a salt person and some of the food was a bit salty for me. But otherwise was really good. Really nice selection of non alcoholic drinks as well.
